I have the platinum plus (seidio) hard case from best buy. I have been using it since launch day and it is a pretty nice case. It did however make the sliding action a little less smooth on the phone, attributed this to the clips removing clearance. Well, today I noticed a nice scratch on my physical keyboard, right down the R,F,C keys. @?n*#! Needless to say, I trashed th case and purchased a Golla Wallet. Beware.

I had the same problem from the case. It's cused by the clips. Mine was scratching the 2wsz and smiley keys. There is a solution, though. Just file the clips down a little and it will slide smoothly and stop the scratching

I'm using this case and I don't have this issue. In fact looking closely the clips are on the outer edges so they don't touch the keyboard.
My Body Glove case was a complete ***** to get off, the reason why was because the leeching harpy had her death grip dug into the outer rim of my Epic's screen, causing some minor scratches. I don't use it on account of that anymore. That seriously pissed me off. Crap company.
I'm using the cheap ebay one and I don't have that problem.
Purchased my Seidio rebadge last night and so far haven't had any problems. The phone slides as if there was no case on, so maybe your installation wasn't correct or something?
I was a little underwhelmed with both the Seidio and the Body Glove cases that are out....I have the leather Galaxy S case with clip from Sprint....if I need a colorful case one day I guess I will go to my local mall kiosk and get overcharged or try to hunt something down on the web
I took the rebranded seidio and filed down the clips with my leatherman wave, slides nice now.

I'm still debating if I should file down my Seidio Innocase or just return it. I already filed a RMA return request through Seidio so I most likely will just return it... I'm massively OCD with cases on phones, and I think the Seidio will just stress me out.
I ordered a Golla Smart bag to keep my precious in for now.

I'm in the same boat as you. I ordered the Golla Wallet, and I am only going to use the platinum + case until that arrives. I bought the Golla pouch looking thing as a temp but my wife said it was a little too girly looking so I gave it to my mother.

I got a cheap hard case from Amazon for 3$ and I haven't noticed any scraping on the keyboard. I'll be keeping an eye on it though. It is a real ***** to get the thing off though.
Got scracthes on my keys =(, I thinking I am going to go with a full body skin.
Seems like more and more people are getting scratches on their keys because of snap on cases.
For everyone who had problems with a Seidio Innocase, have you emailed Seidio with your problem for a refund?
They have money back refunds for up to 30 days I think.... Hopefully if they get enough emails they might redesign the case.
Until then, im looking for a alternative to the Innocase. The Active case from seidio looks nice but if its the same as the Innocase, i wouldnt purchase it.
Mine experience was worse... I guess I had some particles getting stock in the front bezel on the sides. Today I removed the bezel and to my surprise the phone was all scratched on the sides of the screen... went to Best Buy with my OCD complained about the battery and got a new one... has anyone tried invisishield?
I have scratches on my keys, and I don't have any case.

Sounds like it could a design flaw then...

I have an innocase and my keys are fine. I really dont see how the innocase can cause scratches, it doesnt even touch the keyboard, and the tabs are designed to not overlap on the top and bottom portions
Like the previous poster said, maybe some phones have a flaw causing the scratches? Specially if people phones are getting them with no case on
I just want to put this out there. I purchased the black Speck Candyshell today along with my G2X and will be returning it tomorrow. This case will literally scratch if you wipe your fingers on it. Don't even think about putting it down on a hard surface. This case would be perfect if it didn't look like complete garbage after having it on the phone for 5 minutes. Stay away from the Speck Candyshell in dark colors.
Could you please take some pictures of the phone in the case? From a few angles?
Wondering how the fit looks.
im also wondering about the scratches, if you could post pics of those as well!
i was planning on buying the black or grey candyshell case tomorrow.
The fitment is great! No lie there. Unfortunately I'm at work until 330. When I get home I'll throw the case on and take some close up macro shots.

I'm using the black\grey speck case with no issue and I quite like it, the other options in store were a joke...the body glove and circle ribbed one. I could suggest a case for your case in case it gets any other life threatening scratches. Sad part is I'm serious...its a case, they arent supposed to look like sculptures untouched, lol.
Ridiculous. I never stated that the case was never supposed to get scratched. However, I will not accept paying $38 for a case that looks like complete garbage after only 5 minutes of use.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Just exactly how long is your 5 minutes in my time? My case has been all over stepped on by pups, outside on furniture chilled by this crappy WA weather and in and out of my pockets back and forth. My case looks good...then again I will always be happier to have any character nicks and scrapes on my candyshell...so thats not even relevant. And ridiculous is hardly the word. Stating a phone hard case is garbage after 5 minutes, now thats ridiculous.
Look at you. Why are you trying to argue a moot point? Lol. I'll have pictures to support my statement.

I purchased this along with my G2x. T-Mo had a promotion going to buy 3 accessories or more and get 30% off each of them so I took the bait. I do have to say that the speck case does scratch VERY easily as mine has not been dropped at all and only placed on my work desk and it does have substantial scratches on it already. The other thing that irks me too is that my headphone jack doesn't fit into my phone with the case on so I had to rip the rubber out of the headset hole and it doesn't look to good but at least I can plug my headphones in with the case still on. I don't care that the case is scratched up as that is the point of a case--to take the damage instead of the phone. Just my 2 cents.

Here are a couple photo showing fitment as well as the scratches sustained to the case after being on it for 5 minutes. I'm sorry if this issue seems trivial to some but I'm not down for having my phone in a case that looks like **** after a couple minutes. Imagine what it'd look like after about 2 weeks. The hairline scratches seen were a result of a wipe down with a micro fiber towel. There are two scuff marks that were a result of placing the phone on the table.

A case is meant to get scratches.. you must of had keys in the same pocket with the phone of something.
Unfortunate there's no case for a case out there either.
hmm
well i purchased this at work today regardless of the thread starters issues. I work in a tmo store, and got it for pretty cheap so i figured theres no harm in trying it out. better than buying something i cant see first online. g2x should be on my doorstep in the morning, then i'll throw the case on and post up some more info.

Not the case. (Pun not intended) All the swirl scratches are from wiping it with a micro fiber towel. The two scuffs were from placing it on my desk at work. Regardless of the scratches, the molding around the volume rocker was cracked. When I went to the T-Mo store to return the case, I checked other cases and found that the case I had was the only one with the cracked rocker. All issues withstanding, this case is not worth $38 IMO.
Got the Speck case and love it. Makes the phone feel solid. And not as slippery! Only issue I had was I had to modify the opening around the headphone jack. Actually cut the piece separating the headphone and the HDMI port. Now I need to find something to smooth out the rough edges.
Speck cases do scratch easy. My sister has one for her iPhone in purple, and after 2 weeks of use it looks like it got ran over by a car, fell down a mountainside, and got chewed by wolves. Quite disappointing, considering how attractive (imo) they look. I still buying one for my Atrix. Lets see how it works being black... the most blemish showing color in the world
Wish they would make something white.

Try a dremel with a fine sanding bit to smooth things out.

Then get it for $19.99 at http://www.wirelessground.com/t-mobile-g2x-speck-candyshell-black.html I just got mine in the mail from them today. Fast delivery and half the price of TMO... I don't know why you would shop at the retail TMO store when you can get **** for way cheaper at 3rd party discount shops for the exact same thing...
I would not want this case at $5. It looks like ****. Reason I'll pay retail is because I don't have an issue paying the money and can not stand waiting for **** in the mail. Clearly, $34 isn't the issue when buying a $500 phone.

Received it today; first impressions...it fits like a glove, but it's easy to put on.
The silicone is the inner shell so it doesn't attract any dust. The plastic outside shell has a nice texture and isn't slippery. The only rubber parts which can be seen are the"enforced"edges, which serve the purpose of protection and makes sure that your screen never touches anything when laid down on its face and a narrow ring around the screen. The case however doesn't have covers for the ports(usb, camera, headphone and speakers) I had the idea that it would come with a screen protector, but my dead brain cells must have misunderstood the description. It comes however with a protective cover which also serves as a stand. It feels sturdy and with it on, your note is well protected, it makes however quite heavy like a brick.
The "phone"still fits in my hand, but that is without the cover attached.
All in all I'm quite satisfied with this case it will protect my note well and the design is not too shabby either.
I'll give y'all an update in two weeks.
Cheers my friends.

thanks for sharing your impressions and the pictures. i am very tempted to pick one of these up myself. I got a simple/cheap flip case to hold me over temporarily, but to be quite frank, I am too damn clumsy not to invest in more serious protection for my electronic devices.
Note 8 is my first case, so was curious how such a sturdy case felt on the device. Ballistic basically won over my loyalty two smartphone ago...had the equivalent case on my Atrix, and one day while running to catch a bus my phone fell out of my pocket and when flying, slammed into the asphalt of the highway/street i was running across hard enough to bounce three times and make it halfway back towards the other side of the street. I was horrified, went to retrieve it... not one single scratch, not one sign that anything had happened, just nothing. Those massive corners do their job, is all I have to say...
Hoping the case for this device is as reliable.
I can highly recommend this case, after two weeks of using, it has been nothing but good to my sweet note. The case and the stand feel sturdy, and when the note is my bag, the cover protects the screen...good stuff and a hell of a lot cheaper than the otter box.

any thoughts?
When you put the cover on the back, the hole is a cutout for the camera.

Has anyone noticed the case puts too much pressure on the back of the tablet. This is causing white spots to appear on the screen. Looks like LCD mura, but goes away when you take the case off. I've sent Ballistic an email, maybe mine is defective.

After going through two Lifeproof cases because of the horrible audio quality, I finally gave up and went with the Otterbox Defender since they don't make the Armor for the s4. I discovered the Preserver a few days ago and started soaking up all he knowledge I could on it and if any store actually carried it. I like to see hands on what I'm about to spend close to $100 on. Surprisingly I live close to the only Walmart in the DFW metroplex that had one in stock, and only one. I went by today and snatched it up. This case is very nice! Feels way more sturdy and protected than the Lifeproof, and most importantly, sound quality is hardly changed at all. Listening to a conversation is just slightly echoed, but those on the other end say they can hear me just fine. It looks very nice too. I wanted to love the Lifeproof so much, but I'm beyond happy with the Preserver!
using the lifeproof got real annoying on the other end when everyone kept saying they couldn't hear me
I've only had this case a week, and after loving and praising it, I've come across my first issue. The thin, silver strips of mesh that cover the speakers are not durable at all. The piece on the front that covers the ear piece has detached from the case and started fraying. I keep the case in my pocket since it doesn't have a holster to use. I pulled the case out of my pocket to make a call and just noticed it. I've submitted a claim with OtterBox already.
This sucks! I'm confident they will handle this and probably send me a new one, but that won't fix the flaw that the case has.

Im quite satisfied with my Seidio Obex case only issue is the proximity sensor doesn't "see" through the plastic, so it thinks its always covered. But i made myself an app that waits until a phone call is received or made and then enables the g sensor then a quick flick toggles the screen.
Got my second Preserver in the mail yesterday. Otterbox was very prompt in handling the warranty claim. Had it in the mail the same day I filed the claim. I had a sliver of hope that they might have a new design that they were sending me, but it's the same. We'll see how this one holds up!
After spending the week with the Incipio Atlas, the Preserver is still my favorite waterproof case so far. If they can fix the mesh speaker cover issue, it'll really be awesome.
UPDATE: Didn't even have it on a full day and the mesh tore off again. This thing needs to go back to R&D.
Why would the case manufacturers leave the pins on the back exposed when the thickness of the case would prevent anything from attaching? Having a hard time finding ones with a fully covered back. You have to take the cover off anyways so might as well protect them from dirt and corrosion if your gonna use a case.

OtterBox is fully covered
Incipio level 4 is what I use and it covers the whole back. It's so tight I thought it was gonna break the phone when I was trying too put it in. I'm not sure that it would be a good one if you plan on using Mods a lot due to difficulty getting it on and off.
Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
I ordered a Cimo brand (Cimo grip premium slim protective case). In the picture it showed the pins exposed and I wasn't really thinking about it. (late night internet shopping)
When it came the back is one solid piece. I have a suspicion a bunch of the gel cases show the pins exposed in the photos. The pins are covered. It has a lot of grip and is very rubbery. It still makes the phone feel slim and if I want to use my battery mod it slips right off. It was only 7.98 with prime shipping.
I'm still deciding if I want to spend the money for an Otterbox Defender. I need a belt clip for work. I am hoping more and more manufacturers start putting out more cases.

Does anyone know what material the Moto Z pins are made out of? I mean, as long as they use something that doesn't rust, like gold, I don't really see a problem with regular dirt and all.
Fairly certain they're gold. Or at least gold plated.
Full cover + possible to remove back and use mods
