As long as you use FAT64 file system, you can even use 512GB SD (technically possible but it won't be available for couple of years).
Currently, I use my 64GB micro-SD card formated in FAT32. Can I format a 128GB micro-SD card in FAT32 and use it in the same way?
I didn't do any formatting to use it.
And it works.

I'd wait for a good 600x or 633x chip to come out. I did a test with 633x over the Ultra and that the 2x speed increase is great. Though backing up to SD with large apps that have been moved to SD causes a bottle neck, and cannot be resolved unless you add an OTG Thumb drive, to allow backups to the thumb drive while allowing full reads from device and external SD without need to have writes slow down the processes between reading.

Not the way it's configured in the stock manner. You have to increase the read ahead. Also a Sandisk class 4 will probably blow a generic class 10 away.

Also if it is indeed a generic card, be careful about where you buy it from. There are a lot of fake SD cards floating around the internet that are basically repainted 256mb cards set to keep overwriting data to appear larger than they are.
Also remember that the class of the card is an indication of write speed. Read speeds are pretty close to the same across all cards except that the higher quality cards(Sandisk, Kingston, etc) will read a little faster from what I understand.

Basically, a 32GB Class 6 card from Sandisk or another reputable manufacture is what you want.

It's a useful program, and seems to speed things up quite well. I also used a program called SD Tools: https://market.android.com/details?id=ales.veluscek.sdtools&feature=search_result to test the performance changes to determine the best settings. I found 1024 to give the greatest improvement with my card (32GB class 2 SanDisk).

Got my memory card from Walmart. I got it for $10 with tax because there was a pricing mistake on their part
It was on the correct hook and UPC code matches the product. Regular price was $39.
SANDISK 16GB CLASS 4
It also came with MICRO SD to SD ADAPTER
I was debating getting a 32GB card but the 16GB is plenty for me for now.

Nice man that's a pretty good deal. I ordered my class 10 16gig patriot from newegg for something like 40 I think , l don't like to buy stuff like that in stores because its way over priced usually. Unless you're talking Fry's they frickin price match from store and online like newegg,Amazon and tigerdirect.

Locally the highest you can get is class 4 and 16GB. For now it will be good until 64GB cards come out. And all the other prices for lower.

Usually when they come with a SD Adapter, they are fake. I bought a Class 10 16GB PNY from amazon for $33.
My speeds with SD speed increase:

Read: 18.8 MB/s

The 64GB cards are MICRO SD XC
The cards this phone supports are MICRO SDHC.
I love passing storage milestones, but don't get too excited, only a handful of devices currently have the architecture to support microSD cards bigger than 32GB, so make sure you have a compatible device before you empty your wallet. Don't have one? Don't sweat it, Your phone sucks. LOL

Why would you say this. I've bought at least 4 different cards that came w/adapters and they were not fakes in any way. I just got my new Sandisk 32GB SDHC yesterday and now I've got the room for my Music.

The truth is sdxc and sdhc have the same hardware and every thing else the only difference is the file system moving from fat32 to exfat which is an improvement of fat32 current used on all mobile devices and alot of limitations like only holding file of 4gbs
For all current devices all they need is a firmware update to work with sdxc but manufacturing company are introduction it like a new thing if u bought one and formatted it to ext4 or ext3 it would work on android or Linux
Or wait it exfat drivers are out for android
Just do some research and will see

have you formatted the memory when you first put it in your device? try to backup your files and format it again then restore your files, if there is no difference in speed, go for class 8 or 10, but a class 4 is fast enough. make sure you unmount your memory properly
Lol class10... here in Brasil it would be soooo expensive. Using class4 32gb

Say I buy a 64gb MicroSD
I put 64gb of movies on it.
Can I watch all that 64gb of movies?
The tablet says it only recognizes up to 32gb more...which I don't understand.
No. The size of the card is too large for the tablet to support!!
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
Another question
Do I have to drag the movies onto the internal storage in order to watch the movies, or can I just open them from the MicroSD
Honestly, I think you should be fine with a 64GB card. The Galaxy S3 only officially supports 32GB max, but no one's had any problems using 64GB cards. Don't worry about what the tablet's specs say the max is. Just try a 64GB card. I'm willing to bet that it'll work just fine.
Also, the movies should play just fine from the card. No need to move them.
I'm afraid the tablet will not recognize sdcard:screwy:

Officially, the TF300 can accept up to a 32GB micro SDHC. There has been confirmation that some 64GB micro SDXC cards have worked as well. All the ones I have tried have worked, but officially, the specs say 32GB.
And to answer the OP, if your 64GB does work, you can transfer the movies to the internal memory or you can watch straight from the card. It's up to you.

Hi,
I have TF201 and a 64GB (Sandisk microSD class 10) and it works perfectly. Comes preformated with exFAT and I am using it "out of the box".
Watching directly from the card. I have for about 2 moths now.
Hope this helps
I got my tf300 a couple weeks ago and my sandisk 64 seems to work fine. Annoyingly, Asus thinks I need to know that there is an external card in and displays that in the notifications but it's not the cards fault lol

For anyone thinking about buying a Micro SDXC for their Photon Q...
I can confirm it works on my XT897! (See attached pic!)
Sandisk Part#: SDSDQUA-064G-U46A
This is the Class 10 card, not the cheaper class 6 card.
Nice! As of right now i dont have a need for storage that high so i'm still rocking my 16GB class 6, but that's definitely good to know.
Nice.. ima buy one.. did you have to reformat it in the phone? Or you put it in and it was ready to go?

I, too have a 64GB SanDisk and it works just fine. Only issue is it sometimes causes the phone to think the SD card is corrupted when I take it out of mass storage mode, but popping the SD card into my computer and running a disk checker tends to make that stop.

Yes, I did. Originally the phone said the SD card was corrupt (it had an exFAT partition).
