[Q] YouTube Problem - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
About one week ago, the YouTube application in my phone stopped to work on my wi-fi (I got "There was problem in the network" And "retry" button). Whats weird in this story is the fact that it happen only in the wi fi in my house, but not in 3G or in other wi-fi networks. I tried it in another phone and it had the same problem.
What can I do?
Thanks

Delete your wifi network from your n5 and connect it all over again.
Have you tried clearing cache/data of youtube app?

As counter-intuitive as this may sound, try rebooting your router. Also, make sure the router's firmware is up to date. Absurd? Yup. Works? Yup.

Check out an app on the playstore called Push Notifications Fixer. Read the issue it addresses. There is both non-root and root versions. It made a difference in addressing Google service retry issues for all my Android devices.

wifi connects but doesn't work

I have a stock Skyrocket (4.0.3-IML74K.CLE5) I am using as a media player. I keep it in airplane mode all the time with the Wifi on connected to my router. Yesterday the Play store started telling me there was no connection even though I was connected to my router. I went to the web and found I could connect to pages, but constantly get security warnings. If I click continue I can go on to see the page. Netflix tells me there is a problem connecting to Netflix. Voice search works fine. Google Voice tells me there was a network error. Facebook says it can't find a secure connection. Gmail says no connection. Zedge works fine.
I have tried four different wifi Hotspots both secured and insecure. I have tried telling it to forget the connections and reconnecting. I have restarted many times, removed the battery, and tried all the frequency bands.
The wifi icon in the notification bar shows a strong connection. And the little arrows light up orange and green to show activity.
I am guessing there is something wonky going on with establishing a secure internet connection, bit I have no idea how to fix it. Any advice is appreciated.
Q&A please

Sorry about posting in the wrong spot.
I have been using it like this for three weeks. The problem started two days ago.
Update: it works again. I don't know what I did to fix it, though. I went through every setting, and did turn off screen lock and unknown sources, bit I doubt that did it.
i figured it out, i had the same problem, the date and time were askew. updated them and it worked just fine ^__^

[Q]nexus 5 cant find wifi

Hey guys!
So I have a problem with my nexus 5.
Lately it seems as if it does not find "new" wifi connections... It connects to the one it already has saved.
If I click scan no wifi networks appear even though there are many(my pc and other phones get good signal)
I also get the notification saying "There are networks available" but when i touch it no networks appear...
Any ideas?
Cheers!
EDIT: I just tried adding the SSID and it connected fine and works great.... So the problem is the actual scanning...

You say that it happens "lately". So it worked previously? Anything change right before the problem arose? What is your phone's configuration, i.e., ROM, kernel, Xposed, runtime, etc. Have you rebooted the router? (I know, your other devices see all networks, but, what works for one may not for another)

I would suggest that the router you are connecting to is set to not broadcast the SId - simple (but not too effective) security measure.

Same problem here! I got my N5 yesterday and wifi was perfectly connecting to my router. The I unlocked the bootloader and root by using WugFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit and phone is not detecting anymore my wifi network. Phone wifi works since I see the others wifi around but not mine!:crying::crying:
I did the following but problem still present:
- powered off the router
- changed SSID on router setup
- removed security on router setup
- add manually the wifi into Nexus 5
I have no clue on what I can do more....pls help!
EDIT: solved: I noticed my router was set on specific channels for wifi, then I modified to AUTO
If i remember correctly, Nexus 5 version 4.4 had issues connecting to WIFI channel greater than 10.
I had this issue also.

[Q] WiFi Issue

Background:
A week ago, I flashed the Lollipop Developer Preview onto my Nexus 5. I am also in High School, and my school offers WiFi. When I went to school the morning after I flashed it, I was having some trouble with the WiFi. I usually open up Chrome and go somewhere basic (google.com) because the school WiFi will block everything and automatically redirect you to an authentication page, where you would sign in with your student ID and password. What would happen was I would try to connect to the open, unsecured SSID, my phone would connect to it, but would leave a little exclamation mark next to my WiFi indicator. I did some research on that and found that it was because my phone wasn't detecting an active connection, and was switching me back to Mobile Network thanks to the new Lollipop feature. Which means that when I would try to get redirected to the Authentication Page, it would use Mobile Network and successfully bring up whatever URL I threw in there. I searched some more on Google, XDA, and various other Android forums, to no avail.
So, I figured it wasn't the worst thing in the world, and decided to go some time without WiFi while sticking to my Mobile Network. After a couple of days, the WiFi issue seemingly resolved itself. I'm not sure if it was because of something I did, or whatever else. I used the same SSID, same URL for redirection, same browser, same everything. I didn't care, it was fixed. And I thought that was the end of it.
Fast forward to now:
Last night, I flashed the official stock image, straight from Google. I thought the issue I had the week prior was a bug that would've been fixed. To my surprise, I get to school, and sure enough, the same issue as a week before. I am, obviously, going to wait and see if it fixes itself again, but the issue sparked curiosity, and now I have to ask...
What would cause this?
What are some possible resolutions to this?
Is this something Google didn't think of when designing 5.0?
If anybody has/had the same issue, I would love to hear about it. Any help or tips/resolutions are appreciated.
Thanks,
206003
Update:
I'm not sure what happened, exactly, but upon coming to school this morning, I noticed that my WiFi works and the issue is gone. Though I'm glad, I'm still not sure why this happened. Any answers?

I read here on the Nexus 5 site) that Lollypop has a problem when on channel 12 and higher on wifi. Might be your problem.
That's what I thought too. So I downloaded a WiFi analyzer and tried to connect directly to a channel 1 connection. It didn't work. I tried a channel 6 connection, which still didn't work. Any other ideas?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA mobile app
I don't think you can do it that way. I think you will have to actually go into the school router and make the changes on the router. You will need password and permissions and I doubt that school will give it to you.
The WiFi analyzer I used showed me the available channels for the SSID, along with the channel number I was connected to. None of the channels worked.

Same problem. Whenever I try to reconnect to any WiFi, it shows an exclamation mark. To make it work, I have to either switch airplane mode on then off, or forget network and setup again.
This happened ever since upgrading to Android Lollipop without wiping data. I am rooted if that matters.
Any updates? Changing channels is far from a feasible solution.
I found a better temporary fix. Once connected to WiFi, you disable data until the exclamation mark is gone, and then re-enable it.
I'm still not too sure what the fix is. Like I said, time solved my issue. I am still curious as to what it is though, so any input is appreciated.

After a while, the problem reappears so I keep mobile data disabled while on WiFi. You can automate that with Smart WiFi Toggler. Problem pretty much solved.
Yup. Problem reappeared. When I try to disable mobile data and connect again, nothing happens. I still have the exclamation mark.

Here's how I do it:
Connect to WiFi > Disable Mobile Data > Surf the Internet > Exclamation mark disappears.
Android 5.0.1 seems to have fixed the issue for me.
Greetings.
I had the same wifi! problem with everyone and when i looked at my router's settings i noticed that there was no dns selected in the router. not from isp, not manually, nothing. So i just checked dns from isp and voila.
hope that helps someone.

Are you also facing this Lillipop WiFi bug ?

After getting N5 updated to the 5.1 update whenever my phone goes into deep sleep the WIFI turns off (yes I have checked the option to keep WIFI on during sleep). But it's really frustrating as I cant get any update on my mails and on messengers. Tried 5.1.1 custom roms, they are also facing the same problems. Are you also facing this problem ?
Nope, never

I would check your router, I remember a year ago my router started kicking off people for no reason on WiFi.
Found out it wasn't the devices but the router itself so I replaced it after seeing it was faulty even after a reset and now those devices were working fine.
So check your router's firmware, try a power cycle and whatnot.

Sorry to maybe dragging up some thing you've already tried but have you got "scanning always available" turned on (the Google location one in wifi - advanced)
Good luck.

Maximum WiFi connections error

Since the last weeks I have been having a problem with my Moto G3.
When connected to a wifi spot at some point seems that apps stop connecting, and the only way to solve it is closing apps (with a utility like "Greenify", for example) and after that all is normal again; so I open some apps and at some point the wifi is blocked again and I have to kill the opened processes, and then I can use wifi again... and once and again the same.
Is someone else having this problem?

That's a new one... is this always the same WiFi network you are connecting to, or does the phone exhibit this behavior on multiple networks?

it happens with any wifi I connect to. This issue started some weeks ago, but I can't figure it out the reason... everything was working fine.
I've reflashed the firmware and problem remains... so I thought it could be an app doing this, but tried with just my common used apps and stills the same.
The weirdest part is that it starts exactly the same week I accomplish a year with my cellphone
at the end I couldn't resolve it... so I flashed a CFw.
by the way, Cyanogenmod 13 is great!
