Vibrate When Plugging In For Charge? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm new to Android and I can't seem to find the answer to this question.
When you plug in an iPhone for charging, it vibrates briefly to let you know it's charging?
Is there a similar setting for the Nexus 5? I can't seem to find it in Settings and as I searched Xposed modules and Play Store widgets, none of them seemed to have this exact setting or feature.
When I search the forums here, all I find are people who seem to be suffering from a defect and don't want their phone or tablet vibrating when they're plugged in.
To be clear, I just want a short vibration and a short screen wake when I plug into a micro USB cord for charging. This would confirm to me that the phone is actually charging.
Thanks in advance!

I can't remember if the stock software updated to do this but for example, I'm on SlimKat ROM and I can set to vibrate, play a sound, and wake up the screen. Some ROMs may have other options as well.
I'm not sure if an app would do this but mostly I've always seen it built into the ROM itself.

For SlimKat:
Settings > Display > Wake up on charge
Settings > Sound > Advanced options > (Enable, Vibrate, Notification sound). The sub menu in Advanced options is called "Power Connectivity Alert".

I am using 4.4.2 Kit Kat stock. I don't have the "Wake up on charge" setting under the Display settings.
Under Sound, I do not have "Advanced Options" under Sound.
Thank you for helping. I'm relatively new to Android; I'm not to the point where I'm considering flashing modified ROMs onto my Nexus 5 yet. I like that I'm able to root stock Android relatively easily and use the latest version of Android essentially when it becomes available. It's something I took for granted using iOS. It's nice to be able to go to the latest and greatest on the Nexus 5 essentially as soon as it's out.
Is there another way to do what I want to do without installing SlimKat?

It is possible to do it without SlimKat but I'm not sure. Stock Android is rather lousy even with root. Custom ROM's are the only way to go with the exception of losing proprietary features. So you won't have the options I've told you, it would be on SlimKat ROM. I recommend you read sticky threads on XDA to beef up your knowledge. You may also want to search the Play Store and see if apps are available to do these functions until you decide you wish to use custom ROMs.

I set it to vibrate most of time as I'm in meetings most days and coming from iOS, I'm not in the habit of switching the volume back up when I'm done. When set to silent, the iPhone vibrates when I plug it in to charge. That's the functionality I'm looking for really as I try to sneak a charge whenever I can, i.e. in the car, etc. It's nice to get the confirmation vibrate that it's charging without having to turn the volume back up.
Maybe it's not possible on stock or a widget or via Xposed. Just wondered if someone knew if I could get that functionality on stock but rooted Android.
Thanks!

II guess you could just change the build.prop to make it do this.
Also I just realised it only chimes when placed on a wireless charger lol.

There's an Xposed module that will let you get a lot more granular if you're WIRELESS charging,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2587431
LOL, but nothing it seems, for basic Micro USB cable chargers.

Have you seen my mobile app which does exactly the same.

Amy feedback is welcome. If you dont happen to like the app, I will be happy to refund

I'm sorry if this has been gone over already but i did look and didnt see what i was looking for. Im looking for an app that will allow me to change what the phone does when docked or plugged in. so at night i can silence it on my nightstand or launch media player/nav when i plug it in the car etc. kinda like what it does by default with the mass storage options but with more options. Thanks for any input.

Tasker is an app that lets you do all kinds of things based on power, location, time, etc. It is very advanced, and probably more then you need - but it should do all that you want.

I second that. I have Tasker profiles set to change how the phone reacts based on whether it's plugged into my car or my desktop. I bought it almost immediately after trying it out. Very capable app.
Thanks guys. I'll try that.

How do I get "do not disturb" in quick settings?

I remember shortly after getting my Nexus 5 that I noticed a hand icon in quick settings for do not disturb setting..
I went to use it the other day and it had disappeared. I had unlocked and rooted and also flashing custom kernel.
So as I couldn't find any setting to re enable, and suspecting it might have been something I had done, I downloaded Google nexus 5 image and reflashed to stock, but still no joy .
Any advice ?

I don't remember seeing anything like this, as I recall. But I am disappointed that the Quick Settings are not really all that quick. Tapping things like Bluetooth or Wifi takes you to the full settings page for that feature instead of simply toggling it on and off as I usually am trying to do.

If you hold the icon instead of clicking it, it turns on the radio. For example, pressing WiFi takes you to the WiFi settings page, but long holding the icon will just turn it on. Same for BT.
As for the Do not Disturb, I've never seen that. I know iOS has it...and I'm sure there are Google Play apps to do something similar, but Android doesnt have that stock.
Sadly it doesn't exist in stock android. They really have to add that. Every other platform has it except stock android.
EDIT: Yes, I know touchwiz and sense have it.

Thanks. It makes me wonder though how the "average" person is ever supposed to learn little things like this -- certainly not intuitive IMO.
Mystery solved, just realised that I had switched back to my HTC One with a leaked version of sense 5.5

I found that you can press the power button and from that menu you can set the volume to vibrate or mute. Not sure if this is what you were looking for.
Thankfully custom ROMs will be here soon (in more complete/stable forms) to make all of these annoying issues better. Stock Android lacks some seriously useful little touches, but that's why we got unlocked devices....

soyes 7s mini phone- How to disable "assist touch" ? gets turned on each boot

soyes 7s mini phone- How to disable "assist touch" ? gets turned on each boot
I got a cheap mini phone for dog walks,
soyes 7s
got it rooted and works fine, but there is an assist touch settings that enables a floating button after each boot. I can disable it in accessibility settings, but it is enabled again after a restart.
I have looked in the files in root, but have not found anything yet that might enable this setting each boot.
Now created a task in macrodroid with autoinput that disables it with a button.
Any slight chance of any help regarding a setting that is activated each boot?
I’d like to know this too. I’d love to see someone create a custom rom for this cool little phone. I love it.
have not found a solution, but with macrodroid and autoinput made it toggle the setting. So after unlock the settings screen is opened then toggled. Not pretty.
Also installed xposed on it.
Very cool little phone. Perfect with a bt earpiece and audify that reads incoming sms-email and caller name. Used Vphone S8 before, but this android thing is better and not much bigger.
Thanks for that. It’s fun with angry birds too lol. I’m really surprised the geeks haven’t jumped all over this. Low cost of entry and super cool and useful toy. You wanna meet girls, take this out on an elevator when they are all messing with their phones lol. I have mine set up to look like an iphone and it’s ace. Even found a silver Apple logo for the back on eBay. It’s a conversation starter. Way more capable than an Apple Watch lol
Hi. I just received mine. I bought to use in the same reason as you did. I saw that the phone is consuming a lot of battery in idle. I tried to root but I couldn't. With tools do you used to root yours? Thanks a lot.

I used the kingorot apk to root, but first unlock bootloader.

I then replaced kingorot with supersu, version stable 2.79.apk not the new ones.

When i do this the smartphone boots in Android. I already enabled OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging.
are you using the kingoroot.apk ? just install it and press one click root. Allow unknown sources and I think you need net connection

Awesome! Now it is working. Thanks a lot! I just installed xposed and now i am going to change some things and see if i can improve my battery. I will come back latter!
I installed the xposed installer and just installed the framework it suggested. arm7I.
OK My device is rooted. What is xposed? How does it work? I’m new to android. I’ve downloaded it from the App Store but can’t make it do anything. What tweaks work best and how do I get them installed?
I'd like to be able to tweak the home button functionality to be able to mimic iOS and activate voice search etc.
I have this phone too lovely little phone i have installed holo launcher and dropped the dpi down to 130dpi looks awesome now.The only thing is we need to find out what’s drawing the battery so fast in general use.The phone itself sleeps like a baby pretty good in standby anyone have any ideas. And would be nice if we can get a sub forum going for this device as i think its getting very popular.

I don’t know about that because it does a good job at standby time something seems to be draining it when in use may be some app or background process.I am sure we have plenty of people here with the know how to get it running better. I know this phone has been selling like hot cakes and a growing interest in the phone because it so well built and does not look so cheap and decent performance for that crazy size of it.Also i have been testing hotspot on this phone and the battery life is amazing when using hotspot to my ipad very impressed definitely a very handy feature of this phone.
Mine is also changed to 130dpi, looks much better now. That sim tray is a work of art lol.
yes, this phone is very snappy for the size. Feels faster than the two android watches I have, that are not used. Needed something that can be tucked away connected with bt and a voice notifier.
The xposed module "app settings" is good to tweak certain apps dpi and font size. I think my overall dpi is 120-130.
Also setcpu profiles to save when screen off and 900mhz screen on, only max cpu with incoming calls. Then greenify and amplify.
For me it last 2 days of dog walks, or 4-5 hours on connected to bt with a few short calls.
Do you have any issues with app icons moving around changing locations? I’m using an IPhone X launcher.
no, but i use Nova launcher. Not paid much attention, mainly for accepting incoming calls

Unable to make phone ring

Hello
I just bought this phone, and despite navigating the entire settings menu, I am unable to turn up the volume for the ringer. The vibrate icon shows on the status bar,and a notification on the quick settings shows that I'm on vibrate mode.
What have I overlooked??
Edit..disregard.i found the little sound rocker volume above the power button. What is the purpose of it since that's what settings are for ?

When your in a meeting or someplace where your attention is required and you don't want your phone blaring out it's downright disrespectful. And pulling out your phone to unlock and put in silence mode, says a lot to people. Now pulling it out, and hitting the slider makes people curious about the phone, it's just convenient. And with heptic feedback, you can feel what mode your on without even pulling it out.

Thank you. That makes sense. You sound like an expert on this device. I've received a few texts, but there's no light to blink. How can I get notified when the screen is off?
Also, where can I start looking to upgrade it to Android 10 and rooting?

Please understand my respectful reply...but it seems to me that you know very little about this phone...and you want to root it? My serious recommendation is that you stick with stock, go to the Play Store and install Oxygen Updater as this app will get you the latest available updates for the 7 Pro. Stay away from root, and boot loader unlocking as this will wipe the phone and several people have problems doing this. Just stick with stock.

I would agree with you on that, about sticking with stock in OOS. But, Root gives you access to tweak your device to your liking, and add extra security features. Android isn't Android unless your running at Root level. If your new, then I'd suggest you read first, and it helps if you know Linux.

Question EKIY T7 Android 10 6/128

Just received this unit and I am very impressed! It is much more powerful than the PX5 unit (2G/16G) that it replaced, although this was a great unit for the time.
It comes with the option to factory unlock the bootloader. My question is, has anyone successfully rooted and installed TWRP on this unit?
No TWRP (at my knowledge) but Magisk Yes

I will take your word for it. I ask because it is what I know and am familiar with. Haven't really tried anything else.
All I need is my stock firmware to patch for Magisk. I asked my seller nicely and looked on firmware.mobi with no success. If anyone has the stock T7 firmware, could you share a link please? Thank you!
So I took my first road trip with this unit. I "stumbled" my way into root. My seller sent me an upgrade firmware and I replaced my 6315_1.zip file from the firmware with a 6315_1.zip from someone's post who had a EKIY T900 and it worked. Although Magisk did not "turn green" making me initially think I failed to root the device, root apps ask for superuser access and work perfectly. I don't know how important it is for Magisk to "turn green" or why it isn't, but as long as I have root, I accomplished my goal. Also, 4G works great with the prepaid T Mobile SIM.
A couple bugs I've noticed are:
1. My button backlights aren't working. They turn on at boot and then turn off once the desktop comes up and nothing I do will turn them on. I asked my seller who offered up a couple solutions like "turn on your headlights" as if I'm driving around without lights at night. There were some menu options they wanted me to change but nothing fixed the button lights.
2. I cannot get notifications. When I pull down the notification bar there are no notifications although there are icons showing as if notifications are present. All I get is the buttons for wifi, data, and so on. When I swipe down again I get screen brightness, but still no notifications.
Overall, after the first road trip, I am extremely impressed. I am streaming DirecTV app and Waze in split screen for 6 straight hours and it did not skip, freeze, or crash a single time. It isn't completely installed into the dash so I can easily pull it out and the backside felt slightly warm but not too hot after I parked at the hotel. The couple little bugs don't bother me enough to lessen my excitement. This thing rocks!

1. Same for me on a Joying 9853i, which is also a FYT. I like to have the back buttons on all the time as it can be helpful as well on really sunny days. My "back buttons" are actually the small embedded ones in the panel. So I cut/disconnected the ILLUM wire and connected it to the ACC Contact wire, so that when I switch on contact, my back-buttons are always on.
2. The systemui implementation by FYT is, to put it friendly, quite peculiar. So indeed, some things don't work and it will not change by using another launcher as the underlying systemui will stay the same,
I did exactly as you did with my ILLUM wire and it works exactly how I wanted it to! Thank you for the help!
I just want to be able to use the unit for maps or another while on an active phone call.
