I wanted to see if anyone was successful in screen mirroring with one of the avail methods- S4, Note2 after rooting.

What available methods? Miracast? That's the only screen mirroring I know of and it's a stock/oem option (no root required).
Sorry i guess my original post could be read wrong.... but what i meant was Miracast worked until i ROOTED, but now it does not work. There are a few work arounds posted on XDA. So i was curious if anyone tested them on the Note 12.2, if they work or if anyone has any other methods that work to mirror the screen.....Thx

There was a patch for that in the note 2014 apps sub forum. It may work for you. I would back up the file your replacing to be safe though.....read then entire thread too

the lib files need to be altered is what i believe. that was done on note 10.1 2014. my note 3, prior to KK updated wouldnt work, now it does and i dont think the lib files were altered. just a possible work around......
I found the patch in the note2 threads....it is the lib_WFD engine.so that needs to be replaced in system/lib folder.
Problem is, I don't see that lib file in the lib folder on my 12.2. It's on my 2014 though, and screen mirroring is working on that.
Nervous to drop it in there, wouldn't want to mess anything up. I'm thinking we need a patch specific to kitkat. The note 2 patch was for 4.3.
patch specific to device as well
Mine connects/disconnects saying due to a hardware issue. Being I have little knowledge, but enough to get myself in trouble, I was thinking of copying the 2014 lib file and dropping it in the 12.2. Any thoughts of what that could do?
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
I would not do that. Check the Note 2014 thread it links to one that originally solved the issue on some devices. I would Share your Lib-lib files with him and see if he could fix it.

Here are my lib wfd files within the lib folder. If you need more let me know. Hopefully this helps. I see triangle away works for some as well. I don't see where the 12.2 is supported yet.
Just tried imediaShare and got it working through my sony bluray. ...can stream from tablet and browse same time. Good work around for now.

I have the same issue. Never tested it before root. .. Actiontec Screen beam.
I'm going to test mine today too. If it doesn't work out maybe we can bring attention to someone running it. We should also scour the note 3 forums and see if anyone had a similar issue with kit kat builds. The files may be similar.

This is what I use. Worked before root but not after. Been busy this past week but I will also keep checking for options. I did not see anything promising in the note 3 section.
Ya, I haven't seen anything to help us out either. Especially since we don't have the matching lib files. Not sure what we can do, but I'm willing to donate to whom ever can get a fix working! Heck, I'll even help test!

Scott indicated there are bugs. Possible issue with stock browser. Kinda Crap mods not tested to work. AFAIK, the latest and greatest that's stable is the G7 radios, CleanROM 2.1 and CleanKernel 1.2, all three of which have been reported to work very well together (including for myself). Hope this helps.
--more--
Sorry, forgot to answer your question...lol...this is MUCH different than CleanROM. CleanROM has all or most of the bloatware / Verizon crap removed, as well as a lot of background apps and services disabled or removed as well. The OTA has nothing removed and is only rooted (meaning you can use Titanium Backup, ES File Explorer and other system-type apps as root).

someone please tell what this 44mb ota update that became available this morning entails.
any way for someone with twrp recovery to install this ota since twrp interupts the update? through kies? or, any way to install the factory recovery back after having installed the twrp recovery?
If it's only 44MB, it's sure as hell not JB, so I wouldn't worry about that.
You can always get the stock recovery back by using ODIN to restore back to stock if you really want to see what the update is.
If you search, I'm sure you'd find out what is. I know its been posted already. All I can remember for sure is the new baseband.

i just found one stock recovery tar and will flash it using odin ( it is from an old post, july of this year ) and at the download link for the stock recovery tar md5 file it said it was not tested - so not certain if it is safe to not brick. stock recovery tar md5 for skyrocket is hard to find. that is what sucks, once you load a custom recovery, hope it is possible to get back to stock recovery.
thank you.

But I'm not aware of getting rid of the prompts on stock. Maybe accept it and do not let it complete the update download?

I let it download, and then because I'm rooted it failed as expected, which is fine because I don't want the update anyway. I just rebooted and it seems to have stopped the nagging.
Anyone know how to turn off device management? Or to where the pkg was copied so that I can rename it?

Update: Links at the bottom of the OP to avoid confusions.
Not my work, just got jealous of my friends Note II... So, I Did a quick search through "themes and apps" for this gallery to no avail, so i turned to my best friend google. I only tried this on the stock UCLK4 odexed rom. Don't know about any other roms and I'm loving this rom to much to try it. xD
Take the lib from here, it should be 969.24k. (root explorer)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1876207
Take the apk from here, it should be 12.63mb.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006951
(Yes two threads, because I dont have permission to use/mirror the files (much to lazy to ask ( I'd rather go through more threads)))
Both files are in different flashable zips.
1. Extract them and get the lib and apk I mentioned above.
2. Use your favorite explorer (mine's root explorer) and rename secGallery2.apk to secGallery.old.
3.Do the same with the odex file of the same name. (You can delete these if the gallery is working, juat dont expect anyone to send you a file to revert)
4. Install using your explorer and change permissions on both lib and apk to rw-r-r.
5.reboot and hope it works.
My reasons for using two different files is because both didnt work (clicking on a picture resulted in FC) and I juat happen to notice all the files within are different sizes from the other. So, I experimented a bit and got it working. So far the only thing I tried doing was setting a wallpaper. It worked fine.
If anyone has a better or more efficient/convenient way, please feel free to let everyone know.

What do you do with the lib files now? So this is what I did, causing gallery to force close every time. I renamed the OLD gallery to ".old" and moved the new one in and set permissions. Because I couldn't figure out what to do with the lib files, I just went up one level and clicked the "lib" folder and paste it in there with the rest of the ".so" files. Then I set the permissions and reboot. What did I miss?

Why can I enable my NFC, but it stays greyed out? I posted two pictures. One showing my NFC settings page and my phone setup.

Also, why does it say I have a galaxy nexus in my settings. I have a s3. Ha.

Did you change the build.prop or use the wallet installer.apk to get Google wallet working? That tricks your phone into thinking it's a nexus so wallet will work.
I have the same nfc problem. Ruining AOKP. Don't know how to fix it. Let me know if you figure it out.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
It was wallet. Have you tried changing the build.prop? I didn't try doing that yet. But my NFC works on beta2 on liquidsmooth. Noticed in ROM manager when I was trying to upgrade recovery it said my version was a nexus also. Lol. New to android so I had to switch ROMs so it said I have a s3 in about phone then upgrade clockward recovery mod ..

Nandroid backup, flash a TW rom, enable NFC and leave it on, restore your Nandroid. See if this helps.

The thing is, if you read the very first thread in the link that ddurandSGS3 posted, the OP started the same post already and folks offered help there too. He could have just revived that thread. I posted help there too although I wasn't aware he responded again until just reading ddurandSGS3's post.

Oh no I totally understand. I'm just saying no one ever actually searches. They just start these threads about questions that have been answered 100 times and clutter up the threads. Just like in ROM sections. People all post the same things without reading.

Possible NFC fix
Here is a link to a zip that you have to flash. A friend gave it to me to fix my nfc issue and it worked beautifully, he also used is and it fixed his nfc issue.
http://www.4shared.com/zip/WMZoQj_P/LS_nfc_fix.html
I take no responsibility for any negative repercussions that may occur due to you flashing this zip.
Hope this helps
Happy flashing from the cat.
Who created this file and what's it do to fix NFC? I switched to liquidsmooth beta2 and it works now.

You just answered your whole problem. Could have saved us a lot of time. If gonna jump around on ASOP based roms **** gonna be broke.
I'm rather paranoid about the secure element and potentially frying it when switching ROMs. I always reset Google Wallet and clear data before I flash in a new /system or do a factory reset.
Possible NFC fix
The zip was downloaded from a thread in the verizon general QA section. Not sure if I could find the thread because it was a friend who directed me to the zip. Also I'm not certain what is does to fix NFC I just know that after flashing it wallet was working for me.

change to stock and i think it will work
This problem was resolved. It was liquidsmooth rc9 that was making my NFC not work. Switched to a different ROM and it worked. About to switch to rc9 and try the file in the post that a member posted in this thread though. Ls beta2 sucks!

Is the delay (and skip in music) when you turn the screen on still there in 4.3?
I got no root right, is it normal ?

Any hope of there being a "stable" release? The last one is on 4.1.2 as archaic as it seems! Lol how development flies. I know much work is being done on nightlies, but I would much prefer waiting for a stable release rather than questionable nightlies.

I'd imagine there will be before too long. With the 3.4 kernel worked out now development seems to be going a lot quicker now as rohan also pointed out. So I think it's likely that issues found in nightlies will be worked out sooner, and thus a stable build can be released.

They're not really "questionable". I think some people place too much emphasis on the nightlies being "unstable". Give it a few days and these nightlies will be working beautifully. I've flashed a whole bunch of nightlies that ran just as well as any stable build I've tried.

This is so awesome... I am still on CM10 given that it is the only build that works with AVRCP 1.3... Can't wait until this guy has it too (I guess it's built in by Google)?
Any ideas if fast charge would be in this kernel?
Thanks!

Same here. I think I saw that Koushik had to fix superuser for 4.3. It should be fixed in the next build, hopefully.

For those that have installed CM10.2, do you feel any performance has been gained over longer use considering 4.3 introduced the back-end ability to use FStrim? This would, in theory, take away that laggy feel that we all experience over time from writing and deleting material from our devices over and over.

is fstrim enabled for our device? an anandtech post mentioned that it was there in all the Nexus images. it would be really nice if it were in our builds
