Did you format the usb with ntfs, fat, exfat? Mine 926 works fine with any fat. With ntfs has not tried yet.

NTFS on MicroSD card?

Does anyone know if there will be a mod to allow use of a file system that supports large files like NTFS or exFAT? Currently the MicroSD can only be formatted as FAT32 (Sucks bigtime).
Yes it does. I've resorted to storing to the internal storage and external harddrives for now.

NTFS support android tablet?
You just need NTFS support in the kernel.
Most of the ROMs on this forum have this already. Install one of them.
NTFS works everywhere, even microSD card, on the Transformer.
Anyone know how to format a card to NTFS using android or honeycomb?

Interesting. I have a class 10 16gb microSD card, and I am pretty sure its formattet for fat32. I guess I will have to try and see if it becomes faster with NTFS

How can I find these ROMs?
Is there any ROM or kernel already made for X10 with Android 2.3.3 that supports NTFS?

We all love XDA and want to keep the threads organised so post your X10 queries in the X10 threads so this one doesnt get bogged down with irrelevant nonsense.

[Q] exfat not working

I'm just a beginner
Hi I'm using virtuous quattro rom rc3. when I formatted my microsd card to exFAT and my htc desire s shows damaged card and I've to reformat it to FAT32 so is there any solution for to make work exFAT on virtuous quattro rom?
I think you can't. exFAT is a proprietary filesystem, so noone can use it apart microsoft(wich is the owner of this FS). you can format your SDcard only in fat32 if you want to use it as a removable drive.
cheers!

no actually android support exfat when I was using exfat on htc stock rom it was just working fine
Update: my bad it wasn't exFAT but I hear android have implemented this file system but still in beta version
Really? I've never Tried it. Maybe the problem is that AOSP ROM don't support exFAT, we need someone who test that, I can't now, I'm on endymion.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Yeah I believe it has to be supported by the ROM/kernel. So HTC probably included support but the AOSP ROMs dont

Yes and I believe it can be implement into android but you have to be expert

and anyway I'm tired of 2gb limitation

I believe FAT32 has a limit of 4gb.

why the hell do you need a 2GB file on an android!?
And hope to see exFAT supported soon, way faster than 32/16 on windows

the only way to do so is to split your files with winrar (for example) to 2GB parts, till Android supports large file sizes

Can anyone confirm this works with the stock Jelly Bean ROM?
Would prefer not to waste the money on an unneeded cable if it doesn't.

It is working on stock JellyBean. But for me only 1 of 10 USB drives is working. There is somewhere thread with more info.
Is it a voltage problem? Did the leds light up on the nonworking thumb drives?
I use two USB3 8 & 16 gigs one fat32 and the other nfts.

The stock firmware is set up to mount external USB disks that are connected via external USB hub.
For CM, I've made a change so it works when connected straight via OTG cable - https://github.com/razrqcom-dev-tea...mmit/cd3c5915f646c6ff34771d0ba39209db1911c130
So on stock, the few USB disks that work without additional USB hub between the phone and the USB disk are the ones that implement their own internal USB hub.

[Q] Is there a way to allow tab 2 7 to read storage > 4GB via usb otg

My tab (GT 3100 running stock 4.1.2 on stock kernel) won't let me mount storage higher than 4 GB via usb otg.
Is there any way to enable it?

I have the same problem. Have been trying to connect several flash discs to my GT-P3100 (RIPPER ROM V3, 4.1.2) with the OTG USB cable.
Mostly the tablet did not react. After getting the same error as shown in your screenshot I had to disconnect the OTG cable from tablet(not only the flash disc) From 5 different ones only one worked (8GB FAT32), but not all time. The others are different capacity, but also FAT32.
Is there any problem in the Android 4.1.2 on this tablet regarding OTG?

Usb power hub and WD HD...

Hey guys..
I have a WD 1tb HD which iz self powered...
I want to use it with my tab 2 p3100
I understand that tab cannot supply enough power to the self powered HD..
I have made a Y-cable for the purpose...
The HD lights up and vibrates indicating that its receiving power but unfortunately it doesn't show up on the tab..
Then I felt the cable might be the reason and I brought a usb power hub...
Its exactly the same situation with the usb power hub as well..
Plze help me out with getting my HD work with the tablet...
I have searched a lot but couldn't get a proper way to get things going...
My tab iz rooted with sungsonic hd v2 running...
USB power hub iz iball lappie...
WD HD uses usb 3 but tab doesn't recognize it with usb 2 cable as well..
Share it if u know it...

You need whether the official Samsung OTG Dongle (expensive) or a OTG Cable you can find almost every where for some buks (Amazon, eBay, ...).
The standard charging Samsung cable is not compatible !
You also need the Y cable if you use a high power/capacity devices you can plug on any USB port such as a Laptop or on the main power supplier if you use a power USB hub that allow it.
Then you need an application that support Fatx, NTFS, and/or HFS such as the Paragon apps (free of charge).
Support for EXT3/EXT4 is another matter as I couldn't find a working one when I was using ICS 4.0.4, but I didn't retried since I'm using Jelly Bean. Maybe there are working now ??? ^^
You can use the same OTG cable to plug any USB keyboard/mouse or any other USB devices if the ROM do support them, or if you use a custom ROM that do support them...

Not necessarily.....
Needed hardware and drivers may be different or lacking.
USB support is defined within the kernel drivers. Native support may be different between Android devices and firmware.
For example, the P6800 4.1.2 JB supports USB for iPhone_4S, P6810 ICS does not. (Only up to iPhone_4)

As I said, it's just an example of USB support from kernel. Although similar, some kernels have various functions enabled, some don't.
Sometimes, changes (for support) need to be hard coded/added at the kernel source or just from config file before compile. This applies also to USB and OTG -A & -B devices.
OT, have enabled USB support for missing iPad & iPhone 5 in upcoming SkyHigh kernel 3.0.0 (untested)

As already said, at least from Tegra 2 Galaxy Tab there are support for OTG.
If you know any other Samsung devices that don't support it as stock, then specify...

Sorry, I think you missing my point/example.
I am talking about unsupported USB/OTG features and support for various peripherals. Not all are supported with stock kernel.
As a very basic example, take a look at any kernel .config file.

Can I please get to know how do I get my HD working...?
I have figured out that I'll have to modify my kernal as no existing kernel dev say that they can assure the HD working...
So which files have to be modified ?
