Hi All,
First off, my N5 is stock rooted, running Xposed Framework with Gravity Box, Xuimod and Unicon modules. I can't pinpoint the exact moment this started happening, but I'm pretty sure it was before I installed Xposed Framework. Anyways, check out the attached pics. I post this question here because I don't have this issue on my N7 2013, so I'm assuming (hoping?) that it's just an issue with the current Maps and the N5. It looks like the blue from the oceans appears like big jagged blobs over land. When I zoom in, it gets progressively better, but it's just kind of annoying when you're trying to look at a big area, and most of it's covered by the blue blobs. I've tried clearing cache and data for the Maps app, as well as reverting back to the factory version that comes on 4.4.2 (v7.4.0?). None of these helped. Is anybody else seeing these issues?

I get this same problem. Even on areas which I have saved for use offline!
are you using stock DPI, i had the same problem i was using 439 when i changed back to 480 problem fixed it self
I have the exact same issue, everything was fine a week ago, now its all glitched up. Older versions of Maps dont improve anything. Im also rooted and on 439 dpi with xposed etc.
Hah. Same story here 439 DPI.
I used Xposed module App Settings to change DPI to 480 in Google maps. Fixed.
EDIT: also, in case anyone is interested, I reverted LCD Density to 480, turned off the notification bar tweaks in Gravitybox, cleared data in Google Play Store then rebooted a couple of times. I got updates for Candy Crush and Instagram and was able to finally install Amazon UK app. All three seem to be incompatible with LCD_density 439
Wow! Thanks to everyone for replying! I feel kinda dumb right now. I, too, am using a DPI of 439. What's weird is I've been using 439 since I've had my Nexus, and have used Maps before and it was perfectly fine. Then, out of the blue, this started happening. After posting, I suspected the DPI as well, but when I changed it back to 480, it was still happening. I probably did something wrong last night, because when I reverted back to 480 this morning, it fixed the issue. I guess it's time to finally install App Settings in Xposed like outofthisworld to make sure it doesn't happen again. Thanks again to everyone. :good:

Hello, I've tried to figure this one out on my own, looking through threads and the net in general, if i missed the answer somewhere my apologies
Having said that, I was racking my brain trying to figure out why that app was fc'ing, all of a sudden. I tried resetting the rom and applying a new one, and the game would work fine each time, so I would get my tab back to the way I like it, with themes and such. i would go to play it and boom, stopped working again. On the last attempt i started realizing it was the themes. I thought it was because I had to change the dpi in the build.prop, and change it back, but I then found that if I changed the theme back to system it would work fine again. So, I'm curious as to what it is about custom themes that could cause just that app(on my tab anyhow) to fc.
This is mostly just a matter of curiosity, although it is a bit of a bother.
Thanks
Hi, CM 10.1. Out of the blue a lot of my apps seem to be crashing at random. this inckudes the stock browser packed into CM, Trebuchet, reddit and pretty much anything it seems. My phone has been 100% solid until recently with these crashes.
What usually happens is, i will notice black "slits" flash on the left and right corners/sides of my screen, about 1/2 my screen in total between the two slits, then my phone will freeze. It doesn't seem to want to knock out of this state unless I tilt my phone back to portrait (I'm always using it in landscape). None of the hardware buttons work during this, nor the lock button. Anyone have a clue as to what's up with this? I feel like something is wrong with the GPU. I haven't installed anything new lately other than game emulators; however it's not happening only when they are running.
Another thing to add, is that once it decides to be fixed, if I continue playing on say an emulator it will freeze again shortly after.
Fix permissions?
If that doesn't work, try un installing the emulators

Tried it. Actually installed a different kernel and updated the firmware as well. Still happened
A couple of weeks ago I started getting error popups, always at least two (dismiss the first then the same exact error pops up again) in a row, then usually a short pause followed by another two popups. It seems to mainly happen when I start on the move, particularily when driving, but then after the first one, or two sets, it won't happen again for a while. Every now and then it will happen at home when I'm on WiFi, but it's less than once a day that I see that. In case you can't see my sig, I'm running stock Kitkat 4.4.4 with Xposed & Gravitybox.
Steps I've taken to try to resolve this is, freezing various apps that I'd recently updated right before this started, installing both older and newer versions of Google Play Services (currently have 6.1.83), updated Google Play Store (5.0.32), cleared the data and cache of Google Play Store, uninstalled GPS updates (4.8.20), and updated to the latest Franco kernel version (r63).
Still the errors come up. Anything else I can try short of a factory reset? I'd rather not have to do that right before Lollipop, when I'll just be flashing over it again anyway.
the very first thing that you should have tried is completely remove xposed and anything that has to do with xposed. whenever you have an issue, and xposed installed, you cant really check anything else without removing xposed completely. xposed comes with many undocumented issues, it can break just about anything. so, if you have an issue, the very first thing is remove xposed.
I thought about that, but absolutely nothing was changed before the issue and after the issue. Earlier today I updated Gravitybox and a couple of other modules, but that didn't solve the issue. I suppose I'll try completely removing it, although I doubt that will fix anything since as I said, nothing in my Xposed framework had changed when I started having this issue.
Edit: Well slap my mouth and call me Sally. It's definitley an Xposed issue. Now I just need to narrow it down to which module is causing the problem. Thankfully it's not GB.
Thanks, simms22. I guess some change on a Google Services side must have had an issue with one or more of my installed modules. If I had to guess it is probably the "Disable Location Consent" module.
Simply reflash stock 4.4.4. Should end the issue. A fresh start. ?

its always what i ask ppl to do when i help, uninstall xposed first. if the problem still persists, then we try something else. and i swear to you, about 80% of the time its the xposed
So... I had no problems with my(second) idol 3, all was well and dandy. But recently the colours on the screen became more saturated, almost like an amoled display, followed by a significant decrease in performance. Nothing is changed, no root no nothing. Totally stock, except for the launcher. That would be Nova launcher and I used it since the day I got the phone with no problems. What the hell happened and has anyone else experienced this?
Random restart happened today and all my wifi passwords are lost.
in which app the colors are saturated? stock gallery app?
All over the phone. Not just the gallery. Perhaps the gallery is the fault for it?

i asked the gallery 'cause on my idol mostly (but not the only one) the gallery app that distorts color badly... have you tried a CM rom? in my case there is no color distortion on CM at all so the stock rom obviously has the wrong color balance settings
check this

Yeah, I know about the gallery app too. Can't really install a CM rom due to warranty, it's only two monts old. I'm sure that the problem can be solved with a full wipe but that is not the answer I'm looking for.

I doubt that a wipe can solve errors like this. I did it a few times, restored firmware with Mobile Q, color distortions on stock ROM never disappeared. Best experience was with Color Balance app from Play Store. It's just too expensive for my budget.
I have tried wiping cash but to no avail. The performance has slightly improved during the day but has returned back to garbage now. This is so annoying. Is there a way to check the "settings" for this without root? Maybe something in build.prop or such?

without root you can't do any really useful. if you don't want to install cm, check this app (earlier i made a mistake with its name):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.quickdoc.screenbalance&hl=en
If it can stop color distortion, at least you'll know that the phone hardware itself is correct, just the stock rom sucks.
-edit-
just read the new symptoms, at first i'd make a full reinstall with mobile upgrade q, if it doesn't solve anything, i'd go to a cm rom.
The problem seems to have fixed itself. I don't know what happened. All it's buttery smoothnes has returned after an accidental tap on the gallery app. The saturation has returned to normal too. I'll check out the app link for good measure. Thanks for all the help. How does one close a thread?
Guess I spoke too soon. The phone just did something of a restart. The whole boot animation happened but none of my open apps(gmail and chrome) have closed once it booted. Very strange.

that's normal, opened apps don't disappear from 'recent apps' after a reboot on lollipop.
however a reboot just from nowhere isn't normal.

I did not know that. Guess I will have to do the mobile upgrade q procedure. I'll give it a few days before I do that though.
Welp. I've given it some days and the problem has not returned. Also, a fun thing i didn't mention. This replacement idol 3 is not exactly the same as the previous one. For example the camera lenses had a green tint on the first one, but on this one they're blue. And the logo niw sits flush with the surface instead of being pushed more inside.
Hey guys. I've had this issue since October, and it's yet to go away. My app drawer in the Pixel Launcher is really choppy as I scroll. Whether I scroll quickly or slowly, it looks terrible. Tons of lag. I was hoping that this would go away with updates, but I'm now on 8.0 and still no difference. The only thing that seems to make it better or worse is the number of installed apps. The less in the drawer, the less it lags.
I've done some Googling, and it doesn't seem like an issue for anyone. Still, I thought I'd ask. Anyone else have this issue? Any idea how to fix it? Thanks.
Nobody?
Other than clearing cache and data under pixel launcher (settings-apps) and rebooting perhaps start with a fresh install

I know this is old but I figured out on my phone it was a setting for dashlane password manager. Turn off any settings that involve accessibility options for all apps... In dashlane I think it was called auto login for all apps. But I would assume similar options from other apps cause the same issue because it's a service that runs constant in the background.
I had a similar issue. My setup was, I installed the cracked ver. of Pix 2 Launcher on Pix phone all went well until I upgraded with the full OTA with month security patch. I tried going back to Pix launcher but got numerous FCs.
Eventually, I had make a clean wipe with factory image.
