Is it possible to port kitkat from One mini? The same hardware phone with the exception of resolution.
@Modding.MyMind
Oh yes it is, but the only thing is we do not have an active kernel dev.....that's the most important thing when porting is complete.....without kernel port also, the ROM might be a perfect port but the the kernel will not allow it to boot or connect data or bla bla bla....
Totally possible port, if we had a kernel developer that didn't have a real life with school, work, ladies.....Lol
Kernel is the same for both devices. Some config files differ and a few drivers. The most important thing is a right ramdisk.Thats all what we need.

Definitely possible if provided with the proper kernel. Only problem is the resolution. Would require going through all the apps and a lot of files and then resizing them for our resolution. That can take a very long time to do.
I dont agree. We could stay on our sense 5. And edit new kernel only.Maybe resize a few files in /APP
I think its not difficult to make it.
Cause we dont get KitKat its only one and simple variant to make it.

I see that services.jar use images from framework I think that can be possible use somethink like this attached files for images (images from SwitchPro).
The problems that I fount is that explanation says modify:
com/android/server/status/StatusBarService$31
but I think that on HTC sercives.jar is:
com/android/server/status/StatusBarService$5
There are a lot of things different but I can't understant for the moment.
Very good idea to develop, interesting and useful
Common: Galaxy S style power widget in notification bar - Pedlar

I believe these are in the CM nightlies.
It's not the same, but it might be useful.

CyanogenMod and HTC also have different framework-res.apk and services.jar, for this reason, it also easly portable from this
I'm looking for this on MIUI ROM but also, it has a lot of different code, something on common an something different. But seems to be more similar with HTC framework that Samsung Vibrant.
Another ROM without Sense here with the same MOD applyed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8761473&postcount=2431
its Defrost. Currently Nightly build of CM got it. Hope this got ported to sense though.
I don't know why, but this time i can't root jelly bean.
I already rooted two times in the past, but now i can't.
I upload the boot1.img, and then, when i'm on the black screen i run the script. And i let it there like an hour, and doesn't do anything.

I upload the boot.img again and i'm using the phone. So, the phone itselft works. But, i don't know what is happend.
Before you say anything, yes, i have the newest drivers.

Yes, but i already 'solved'
I think it was a damaged usb on my computer or something.
Great, just another thing, there are already enough threads for JB leak info and root, better if you just post your questions in those threads rahter than making a new one.. makes less of a clutter..

I was reading the specs of that device and, well it is not a very powerful device either.
Also I was reading the post and it says that the rom runs smoothly in that Phone
and i was wondering how it would Run in ours.
~ Any answers are appreciated
Thanks.
My quick look at it is that it is a Gingerbread ROM. If someone wanted to spend the time, it could probably be made to work.
Big "if" on that one, in my opinion, for a GB ROM. There are already several solid, stable, and well-proven GB ROMs out there for the SGS4G.

GB roms are the funnest to modify (for this phone, anyways).

They are!, they're the most stable and well, battery Life is still the best on GB for this device in my opinion
Im gonna give it a try and see how hard is to port this to our devices Xp
Well, speaking of GB... I've started on yet another cleanup kernel, except this time I'm getting some help from jeffsf.
Gonna post something in development here soon.

And make sure you give proper credits, or else kangs will be reported without hesitation.
I struggled a lot to get the correct files. And I am only expecting credits. I know my files and any useless excuses like i just looked into file names and used stock will not be entertained and will be reported.
SO MAKE SURE TO GIVE PROPER CREDITS...

The image file was initially like 400mb but in the process of getting it to work I added gcc and many other stuff that made it grow like to almost 2 Gb, but it is still smaller than official ubuntu xenial image.
Here is the download link for those that would like to test it:

Also for anyone interested I uploaded to GitHub some initial shell scripts that I wrote while trying to generate a working image. They need more work to automate the entire process since I discovered lot of stuff while working on this but they serve as a guidance for future work and to others that want to generate their own distro images.

Thank you for your efforts into bringing my favorite distro to LoD
I have a problem tho I can't seem to install any package successfully, it always ends up with this message : could not change the root directory (operation not permitted)
Any way to fix it ?
I have a not rooted Note 9 maybe that's the reason ?
