I've had this program for several years now and it works great! I know there are numerous thread for md5 checkers, but I see now reason not to share this with everyone. I have used all kinds of them in the past 20 years and they all work differently. This one is very simple and very self explanatory.

Hmm, looks simple enough. But you can just use Astro to check md5 sums lol.

I like to download the radio image straight to my sdcard from the web and check the MD5 hash right on my phone. That way I know it's correct and there are no errors copying. ManD5 works well for this, and its free on the Market. I'm sure there are others but its the one I've been using.

This isn't for your phone , and I didn't post it for use on your phone!
The radio image was an example. Obvious!
Also, more than obvious it's for use on a computer. I mean, this is the Development forum, is it not? I'm sure there's a few "Developers" here that could use this. I found it to be a quick accurate piece of code and figured I would share!

What's even more obvious is that you posted it in the wrong section. Notice that the rest of the topics are posting developed roms, kernels and mods?

CM7 nightly

I rooted my dinc and backed up the rom it was just as rooted. Now when I try to flash a new rom on it, the stock version comes on with the htc sense. I try and restore the default and it says MD5 miss match or something. Will this fix the problem?

The Exploit was released from UnRevoke & AlphaRev and Original XDA Thread. For many Android Devices that are mostly on Cellular carriers like Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon etc; But have not Rooted a Metro PCS device before until the opportunity presented itself.
I had asked ?'s and one them here at this LOCATION and reason for me to start this new thread.
The Guys at AndroidInvasion Send Credit's to UnRevoke & AlphaRev and used the Exploit to attain another easy root method called "One Click Root!"
I don't have too much experience with "Metro" Android Devices But willing to find out, the goal here, "Gain Root access and Tethering through 4G."
I first searched XDA and nothing on this model, asked questions and was told there is no forum for this model as of yet I will be honest and just say "It's Just Unpopular model?" So this lead me too post this thread since there is nothing on XDA, credits given above already.

***How to Root***
The website has a good host for downloads and your able to get both files needed from the link below.
1. Download Drivers and Install on your machine
2. I download the "windows" method since I am using XP(Supports 32 and 64Bit same file)
3. Extract and Run.bat file, done!
For Linux and Mac user's are still under construction the last time I was there, but could be wrong. If site files, links are broken mirrors down below.

If you wish to unroot your phone because you want to take into a MetroStore for repair or for whatever reason. On your phone settings go to Privacy and select Factory Data Reset. After doing this your phone will reset to factory state and will no longer be rooted.
Your Warranty has now been restored!

I remember doing one a while back with no problem but know i have this problem...

Firmware might be new as you stated, are you on the same as the info on the screen shot?

this worked perfect on my lg esteem version zvb.. if u have a zvc version you will have to downgrade it to root it . make sure u extract the root program to a folder on your desktop and then run the program

So, now my phone appears as if it came with JB out of the box. I have no root and it's running smooth as butter! Love, love, love it.
Can someone describe the current state of my phone? I know that sounds like a stupid question -- and it likely is -- but I can't understand how I have JB yet not rooted.
And two issues I need help resolving:
1) USB connection to my Mac. I used to have some issues on out-of-the-box ICS but Android File Transfer app solved those issues. Now that doesn't even pick up the connection.
2) Wifi Tethering. If there is a rooted solution for my setup, I need to if root guides are safe to follow with the current state of my phone.
-Obviously a newb... but lots of love and respect to the developers out here who make life so much easier for all of us normal folk.

I'm running 4.1.1 too and love it. I'm not rooted either or unlocked.
Android file transfer no longer works with the GS3. I have a Mac too and I'm not happy that I can't transfer files easily.
A lot of people on these forums will tell you about alternatives but honestly, they all suck. Android file transfer was amazing. Only thing we can hope for is a new version from Google...

i guess i can use bluetooth for the one off file transfers. But if down the road I need to get in there for more heavy lifting I'll need to fix that.
Most importantly though - no wifi tether on 4.1.1 for Verzon gs3's ?

I got the other issues fixed except google search is not returning a voice response.

Make sure to backup internal sd and ONLY use the full wipe versions in odin.

Rec'd update to 5.0 on ATT Note 3 today

I just received an OTA update on my AT&T Note 3. I now have Android version 5.0, broadband version N900AUCUEOC1, kernel version 3.4.0-4335446. Surprised. I heard the Note 4 was getting 5.0 today, but I didn't expect it on my Note 3.

Any idea how to get the update if I'm not on my original carrier (AT&T) ? I am not sure they will push it over Cricket even though they own it!

Don't ye worry, here are some XDA basics:
1. The big Android OEMs make several versions of their phones which have different bands and 3/4G frequencies. That is not the only difference. I have a Note 3 N9005, you have Note 3 N900A. They look the same, feel the same, made by the same OEM.
When you begin tinkering with their software, you should consider them as ABSOLUTELY different devices. Your variant is rooted in a different way from mine. Your phone supports different ROMs from mine.
That's why for Samsung phones (especially) there are 4 to 5 actual forums, one for the international version(s) of the phone, and one for each US carrier. And the Verizon and AT&T Samsung phones usually have locked bootloaders and are difficult to achieve even root access on them.
2. Read before you flash anything, read the WHOLE threads.
And when you think you're ready for action, read it all over again.
THEN consider doing stuff.

[Development] Stack Clash EoP Exploit -- Android Edition???

I'm just gonna leave this here.
A few days ago, the source for the EoP (escalation of privilege) exploit, codenamed "Stack Clash," was released. If you don't already know, this exploit has the ability to elevate the user running the code to an administrator without any authentication. Now, this is bad for general Linux users, but for Android users with a locked bootloader and/or no way of rooting their device, this is actually pretty good.
There's only one problem: the security firm who released the code said that they haven't tested the code on Android devices, and, therefore, don't know if it works on the OS or not.
I have been trying to get the exploit to work on my OnePlus 3 phone, but with no luck. Here's what I have done so far, which you can see posted in the attachment below:
Ported the x86_64 setuid(0)/setgid(0)/execve() shellcode to aarch64/arm64 (la.c)
Changed the settings a bit to point to the /system partition
Created a Android 7.1.1 target for my OnePlus 3
This code does have a couple problems, however. First, the code utilizes the library ld.so for its exploit. Problem is, Android does not have this file, but instead has an executable called "linker" in /system/bin. And second, I'm not sure if I got the vDSO vvar right (can somebody check that?). I am somewhat of a newbie when it comes to this stuff, but I've been getting better!
If anyone wants to pick this up or help out, be my guest. Just keep in mind that it eventually may not work the way we want it too. I'm also not saying this is the new Dirty-COW as of now, but if we work on it some, maybe it'll get close.

False. He made recowvery but did not find the dirty cow exploit used in it.

Right he was the founder of using the exploit to gain root on the device. I apologize I wasn't technically correct

This might be better suited for the security board

I've been working with a few script programs as well, that may or may not use said exploit. I don't have links available, but google: LARE Exploit. I'm on an Amazon Fire HD 8 and I can pretty much get what I need using Termux, but it's a real pain figuring out what I need to compile through Termux to get LARE at least responsive.
I'm not sure if I was partially successful or if cooking around with trying to disable and break Amazon apps worked, but I ended up at a factory reset again. But all apps, system included were wiped to 0.00. If I went into all info, every number for data, scars and etc was 0.00. And it showed. In had only been using about 2.2 gigs after this, of space prior to reset. So nonetheless I've been able t9 wipe the data of every app in system and user, WITHOUT root, but I couldn't tell you how and I don't know if I'd be able to repeat it. There's not a lot of info on the web on why this happened. I got lucky. Most people suffered irreparable damage to internal storage. I'm there cases they also had 0.00, but their internal storage was actually maxed out. I actually managed to delete mine.
