Stock Gallery or Quickpic Replacement for CM 11 - Android Apps and Games

Its fair to say that the Android 4.4 Stock Gallery is literary useless. CM Gallery Next is a fair choice. Quickpic is great but looks bland. But I still need a gallery app with Quickpics performance with much more simple intuitive user interface which has the editing functions of Stock Gallery. Not a photo editing app like Snapseed or Pixler but an app which has everything. A simple looking, eye catching user interface with more performance.
If there are any apps, please mention them..

It's a nicely themed version of the stock gallery. includes all editing features and whatnot as they are identical except for appearance.
To get it just search for an apk or zip and flash.

[Request] - Stock 3D Gallery and DeskClock

So I will try to organize this thread so most important stuff (request) is on top, and my rant/explanation of why I want this done will follow. Warning: I know I tend to use a lot of run-on sentences...I'm just long winded
Attached are two stock (I presume) .apk's that I pulled out of Cyanogen's ROM that I have installed on my stock 2.1 ROM. I prefer these two apps vs. the HTC versions, but each have one small issue.
1) - DeskClock.apk will FC if you hit the Music shortcut. I am assuming that this is something simple, like it's trying to call up the wrong program? Can this be written to launch the HTC Music App, hopefully eliminating the FC?
2) - Gallery3D will FC if you try to launch the camera from within the app. I am once again assuming (more hoping, really) that it's trying to launch a camera app that doesn't exist in the stock ROM. Can this be written to launch the HTC Camera app, hopefully eliminating the FC?
I would try myself, but after downloading and installing Eclipse, JRE and the Android plug-in, I still feel like this is over my head at this point, as all I have is very limited Visual Basic experience. Would someone mind doing me a favor and updating those apps are reposting them in this thread so that myself and other like me can use those on our stock 2.1 ROMs? It would be much appreciated
Now for the rant:
I see a lot of people with differing opinions on HTC's Sense. Personally, this is my first Android phone, and I have found that I actually like SOME of the Sense apps. I dont really have a problem with the launcher (though I have replaeced it with ADW.Launcher), and I feel that apps such as People, Camera, and Phone are somewhat superior to what I presume are the stock Contacts, Camera and Phone apps, respectively. And then I wonder why HTC created some of the other apps they did that seem somewhat....lacking.
1) The "Photos" app is very boring and plain. I mean, I appreciate the Flickr and Facebook integration (which would be useful IF I used them), but why could they not have just added this functionality to the already awesome 3D Gallery? I would rather use the stock Gallery app, and even though the file I attached (see:Gallery3D.apk) doesn't have a functioning camera botton, I still prefer it to the Photo app. Plus, it pulls in my Picasa photo albums
2) The DeskClock app HTC included on the incredible is fine for the most part, but I don't like the small clock font and the fact that it takes FOREVER to launch, whereas the stock DeskClock.apk is instant to load, has a much larger font, and does other things I like better; like keeping my wallpaper visible, and is softer to the eye. Once again, I appreciate the added features of HTC's clock (Worldclock, Stopwatch, Timer), but I don't use them enough to make me like this program more than the stock one.
So that is why I am asking for those to be edited so they'll run on my stock ROM. At least until we start seeing some FroYo love
Also, if anybody knows, why did HTC replace the Messages app with one that exchanges the ability to set conversation limits (e.g. 200 messages, then auto delete) with one that uses Facebook for contact icons? I still use the HTC Messages app cause I like the pictures transferring over from Facebook (or the People app, which is updated by Facebook, and hence why the People app I like BETTER than stock), but why leave out any message bulk control? Anything over two or three hundred and my phone really starts taking a long time to open the conversation...
Alternately, once CyanogenMod's ROM becomes more stable, I would love to switch to it if I could bring some of the Sense apps along. Those would be:
1) People - with fully functioning updates and photo shortcuts to Facebook and Flickr
2) Camera - I like the added features...and the fact that it already supports 8MP, whereas (as of CM5.0.8 Test1, anyway), the camera app would only do 3MP
3) Phone - again, with correctly synchronizing contact pictures and speed dial, just like in our stock ROM.
I haven't actually tried pulling these out of the stock ROM and installing them in CM5, but I'm assuming I'd run into issues with the Facebook/Flickr sync...

attached is a gallery apk that doesn't have the camera issue. and also I attached the stock music apk that is need for deskclock.
Anything from Sense requires the htc framework which you are not going to find in any Cyanogen or vanilla ROM and there is no work around.
The vanilla DeskClock apk (with working music button) and 3D Gallery (with working camera button) already exist in other threads in this forum. Just search for them. You will also find both of those apps in any plain vanilla or cyanogen rom that is made.
As for the phone and contacts, the vanilla ones are much better imo than sense. You will not miss the lag.

Thanks jitajt! Those fixed my problems. Im getting to the point where I'm fairly satisfied with everything about the phone. Just got Hydra's OCUV+N kernel installed and it's working great.
I have the opposite request of this thread actually; I need the HTC DeskClock files from a stock 2.1 sense ROM. Would anyone be able to post it please? Thank you in advance!
I miss having the timer and stop watch functionality that comes with it. My laundry always winds up sitting in the washer and dryer far too long without me setting a timer
Hello. I did a search for AOSP DeskClock and this is the only promising thread I found. I'm using an HTC CDMA Hero. Does anyone know if this is or isn't safe for me to use?
Also, do I just push to /system/app?
I don't know about you guys.. but the sense gallery loads up MUCH FASTER than this gallery 3D. UNINSTALLED
I have both apps in my rom and are runing fine

Camera FC
Hey Thanks jitajt!
I've been trying to get this to work on my samsung spica for a few days now.
But now the camera button (upper right) is giving me an FC error. It's because the camer app I have is SamsungCamera.apk NOT the stock camera app.
Could you provide the stock camera.apk for android 2.1?
Thanks.

Default Android Gallery App

I've recently made the switch to a real android phone from my hd2 constantly running fairly smooth android and something I've noticed in both phones, in both different eclair and froyo roms, is that while the default gallery app has a pretty ui it is awful as an actual photo viewer. The hd2 running wm had a great picture viewer with great adaptive zooming so I find it highly disconcerting that a superior os like android could butcher such a vital feature. Just zooming into any photo on my vibrant is a nightmare quite honestly. Even at no zoom pictures look bad and nowhere close to their actual level of detail.
So in short, I was wondering if this was a known issue of the cooliris gallery app and if there are any good photo viewers for android which provide pinch-to-zoom while also not emaciating my precious pictures? I've tried a bunch of android market picture viewer apps but most were even worse or provided no functionality at all.

Bump for photo app suggestions?

I think that there is a problem with the rendering of pictures with the gallery, but I can't remember where I found it out...
Try out:
'JustPictures!' and 'Floating Image' from the market.
EDIT - Found out the reason here:

Try Large Image Viewer http://www.appbrain.com/app/image.viewer
I'm using Multi Touch Gallery too - works a treat

Well I tried all the suggested apps but so far l.i.v is my favorite. Its ui is a bit boring and its a bit lacking in features but it's the best at doing what image viewers are supposed to; view images. But thanks for all the suggestions!

What photo Gallery do you use?

Since 3D Gallery drains the battery, What do you use?
I've found Gallery+, any experiences on this version?
https://market.android.com/details?id=uniqueName.photoAlbumManager&feature=also_installed
There's also Photo Gallery Fish bowl, looking promissing

I believe Quickpic is the Gallery replacement of choice:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder&feature=search_result
I'm going to try it myself now as i'm sick and tired of the default Gallery!
i use the normal one
I prefer the one in HTC Sense to a stock gallery. The 3D Google one is problematic and slow.
I just tried Quickpic and love it. It has all the simplicity of the Sense gallery and is a bit faster at loading.
As DarkGently1 already mentioned, Quickpick is a good choice. It's got a clean UI, you're able to hide specific pictures and folders and more features.
hum
I have QuickPick, very great
Installed and...loving it so far. Yes the default Gallery has pretty effects but Quickpic is just so much faster and easier to use. The additional features are useful without being unnecessary bloatware too.
I'm using HTC different photo gallery...
I want to use another one but it seems the stock one is the fastest..
I use the standard gallery on my phone. Think it works quite well.
I like to say hello to everyone as well, since this is my first post!
I am not much of a believer in replacing default apps, but, on using Quickpic, I just had to shift. It's that good, and, on a low end device like my Wildfire, the difference over anything else (Including CM Gallery 2D - Gallery 3D doesn't work) is as big as night and day.
Sold on it completely, and its definitely for keeps.
normal one
Quickpic is one of the best
QuickPic is very fast and a great app for local images. I use gallery3d on my phone, as I have a large number of picasa web albums, and those integrate well with gallery3d. Last version of QuickPic that I used did not support the online galleries... *however* it's blazing fast!
yes, we must wait for next release of quickpic
how about droidiris?
HTC Desire's stock gallery.
Yes, quickpick is the best out there and I've tried a few.
For now I use stock gallery3D from cyanogenmod 6.3.0 for milestone but I will try quickpic as soon as I solved the problem that market sees my device as not compatible with most apps.
Quickpic works for me.
I like Mui for both the camera and the photo gallery on the DINC.

lockscreen widgets

With Android 5.0 without an option its there an alternative...
Lockscreen widget was very useful, sure we know got notification and improved lockscreen there where tons of thing that widget can bring like a calculator without unlocking a phone or a flashlight those useful stuff that normally google wouldnt add
Yes i agree, it seems that Google want to make Android simple to use for a average user and not have to use extra features. (just a guess)
If Google is really aiming for that then why there are bunches of separate app that does the same thing, eg hangout and messenger and Photo app require G+? There is no simplicity but more of a invasive apps. Take it for example, the Photo app is very unorganised, it is hard to tell which image is taken from camera/downloaded or from whatsapp/other social networking app and you're required to login G+ to access "Highlight" section. They dumped old organised AOSP Gallery app over Photo app and confuse people with too many apps, so i'm not really sure how is this really helping Android users if Google aims for simplicity...

Android 8 Oreo Gallery

Hello,
I recently flashed Android Oreo on my OnePlus One (LineageOS 15) and I noticed that the gallery built-in app looks like the Android 5 one. It really lacks in design which surprised me. I installed open gapps and everything and just wanted to ask if the built-in gallery app is supposed to be Google Photos for ANdroid 8? I really don't like the layout of Google Photos and to be honest the built-in gallery is extremely fast. I tried different gallery apps like Simple Gallery or Piktures which have stunning design and layout but still... built-in gallery is super fast at loading photos.. Yes, even faster than Google Photos.
If I am missing something can you please link me to an apk of the Android Oreo gallery? If what I have now is the actual gallery.. well shame on you android 8.. there is literally no design to it.. it's like the only app that feels like has been left behind.. Phone, contacts, messages and all the rest of built-in apps have an updated material-design and all... except the gallery.
Thanks
You have to flash OpenGapps Stock version to get gallery replaced by Google Photos app.

I don't want to have Google Photos to replace the built-in gallery. I don't like Google Photos cos built-in gallery is better and faster.. just lacks in design and I was wondering if it is the correct gallery and just stayed outdated..
Is google photos supposed to replace it? Is that why they don't update it anymore?
Which rom did you flash give me a link
