[Root] Proscan PLT7777G - Android General

Having found no articles on how to root this tablet, I tried a few ways to get it done. The quickest and problem free way was to use a program called Kingo. Had my tab rooted within a few minutes. Installed Titanium backup and Online Nandroid which both got root access right off. Did a nandroid backup and now looking to install some sort of recovery. Preferably Twrp. I'll post once I get something going.

I have a friend who has this tablet and is having issues with it freezing and getting hot, etc...
I am very interested in anything you are able to find/do with rooting this, as well as custom recovery

Thunderbolt - How to confirm root?

I just performed the manual root on the HTC Thunderbolt. I was able to get all the way to Step 9 without any problems. Downloaded Superuser and ROM Manager and successfully flashed ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM).
How can I confirm whether or not the root was successful?
Now I am trying to use Titanium Backup and it says that it cannot obtain root access?
I remember one hiccup in the rooting process. When I was on step 6, I typed adb reboot bootloader. As it was flashing the ROM PG05IMG.zip, it had that list of 9 parameters. I don't remember what all of the were called. However, I got OK on all of them except for the 7th or 8th parameter (I think it was tp). Instead of OK, it got BYPASS.
Is that a problem?
With assistance from #andirc, I figured this out.
I had root access the entire time.
Using Titanium Backup, it asked for BusyBox. That was the problem. I simply went to the Market, downloaded and installed busybox. Then Titaniumbackup worked.
Checking root access is done simply by going to the market and downloading root checker.
I answer my own questions in threads just in case anyone else runs along this problem in the future and needs help! Otherwise, this thread can be deleted.

[Q] Rooting the Charge

Alright, so I've been reading the forums and trying to keep up with everything going on with Charge development...but I'm still lost. I want to root my phone, as my old fascinate was rooted and I really liked having titanium backup, but never could get CWM to work on it. I don't know why, I followed the directions but only soft-bricked it a couple of times, so I gave up.
With the Charge, from what I understand, I can use Odin to go back to ED1 and then root from there. OR I can use Odin to flash a custom rom that will root ED2 and add CWM recovery...I think.
One thing I've seen is that I need to create my own backup in Odin before I attempt any of this, but to do it I need to be rooted so I'm not sure how to handle that situation either.
I've read the forums and I've done my research, but I still feel like I'm missing *something* as to how I can root the phone, what my problem with CWM was, and more importantly- how to create a backup? For instance, I keep seeing things about nandroid, but can't find anywhere to create a nandroid backup or any information other than people saying to use nandroid.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Nandroid only comes from CWM AFAIK. what I did was just install JT's root/CWM/voodoo via ODIN and then did a backup that way. then no matter what I did I could at least get back to that and then restore to a ED1 downgrade if I had too. You are right, other than using Back Up Pro, you cannot do an Odin backup without being rooted.
Good Luck

I'd also like to Root mine for the use of Titanium and some other root only apps but I don't want custom, buggy ROM's or getting stuck with a downgraded devce that can't be upgraded....or worse, bricked from the hack.
Hopefully before long there will be a one click root for stock ED2 rom users.
.
Thanks! I'll give it a shot tonight and see how it goes!

[Q] Can't root galaxy tab plus..

My husband has been trying all day to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus, using the software provided here in the forums. I have superuser, clockwork, and nothing works. I installed a root checker and as I suspected, my rooting attempts have all failed. My husband has tried just about every single root link on the forums. We're really new to the rooting world, in fact we have never rooted anything before this, so it's all new to us. I'm sick and tired of the bloatware on my tablet, and tired of having an SD card that I can't use the way I want.
I already had ICS on the device before trying to root, so I don't know if that is why the root is not working properly. Any advice would be fantastic! I'd rather not try to do this alone and brick a $400 tablet. We followed every single step on these forums to root, and it seems like it's a bit more technical than what xda makes it out to be. I'm not looking to use ROMS or whatever...just looking to get rid of bloatware and be able to put my app's on my SD card.
Have you been able to successfully install the custom recovery? (ClockworkMod)

Is that your exact device and what you're trying to do ?

What is CWM,SuperSu and CWM Recovery for and do?
do i need to do these.
also i am on version android 4.4.2 stock version. should i update to a newer version. and is it safe to update?
also if so how or which programs should i use to root device.
also whats the top 10 suggested apps to get.
what should i update too? and what is the worth of updating? any better performance in device?
i use to have an apple device but every-time it got updates it got slower so i am curious.
tl;dr CWM is short for ClockWorkMod (a brand name),
CWM Recovery is a more lenient recovery image/firmware that allows you to flash other people's ROMs on your tablet,
and SuperSU is one of many root management tools that acts as a security gateway, alerting you when apps try to access root.

I have 4.4.2 and won't go to lollipop. too many issues. I used towelroot to root and did the volume tweak and that's about it.
I would suggest these tool Apps - SuperSU, Titanium Backup, ES File explorer, NextApp, SDFix, SD Maid, Avast Security, Malwarebytes
Here's towelroot if you want to try it----------

How do I backup/restore stock recovery?

Hello, I have a Exynos S7 running on Nougat, and I'm getting ready to install TWRP. However I'm trying to find a way to make encryption work on a rooted device, so I need to restore the original recovery image after I root and everything. Where can I find the .img? I read somewhere that TWRP will make a backup of it, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I've also looked online and I haven't found any backups.
I got it to work a very long time ago on a previous S7 running Marshmallow, but that's been a long time and I don't remember how I did it, I just remember that I used CF AutoRoot for the rooting process.
I know I won't be able to use systemless root, but theres nothing I can do about that.
Thanks
