YES!!! It will take a long time to flash...did not hang. Just needs time
I will have custom ROM up later tonight.
I will have custom ROM based on International version once it is released and I can get my hands on the KDZ or TOT. This way we do not have to deal with CarrierIQ.
Thanks for this, awesome work.

Yes!!! You are THE MAN. Thanks so much.
Are you using the aboot from one of the 10x builds? I am pulling the ROM down now but I am concerned that installing this will update my aboot and make it so that going back to a different kernel/ROM will be difficult. I am not all that up on LOKI so perhaps this is just a dumb post :/.
What if we are on the unrooted KitKat ota? Just flash this? Or downgrade, then flash recovery and then flash this?

when you use lg flash tool to go back to an older firmware, it replaces your aboot with that firmwares aboot. so you have nothing to worry about.

Ah, OK. So if I'm running houstonn's PA ROM I can't just go into TWRP, wipe everything, and flash this ROM? I first have to downgrade to stock 10d, etc?

If you have a custom recovery just flash both rom zip and superuser. No need to downgrade unless you have stock recovery.

I have a rooted Verizon S3 that is currently on 4.1.1 VBRBLK3, I would like to upgrade it to 4.1.2 VBRMF1. I understand that I can use Odin to do a full rom flash however but I don't want to go that route, I would like to use the apply the update using the recovery option . In order to do this, do I need to appy the updates in sequencial order? Like update it to VBRMB1 first and then VBRMF1 or I can apply VBRMF1 directly to VBRBLK3?
Thanks,

Since its a rooted zip, it will upgrade the software to VRBMF1. Your baseband (Settings/About Phone/Baseband) will still read VRBLK3 so you'll need to flash the firmware that Sandman-007 just posted about. As I said before, this will only work if you are rooted AND unlocked. If you haven't unlocked your bootloader then do not try this method.
To answer your initial question in your first post, you can take the OTA which will unroot your device. You can then use Casual by beanstown106 to root/unlock again.

I think I have found both files now. Just to be sure, these 2 files are:
I535VRBMF1_I535VZWBMF1_VZW.zip (around 820MB)
d2vzw_VRBMF1_firmware.zip (around 20MB)
Does it matter which one I do it first?

Looks about right. The flashing order does not matter. I prefer to flash separately with a boot into the rom between flashes whereas others would flash all at once. Personal preference really.

I'm currently running Hyperdrive RLS 16 and want to know if it is possible to go to [Rom][d2vzw][Official][Kitkat - 4.4.2] - Gummy - Nightly's?
Do I just need to follow the instructions or is there more files I need to change within the phone? Basically, I want to know if it will be a simple transition.
Thank You!

You should be just fine. Just install like any other ROMs. Don't forget to wipe Data. Make sure you update your recovery to the latest version first BEFORE FLASHING since gummy is Kitkat. This is very important.

I'm mistaken...badly. You need to be on TWRP 2.6.3.1 in order to flash any KitKat rom. That's what I'm on. KitKat roms will not flash on anything before TWRP 2.6.3.1.

Funny I had the same question..
I was going to pose the same question.. Ironically I'm on Hyperdrive RLS 16 also and am either going to the last carbon nightly or maybe something 4.4 ?
My question was do I need to flash the MF1 firmware, but I guess not ?
I loved carbon when I used it before ( last was v 1.7 stable ) but had to flash to stock/TW base to flash my phone to PagePlus and TW is waaaay to clunky for me I can't stand it anymore !!
Edit: Would the new PhilZ work for a KitKat rom ? the new official one ?

Clean flashing is recommended if you don't want to have any issues.
But you're free to dirty flash over an existing nightly if you don't want to clean flash. However, any issues you get are your own issues and should not be reported in the Gummy thread.

Thats what i thought but wasn't %100 sure because mine is VRLHE. Should i flash it anyway to M1 modem only will i get better speeds and is the radio better. Eventually im going to flash 4.3 or 4.4 just waiting for a daily driver.
So my last s3 stopped working and I got a new one sent via my extended warranty. Previously I had an unlocked bootloader and root running gummy 4.4 which was awesome! My new phone came stock with 4.3 touchwiz which I am reading might be bad news. So here are my questions:
1) Is there really no way to unlock the bootloader on 4.3?
2) What are my alternatives to installing custom roms?
3) Is safestrap a stable/safe option even though its in beta?
4) Can safestrap be reversed if a method for unlocking the bootloader is revealed?
5) Where can I find a rooting tutorial for 4.3? Can I lose root easily/ corrupt my phone if a Samsung update is applied?
6) Should I wait for a downgrade option? Slash is it supposedly possible (twitter update)?

Yup, you could even Odin flash VRUCML1 4.3 tar and be back to "normal" again. However, don't count on the 4.3 bootloader being unlocked. There's no guarantee anyone is even utilizing their time to find an exploit and its entirely possible no one is.

I think flashing a custom kernel isn't suggested with SafeStrap. I don't know the specifics, maybe @BadUsername or someone else can expand on that? I thought I read that you are still running the stock kernel even if you flash a custom kernel when using SafeStrap. Someone was discussing this before but it was not explicitly proven they were in fact running the custom kernel.

NHA only, see the OP. I just updated it.
Changed back to the original instructions to get to NHA for now untill I have some more time to make or get the proper firmware for a easier upgrade.
Anyone got some success getting the NHA Kernel to boot on the Dev. Ed. S5 ?
I installed Misterxtc's zip file from the OP and it worked fine, but I notice it didn't install the NHA kernel. When manually installing the NHA Stock Kernel from here the phone do not boot (stayed on the Galaxy S5 and Padlock screen).
I tried installing the NHA modem and NON-HLOS.bin, but I got the same results.
Any ideas ?
