Hello Guys, so i updated the Phone to Kit-Kat 4.4.2 say the dayt iy was released. This is the Indian Build, i have the XT1033 Dual Sim got it from flipkart.
I have a small problem now just realized it yesterday. i was trying to click a photo from whats app, the camera app crashes. I tried opening the camera from the Native Motorola Camera app it still crashed so i restarted the phone. It was fine after that. Today afternoon i randomly opened the camera and it crashed again.
I was wondering if anyone has the same issue? Its a bug or what??
That aside the phone is awesome
Same problem here with my French XT1032. Dunno what to do to solve the problem. i clear the cache, I force closed the app but it didn't change anything. It seems to appear randomly...
Anyone solved this issue?
restarting the phone usually fixes it. dunno the cause though.

Camera Error!
Hi there!
I am from Pakistan. I too am having the same problem. Message is "Camera error". Camera app does not start.
Any help?
Clear the cache of the camera, also might be some "flashlight" app causing this, or even some other function that used your camera but did not complete the process.
Dunno if this helps but Chrome has a setting for the camera, might want to turn it off. The setting is found in Content settings.

I attached the content page settings screenshot . can't find any camera options to turn on/off
Factory reset ? No lol.
I'll try to dump logcst nextime .
Thank Goodness I am not the only one lol.
Ye its obvious someone (some app) doesn't close the resource and hence the crash so only logcat will help here. Waiting for the app to crash now.

That's odd, I have that option below Block pop-ups since Jelly Bean.
Happened this to me twice now prolly in a span of two weeks. I dont know whats causing it. I tried to force start the camera app but did not help. I need to restart my phone.

Moto G Camera issue
Same problem with my Moto G. I purchased it on launch day in India through flipkart.
Happened this to me many times. I tried to clear cache and force stop the camera app but did not help. Restart my phone is the only option. I have been seeing this issue before and after updating OS to KitKat

british moto g from phones4u getting camera error
Problem is some app that use camera. Flashlight, skype and similar
Sent from my XT1032
bump. So do I.
it happens because of resource lock on Camera due to Skype, etc.
So either you reboot to release the camera resource OR, you can install Camera MX. It can automatically force-release the camera resource when needed, so saves time on reboot
Hi all,
I have that issue too. It's KK bug.
Who want/need more info can follow Motorola Forum at https://forums.motorola.com/posts/1c9979e184?page=1

I and a coworker who also has a transformer have experienced an issue with the camera. When changing from normal camera mode to panorama mode the camera fails to initiate and doesn't turn on. It's just a black screen.
Anyone else run into this same issue ? It happens vice versa also, from panorama to camera or to video.

So how do we report this bug officially to Asus is the next question.....

Did you update using CWM? I don't have this bug and I updated from OTA.
Same here
Completely stock, B90, SBK2, OTA update. Panorama closes camera app.

Clearing the camera app's cache allowed me to actually use the camera again.
hope Asus (or devs) fix this, would really like to be able to use panorama mode
For the record, I flashed the rooted zip posted here.
It's fine for me. I used the Full CWM file along with a Format...not a wipe
Same issue here, stock unrooted, OTA update B50.

If the rest of the stuff works it's absolutely not worth it trying to fix it. The picture quality it makes is just crappy. Maybe it's the lighting or I am turning it too fast. This is how it looks like.
Same bug here.
B6O
CWM rooted ics.. wiped all
I never use the camera so happy to wait for fix from Asus..
think we need more detailed info to pin this down because i'm not having this issue with my tf. weird that several of you are.
Workaround Fix for Panorama Bug
The panorama camera bug is related to security>screen lock feature in ICS.
I did a full wipe to get the camera working and then I realized it only stopped working after I had set a pin on it.
Apparently if you set it as a pattern, pin, or password it will cause the panorama feature to lock up.
The only way to get it working is by setting your security>screen lock to "none" or "slide".

Wow, good diagnosis. I'll have to try that see if I can also replicate this fix. Unfortunately I need to use a pattern or some sort of lock code. Prying eyes lol. Oh well. I don't really use my tablet as a camera anyways. I just wanted to show off panorama to someone

confirmed.
I put a pattern and when switching to panorama the camera went black then crashed as I switched to normal.

I can confirm panorama worked after removing the PIN feature. I chose the security locksreeen option of None without issue. When I turned PIN back on, it was the same black screen. According to logcat, I didn't see much other than the camera activity being destroyed an activity pause timeout for the PanoramaActivity.
Such an odd thing to cause camera activity to cease. Why in the world is a lockscreen causing issues with switching camera modes? Oh well. Like I said. I can live with it, hopefully a fix is found and pushed to our devices

Sorry bro no.
The best thing about this phone is the camera and It's flawless on my end.

Happened to me the other day, it crashed out 3 times, restarted phone, it crashed again then HTC error report came up, sent in and the camera worked.. That was last saturday, hasn't happened again.
why is that so !?
in my view its definitely a software issue, some difficulty between the camera hardware and the software, cuz i tried the restoring to default factory settings and it did work out well, camera started workin but after some time like 4 days same issues again !!!!!!! ??????? plss
have you tried clearing the cache of the camera app?
mine working flawlessly. have no such issue yet.
I had the same problem, first i heard strange sounds from the focus, a mechanic like.
After few reboots and testing suddenly the camera doesn't start.
A lot of reboots later i finished doing a factory reset.
It worked for a day, then again the same problem.
But i find the problem, my camera doesn't work with 8mp settings it auto close, btw with 1920x1080 in camcorder works but doesn't record the video.
I've just remember that problems start after installing lgcamera i think.
EDIT: after trying root without unlocking bootloader (i read it works) following this tuto ww.briefmobile.com/how-to-root-htc-one-x-att now i can use 8mp and full hd video recording. it's annoying
EDIT 2: now it isn't working anymore
the same thing exactly happens to me every time i restart the phone, the cam app opens
makes some strange noise like trying to fucos or something, then the app closes with no error. and when u try that again, after 4-5 times the app doesnt open at all
!!! contacted with htc they said reset the phone, i did but same things again, contacted again and they said go to our store , but my phone is guarantyless cuz i rooted it

Just lock your boot loader and restore stock Rom and you'll be good. A lot of people have traded their phones in this way.

Hello. The camera on my Droid Maxx worked week and stopped. Factory reset does not help. Flashing to custom firmwares does not help too. Replacing the camera module is also not helped. In this and can be a problem and how to fix it? Repair under warranty can not, because not possible to send the phone in US. I`m have Developer Edition, and therefore I can flash than required.

Well, you need to be a lot more specific in order to get helped. When you say "worked week and stopped" - what exactly does that mean? What happens when you try to open the camera? Any error messages? Anything opens at all? Does it attempt to open but force closes? Have you tried installing Google Camera from play store?
Provide more details

Sorry for the little information in first post.
The first week the camera worked as it should. The second week when focusing image "broke" and displays "Restart the camera." Now when I run the camera just a black screen and after a while the message "Restart the camera." Install third-party applications camera does not help.

Me too iis having the same problem, hope someone help me with this problem.
It's probably the main board. I've noticed that the phone is very fragile and any drop, can result in damaging the internals. The first thing to fail is the rear facing camera.

Nothing will help except replacing the motherboard. Unfortunately.
You can also try to press firmly at some point on back cover right under the camera - it can help and the camera will start for next 1-2 times.

Is it possible that you have YouTube with resolution optimization on Boost+? Because in my case, for instance, if I set the resolution optimization for Samsung Internet Browser (Beta), it becomes unable to go full screen with its built-in video player.
