Hi,
By editing the build.prop with a file explorer (need root), at the end of the build.prop (/system/build.prop) add this line:
Code:
debug.egl.swapinterval=0
Save and reboot.
But it's only for benches in my opinion, you'll see some weird screen behaviors while scrolling like "tearing" for example. There is nothing to gain in day to day use.
Make a Nandroid backup first, just in case.

no. all it will help with is getting you upset because the graphics WILL tear, skip, and produce other visual disturbances.

How to make JAC's Hero faster...

Now that I have your attention, to make it Sense UI run faster, UNDERCLOCK it with overclock widget (the red/blue icon one) to 383mhz and let the phone accustomize to that speed for 2-3 minutes and the phone definitely runs faster. Or at least it did for me.
I run Swapper at 32mb/10 swappiness w/ the clock/weather and twitter widget, plus 6 icons, the overclock widget, and the wifi toggle widget and have noticed a HUGE difference in the past 24 hours since I first started running the underclock.
Don't ask cause I can't explain how this is either...
My next "quest" for better performance is to try w/o Swapper.
Heard about underclocking helping performance on hero before.... Ill try it out for a day and see what happens....

Your right, seems weird but underclocking definately improves overall performance.
i posted a similiar suggestion in "the problem with hero" thread, as underclocking also solves the sms issue
A better tweak would be to add this to you init.rc:
Code:
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold 40
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/ignore_nice_load 1
write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_rate 200000
What this does is allow the CPU frequency to ramp up much faster.

So, what you're saying what you suggested would do what a standard overclocker app is intended to do, albeit with better results?
BTW, the script you wrote, enter it in terminal emulator?

depends. The init.rc is in the boot.img.
You would have to extract the ramdisk from the boot.img, uncpio it, edit the init.rc file, repack the boot.img and either fastboot the boot.img or put it in an update package and reflash.
I can edit the init.rc.

Or, couldn't you use root explorer on the phone itself to make the changes?

Will post back with results asap.
DON'T DO THIS!!!
You know I am using setcpu and I had it set to max 528 but I changed it to 384, left it for a few minutes and now I am playing with it and it does feel a little snappier. I wonder why that is. I remember some discussion about overclocking and the restriction of the hardware/OS bottlenecking the processor at a certain point. Would this have something to do with it, or maybe it's just psychosomatic, we believe that it's faster so it feels that way. A placebo affect maybe
Edit: I also found that using Advanced Task Manager differently helped. I used to have it kill all process and it would feel like my phone would bog down afterwards. So I tried using it without killing anything and it felt snappier. So I set it up to leave the background processes and just kill apps that I exit out of and it feels a little better. Just FYI for anyone else that uses a task manager
Do we set max and min both to 384, or the default max 384, min 245?

Set 384 to the max. You can set the minimum to 245 to save a little on battery, or set it to 384 as well to eliminate the "hibernation" mode, like on a pc.

[Q] Increase multitasking limit

Hey guys,
I've looked round and could not find any registry entries/changes that would increase my multitasking limit from 4-5 to 8. I'm trying out a 7.8 ROM and I'm quite surprised at the low number of previous apps I can get back to. I used to use a ROM before this which had a limit of 8 and I don't remember but I think I might have changed a reg key for that change to happen.
Well anyway, if there is a reg key to change, what is it?
Thanks!!
Florin
I don't know what is registry values but you can try use WPH Tweaks: http://windowsphonehacker.com/articles/app_wph_tweaks-04-09-12

Asphalt 8: Airborne Increase Graphic

Have you guys tried new released Asphalt 8 yet? And the graphic look suck, right? And worst thing is Gameloft locked "High" graphic setting for Galaxy Note N7000, so we can only play in Very very low, low, and medium (still low).
After searching around, I found a way to improve its graphic by changing the build.prop http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44919698
Changing the build.prop will unlock "High" graphic setting. I changed my ro.product.model=GT-N7000 to ro.product.model=GT-I9505 (Galaxy S4). Then I can set my graphic setting to "High", but I can say it's unplayable. It includes.. I don't know what it called, but I can say "sunshine" to the screen, wreck cars, and the cars look more realistic.
So, if it's unplayable for you, just can just simply change your graphic setting back to "medium" (with build.prop GT-I9505). It will remove the "sunshine", and something else you will notice in the game, but it's Playable at very high fps, and the cars are in high quality.
I'm not really good at writing English, so don't mind my writing skill. I just want to share my idea how to improve graphic on the new Asphalt 8.
In short, to increase Asphalt 8 graphic, you just need to change your build.prop ro.product.model=GT-N7000 to GT-I9505 and play in medium setting. Done.

I have also been talking about this for a while but i cant figure out how to set it to high.. I have changed the build.prop but no, the HIGH option is still locked. Please help me i want to play it on high settings. Changing "ro.product.model" seems as if it makes no changes to my device. Please please help me.
Working good here.. But it's kinda laggy for me on high graphic settings
Edit: removed all the bloat and changed kernel now on high graphic settings the game is fluid

I believe one of the early NX kernel's will be good for increasing the performance... I think you could OC the GPU at one moment to 540MHz (not safe). However 400MHz should help

What rom are u using? Some rom (mostly tablet or phable), u cant change product model. I mean, u can change it, but when u go to Setting>about device, it will just show as N7000. I was using Xperiacle tablet/phablet rom and i couldnt change my build.prop, then i switched back to stock rooted XXLSZ and i managed to do it.
Hmmm. But i havent try with this : if you're using phablet mode, try to change your build.prop as ro.product.model=GT-N5100 (note 8.0). And if you're using tablet, try changing to Galaxy Note 10.1( GT-N8000). I didnt try yet but u should try it. It doesnt mean u need to change it to I9505, u can try something else.

Another way to do this is to change the config file in game obb. Copy your obb file to pc and extract cc.conf in device_config folder out and swap the value between i9500 and n7000. DO NOT just copy and paste to be like i9500, because when u start the game, sometime it will error and keep asking for Internet to check for required file. i tried already. So make sure u swap them and it will keep its size, there will be no error.

[Q] Any chance to increase Z3 Flashlight intensity?

Hi guys,
i'm coming from a Galaxy S2, a great phone btw, and the only phone that made me to finally change it was the Z3.
I use the flashlight a lot cause the place where i live. And the intensity of the Z3 is very very poor compared with the S2 one. Any chance to increase the power?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, but you need root and R/W permissions in System.
Then just do it:
Go to:
system/etc/flashled_calc_parameters.cfg
And change the value of this Parameter to this:
LED If setting for Torch or video recording (uA).
if_torch_vr = 500000
Reboot and give a try.

The value is 500000 or 50000 because the default one is 25000.

Is there any risk regarding the diod?
If it could flash brighter, why was it capped at half the strength?
Cheers.

The only risk is if you leave it on for a lot of hours because of overheat.
Greetings!
I can't seem to get the file to stay changed, any time I overwrite it or open in x-plore text editor it comes back to the original value. I have root access and gave the permissions to the file manager. I've tried to mount the /system via adb shell, but no command is accepted, throwing errors as "bad option".
Any ideas regarding this?
EDIT: After a research I found a solution:

[...] After installing and gaining root, to get system R/W access you need to run my script which will enable RICDefeat on the device and allow R/W of the system partition. Just extract SGP621-RICDefeat.zip and run the install batch file. It should also work for other devices, but as I have not personally tested it on anything else than my SGP621 and Z2, I cannot guarantee for it. So if this makes your cat explode, it is not my fault.

Just did this due to my z3c being much dimmer than my friends z1c flash.
These were the default settings:

So it would seem the z3c might have had a mistyped figure in the first place from the factory.
Both are very bright now with the above suggested setting

Disable Camera App Display Brightness Increase [DEV NEEDED][WILL PAY!]

Hi there, I've about had it with the stock camera app automatically boosting brightness when it's launched. It's a nice feature when you're outside, but if you're inside it's way too bright. It makes scenes look brighter than they really are, causing under-exposed photographs. And it's super distracting in a dark room. I've spent a few hours looking through the APK and can't find a setting that would be controlling this auto-brightness behavior. But I'm not an experienced Android dev.
Almost all other camera apps have a toggle for this, but not the S7's.
I also spent a couple weeks fooling with Tasker to disable auto-brightness when the app is launched, the re-enable when exiting. The problem is the display brightness level is not consistent when AB is toggled off and sometimes the screen is way too dark or way too bright. Example:
1. Inside, display at 20% brightness.2. Launch camera app, Tasker disables auto-brightness, display stays at 20%.3. Exit camera app, Taske enables auto-brightness, display still at 20%.4. Go outside, display increases to 75% brightness.[here's where it gets whacky]
5. Launch camera app, Tasker disables auto-brightness, display drops to 20%.It's like the OS remembers the last manual brightness setting for an app. If there were a way in Tasker to freeze the brightness level before display auto-brightness, that'd be ideal. But I can't figure that out.
So, I'm requesting help from a developer(s) to find a solution. Either a foolproof Tasker recipe, or a modification to the camera app itself. Solution found. Read thread.
If you want payment for your efforts (assuming you find a solution), I'm happy to do that! :good:
Optimistically bumping this thread. It sucks that Samsung's closed-off everything has chased away so many devs from this device.
Ignore
Look in this file.
Camera.smali - For auto brightness change - 0x78 (120) to 0x1.
120 is the lower limit where brightness override kicks in.
I found the actual pictures the S7 takes are bright anyway so if the viewfinder is dull the actual image is brighter anyway. So I've left mine.
Just disable auto brightness when dark viewfinder is needed. It works even on the lowest level when auto brightness is disabled.

Are you decompiling your own Camera? This is probably an odexed rom.
The Camera needs to be deodexed, alternatively you can use my modded camera.apk here which should decompile.

However, I cannot rename the SamsungCamera5.odex or its folder -- access denied. Am I stuck? I've replaced the apk with the modded one, but I can't rename the odex. Can't replace media_profiles.xml either -- access denied too.

Do you use ES file explorer, you need to enable root explorer then click root explorer and set /system to rw mount

I was using Solid Explorer. Could access some files. For example, was able to replace the camera apk, but other was denied. Tried ES too and can't enable Root Explorer. I'm not rooted, so am I screwed?
-edit- I take that back. Can't replace the camera apk either. Bummer. I guess that's that.

Yes you need to be rooted to change camera. I doubt the camera.apk has been replaced as you are not rooted. The only other way is to flash through custom recovery example TWRP

Alright @zeroprobe, I rooted and used your instructions to modify the app. Works like a charm! Brightness now stays the same as my screen brightness. And now indoor photos are a million times better. I appreciate your help very, very, much. Sending a little PayPal love your way. Thank you for help!

Thanks a lot, appreciated !
Hi there!
The brightness issue with the camera app annoys me as well but unfortunately I have no rooted phone.
But is it possible that someone (e.g. @mrmattolsen) can send me the modified camera apk I can install? (my camera app version is 5.0.88) Will it work that way? ... and of course I would also send some appreciation via PayPal for your effort
best regards, Tom
