P.S... also....I heared about "gapps"...what is it and do I need it at all? When is the official 2.3.x (gingerbread) coming from Tmobile? I just want GB on my g2x
make sure u flashed clockwork recovery via NVflasher to TRULY gain a mod recovery. I always put the roms I wanna flash onto my phone's memory and NOT the microSD card. maybe that'll help.
Looks like a corrupt download. Delete the zip and try downloading again.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Thnx for the reply. I tought I heard to have the ROMS in external memory card. Cuz, for example that's where clockworkmod backs up your nandroid.
Where do you place the ROMS(most roms have like 3 files in a compressed zip format.......i.e example.....the eagleblood ROM name is EagleBlood1.04.zip when u download it....inside the zip, theres two folders.....META-INF and "system".....a file called "boot.img" and another one called "installbusybox"...so where in the internal phone memory do u put the whole zip folder......?
put the WHOLE rom.zip on your memory. don't unzip anything.
+1 on the post above. redownload the rom and try flashing again.
after you flash the rom, flash gapps (this is the installer that includes market, gmail, etc.) You need it in order to get access to the market
Your steps should be as follows
1. Wipe Data
2. Wipe Dalvik cache
3. Flash Rom
4. Flash gapps
5. fix permissions
6. reboot
EDIT: and don't unzip anything. Place the WHOLE eaglesblood.zip file on your SD Card

They all say the same....I got them from the cyanogenmod website......even Eagleblood1.04 from here.
funny thing i noticed tho, after I tried installing a rom, but of course it fails, I connect the phone to USB, go to external memory card, try to open the ROM zip file, it wont open....says "X:\EagleBlood1.04.zip The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"
Maybe it gets damaged or currupted during the time its trying to flash the files to the phone???

First of all, BE READY WITH UR FLASHABLE ROM.
It's obvious that you've CWM (i.e. ClockWorkMod) Recovery. So,
1. Go to CWM Recovery.
2. Go to "mounts and storage".
3. Select "format /system".
4. Select "Yes format".
NOTE:- Be **CAREFUL** after formating /system, ur phone can't be turned on. If you tried however or accidently pressed "reboot system now" from CWM main menu after formating /system, you'll end up bricking ur device.
So, Bro!! ***BE CAREFUL***!!!
It's not the same as wiping data or cache or dalvik cache. B'coz, after wiping data/cache/dalvik cache, you can normally switch on ur phone(UNLIKE formatting /system).
Also, After flashing Rom successfully, do this:
1. From CWM main menu, select "wipe data/factory reset" & confirm it.
2. Then select "wipe cache partition" & confirm it.
3. Then goto "advanced" and select "wipe dalvik cache" & confirm it.
4. & Then select "reboot system now"...
It may take 5-10 minutes to boot, so have patience...

I have flashed the rom by creed and it work. The cyanogen rom is not working for me. :crying:
Why is this?
Bro!! If stock based custom roms work fine for U, then Cyanogenmod will also work. It sometime happens for the 1st time when u move from stock to Cyanogenmod.
So, you've a working phone with creeds(stock based) rom... U should TAKE ITS NANDROID BACKUP so that if some mishap happens in future, U can easily restore that.
If U know how to backup/restore, its fine... But if U don't, then do this:-
1. Switch off ur phone & enter in CWM Recovery.
2. From CWM main menu, goto "backup & restore".
3. Select "backup".
NOTE:- It's expected that you've sufficient storage space on ur sd card...
To restore an existing backup, selct "restore" under "backups & restore" menu and then select a desired back up file.
Now, you've a NANDROID BACKUP, you can give a try to various cyanogenmod roms (official or unofficial... depends on you) & if some wrong happens..., u know what to do... right???

U can also visit www.viotutorials.com for flashing processes along with video demonstration.:thumbup:

Titanium Backup Create Flashable Zip of Apps!

This changes everything! All in all should cut 30 mins. off of ROM Flashing!
What if you could cut that time by a solid 20 or 30 minutes? Thanks to a new feature just incorporated in Titanium Backup, you can. With the newest update to TB Pro, you can now create a flashable zip of all your apps and data. That means that you can flash all your goodies right after a new ROM and fire up a system that's ready to go right out of the box.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/11/06/new-in-titanium-backup-create-flashable-zips-of-all-your-apps-and-data/
It'll be interesting how the "data" part works out on new or re-based ROMS though.
I saw this today and got super excited. Hope it works good and is bug free.
Cool! I remember when CWM was supposed to add a feature to create a zip of the Rom you were running but that never came out.

tried the update.zip as the last file to flash after updating on a complete wipe to the latest CM nightly (11/07/2012), flashed GAPPS, then tried to flash update.zip. It "looked" it was flashing, went through about 5 of the 54 applications and then rebooted into CM with none of the applications installed.
Only saving grace was I had the foresight to to a TI backup before I tried the update.zip
I was able to restore all 54 applications from there after downloading TI Backup from the market.
Long and short, it doesn't work yet. Good concept, doesn't work.

This has worked on every version of cwm that I've used (I'm on 6.0.1.2). If you've already made a backup, then flash a new rom:
-go back into recovery
-select backup/restore
-goto advanced restore
-select the rom to get your backup from
-select restore data
-reboot
@sanjsrik
Yeah, not working for me as well. Maybe I'm missing a step here or not doing it in the correct order.
1. Boot to Recovery
2. Wipe/Factory reset
3. Wipe cache
4. Wipe dalvik
5. Install ROM (in this test case, CM10)
6. Install .zip file (created by TI Backup)
7. Boot
8. Nothing restored (it's like a bone stock install of CM10)

I flashed rom, gapps n then i hit that install update.zip button after I let the rom boot up n settle. It wouldn't get past the boot animation. I wiped, flashed rom, flashed gapps, let the rom boot up n settle. Then I went back into recovery. I installed the zip as I would a regular zip n I fixed permissions. Then it worked

Not bad!
Use the Jan 16 version. As with any playing around, do a backup before flashing cm-11. If you need to do any sdcard partitioning, do it on the old version as these functions are not in this new version.

Yes, you flash the new recovery with the old recovery first. Reboot to new recovery. Remember to wipe user data/factory reset along with wiping Dalvik cache and formatting system from the mounts and storage item. Then install your CM11 ROM.

I would hope that the update.zip you are referring to is a flashable recovery. From the link posted it is. It's the newest recovery with support for KitKat ROMs. Flash this like you would flash anything else. IE; Install zip from sdcard. Then go to 'Advanced' and choose reboot recovery. This will reboot you in to the new recovery you just flashed.
From there do "Wipe data/factory reset" and then go to "Advanced" again and select "Wipe Dalvik cache". Go back to CWM main menu and then select "Mounts and storage". From there only select "Format /system". Back to CWM main menu. Select 'Install zip from sdcard'. If the ROM is on your external SD, which it should be, then choose "install from external sd". Confirm the installation and wait for it to install. Back to CWM main menu and choose reboot system. Voila!
Now I don't wanna seem harsh, but there are countless threads that explain how to flash a ROM/zip. XDA enforces using their search function to help prevent multiple threads of roughly the same content from being created. So in the future, please use the Search function before creating a new thread.

Good man, I'll try it
But after that I'll update I can install the cm7 if I wanted?
Clockwork 6.0 only flash cm10~cm11. If you like to install anothrer version, like cm9 or cm7 you have to flash first rhe clockwork 5.0. And then rwboot recovery and then flash zip. So, once you have downloaded the flashable zip for clock 5.0 and the wanted rom you have to do
1- Copy clock 5 and rom to sd card.
2- Reboot recovery
3- Flash clock 5
4- Reboot recovery
5- flash wanted rom under the rom instructions.
6- Enjoy

I cannot say if CM11 supports Hebrew or not, sorry. However, in order to install CM11 you need the newest recovery 6.0.4.6 as you've already figured out. That recovery, 6.0.4.6, will allow you to swap between CM10.2 and CM11 with no issues. To go back to older Android versions you will need to revert back to your older CWM first.
Clock 5.0 is capable of flash:
-CM7
-CM9
-CM10
-CM10.1
-CM10.2
Clock 6.0 is capable of flashing:
-CM10
-CM10.1
-CM10.2
-CM11
Hope it helps you.

CWM 5.0.2.0 can NOT flash CM11. You will get Status 7 error. You must upgrade recoveries to install CM11.
If you don't plan on having a GMail account attached to the device, have no need for the Play Store and some others, then no, don't flash GAPPs. Though I suspect you'll find that you will want/need to.
There is no safe way to increase the internal memory, as in change partition sizes, of these devices.

Sorry, no Skype for me. Yes you can downgrade CWM but I wouldn't advise it unless you are going to go back to an older version of Android.

I would make a backup of my current ROM with my current recovery before proceeding. After that it sounds like you've got the steps figured out

The backup statement I made was just a precaution. It's better to be safe than sorry.
I don't understand why you want to install CM11 and then downgrade your recovery. That makes no sense to me. Any flashable zips that need installed will also need the same recovery. CM11 added some new and reworked commands to the scripting language used to install flashable zips thru recovery. That's why you need to upgrade recoveries.

Before installing the Custom Rom you need to install the CWM Recovery using Uncle Tools, here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/canvas-doodle-2/development/cwm-cwm-recovery-version-5-5-40-canvas-t2435565
Then download the Custom Rom whichever you want, paste it in the SD Card, then boot into recovery
1.Wipe data/factory reset
2.From advance menu do dalvik cache clear
3.Go in mount and storage select format system
4.Select install from SD card and flash rom
:good: You can now enjoy your custom rom
