I've noticed that when I take a picture with my inspire 4g, with the flash turned on, the entire phone shuts down right away, but when it's turned into automatic, it works fine, has anyone else has this problem, or know of a solution?

Need a few more details. What ROM, mods, etc. Folks here like to help, but we need to know what you may have modded on the phone.
I'm running stock 2.3.3, rooted, but no custom roms.

That's odd. I have never heard of that on a stock ROM. But maybe someone else here has. Good Luck
You have a bad or shorted flash led.

You should try wiping everything and installing a custom Rom or a rooted stock Rom and see if problem persists, could be a software issue. There are plenty of stock rooted gb Roms buried a few pages back in dev forum.
Check my sig. Stock roms. There is a rooted gingerbread PD98img, stock. I think it's the 3rd one, iirc.
With the phone plugged into the charger take a pic with flash on and see if your phone resets. Could be a battery issue.

That would be my recommendation. If you knew someone with another inspire you could try their battery. Actually your battery should be under warranty. If your phone is stock looking then you could probably take it to an ATT store and let them check it out and get 1 for free. Or even a call to 611 ATT support might get you a new battery for free. Just tell them it won't hold a charge and the flash causes your phone to reboot and you tried a friends battery and it fixed the issue. ATT has very understanding customer support.
It definitely sounds like a battery issue. I had a very similar issue. My phone would shut off at random times, and one thing that caused it was the camera flash. I picked up a new HTC battery on eBay for like $14, and it runs like a dream! If you cant fork over the money for the HTC brand battery, there are lots of cheaper chinese batteries for like $2 a piece. They would be good to just test and see if the battery is the issue if you cant find a buddy that could let you use a battery for troubleshooting, before you buy an HTC battery.
Absolutely! the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. A new battery solved the issue. If you have a warranty/protection plan call up At&T and they'll take it from there.
Man, I love forums! I was just having this problem this week! I guess my brutal punishment to my battery over Winter break has cost me (I was running the phone down to 0% multiple times a day). Time to get a new battery.

Digging into the problem
I was going crazy with this problem! I wonder now what is the problem with the battery, because mine it seems like it keeps current like a good battery. Does anyoane has any "hardware-electrical" explanation?
Anyway, at least I have one solution and I am partially happy with it.

I'm assuming when you say it "keeps current" you have been using a current widget. The camera flash puts a heavy load on the battery. On an older battery, it may look like it's fine at idle or doing simple tasks, but it can no longer handle the tough tasks.
I've been noticing in the battery stats that the phone is constantly awake when the screen is off. Des this happen to anyone else? I'm running the promethius rom and kernel 1.4(+) over v21e and I've never had a drain this bad with nothing running. Please help. Thanks!

This still happens to me today only if i touch the screen while i lock it. and as for battery, MoKee OS from TrekFan is the ROM you want if you want battery life. it looks alot like Cyanogenmod and i can go almost 2 and a half days on a full battery with general use. otherwise Charge your phone too 100%, boot into clockworkmod and wipe battery stats, see if that works out for you.
My phone doesn't even want to show when I have 100% but ill give mokee a try. Does it have echoes in pjobe calls? And when going through call logs and texts, does that show the contact or the contacts phone number?

only when you have speaker on, its based off of CyanogenMod so all the issues CM had MoKee will also have. and yeah it does but that you can change in all ROMs for a personal preference.

Ghost calls will vary from baseband and kernel.

I don't use speaker too often so I'm fine and sweet! I just flashed to it. Do you know how to turn off the pop up when you receive a text? Also, I constantly get crashes from Google services framework and gapps or something. How do I fix that?

im not sure, i like having it on though, and to fix the crashes you need to wipe data and cache
Gah I wiped the data and cache. I guess data from titanium backup is causing something. I guess I'll try again

did you wipe Davlik too? and my guess is that Titanium backup is restoring your cache when you restore everything, which is why i dont use it. any apps i need to recover (battle.net authenticator) i just write down restore codes for it.
hi there i got questions about battery!
1) is normal a battery drain 1% for minute during web browsing in edge mode?
i had tried many roms and kernel... always same battery usage, also after calibration!
2) is normal a battery drain of 10-20-30 % (it changes all the time!) when i reeboot in recovery mode for change kernel or to install a theme?
if i change a rom it takes at least 50%...

I wipe everything but I restored everything but the thing that was screwing me up was calendar data. It's all good now! Some of my contacts only show as numbers even though they're saved.

why? the standard Kernel that comes with it is just fine... use V21a for O3D roms theres more of them and less issues. the only thing i like about the standard Thrill ones is that the connectivity is far better, but id rather have nice and stable, vs connection is good but glitchy.

Stock HTC Inspire 4g. No root. It reboots 10 to 20 times a day.I can be online, playing a game, or the phone can be just setting there not being used. What can I do?
I think first try replacing the battery. If that doesn't work, root it and install a kernel (or rom) that will let you undervolt. If you still have the issue, you could then underclock.

Couldn't undervolting make the problem worse? Though I do agree rooting and going with a new rom is a good shot at fixing the problem

That would depend on the cause. If it is rebooting due to overheating, undervolting/underclocking could help.
Still, batteries are pretty cheap and you will never fix a hardware problem with software.
Good luck.
Sent using the power of the dark side.
Have tryed 3 different batteries and always the same thing.
Then the next step would be to root so you can change the kernel. For testing, I would recommend Redemption. Redemption tools in System Settings makes it easy to undervolt and change the clock speeds.

Hello, on my Onda v971 tablet running Android 4.2.2, the battery drain is quite obvious (-120%/hour) if you leave the screen and use it moderately (browsing web, youtube, etc.) However, if you leave it idle, it is quite battery friendly (battery usage of about -1.1%/hour). I searched a bit on the web and I hear people saying that it was the ROM that caused the problem. In fact, many people experienced similar issue after upgraded to 4.2.2 no matter what devices they're using. Therefore, I took a snapshot of the battery usage screen and I found that the Screen occupies a great portion in the overall battery consumption. However, on my Note running 4.1.2, I saw that the screen occupies a much less portion in the battery usage. So, here are question that arised;
- Is the battery drain caused by the Android 4.2.2 version of the ROM?
- Is the battery drain caused by the screen?
- The Screen occupies a greater portion in the Battery usage in the case of the tablet than in the case of the Note 2 because a tablet has a bigger screen than the phone or because of it is running Android 4.2.2?
Thanks.
Its obvious I need to change my kernel and ROM now but I can't find a descent 1 lol hopefully the best 1 does not void my warranty thumbs crossed <--- purposely done

Root/flashing won't void your warranty as long as you are able to keep your binary count = 0.

As many people know, 4.4.3 radio has caused some issues for people, namely increased battery drain, thus I ended up switching back to 4.4.2 just to enjoy the good battery life.
What is the 4.4.4 radio like? Does it have the increased battery drain of 4.4.3, or is it battery friendly like the 4.4.2?

hmm, it was already at 20mhz, it's i think android related only, 4.4.4 just slightly improved it, earlier @ 4.4.2, the icon used to turn orange after about 12hrs., in 4.4.4, it's 36-48hrs, but it eventually does turn orange and i just toggle wifi on the device and it again works for another 36-48hrs. :silly:
