How to get 4G LTE to work with XT925? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just change provider to AT&T using my XT925. I don't see the 4G LTE logo. How do I know it is actually working?

Could someone tell me how to enable LTE in the XT925 on AT&T using stock rom or with any other rom? All I get is H+

Which country did you get your phone from? It may not support the AT&T LTE bands...

It is from Claro PR and the box says it is 4G LTE.
I only get H+ at less than 7 Mbps down and no more than 1mbps up. With my S4 I get between 6 to 22 mbps down and 5 to 12 up.
Any Idea what could be the problem. I'm using the stock ClaroPR firmware posted here and all I get is H+.

Any one there that could help me?

Claro LTE works on 07 band (2600 MHz) and AT&T works on 04 band (1700 MHz).
Regards
RJ

Yeah there are basically two versions of the GSM LTE RAZR HD - one supports 700 / 1700 / 2100 and I think is only available in Canada, whilst the other version supports 800 / 1800 / 2600, and is available in Lat Am and Europe.
Sounds like you have the second version, which as rafjak says, will not work with either T-Mobile or AT&T LTE

You can't use LTE, it's not compatible.

Just flash a rom with the correct modem. I dont which one has the correct ones for at&t.
Or you can always flash a custom rom.
Sometime ago i was using brazils jellybean when i live in mexico. I just added mexicos modem files to the brazil rom.

I'm a little confused now! So does that mean that the problem could be fixed flashing other modem? If that is correct could some one point out which one should I use to work with At&t 4G LTE?

If the only problem is not having lte then yes.
The modem is flashed since the beggining. So you would need to reflash you rom.
You extract the modem file from what ever rom has the correct file had replace the one youre using. Or simply flash a rom with the correct modem file.
I had the brazil retail rom since it is bloatless from the get go.

Well I can tell that with At&t as provider I get H+ with data.

Can any one confirm if I could get LTE by flashing other modem and what modem should I use?
I just downloaded and tried Rogers Canada Modem and it did not work. All I still get is H+.

I'm using a Fido RAZR HD (original, not reflashed), and it works fine on T-Mobile LTE (same bands at AT&T I think).
Are you sure you have an LTE-capable SIM card? And also your plan includes LTE access? Are you using a direct AT&T plan, and not an MVNO (e.g. Aio).

Yes I'm sure I have LTE card and plan. I understand that T-Mobile Band is completely different from AT&T band... or am I incorrect?
I found this on Wikipedia and it seems that they are not so different. Can someone explain this to me?
Operator Country Frecuency (MHz) Band
AT&T Puerto Rico 700 c 17
AT&T Puerto Rico 1700 d e 4
Claro PR (PRTC) Puerto Rico 700 b 17
T-Mobile PR Puerto Rico 1700 f 4

So, I have LTE that only works on AT&T frequencies... I need it to work on the Europe frequencies 800/1800/2600. Is there a way I can change the modem files without reflashing? I got root, but locked bootloader... :s

I have the same issue. I have phone from Claro PR but I am from Europe. The LTE does not working due to wrong frequency.
Should I upload a new modem driver ? or should I flash my phone ? What is less harmful for my phone
My phone is rooted and I have unlocked bootloader.

Installing CM9 on skyrocket will allow to choose 2G/3G network?

I have brought an unlocked version skyrocket from at&t. Since I stay in India, we don't have a 4G and it's shame to say not even full 3G coverage here as of yet.
My question is when I move into 3G coverage area I see 4G instead of 3G and I feel battery drains quite fast during data usage under 3G (or 4G for phone). So I heard in Roger version of skyrocket and some custom roms allow switching off 4G completely ( 4G/LTE/HSPA+). So does cyanogenmod 9 allow such feature to disable 4G connectivity which is not there on at&t rom? Anybody who has already flashed CM9 on at&t skyrocket can reply so I can root this device and go for CM9 or other stable that allows such feature.
Thanks.

Where in India..? How did u manage to get carrier signals... I struggled a lot to get the signals, I had to flash stock ics uclf6.. may b d radio in it was the thing did it...
Into the topic,.. yes u can switch 2g/3g... you don't need to root ur phone... u can flash a recovèry using Odin.. then flash the custom rom... u get root if the rom is pre rooted... if not u can flash su... I'm using sky ics now but I'm unable to switch network mode.. people say it might b radio prob..
Pls post back if u succeed with cm9..

Yes, CM9 allows it. I'm on TeamChopsticks' CM9 and the option to switch is available in the Wireless and Networks setting.
However, do understand that you need a RAT unlocked radio. That's actually what allows you to switch to 2G on the skyrocket -- having a RAT unlocked radio. You can find a list of radios in this thread.
Hi!
That's what I was about to say: if I understood correctly what I read, having a ROM that allows you to choose between network modes (LTE/HSPA/GSM) is not sufficient. Your radio should also be unlocked -- like Rogers' radio. Changing the settings in your ROM when you use a locked radio -- like AT&T's radio -- would have no effect.
I've tried using this feature in CM9 and it doesn't seem to work. It was noted on their list of problems but I don't know if it was ever resolved. I have an unlocked RAT and I still can't get it to work right. Somewhat annoying because during the day I'd like to have it to save battery, but basically I gave up on trying to get it to work.

Sorry that doesn't seem to work. That may only work in Touchwiz based OSes, but in CM9 it's not doing anything.
Reported this belongs in q&a or the developers thread itself not in the general section.

odin to rogers stock flash rogers stock ics modem first. Then root and install cm9.
If that doesn;t work try the same process just use rogers gb

I tried doing the ODIN with the Rogers ROM and it kept failing. I had to then install a custom recovery and then flash CM9.1 and it still didn't work. Before trying this I tried another ROM (Embryo) to see if that could toggle and it couldn't either. :crying:

Help needed i9305t with i9305 firmware but no 4g

Hey guys
Flashed my Telstra i9305T with the unbranded hong Kong firmware from Sammobile using Odin today, all went well except no matter what I do I can't get it to connect to Telstra 4G. Only data I can get is HSDPA+. I've set all the APIs up but still mothkng . Has anyone else had this issue or know what can can do to fix it? I've spent all night on Google and can't find squat
Any help is greatly appreciated otherwise I'll attempt to ref lash the Telstra bloated from tomorrow
Cheers
1st wrong section. Should be Q&A
2nd flash a 9305T modem. That will then give you 4g back.

Also is there a way I can keep the unbranded hong kong firmware but flash a Telstra modem?
im not using custom roms just stock Sammy firmware as I haven't unlocked/rooted the phone?

ok guys
thanks for putting up with my noobishness.
I have now got HK firmware, CMW and Telstra modem running and have 4g again
Big thanks to you both.
Just wanting to confirm ill now have to manuall flash updates from sammmobile as the combo of modem and firmware wont allow OTA's.
each time I flash the latest version of JB/KLP ill need to reload the Telstra modem (unless there is a newer version)

If you have a 9305t with telstra you can use either one of the 9305t modems. I haven't done a speed test but for me I am getting a better signal strength with the newer UBALK2 modem then with the DVALI5. I have a 9305t on the telstra network
edit: did a quick speed test and got about 10mb/s quicker download and about 7mb/s slower upload then dvali5. This is in the middle of Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, but I believe speeds will vary with network congestion

4G LTE 800 / 1800 / 2600 MHz

[Q] Can I flash a Canadian FIDO model to European firmware?

Hey,
Can I flash a Canadian Fido model with the French SFR ROM? It's not a US Droid, so I'm assuming the bootloader is unlocked?
It looks like the Euro model is getting quicker firmware upgrades (they got JB late November, whilst the Canadian model is pending for Q1 2013), so I would prefer to be on that ROM!

Your bootloader is locked, but can be unlocked. I wouldn't recommend going to European firmware though since I've been seeing a lot LTE issues when users switch off of the Rogers ROM. What's another month (or 2-3 weeks) anyways? You might end up spending a lot of time getting your phone to function just how it did on the Rogers firmware.

Hey,
I'm actually based in the UK, but thinking of picking up a Fido RAZR HD because they are much cheaper over there!
We have only one LTE network at the moment, and I'm not on it I'd prefer to have JB and HSPA+ if possible!
I've just come across this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35085808

I flashed the Fido Razr HD using an Australian JellyBean sbf with the Rogers modem_signed and fsg_signed files from ICS. Works a beaut, not sure which rom you would use the files for to get it working in the UK though. The Australian rom had minimal bloat and I didn't feel like waiting a month for Rogers/Fido to release JB.
Does the Rogers/Fido ROM have a lot of crapware in it?
Not too much... Nothing compared to Verizon! I saw like 7 or 8 bloatware applications when I first got my phone and was able to disable all of the apps I.don't use. Heck, they didn't even pre-load an ebook software!

I got them from the Fido/Rogers ICS rom. I opened the JellyBean rom with 7-zip and dragged and dropped the files along with an xml file found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054906
I missed a step when doing it and missed putting the fsg file in there and was without LTE, I was then able to use a fastboot script to flash it after. I have attached the script and fsg file. The modem file can be found in the referenced thread. You also need to have an unlocked bootloader.
I'm fairly certain we are able to SBF to the Rogers/Fido JB when it comes out safely. I would not SBF to a prior firmware like ICS myself....and why would you want to?

crapware, honestly about 4 apps, just like myaccount, vvm, ringtones and shop.
But when they sold me my phone it was apparently a Fido/Rogers verison, and i had to return the phone, then i got my new one i never hit SIM CONFIGURATION when it booted and now my rom is completely stock from factory, no crapware whatsoever! not even a fido boot screen.

Just a little warning for you ...
if you use a rogers/fido on UK :
you can flash any firmware with any radio file ... but YOU NEVER GET LTE ( NOT SAME BAND IT S HARDWARE NOT SOFTWARE )... and Rogers/Fido phone don't have dual carrier chip (42mbits)... only hspa+ chip (21 mbits)
if i have the choice i prefer pay 50 $ more to get lte or dc hspa ...

Hmm, well I assumed there would be physical hardware differences, but got different info from another thread:
EdwardN said:
Not exactly true. The XT925 firmware is what determines which radios are active. Having 700/800/1700/1800/2100/2600 all active at the same time would drain the battery like woah. Currently you can merge the radio you need into the rom you want to use, and make it work that way.

Claro BR 4G LTE Problems

Hey Guys,
I am here to relate an problem that I am having where I live.
The thing is. I have now 4G LTE service and I got a new 5GB 4G data plan...
On the carriers system they say I am ready to go to acces the blazing fast speed they show on commercials.
But the Max I am having is 3G service...
I know I have 4G service because when I search for networks it shows CLARO BR 4G, CLARO BR 3G and CLARO BR 2G.
Can it be related to the ROM I am using?
I am using the Retail BR 4.1.2 with the modem and fsg files from my carriers 4.0.3 ROM.
Can this be related to an old SIM card?
I dont think so, because I changed to this carrier less than one year ago and they say on their website that the 3GReady SIM is also already Ready for 4G.
What else can I do??
Settings -> More... -> Mobile Networks -> Select network and make sure Auto 4G/3G/2G is enabled. I believe Auto 3G/2G is the default one, I know because I do use 4.1.2 Retail BR.
If that doesn't help, you should go to Claro and ask them to either help you enable it or change the SIM card with a 4g enabled one.
The problem was the SIM card.
Got a new one and now I have acces to the 4G network.
Now the problem is that I can't connect on 4G.
I have put all APNs existent on my carrier and it didn't work...

Look, just in case... have you tried to flash a retail ROM in your phone?
I bought my phone from VIVO and I tried 4G and it wouldn´t work (ICS 4.0.4). Later, I flashed ICS 4.0.4 RETAIL and tried diferent carrier chips and the 4G was running fine on CLARO.
Also, if you can try this on your phone, downgrade from JB to ICS and try your 4G network (and remember that 4G technology is extremely new here in Brazil and reminds when 3G came - the services were bad because of poor infrastructure).
Let´s wait and see.

To get the modem you need to download the full vivo 4.0.4 Rom and extract the modem_signed and fsg_signed.
Then all you have to do is flash both on your phone and erase the modemst1 and modemst2 partitions.
That's everything I can explain walking and typing on the street.

I live in a area that has lte signal but the network just don't work. It connects but it doesn't change informations with the network.
Here in Rio the network is still in test on Claro... but I can tell Oi has the best signal by far in Rio.
I don't know how or when Claro will finish implementing this technology here, all I know is that they are moving fast. They have until April 31st, so let's see...

Then all you have to do is flash both on your phone and erase the modemst1 and modemst2 partitions.
That's everything I can explain walking and typing on the street.

Man, I flashed Stock 4.0.4 Retail, fully. I didn´t mix modem or FSG files. It´s totally stock. Our phones are supposed to detect the Lte automatically and without any configuration, since the SIMcard download all the config needed when the phone starts. (At least that happens to mine.)
Regards!

Beware of zv9 update

As the title states.
If you dont want to break LTE with band 4 (1700/2100) AWS band dont update to ZV9.
@randrew87 and myself tested the root on zv9 and tried to activate band 4 and it gives an error.
Network states as "LG" in /SETTINGS/ABOUT/NETWORK.
It would seem like data works but no calls.
Can anyone else confirm this behavior?

I just got the phone a few days ago and it did grab this update Tuesday Dec 1 2015. My phone is unrooted (for now) and zv9 works fine other than the display brightness sucks now and the battery goes down faster.
Is this for the Sprint model??

Yes sir
I have the AT&T version running the 5.1.1 PR ROM. Is there a similar way to enable band 12 on that, which otherwise fails?

It seems that H950 model does not include that band 12.
Only sprint model has it. :fingers-crossed:
