Samsung S2 Skyrocket screen black out. (Almost) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Throughout the day. My phone display became more and more worst. It started out with little finger sized purple smudge. Now, it because black. Well, almost. Would anyone help me? I included some pictures below.

Broken AMOLED... Probably a hairline crack, so fine it's hard to see. Screen can be replaced, but they are pricey... $100-130 US for new screen plus install.
Google "AMOLED screen cracked images" and see the purple screen of death.

[Q] Yellow Tint on Top of Screen

Does anyone else have a screen that has a slight yellow tint on the top? It's noticeably obvious if you are on an all white (or mostly) screen like the google website. It's not uniform with the entire screen as the middle to bottom would look white while the top would look yellowish white. I don't wanna bash but I'm really tired of HTC qc these days. I have not encountered a flawless G2 (returned 4 times) or myTouch 4G (returned 3 times). If it's not a really loose hinge, it's the dead pixels, dust under the screen, and now yellow tint on top of the screen. Not to mention the off-centered ffc which I don't really mind. I think I'm gonna go to HTC and ask for a replacement once enough time has passed production has settled down.
I had one like that, returned it and got one with dust under the screen =/

Yea it's always one defect or another with this phone. Getting tired of it.
Hi waiaung1,
Can you take a short photo for the yellow tint issue?

Horizontal fine lines on a captivate screen... going bad?

My wife's captivate has 2 really fine lines about a quarter inch to a half an inch long on the top part of the screen. The lines aren't dead they just look at little "off" color. You can barely notice them unless a white screen is displayed like the att boot logo. Is this a sign the screen is dying? Should I try to get a new captivate under warranty?

As long as you're sure they aren't scratches, and you're under warranty, I wouldn't hesitate at all.
No they are perfectly straight and parallel, definitely not scratches.

[Q] tf300t screen quality

hello,
Are you satisfied with the tf300t screen quality? I think the black on mine is a little uneven with really faint lines when the screen is completely black.do you think it is normal?
thanks
It would be way better if it weren't for the large areas of light bleed around the edges and corners! Other than than, I'm satisfied.
I get loads of backlight bleeding on mine. The screen as a whole (including the glass surface) seems a step backward from the TF101.
I just started noticing light bleed on the left and right sides of mine. Nothing major, only really noticeable on the loading screen and to a lesser extent, my primarily black wallpaper (a style I tend to favor).
Other than that, I have no complaints. Although, if I fire up Angry Birds Space and put it right next to my girlfriends iPad 2, it definitely does not look quite as nice.

My old Prime had some noticable bleeding several places around the edges, but that was only visible when displaying black and at a high brightness.
I've always hated light bleeding, and also uneven black-levels, but I always get devices with these errors no matter what... I've had 6 different LCD-TV's, and every one of them has had various problems with light bleeding / uneven backlight / black levels - so i started to think it wasn't possible to get it perfect, and that it was only me who was being too demanding.
However, my TF300T seems perfect - guess I'm lucky with this one
I just bought this tablet and there is one spot (about the size of my thumb, in the lower left quadrant of the screen) that shows up lighter against a dark background-- for ex. when it's booting up.
It's bothering me but I haven't decided if I'll attempt to get it exchanged (I could get a worse one?).
well,I just found a tiny little dot on the screen. It doesn't seem to be a dead pixel but a tiny hole in the polarizer...
On my second device. Traded my 16 for a 32gbversion when they first released them. My 16 screen was perfect out of the box, no bleed, no dead pixels. My 32 looks like a shop light when booting but i don't notice it during use. Watch out,the screens scratch soooo easy. Definitely pick up a screen guard, this isn't gorilla glass.

i can confirm this as well although it doesn't bother me at all, the scratches are light so you don't see them when the screen is on. i'd rather have a few light scratches then a screen protector since i always get lint or dust stuck under the protector, even when i'm extra carefull and this bothers me more than scratches.

[Q] Should I replace the screen?

I must have dropped my Galaxy and now there's a tiny scratch on the screen. It is either a scratch or a crack. It's hardly noticeable, but right in the middle of the screen. When a white background is displayed it shows the scratch with a rainbow of light shining through it.
It's a minor annoyance since it's tiny, but it bugs me.
Has anyone replaced their cracked screen, and is it easy? Do I just need a replacement glass? There's a lot of kits on Ebay and just want to get some firsthand experience advice.
Thanks!!!

If it doesnt bother u that much i would just wait to replace it. Replacing the screen itself is a PITA!!

100% true its your getting rainbow color its more then likely something wring like pixel or some with LCD. if it doesnt bug you then dont if your like me and it does bug you then replace it its not hard to replace the full screen and digitizer but it may take some patients and a PUNCHING BAG
Make sure you've checked the price for Samsung LCD+Digitizer combo before thinking about replacing the screen. No, "replacement glass" won't help you, since it takes professional equipment to be able to separate the LCD, digitizer and glass. And LCD+digitizer, which is a kit you can use for replacing, costs >$120.

[Q] Dark Splotch on phone. What kind of damage is this?

I've just noticed a large dark splotch on the upper right corner hand of my phone.
Here are some pictures:
http://imgur.com/a/LHiF1#0
These were taken with my Nexus 7 2013 so excuse the poor quality. I removed my screen protector prior to taking these shots.
All the color screens are from Dead Pixel Test. I've also included a snap of gmail and circa just to illustrate the blotch in apps with light backgrounds.
I try to be as careful as I can with my phone. I've never dropped my phone on the ground or in water.
I found this article while I was searching - it looks similar.

Seems like a force to the screen? Do you carry your phone in your back pocket?

No, I always carry it in my front pocket and give it the entire pocket.
Hmm whatever this blotch is, it's now shrunk to this small 1mm circle.
