Samsung themselves stated that the S5 is water resistant. Sony's new Xperia Z2 is waterproof.

No point, i am waiting for note 4
Note 4 will be a big s5
With 3gb ram and a 805 snapdragon cpu
Wasn't even thinking of jumping ship. But was hoping to see a major redesign, maybe move towards a more premium aesthetic. I thought it was a bit MEH!!
And the pic of GS5 black front with the gold back looked horrid to me, really bad colour combo, keep it white and gold.

I think this is true!
The s5 is a smaller note 3 with no pen. No need for it.
In fact my next device will be a Sony. Hopefully a z2ultra Google edition
dont forget the thanks button if I helped out!!
Samsung seem to be making the incremental steps like apple are. It's almost like the S5 should have been called the S4S lol. I love the galaxy brand though, certainly won't be parting with my note 3 but I think the S5 looks a quality handset imo.

My 2 cents.
What I really liked in the S5-
-Ultra Power Saving (Black and white display)
-Privacy mode with fingerprint.
-LOVED the 2 cd/Sq.m brightness.
-The new HDR and 0.3 sec AF shot time.
Most other features are those which are a step forward but nothing to write home about.

One thing is for sure.
All old devices and
its accesories price will drop down after release day od S5
There isn't a big evolution from s4 to s5 :/ Note 3 was a big jump. i would rather wait for note 4. Because stuff like fingerprint sensor and heartbeat sensors are not needed by me and won't bother buying a new 600quids machine when we already have a giant in our hands
And seriously whats with the back casing of s5 :/
Really disappointed.
and TW what a choice of colours in settings and notification drawers.
Way to go samsung
What a joke.
Note 3 ia ten times ahead of s5 for me. S5 is a big let down and I wont ever go back to a small screen.

Most of the features should be brought to the note 3.. You can already use the low brightness setting by using screen filter
Only thing I don't see coming will be the AF shot time and fingerprint sensor.
Maybe I'm wrong about the AF shot time if sensor is similar.
I'm just wondering since I see nearly everyone talking about using a glass screen protector you get that little plastic over the home button to make it natural and easier to press. Will this mean these glass protector are gonna have to get incredibly thin or just disappear as a one off product

Got an iPhone 4 from work today that's almost new and I'm trading it for a like new skyrocket tonight. I'm still keeping my infuse though.
I'm excited. While I love my infuse that s2 should be fast as hell!
Thoughts? Who owns one?
Why do you want a Skyrocket over the regular SGH-i777? Is it size, or Lte compatibility?
Edit: Correction, why DID you?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
I have a clue about s2 variants screen size.
S2 i9100 is 4.3"
S2 skyrocket i727 AT&T ?
S2 i777 AT&T ?
Specs says they are 4.3" gsmarena 4.5"
It's 4.5 Super Amoled Plus. Same as the Infuse.
I wanted the Skyrocket for the faster cpu, double the ram and double the storage. Plus LTE is amazing fast. Like wow fast.

I really prefer 4.5" than a little better hardware (i727 against i777)
Is the resolution the same on the skyrocket? To me resolution > screen size but anything less than 4.3 is really get too small. I think the new gs3 with a 4.5 inch screen would have been absolutely perfect!

I like the specs of the Skyrocket, but it seems development is better for the i777. But Ima do some more research. My upgrade's in August, so its gonna be one of the 2.
I don't like the look of the GSIII. That curve annoys me and I can't stand the button layout. I guess I'm just picky, considering the phones capabilities, its an awesome, but I'm gonna pass on it
Keeping my Infuse for testing purposes and may consider loaning it out for devs

IMO, iPhones are for those who want to look like they fit in with "the crowd". Android to me is for THEEE Individual. Customization, personalization, and self expression.
Say a room has 10 people full of a crowd of people ranging from say 15-40, mixed genders. 6 with iPhones, 4 with various Androids. I can almost guarantee that the iPhone users will have the same if not similar looks on their screens. Same messy apps too close together, and generic wallpapers.
The 4 Androids would be catered to reflect the Individuals who own them, even if they are non rooted, expect different home launchers on some and varied wallpapers.
This is just a random scenario n again, just my opinion

Just the same look as S2 or infuse, but with 1280x720 4.65" screen :victory:
I think i777 share roms with i9100. So, dev is much bigger than on i727.
edit: corrected hd screen size.
the skyrocket hd was a 4.65" screen. sameone thats in the galaxy nexus. its also the galaxy s2 hd in korea.
You are right
The gnexus is a nice phone. But... onscreen buttons make it loss half inch or more. Also knowing the hard burn-in problem that affects amoled screens, that buttons will be printed forever :crying:

The nightly cm9 builds are nice, I even played with cm10 a few hours ago. Amazing things are happening for this phone.
I don't miss my infuse and I recommend that everyone who can upgrade should. Its nice having such power. Dual core 1.8ghz whips that 1.6 single all to hell. The double ram helps too.

In design, this tablet is a throwback,
-first generation: soft buttons,
-second generation: no buttons,

Furthermore, somebody should tell Samsung to not use the S3-like design on all devices... in 2013 May, it was good, new, revolutionary... but now??

I think you hit the point home! They probably want the Note8 to take the lead on the high end and the Tab 3 for cheaper lower end tablets. Their decision on the specks surprise me...but again...they will probably release half a dozen other models with varying specks before the charge on my tab runs out

Pretty sure tab 2 will also get 5.0 through cyanogen guys... Already on 4.2.2 with everything working greater than stock. Definitely not worth the upgrade... The Verizon tab 2 has a 1.2ghz snapdragon (mine's OC'd to 1.7ghz ). Actually, it's essentially the Galaxy S3 with a larger screen and suckier resolution. From the looks of it, this is going to be a regurgitation of the Verizon tab 2 as a non-LTE model.

The S4 isn't only a 200MHz increment, but a more efficient micro architecture A15 vs A9.
Remember how a 1.8Ghz Core 2 Duo had greater performance than 3.7Ghz Netburst Pentium D?
Thats the type of difference that A15 makes over A9

I'm still hoping they'll hit a middle ground somewhere between this and the Note 8. Assuming this is a $150-$199 device (plus accounting for assumed iPad Mini updates in a few months) they pretty much have to have a 'mid-tier' small-ish tablet for around $250-299. But given the Note 8's exceedingly average resolution (not to mention its price) I'm not holding out too much hope of a unicorn-like device that's a true successor to the Tab 7.7 anymore.
I ended up selling my Nexus 7 (buggy, pathetic speakers.) But maybe the rumored Nexus 7.7 will end up being close to what it's cracked up to be.

Its basically your preference. Both are great devices, its either you want a phablet which you use with two hands or a smartphone you use with one. If your going for an everyday use kind of phone i'd go with the s4. But like the above poster said if you want a phablet just hold off for another month and get the note 3. But if your on an american carrier which I don't think you are then the bootloader would be locked on all the new devices coming out.

I would go for the note if you want gaming , s4 gets hot very fast up to 44c while note never goes above 35c in asphalt 8, also battery lasts longer in gaming with note 2 , only bad thing is note has little bit of micro lag in response @ max details vs s4. Note 3 would be best solution fir gaming or one max when they get out.
In less than a month note 3 will be out ... i think if u are going to buy now it's worth to wait maybe see the first reviews of it and then buy ...
But generally in gaming bigger screen and battery is a big plus ... also if hardware/software optimization is done right this time by samsung the phone will not overheat ... at least not that much as the s4

I don't play games on my mobile, but if I did I would go for Note 2. As I have used it for more than 7 months, I can concur that it was an amazing device. It was smooth, fast and didn't get as hot as my S4. I sold it and bought S4 for only one reason, size. It was way too big for me. I love the overall size of S4. But it stutters more than Note 2, especially I miss the fantastic stock browser of Note 2, the stock browser on S4 is next to horrible. God knows what Samsung have done!
Anyway, I am happy that I bought S4 and sold Note 2, I don't regret my decision a tiny bit, but if someone is happy or comfortable with the size of Note 2 then I see no reason to buy S4 over it.
i have always wanted to tear into a Nexus One or a Nexus S i dont care about teh specs
what about you guys? what phone have you always wanted? old or new it doesn't matter.
I really wish I was repping that Nexus 5 (or 4 2013 apparently) or Note 3. Gotta save your pennies!
Definitly the Galaxy Note 3.
I don't want a phone under 5.5 inches and without pen anymore.
I would love to see the Note 3 with 6.3 inches (like the Mega) cause I really love this size for a display but this didn't happend at all.
So I've to wait for Note 4 or Note 5 or Note 6 (every year 0.2 inches more since the first Note)
I would like to have a Galaxy s4! But it costs too much for me, so I'm going to keep my s2

I would like a phone with great specs and a "small" screen:
Something like a Snapdragon 600 or 800 processor, or A9.
At least 1GB of RAM, the more the better.
At least 8GB, better 16GB of internal storage.
And a screen of 4.3", no more. I think a great resolution is 1280 x 720. I don't think a better resolution (1080p) worths it.
And a metallic cover (no more plastic, please).
In top of that, I'm short on cash, so I need a phone which isn't very expensive.
Impossible, I think.

Unboxing video
Hi All
I'm actually planning to buy 32gigs white version but I'm sort of confused. I also like the z1 compact.
So please everyone post your opinions and regrets (If any).
Thanks.

I have the 32GB white version and don´t have any regrets at all. This phone is very solid for the cheap price
I am nexus...er, ...nexusian? Nexian? idk, im forever bought into its ecosystem. Google owns me basically, nexus lines is jsut what i look for in a phone, simplicity, no flashy flashy, no competition and key/relevant features. Im never going back to another phone after the nexus 4/5, its a no regret phone for me.

Agreed. I have the same device and color. Nothing to regret. Easy on the wallet, good battery, great software. Definitely the best phone I've ever owned.

The only regret I have is not buying my 32GB White Nexus 5 sooner!

Search the forums and decide for yourself.. After all you are in the Nexus 5 forums so most probably everyone's opinion would be biased.
Here is a topic you might consider reading: Would You Guys Still Recommend the Nexus 5?
That being said, Personally I don't have any regrets buying this phone as it's DEVELOPMENT friendly
If you every conside the z1 compact, then you may not suitable to get a Nexus device. Conside that the nexus line are talk about baseline android experience, which other device give you a more complete package with add on from the manufacturer.
32gb bright red with no regrets!
It's not a perfect phone, but I never had any doubts or regrets buying it. Happy owner of white 32GB version
My only regret is not buying the red version, but who would have saw that coming on launch day?
Don't get this phone if your care about camera and good battery and crap load of bugs
I'm concerned just about the battery. Wait , even the speakers !

not true, unless youre just an inexperienced user that knows nothing about setting up your own phone and taking care of it. no bugs here, camera works perfectly(and is an awesome camera). and battery life is great, i get 5-6 hours screen on time without doing anything to try to get better battery life.
No regrets. I'm quite pleased with this device. Looks good and functions well.

Bought this phone by virtue of my HTC One had to be sent for repairs.
After about a week of usage think I'll be selling of my One once it comes back.
Amazed by the simplicity of the stock android albeit I miss some of the apps and UI of the HTC but most can be downloaded from the Store. The Nexus is snappier and much smoother and fluid.
Battery is better on the Nexus,I'm impressed. Camera too is better especially in low light conditions. What I miss most is the frontal speakers of the One with Boom base..compared to the puny speakers on the Nexus 5..but I guess we can't have it all..so in conclusion.. no regrets!

Absolutely not , no regrets at all. I am a proud owner of this beast.
poor battery
I don'r regret at all. I bought 16GB black version of it,because 32GB version wasn't being sold then, but it's absolutely doesn't make me any problem because I don't play HD games that requires a lot of free space at all,and now i'm having 8.80GB free.:good:
If about battery it's would the weakest Nexus 5 point but I can live with that because I'm enjoying on using my Nexus 5 everyday and still can't get enough of it,because it's amazing! :good:
