Hi all
I ordered the nexus 5 as I have both the nexus 7's and I love them. However after reading a few reviews alot of them are saying that the battery and camera are poor!
Are they as bad as some reviews make out?
Thanks Chris

No, they arent. You couldve checked the 10 threads that have Nexus 5 photos posted in them, and a battery thread which is on the main page and has like 200 pages of people's expirience.
No, but the battery isn't great.
The camera is decent, and at least for me the battery life has been phenomenal. Way better than most people make it out to be. I average around 5 hours SOT, and can go 2 full days on a charge no problem. Buuuut everybody uses their phones different so YMMV.

That leads me to another question, if you have to charge it every day will the battery not start to deteriorate after a few months?
Why don't you read the sticky threads at the top of the forums? Why do you start a question in general forum?

I have no idea what you're doing. I get around 2. This is with location and sync off. Oh, and underclocked to 1.5GHz.

Few years, yes. What smartphone do you NOT have to charger every day? (Besides the Maxx)
camera is great if you actually know how to use a camera. if you dont know how, then its better than average. battery life i get 5-6 hours sot every battery cycle, heavy use, at 2260mhz, no undervolting nor underclocking.

sorry if this is an "odd" request, but have you modified your auto brightness settings? and if so, would you care to share? your sot is quite a bit longer than mine.

Hello!
I bought Nexus S few days ago...it had pretty good battery life which lasted for 3-4 days....but after rooting...i feel that its only left for about 2 days....
Does rooting degrade the performance of the phone?
maybe a n00b question but still any help in appreciated!
No one is going to take you seriously when you start off by claiming to get 4 days of battery life.
Do you just boot up your phone and let it sit for 4 days? Do you power it off for long periods of time during those 4 days? Can you explain how you were getting 400% longer battery life than anyone else with this phone ever?
Also, no, rooting does not affect battery life. It does one thing: give you superuser permissions. That's all.

No, but seriously, this has to be the most retarded thread to ever be started on XDA. If you had installed a custom ROM or a custom kernel, battery drain would be possible. Otherwise, you aren't going to see 400% less battery life because you rooted. lrn2android

You're asking people a question with that tone? Good luck finding the answer alone...
BTW for the other interested and more polite members of these forums here's my answer - that's a common "issue" with the Nexus S and I found this without even searching for it... This "issue" or also called a feature is here to prolong the battery's life, to reduce rapid degradation (because they don't "like" to be charged to the maximum nor staying in the empty state).
If you don't like this "feature" try bump-charging the battery or "hack" the charging process.
Want to know how? Google it

The Nexus S does this on purpose,
to give you the technical reason why, I can't answer that. Should be something about overall battery life.

This is by design.
Samsung and Google are watching your wallet by trying to prolong your phone battery's physical life.

Because charging to 100% isn't needed and hurts the physical life of the battery.
The battery only stays at 100% for a couple seconds off the charger.
97% is close enough, those 3% wont help you.
its definitely not an "imperfection" though. Seeing as, crespo and crespo 4g users all have this.

well it could be implemented so that 100% is the new 95%.
after all it's an arbitrary number (more or less)
Oh, for the love of... NO-ONE READ MY REPLY??
Here, get on reading and getting some knowledge...
And if you must charge to 100%, maybe try this.
Simply let the phone not go to sleep when charging (stay awake) and it will charge to 100%. Easy. Done.
Dunno why people couldnt just simply reply with this.
matr1x 9.0 can truly charge to 100 or it's only digits ?

I have both and the andida just isn't as good as the extended battery from Samsung. I've seasoned it like the instructions say and it just doesn't last nearly as long. It's only been a week and I'm still testing it.

Agreed, it's only a tiny little bit better or if any better than the original battery.
I ordered 2 of these and a stand alone charger off Amazon for $30. Hope I didn't waste my money! Will know when I get back home in a week and get to test them out.
Does anyone that has had luck with them have any suggestions for how to "break them in", I think the instructions show to cycle them 5 times before use?
After receiving and using an Andida for about a week I was pretty disappointed. Its about the same as the stock. Nexus Extended is better.
I have the Andida battery and I feel that it does give me 2-3 hours more on a charge. No hard facts, just my impression from using it for about a week.
My experience, it gave me about 2-3 hours like what others said. I usually got 10-13 hours. I'm personally using the Qcell 3850 mah battery now, 24+ hours

With all those defect threads around,i'm a little bit scared to be honest ....My friend will be ordering it for me because the play store doesn't take Paypal. If there's a defect, how does it work ? Do they charge you the second device until you send back the first one ?
Yes they charge you for the replacement then after 5-10 days or so u well get the money back. Even before they get the original device back u will get your money back.

First one I ordered was a 16gb, it had a dead pixel and light bleed on top left corner. The 2nd one, a 32gb, had perfect screen, but has the weak noisy vibration motor issue. Gonna call later to do an RMA for another exchange. If the 3rd one also has problems, then I'm done. They cut too many corners to keep this phone inexpensive, it really is like a lottery trying to get a perfect one. And that's too bad because I really like this phone.
Side note: My Note 3 was perfect out of the box. Also got a Moto X and is perfect as well. It's pretty sad I've gone through 2 Nexus 5's already. :/

I never used one but read good reviews about them. I would say go for it if you really need the extra juice. I personally don't need it, I get four days between charges so it's not a issue here. I'm not a gamer so mine lasts for me.

It's more to do with my usage of the phone or lack of. I don't play games, watch movies or play music with my phone. I have other devices that do a much better job for those. My radios are off until I need them and I use greenify paid version. Attached is my block list from package disabler pro.
