[Q] Difficulty installing Framaroot on my Samsung S Blaze T769 - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

Phone: TMobile Samsung Galaxy S Blaze T769
Hello, I'm new to the process of rooting phones. This is my dilemma... The USB port on my old phone would not work, so I had to receive a new phone (same model). The problem is my app data cannot be transferred over using the same SD card, memory card, and battery. My only option is to root my old phone, but I have had no success... I downloaded Framaroot 1.9.0, as well as some earlier versions, but when I tried to install SuperSU, I would get the message "Error #5, try another exploit if available." Gandalf is the only exploit option that I have. Am I doomed to not being able to root my phone, or is there something I can do?

Hey,
have you tried to flash a rooted kernel with odin? Just enter "S Blaze T769 root" in Google.

Hi, thanks for the info. I downloaded Odin, but I got a message saying "application not available" when trying to open it on my phone.

You have to use odin through the computer to flash cwm and to get root as far as I know for this phone..but as you stated the USB port on the phone doesn't work so trying use Odin won't do any good at this point..
Sorry I couldn't be of more help

I'm not sure if mobile Odin would work for you.
It's also very risky as you don't have a means of recovering through usb.

I wouldn't root because Samsung looks at if the device has been rooted in the past and you can't restore stock with Odin so... I don't think you could root get your data and then restore the defective blaze back to stock with a working USB

infuse running froyo stock w/broken usb

OK. So trying to help get a used infuse that my nephew got up and running. Originally would not boot or go into recovery mode. download mode worked. He has since been able to get it to boot and did a system reset and all seemed fine except USB.
What we want to know is will Z4root or mobile ODIN(PRO) work on this phone to get permanent root? Also will mobile ODIN allow him to upgrade to GB, ICS, or JB ROMs?
I don't have this phone so any and all help is appreciated.

Not sure if Mobile ODIN(PRO) works on infuse. If it does, you could flash up to GB and then flash CWM with Odin which you could use to flash ROMs and Superuser.

I think mobile Odin pro needs root to work... I was in the same situation as him. I Just got a whole new phone.
Sent either from my p113 (gtab 2 7.0) or i997 (Infuse)
Just realized that, it does need root.

Have you tried connecting your phone to the computer and running adb? If you just type adb devices, if your phone is connected it should show up.
Also, don't enable debugging when the sun cable is connected to your phone. Not saying you did, just thought it worth mentioning.

Oh yes sorry I'm currently on gb 2.3.6 infuse 4g AT&T
And no i havent im not sure what Adb is ha.
To root your phone from GB you need to install the Samsung provided drivers for the Infuse on your PC. You then need a Heimdall or Odin kernel package with cwm which you flash to your phone after booting it in download mode. You then flash a rooted ROM or root package from cwm recovery mode, after copying the package to your internal sd card. You can then flash whatever kernel you want.
The specific details behind this general process can be found in threads linked in the infuse super everything thread... See link in my sig below. Read up and do your research before attempting. Make a full backup of your phone too.

Ok thank you I did install a rooted rom with odin. Very much appreciated just two more question when installing a custom rom where do I put the rom file? And when I installed rom manager then I clicked a download rom it asked me to download something first I clicked install and then it asked me to verify my device it only had 3 options. Samsung nexus I think and some other ones I know my phone was not that model the only one that was close to mine was i900 I think or i9000 and mines an i977 I have a Samsung infuse for AT&T 2.3.6 gb should there be any problems or what do you suggest?
Custom ROM should be copied to your internal sdcard, then installed from cwm recovery. Make sure to backup your apps prior to this.. Titanium backup pro is a good choice. Do the necessary wipes before flashing. Read the OP (first post) of the rom for instructions.
Stay away from rom manager.

[Q] Installing a Custom Recovery without USB or ROOT?

I'm having a hardware problem with my phone and do not have USB function. it doesn't have anything to do with DRIVERS, CABLES OR COMPUTERS. this we have all ready determined. it is NOT rooted and does NOT have a custom recovery already installed. its a stock Rogers Samsung s2 lte stock ICS (sim unlocked) using bell as a provider. I would like to get JB installed as it is no longer avaible OTA at the moment.
Hmm... I know you can do it without root with Odin, but at requires USB. I would try posting this on your device's forum.

what device are we talking about? if you dont have usb option, you are screwed
I'm not sure it thats a 100% true fallen, if I could root with out usb I could use moblie odin.
its a SGH-i727R fallen, even if I could load Clockworkmod Recovery via stock Recovery menu as a temp then load the official JB rom thats all ready been rooted I'm golden. the only thing I can think of that I got going for me is the facted I don't need root to load a rom.
It is now available as an OTA update again but I have updated to JB still no USB cause the usb port on the S2 Skyrocket is a piece of junk thanks for everyons help.

[Q] Samsung infuse help

I have a Samsung Infuse 4G from AT&T unlocked to use on T-Mobile. I have upgraded from Samsung to GB 2.3.6 UCLB3 from Kies. I also rooted using Option 2 from J Scott (I think) with Odin. I would like to get rid of the AT&T stuff on the phone and have deleted most all but the Rethink Possible at bootup. Can I get rid of this too?. If I go back to stock will all this come back? Admittedly I dont know how to use Superuser. When I open it, it says "no apps". Please be gentle, grandma here trying to learn. Thanks

If you want to get rid of the (Rethink Possible) flash with Odin the option C and the gingerbread bootloaders from Jscott thread to get the CWM recovery and flash a custom rom of your choice, and you don't need to open the superuser app only when the binaries needs to be updated when you use an app that require root permissions the superuser app will ask you to (allow or deny) the permissions.
