Every time an iPhone user sends me an iPhone video through text, it opens, and plays, but it is real tiny, and poor quality. Is there any way to watch an iPhone video in full screen, with good quality?

Try to download MX player or BS player and use it as your default player, see if you can watch with good quality and full screen.

I've tried every player. I never get the option of which player I would like to use when I click on the video.

Go into settings->app then select all apps, find the default video player and hit clear data, stop the service then exit, and it should prompt you to pick a video player.

I just tried what you suggested, and I have 3 different video players installed, and it still doesn't prompt me to choose a player. This is what it looks like when I click on the video:

Let try this first, how about save the qcp file to your local storage then use MX player to open it and see if you could see it with full screen and good qualtiy?
Edit: qcp is a compact video format for ringtone and such so don't expect too much about quality..

That's one of the first things I tried. MX Player doesn't even recognize the file. If I open MX Player, and choose the folder where I saved the video file, the file doesn't even show up. If I use ES File Explorer, I can see the video file where I saved it.

I installed ARM v7-Neon. I then manually added qcp to the files list, and now I can see the video file. It plays the audio, but there is no video, just a black screen. Am I the only person who gets iPhone videos, and can't play them?
Could it possible be the video file itself?
I kinda have the same problem, it drives me up the wall! The whole slideshow thing when someone sends a MMS with a text is annoying.

I absolutely hate that the phone saves video's in ".mp4" and have some weird sort of "amr" audio codec involved? I can view these video's just fine on the phone, but if I pull them over to my computer, they play without sound. I have tried VLC, Quicktime, WMP, etc.
Now, I can rename the file extension to ".3gp" and it plays without any problems in Quicktime. But if I try to play it in VLC with the pre-defined extension, it says it doesn't have "SAMR" support, and only plays the video. I Googled it, found out all the reasons why (proprietary), and why it wouldn't ever be supported in VLC.
But is there any way to change the format the phone saves it in? It would be nice to able to send these video's from your phone to a friend and know that they could view it just fine.
I looked in Settings under the Camera....and nada.
Thanks!

From the video camera screen, go to Menu/Advanced/Capture Format and change it to H.263.
You are correct about changing the .mp4 extension to .3gp to allow it to play in Quicktime. But you should be able to play H.263 files on your computer without any changes.
I left mine in .mp4 and just downloaded the Klite codec pack, which lets you play .mp4 videos in classic win media on your laptop/PC. Works well on my laptop. Just make sure you choose custom install and deselect all the video options except for mp4 format. Otherwise it will conflict with other existing codecs such as divx.

Absolutely agree with Klite. All the time I install Windows,I don't use anything else than Klite codec pack in combination with very old(but really rocking) player ViPlay on all PCs/Ntbs in my surround. I can play almost everything without any problem.

Thank you, that worked. I had to actually make sure I was in video mode FIRST, then go to settings and the option to change the format was there.
Thank you!
And to others, I'm not complaining about not being able to watch the video on my own soo much...but I'd like to know that I could send the video out to friends and have a higher success rate in them being able to play the video.

Mplayer is nice
Act 1 video player is pretty good. Pause and play with a tap of the screen and ff or rw by sliding your finger forward or backwards. full screen works great on the nexus.
Personally I just use the built in media player, works in fullscreen and gets the job done just fine.

Ok I give, where is this video media player? what is the app name on the N1?
if your movie isnt playing in full screen, then you didnt encode the movie to the correct resolution. encode your movies whether they be rips or mkv's, make sure you encode at 800x480 mp4, 24fps, AAC 96, good to go. if you have no idea what i'm talking about, then do more reading

It's called "Gallery." Your videos are listed alongside your pictures. Or choose a video with any file browser.

Yeah, I should've mentioned where it was, not exactly intuitive in my opinion. As carnegie0107 says it's the gallery app. I had actually installed Act 1 Trial because I couldn't find the built-in one and when I launched a video file from a file browser it asked if I wanted to open it in Gallery so I gave it a go and it worked like a charm. So no need to spend money on a video player unless it adds support for more codecs
Act1 is great. I had a 640*480 video that needed to be stretched to the full 800 pixels for proper viewing and Act1's full screen mode did the trick. It also shows battery level and time without being obtrusive and has quick access to brightness controls.

No. It doesn't work. I hope it has a video player like apple's. After click a key, the picture will be stretched at top and bottom. The left and right side will be cut a little. Note screen is 1280*800, but the 720p is 1280*720. if have this, it will be full screen.
Try MX Video Player it has extra codecs and such. Runs fullscreen, easier fast forward and rewind.
Unintentionally sent from my Nexus One using xda Premium app.

Tried all five codecs, I think the 'crop' mode should work, but it's same as full screen, there has a problem.
Any one know how to view your library from within the stock video players widget? I can't find any button or menu that will allow you to see the contents of your video library. Alternately whats a good video player for a tablet to replace the stock one? I've tried Mixzing but its not made for tablets so it doesn't have a widescreen setting.

I have a couple file explorers but I want to see the library from within the player itself. There are forward and back buttons on either side of teh play button to move between videos but you can't see titles doing it this way. I have about 40 video files in my library and its impossible to tell which one I'm picking to play within the player.
edit: found moboplayer to use, it at least opens up to a decent library at start but doesn't have a widget. Going to switch to MX Player its a lot better but still no widget.
I'm not sure what you are looking for. In the stock video player I can choose any video that I want.
If I misunderstood, please let me know.

I have the stock music players widget on my desktop, when playing a movie I cannot select another one by name as their is no menu to access the library. So I guess the topic should have included the widget part. I update the op to reflect this thanks for your help.
Oh, and I think that I understand that now.
Maybe this app could hep you:

I tried it but still no way to access the library from the widget. Just going to stick to stock and will just have to close the widget and open the player app to get at the library.

I've always selected HW+ decoder but SW decoder always worked just fine for me too
Also have you tried playing other videos, or playing these videos on another device, to make sure it's not just a bad download or something?
Oh I just saw it's an mkv file, I use almost exclusively mp4, that shouldn't matter (android tablets are capable of playing both). Maybe try an mp4 or avi just to check and see
The problem is that it is japanese and i need english subs.
Will try thanks.

try symlinking the external sdcard directory to the internal sdcard
busybox ln -sf /<external card location of>/<goofy movies directory> /sdcard/<desired-location>
i thought hardcoded subtitles couldn't be changed or turned on/off ?
maybe you need to install mx player and it's codec pack as well?

I forgot to mention the codec pack, good call. Symlinking the external sounds like a good idea too. I also was under the impression that by definition, hardcoded subs cannot be turned on or off, that's what makes them "hardcoded."
I use VLC player on tab 4 7.0 and it works fine with all subtitles as long as .srt/.sub file is named same as video file.
I have it changed for when I'm browsing in files app but it doesn't change when using the Gallery app. I was hoping Good Locks would be able to make the change but can't that option.

Will it play automatically from the Gallery app?
Doesn't look like it's possible. The Gallery app is so bonded to the camera app it's probably like that for a reason.
Personally I don't use Samsung Gallery as a standalone app, there are far better and more powerful apps out there. I use F-Stop for all my media content.
When you click video in the gallery app it then should ask you to use the Samsung player you dont select that and just then select mx

it doesn't give you that option in the stock GALLERY app. it always uses the samsung built in video player.
i have since switched to Fstop it works great however whenever i select a photo from the CAMERA app it always uses GALLERY not Fstop. minor inconvenience.
Ye will do that im not sure if there is a way to change it unless modding lol
