Possible to install both Talk and Hangout? - General Questions and Answers

I've seen custom roms that have two versions of camera and two version of gallery installed on them. Is it possible to have both Google Talk and Hangout installed? Is there a way to modify the Gtalk APK to install it as a separate app?

[Q] Can someone create a flashable fix for facebook sync?

Yes I know CM7 and a few other custom roms have it, i'm not looking to flash a new ROM.
Right now my setup is a rooted deoxed "stock" ROM, with a custom kernel.. i'm just looking for a sync fix that can be flashed through recovery or pushed through adb without flashing a whole new ROM
I know a lot of people will respond by saying use the app called ContApps, but I haven't gotten it to work properly for me. So if someone does reply saying ContApps, please tell me why it isn't working.
It could help if you specify two things:
1) What do you mean by "Facebook sync?" Are you just trying to sync contact photos? Do you need to have all available info from all of your Facebook friends show up as contacts on your phone?
2) In what way does Contapps not work for you? Does it fail to install? Crash when run? Does it just not accomplish whatever it is that you want to do when you "sync Facebook?"
I use SyncMyPix, which works great for synching pics. I've tried Contapps and can't see that it really does anything at all with respect to Facebook syncing to my contacts.

[Q] Is anyone using the CM Google Voice integration (Voice+)?

It was recently announced that Voice+ was going to be integrated into Cyanogenmod 10.1, which would allow you to send Google Voice texts with the default system SMS app. (Link to the article.)
I'm really curious to try this because the Google Voice app has felt really buggy to me lately. I've tried searching for ROMs that have this feature, but haven't been able to find it.
Has anyone here been able to use Voice+ or any other similar service for Google Voice? If so, how can I install it? How has your experience been?
I think I've figured it out. Voice+ wasn't appearing until I installed the official Google Voice app. Please disregard.

kitkat dialer search problem

I installed the nightly for cm11 from today hoping that I would have the dialer search feature that allows you to look up business phone numbers. The default dialer that comes with cm11 didn't seem to have this feature. When I did a google search I found out that you have to install a seperate dialer app with this capability. After installing the zip, the text box in the dialer said I could search for contacts or locations, but every attempt to search for a business didn't work. It only gave me contact results. Has anyone else had this issue?

[Q] How to install GTalk on newer androids.

Has anyone figured out how to install GTalk on a newer android device (e.g. Nexus 7 2013). I've tried uninstalling Hangouts and then installing GTalk, but it won't install.
I absolutely hate Hangouts with a passion; so if anyone has a way to get GTalk on a newer android please let me know (and include links to things like GTalk app or whatever please). Thanks.

Enable Stock Email App in Lollipop 5.0

I know a lot of people really like the new gmail app. Visually speaking it is very nice but it does not have a combined view which did not work for me. I also liked using the two different widgets within the apps to differentiate my email account.
Here is a quick and easy method of enabling both the stock email and gmail app. You must have your system rooted. First install Uninstaller Pro (RU) to remove both the stock email app and gmail app. Next install both the stock email and gmail app from the play store. That's it. You are back to the setup you are used to.
well, it worked in the sense that I can open the stock email app again, but it won't connect to my hotmail account. I tried both the auto setup and the manual method, either it gives me server error or a username/password error.
I might be wrong here (haven't tested it because I don't use the stock email app), but wouldn't something like titanium backup also be able to uninstall the apps?
