I am having a very strange issue.
I just loaded the leaked 2.2 Stock from Cellular South on my showcase.
Google voice search will not search my contacts.
when i say "send text message to bob testing 123" it does not work
except for on 1 contact!
I have searched around the web, I have found hundreds of post about the "contacts not being sync to google"
I know this is not the case, because i used google to sync them back to my phone.
I have tried:
uninstall/re-isntall
checked language settings settings
checked my sync settings in the accounts screen to make sure contacts are syncing.
You aren't alone. I have two Mesmerizes on USCC EB16 release that have the exact same problem. For now you just have to settle for that "Nuance" voice commands app that comes with the phone, I've not found any other fix.
Google voice commands have never worked on my Mes. No idea why and I've tried everything I could find to try. I'm pretty sure there's already a thread talking about this though.
Can you test something for me
I have found that if you delete the last name of your contact (do it in gmail contacts) and try and "send text to" but first name only. it works.
Can you test this theory for me?

So if I know 4 people named Joe I'm screwed? doesn't seem like a very usable fix to me.

Try Vlingo in the Market... works quite well as a substitute.
Hi all,
I have just installed the CM9 alpha 8, everything seems to be good.
however, when i wanted to make a call; i will need to search for a contact in my phonebook which is linked to my gmail account.
But when i use the search function, the only thing showed up was "None found."
Is this a common glitch for this firmware?
I did some search but i didnt found anything in common. My previous rom and many other roms i have tried seems not to have this problem.
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance
Search is case sensitive.. If the first letter in name is capital, use capitals and search.. Its a bug in the rom..

Cm9 contacts doesn't have a functionality for showing up just the sim contacts and hiding google contacts. also google contacts get double or even tripled if we sync contacts again and again.
It was recently announced that Voice+ was going to be integrated into Cyanogenmod 10.1, which would allow you to send Google Voice texts with the default system SMS app. (Link to the article.)
I'm really curious to try this because the Google Voice app has felt really buggy to me lately. I've tried searching for ROMs that have this feature, but haven't been able to find it.
Has anyone here been able to use Voice+ or any other similar service for Google Voice? If so, how can I install it? How has your experience been?
I think I've figured it out. Voice+ wasn't appearing until I installed the official Google Voice app. Please disregard.
Hello everyone,
I am running a stock rom on my GS6 and since yesterday, when I had to call someone I noticed that I have duplicate phone numbers for each contact, but only when I type a contact's name using the T9 function of dialer. If I go to contacts, everything is fine.
I noticed that the issue is solved after uninstalling whatsapp. When I reinstalled whatsapp from the play store, it installed version 2.12.176, but I instantly got the update for 2.12.242 which was the version I had before. The issue came back after 30 minutes of use...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had that problem also but because of another app, you need to not sync the app with your contacts. I was able to unsync the contacts from my app. Try going into settings, accounts and see if you can set it to not sync or maybe in the app unsync your contacts.
I don't have this whatsapp contact sync problem, but i had duplicate contacts. Did you try to "merge contacts" from the menu in the contacts app? For me this worked

the problem is that contacts don't show the duplicate numbers, it's just from whatsapp/other app that is giving this problem.
I have the same problem on my Galaxy s6... Any fix?
Yes i have this problem. Any Fix??
Hello I have the exact same problem. But a lot of people that have the S6 (95%) doesn't have this issue.
Maybe we have a contact problem in our Google account?
I'm thinking of deleting and retyping all of them bit it's annoying...
Should I give a try? I need WhatsApp so much but this double number issue is very frustrating at the same time....
Okey, so I had the exact same problem and I think I might have found a way to fix this. The problem is it's contact by contact and not bulk.
1. Go to your contacts in your S6. Search for a contact that you know have duplicate numbers in the dialer.
2. You will now see that there is just one number added to the contact.
3. Click the "show more" link in the bottom of the contact card (above your recent activity)
4. This expanded view now shows you more contact info. Look for the "Connected by" field with a link symbol on the right.
5. This field will show you what services link contact info to this contact. Click it and press the "-" by the connected app to split it from this contact.
6. Now if you search for this contact again you will find two contacts. The original one and the one you just broke free.
7. Click the unwanted one and press "more" in the top right and select "delete". It will warn you that you cant delete read only stuff but proceed anyway.
8. Voila! Now you don't have duplicate numbers in your dialer.
As I said this is a bit tedious, but it works. I have done it to my most frequent contacts and thats good enough for now. There is an option in the contact app where you can choose what sources to show in your contacts but that doesn't seem to work or doesn't apply to the dialer.
Hope this helps
.- Alex
Thanks for the help Bathyon I'll try this when I get back from work!!! I'll let you know.
This problem is not restricted to only the S6. I have the exact same problem on my Galaxy S4 mini Duos
I'm having the same problem with my Moto X (1st Gen). :/

Working ! ! ! ! Thank you very much ! You're a hero ! WhatsApp settings doesn't ask you if you want or not the app to mix up with your Google contacts. You found the solution to "separate" them without having twice the same contact anymore !
Thanks again !

Glad I could help. It was driving me mad so I'm as happy as you are
I don't think it's the proper solution. The apps need to fix the problem. I'm having the same problem on S5 too
Also having this problem. With the latest Whatsapp Beta. I will try seperating them.
For those who are still annoyed by this problem, I've found a more elegant solution - yet still somewhat of a hack. Unfortunately, root is required until marshmallow hits our devices:
1) Uninstall Whatsapp from your device
2) Install "App Ops" by nowsky from the Play Store
3) Reinstall Whatsapp (but do not yet open it)
4) Open up App Ops
5) Scroll down to Whatsapp in any of the categories (e.g. location)
6) Press on Whatsapp and untick its ability to "modify contacts"
7) Open and configure Whatsapp normally
Henceforth, Whatsapp won't be able to create duplicate numbers or entries. This solution does not seem to have any detrimental effect on Whatsapp itself. All Whatsapp capable contacts are properly displayed, there are no error messages and what have you.

Try ouy contacts.google.com I think it was possible to bring together all the duplicates automatically there. Try it, if the apps did not work maybe the web page does...

I am facing the same issue since on my one plus 3t. Infact the contacts are NOT duplicated in the contacts app, even in gmail contacts. It gets duplicated only when I search for a contact in Phone dialer.
Sadly, one plus customer care does not know a thing about it. Their only solution is to go the nearest service center and get it flashed. Apparently they are going to use some tool to push patch updates on the phone. Cant believe they dont have any other way to fix it!!
