[Q] problem with gyroscope, light sensor and auto rotation - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Firstly , I would like to apologize if I posted in the wrong place ... I'm new to the forum. I would also apologize because I am Brazilian and I'm using the google translator .
I searched the forum and have not found a solution to my device , then searching the web I saw many users praising the XDA , so I came to seek a solution to my problem here , I hope you can help me !
My tablet Galaxy tab 2 7.0 " suddenly stopped working the gyroscope , a light sensor and the screen does not rotate in landscape mode . Already done everything and does not work . Only play with apps in store . Before but now it worked normally .
I downloaded an app called phone tester to test my sensors but only appears "waiting for data ... "
Is there any way to enable these features ?
Sorry!!!!

No need to apologize, you're in the right place. Not certain, but it sounds like you're running it stock. Is that right? The light sensor and rotation can be enabled/disabled in the settings menu. I'm sure you checked that those are set correctly. However, the gyroscope doesn't have a way to turn it off that I'm aware of. If it is stock, and you've never installed any custom ROM I can only think you may have a hardware failure. Was it dropped?

I forgot to tell .... I'm 11 CyanogenMod ( android 4.4 ) . Both the rotation and the automatic brightness sensor are active but still not work .
The ROM functioned normally and only after a while stopped working , ie also think it's a hardware problem. Was in doubt only because I thought there was a code that activates . I saw on the internet codes as: " *#*#0#*#* " ( without quotes ) but also did not work , says " connection problem or invalid MMI code "
I've installed previous versions to see if it worked but to no avail, he continued with the same problem. :crying: :crying:
And the worst is that in Brazil the taxes are too high then it is difficult to buy new quality appliances
But thanks for the help :good: ... I'll see what I can do now. :crying: :crying:
I'm using google translator , if any wrong word , blame the google kkk

[Q] Problem with gyroscope

Hi, sorry for the bad English but I had a question to ask about a problem on my tablet .. well .. when I use the gyroscope to play the controls are reversed .. if he goes around to the left and right .. is there a way to fix it? or is it a manufacturing problem
Which app?
Could be a problem with the app. Or do you get the same problem with all similar apps?
If left and right are switched it could possibly be solved by turning the device 180 degrees.
/Adam
unfortunately it is a problem with all applications .. I tried to turn but to no avail ... maybe I have to reformat? the problem is that they are the first experience with Android, and then I do not know where to start!

during call after phone dims it doesn't light back on

I am very annoyed and hoping someone here can help . My infuse 4g every time i take a call and the phone dims while on call It will not come un-dimmed. i press power and nothing call is still active but i can't do anything even after they hang up sometimes. so i updated my infused v1 to v2 and still same thing ?? any help or any suggestions is appreciated ! thanks in advanced !
Are you running overclock or undervolt? Did you theme anything? How did you restore apps?
infused infuse helping other infused infuses?
i didn't do a restore of apps ? I just signed in to my google account . had to reinstall them . and i am not overclocking . like i said it did the same thing on v1 ???

Are you you using any themes? If not does it do that on stock.
i am not using any themes . i put infused on as soon as i got the phone so im not sure if it did it on stock but it just started doing it . wasn't doing it for months now all of a sudden ???
If it does it on stock maybe get a new phone could be a sensor issue! Are you doing a full wipe when you flas Roms?
stupid question
are you doing this with the phone next to your face?
maybe you have a finger near the top of the screen?
the phone has a proxemity sensor and will nit power on the screen with objects in the vacinity. it is near the att logo at the top of the screen. this is to prevent your cheek from randomly interacting with the phone.
Personally I had go launcher running and it made my calls not go through. I did the gtg back to stock then flashed again and all was fine.

yeah idk , i do a full wipe and regardless if i hit the sensor it doesn't come back on . i have to force shut down to get it to work again . it just stays on but not lit up for me to do anything. thanks

Did it start after you moved to Infused v2? Or was it an existing problem before then?
There's some undocumented setting in the prox sensor driver that is different between the Rogers kernels for Gingerbread and Froyo kernels. (Undocument as in I see that it's different but have no clue what it does.) If you find a definitive difference between v1 and v2 in terms of prox sensor performance, I can whip up a test kernel for you.
it did it with v1 and as soon as i put on v2 i attemoted a call and it did it right away again . so idk
So I believe I figured it out . in display settings i UN-checked power save mode . and that stopped it ! So i checked it again to test and it did it again , so I believe I found the problem ! Nice ! Thanks for everyone's help ! I hope by me figuring out the wrong setting that was checked can later help someone else ! You all Rock !
One last thing . I have to use adw launcher or it still does it even with power save uncheck on stock launcher . Hmmm dunno why but adw launcher with power save unchecked works
Update issued solved

I wish I could figure out the root cause for why the prox sensor fails for some people...
It's hard to debug a problem you can't reproduce!

Just wondering, but do you have a screen protector on your phone? One that covers the brightness sensors on the top?
On my old iPhone 3GS I had the same problem, I found out it was because my screen protector was interfering with the brightness sensor on the top causing it to think that the phone was still next to my ear.
Not sure if that is your problem, but its worth a shot.
Phone lockup during call
I had this same problem.....started as soon as I left the store.
After researching this across LOTS of these posts, I found a common theme in the prox sensor.
My Ballistic case was the cause of the problem, I carefully cut the plastic shield (clear) that was over the prox sensor and now everything is working GREAT!!!!
I would look at your screen protectors and perform a little surgery....
fixxed
Yes , it was in fact my screen protector . i ordered a new one and it never did it again . thanks for your reply

Gravity sensor suddenly stopped working

Hi, it appears that recently the gravity sensor in my Nexus 5 stopped working.
At least it is what it seems by using sensor testing apps. And this makes it impossible for the phone to get its orientation (compass is not working).
Screen rotation is still working fine though.
Here is what happened exactly: not long ago I was using Google Maps, but the phone was a bit sluggish so I decided to reboot it.
After rebooting I opened Google Maps again and immediately noticed that the orientation indicator was missing (the blue "beam"), while it was present before the reboot. But I didn't care about it, and just thought that the compass needed re-calibration.
After a few days the orientation indicator was still missing, and the phone never asked me to re-calibrate, as it used to do before instead.
Then one day I launched Google Sky Map, and noticed that the view does not rotate automatically.
So I fired up a sensor test app I had installed (asd.vector.sensor), and no data is displayed for the Gravity sensor. Also orientation is not displayed and the info says that the gravity sensor is used to compute orientation, too.
Other sensors are ok, and as I already wrote screen rotation still works great.
Any clues about this issue? Did anyone ever experience this?
I'm afraid a system restore would not help...
I'm using Resurrection Remix ROM, Android 6.0.1.
Thanks.
If the problem exists on a stock ROM, it could be a hardware fault.

Ok yes, but I still do not know if it exists on a stock ROM.
Taking it the other way around... Do you think there is real possibility that it is a software fault?
I mean: did it ever occur to anyone? Is there really any hope that resetting my phone to stock will fix this?
I HATE having to reset my phone...
Thank you.
I stopped using custom roms a while ago because of minor problems that would suddenly appear.
I don't think there is a way to really tell if it is software or hardware unless you reset or use a stock ROM.

Well, that's a little hope at least.
I will need to find some time to re-stock my Nexus and try.
Thanks .
Ok, I restored the phone to stock and all sensors work again now!
Thanks audit13 for pushing me in that direction .
That's great that it was a software bug in the custom ROM.
Now you get to hunt for a custom ROM that works with a minimal or zero number of issues

LG g3 cat.6 accelerometer and gyro not working

Hi
My phone was working perfectly until yesterday, I downloaded some apps and then Uninstall them but then I started noticing the rotation wasn't working then I put on auto still not working. Then installed some sensors test and cpu z but all showing not supported or don't even have accelerometer and gyro, not working or stuck is another thing but not competible or don't even have made me think it's a soft problem, that's why did full reset but same results. Put it on safe mode same results. Also when I open maps now only show round dot. So Idk it's software or hardware that's why came to ask you guys
Don't have an answer to the problem. Just letting you know you posted in the wrong forum (see pinned post). You might get more eyes on your issue in the Q&A/Help section.

- Rotation problem 7 pro -

Hello excuse for my bad language...
I have a problem with the screen rotation, because it doesn't working.
When i'll restart my Phone, it's working a few seconds and stop it....?
I'll try many rotate and gyroscope apk, but nothing.
But when i'll change manually it's done (just with this method).
Do vous have a Idea???
OK... Did Somebody has the same problem???
Thanks
I'll found the problem...
Sorry the picture is in French configuration...
Just uncheck one app in bootmanager...
In fact is wasn't the problem... And my rotation works at the beginning and slows down more and more to then stop working--
It may be an app that blocks or others ... For the moment I found this app which is great "Rotation Lock Bubble" on Play Store.
It's working now and you can configure by application or by tilting the screen and choose the mode ...
I say that or case or someone has a problem like ...
