So my Galaxy S3 (SPH-L710) running CM10 has been occasionally rebooting for a while now. It had been getting more frequent until today when it simply is stuck rebooting. Before the standard suggestions start flying in:
1. I have tried clearing the cache. It took me a long time to do because it would still reboot from download mode, leaving me about 5 seconds to clear it before reboot.
2. I have tried factory reset, but the phone rebooted during the reset.
3. Download mode results in a reboot as soon as I push continue.
4. I have removed the SD card in case it was somehow causing the issue.
5. Plugging the phone in causes it to turn on and display a red notification light and a battery logo with a loading circle in it for about one second. It then reboots.
6. Odin will not detect the phone when plugged in
My other two thoughts besides a software issue is a bad motherboard or a bad battery. Is there a way to determine what the issue is? If the issue is software, how would one fix it without having access to download mode or recovery mode?
Thank-you in advance for any help. I had no success with my Google-fu. You guys are the last bastion of hope in the Android universe.
Does anyone know anything about my issue? Would a JTAG work to fix this?

look like bad Emmc Chip
Try to go to Download Mode by pressing all the 3 keys and as you feel the phone vibrates just release the power button hope this should work.

Same boot loop issue
tjlw, have you had any luck in solving your problem?
I have a friends Galaxy S3. Same issue although his phone was never modded in any way whatsoever.
I can get the phone to turn on either into download mode or recovery mode for one second but then it turns off.
If I have the usb cable plugged in the phone wont turn on whatsoever; not into download or recovery mode.
Thanks in advance for advise!
*******Ended up being a stuck power button that would constantly power down phone. Opened up phone and replaced power button*****

I'm facing the Samsung boot loop and no matter what I do I can't get into the regular system. I've tried getting into download mode and it just gives me the little circle loading icon and then reboots and keeps showing me that, I've also tried getting into CWM and I still get the boot loop, has anyone been able to get past this or is it probably a hardware problem?
Another thing to note is that it would randomly reboot yesterday night, then this morning it began boot looping but it would be fine after I took the battery out and restarted it, going back to the normal system. Now it's just boot looping no matter what, I can't get into CWM or download mode, trying to get into those I still get a loop of some sorts, I'm trying to just run the battery out by boot looping in hopes that that will give me some other option.
sorry but have to ask are you using just the volume button to go into download mode try pulling battery plug in your usb cord hold down volume buttons then put your battery in see what happens have you tried different usb cords yet

Yes I have tried removing the battery and then pressing buttons and reinserting it, and yes I have also tried different cables. It shows the little circle for loading the download mode but then it just reboots..
I seen a Guy last night with a vibrant having the same problem he finally used power and volume up to get back into download mode maybe try some different button combos prob wont work but worth a try if not you may have to get a jig

This worked for me when I was in a loop or stuck at the samsung screen. It was very picky about the order... got me to a screen with a big penquin saying "DO NOT UNPLUG THE DOWNLOADING DEVICE" or something. From there I was able to use GTG Ultimate Unbrick...
1. Pull battery
2. Hold Volume + and - down at the same time
3. Put battery in
4. Plug in USB Cable
5. Release the volume + & - when the penquin appears
6. Run GTG Unbrink (GTG must be a bad a$$ dude).

Yup, my volume buttons were working fine, I was using the media player earlier today and I was able to turn up and down the volume of the music.

Garen21 had another thread a few days ago...i think you guys had similar issues.
He had his sent to ATT store...
We were wondering if it was due to his power button (inside) being stuck.
I'm heading to the ATT store today, I hope I don't have to return this one and get a crappy refurbished one or anything.

keep us posted
I haven't been to the ATT store yet but I tried a home made JIG and that didn't work either. Same boot loop.
So the boot loop magically stopped happening after two days, someone I know who had a similar problem with their Galaxy suggested that it was because the /data/data partition had gotten too full with my apps and that it sstarted working when the dalvik cache had somehow cleared enough memory to start up again. To be safe following their instructions I moved a bunch of my apps to the SD card and for a while everything seemed to be fine. I hadn't had a boot loop since then except for yesterday it started happening again. Any ideas why this is happening or how I can fix this?

Hi all,
I've a Samsung Nexus S here from a friend of me.
The phone was rooted and flashed with Cyanogenmod 10.1. Without any special action the phone doesn't power on again after a reboot (during a software update CM10.1). There's nothing. Only a black screen. No lights! Nothing...
I've tried to power on it for several times. I've tried to start it into the download mode and the fastboot mode. But only a black screen. My computers Mac, Linux, Windows are detecting nothing when I'm connecting them to the phone.
Do you've any ideas for unbrick this nexus s?
regards
Marco

That's exactly what I'm working on right now.. Let's start with the basics.. Do you have a good cable (tested with other micro-usb devices?)? If so, on Linux, under terminal, does the lsusb command show any Samsung devices while connected?
Hi,
I have a similar problem.
My Nexus S suffers from the power button bug with the power button occasionally not working. When I turned it off today (using the terminal as I always do) it shut down as normal. However, when I tried to start it again it, it would not boot. When I press the power button (it usually works to start the phone, it just does not work within the recovery / OS), the backlight turns on but there is no vibration and it does not proceed to the Google logo. Similarly if I try to start it using the charger, the backlight turns on but it does not proceed from there.
Linux does not recognise the device, i.e. neither dmesg nor lsusb show any output. Therefore I cannot use the Unbrickable Resurrection tool.
Would doing that be helpful?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-s/development/i9020t-nexus-s-development-platform-aka-t1566475
I cannot enter Fastboot or Download mode. Again, only the backlight turns on.
Is it a hardware fault?
Has anyone had similar problems?
Thanks.
Yes, it will if yours is a i9020a or t. BUT you need a VERY steady hand and PROPER soldering equipment.. I had mine in Dev mode but it wasn't flashing anything, so I thought I didn't do something right, took it all back apart, and 20 mins and a popped micro resistor (from too much heat from the soldering wand) later, I had a completely dead phone.. So if you attempt it, be very careful.. If you don't feel comfortable you can do it, I would definitely find someone who can..
I wanted to solve this problem on my own but after almost 6 hours I just can't figure it out. Its either totally bricked or I'm just missing something simple. I've seen many people complain about this problem but none of them seem to have had the same problem I do. Thing is I was just really starting to love the way I had the phone set up. DAMN!
I used this thread to root: (CF)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/help/q-root-galaxy-s5-sport-sm-860p-t2859473
SPRINT GALAXY S5 SPORT SM-G860P
Android 4.4
I had CW recovery installed
(wish I had more info about the software)
Here's whats happening:
START
(vibrate)
RECOVERY BOOTING...
RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
Set Warranty Bit : recovery
(Also on Screen are the logos)
Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport
Powered by Android
This stays on for about 10 seconds.
Then blank screen (2 seconds)
(vibrate)
Screen still blank (2 seconds)
REPEAT (Auto reboot and goes back to start)
Other notes:
Trying to boot into recovery (home+vol up+power) Nothing Happens
Try to power off and nothing happens.
Pulled battery, did the 30 sec and restarted no change.
I have all updated usb drivers.
Odin will not see the device because its not on long enough. (Kies didn't see it either.)
Plug into PC via usb - Nothing Happens, device doesn't even show up because its not on long enough (win 8.1 and 7)
Pull battery to get it to stop, once battery goes back in, it auto starts again.
I TRIED AS MANY SD CARD / BATTERY/USB CABLE/POWER CABLE/BATTERY PULL/BUTTON COMBINATIONS AS I COULD FIND ONLINE AND THEN SOME. No Luck with anything.
I know this isn't a "help desk" I just wanted to give as much info as possible hoping to help you help me!
Please point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
Try to hard-reset your phone. There is a button combination for that., search it over the internet.
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately the hard reset combo does nothing. I've tried every button combination that I have been able to find with no luck. Factory reset, hard reset, etc. etc. no luck. I've also searched for a possible "hidden" button underneath the back cover or something of the like...nothing.
hmmmm
At least, it is not hard-bricked. So there is hope.
Have you checked if it is entering the download mode? If not, then try it. You can use this mode to flash file via the PC.
Check this link
It worked! Obviously I didn't search or try as many things as I thought I did. : / I can't thank you enough! wow. Amazing!

Hey guys. I'm pretty desperate so i decided to make this thread.
Here is my problem:
I have changed screen on my phone today. Everything went without any problems since I tried to turn on the phone.
When I tried to turn it on I can see only MI logo on display ... Then after couple of seconds phone will restart automatically and goes into Recovery mode.
I tried to boot it from there without any results. Also tried to reset and wipe data without any results.
The biggest problem is that I cant even get into Fastboot menu by pressing Power button + volume down button. So I cant connect my phone with PC and try to flash new ROM.
Any suggestions? I would be really thankful for any advice.
Thank you very much.

Did you follow a tutorial for replacing the screen on your device? Where did you get the screen from? Was your screen replacement just the Touch Panel or the full screen replacement with LCD + Touch Panel? Was it an actual Xiaomi part or an aftermarket part? I would take your device apart again and make sure you didn't leave something loose or disconnected.
Quick question. Was you old display still working where you could see what was going on? Like, was it just cracked or was it completely inoperable?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Thanks for reply. Yes I followed complete tutorial on youtube. Screen is from ebay. It should be original. I replaced full screen ( lcd + touch panel ).
So found simillar problem as mine - due to improper installation of back cover volume up button was pressed which caused that phone went to recovery menu after start ... ( you have to hold volume up + power key to get to Recovery menu). So I tried to dismantle it again but it didnt help. Still have same problem.
Yes old display is alright. I can see everything just touch screen is broken so I cant do anything on it. But I cant imagine this would be problem of display ....
Give your craftsmanship and handiwork the benefit of the doubt and install your old LCD+Touch Panel and see what happens. If you have everything installed correctly with every cable connected to it proper location then you should be able to boot normally.

Hello,
My wife's Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact with model number H8324 has an issue with booting or maybe the launcher getting stuck in a loop after getting to the lock screen for a split second.
The phone seems to boot like normal and gets to the lock screen, we are even able to punch in one or two digits of the 4 digit pass code. Then it goes into a loop of the notification bar and back button flickering. From then on the phone is not responding except for the power button which brings up the normal "Turn off, Reboot, and Lockdown" menu. The issue just started out of nowhere yesterday morning and we haven't been able to fix it yet. We haven't done any rooting or custom rom flashing, it's running the official Sony software but it's out of warranty.
Here's a video showing the issue. The video shows the whole boot process but the link takes you to the last part after the logos.
We would love to get some files off it so if there is a way anyone can help us with that we'd prefer it over a hard reset.
Things we've already tried
Turning the phone off and on again
Unlocking the phone in the split second the lock screen works, this is just too short to swipe up and then put in four digits.
Rebooting the phone
Booting while charging
Booting into safe mode (this has the same issue)
Connecting the phone with USB to a pc, the phone is recognized by Windows, but it doesn't share it's filesystem with Windows.
Connecting the ADB to it, alas usb debugging is not yet enabled on the phone
Trying to get into recovery mode, we haven't been able to get into the recovery menu. Googling seems to indicate it might be holding volume up + power button when the phone is off but then it doesn't seem to do anything at all.
We're currently trying to run out the battery of the phone to see if that will resolve the issue on it's own.
If anyone has any idea, we would love to hear it.

I think u just need to reinstall rom file with newflasher and stock rom , did u tried it ? with newflasher newest version , u still can keep the personal files and flash stock rom for the phone , then i think this phone will run normal again
If u dont know how to do that , reply comment here , but u should turn off the phone to keep battery well , if u can't turn off the phone , try to press and hold volume up button + power button within 5 sec , phone will vibrate 3 times and totally off
Is there a way to get a stock recovery if somehow the recovery has been deleted?
