[Q] Failed unlocking bootloader - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys
i tried to unlock bootloader via motorola web site but it says my device does not qualify for unlocking
tried flashing recoveries, root zips and updated to official kitkat, but still does not work
phoned motorola support and they said motorola doesn't guarantee bootloaded getting unlocked, it depends on luck
any suggestion?
Moto XT1033 Dual 16gb BR

I had this problem too, but I checked all individuals characters of my code and deleted some spaces between them... After that check up everything worked like a charm !

Possible to turn non GPe into a GPe?

Will it be possible to turn my unlocked U.S GSM Moto G into a Google Play Edition with it being able to receive OTA updates from Google?
My Moto G is all stock atm.
Sent from my XT1034 using Tapatalk
it should be possible by soon, just as its possible for HTC one and GS4 to turn into their google edition roms.
I just hope it's possible for dual sim as well since the google edition one is only out in single sim version

you will likely need to unlock your bootloader but other than that, it should absolutely be possible.
And I'll need root, correct? I remember when I had my at&t HTC one that you couldn't just flash the GPe edition ROM for OTA updates you had to do something else for that..

Most likely not. But we will not know until they post the rom.
why would you want to do this ?

Why not? Some people may appreciate the Google Dialer or the pure Nexus experience.

New dialer, no bloatware, full list of system languages (like Russian for example)
I am waiting for such conversion guide. I did the same with my HTC One before.
UPD: As I am using Nexus 5 I want only stock Android on my other devices . Because 4.4.2 is awesome ) I really enjoy it.
Thanks for the replies, i wasn't asking it to sound rude,
just didnt know what the differences where.
I don't know about u guys but I have the Google dialer on my stock-non rooted US GSM moto g. On 4.4... It's the same one as my nexus 4...
So besides the camera software and no Motorola features/ apps (which I find cool/ useful like the battery saver) there's really no difference.... Yeah software updates... Whatever.

Faster Android updates and probably outlast Motorola's updates..as OEMs typically stop putting out updates once another device comes and steals the thunder.
As for the dailer I think that's still exclusive to the Nexus 5 where it shows a picture based on the number which it gets from a automatic Google search I think..possibly more features.

IMO we don't know yet if GPE versions will actually be faster.
Moto mostly just added a few Moto apps for their OEM version. That's why they had 4.4 ready so fast I think.
And the reality with GPE is that the OEM, Motorola, is actually responsible for the work.
So Moto could decide to release simultaneous or delay one or the other.
If they ship both OEM and GPE 4.5's shortly after Android 4.5 is announced, that will make them look good (and will be good), and I'd bet that's part of their plan.
An unlocked Moto X can have the bootloader unlocked and then have different firmwares flashed to it. For example, I had a Moto X from Mexico...sim unlocked. I unlocked the bootloader, of course voiding the warranty and I flashed the ATT firmware to it. So I basically converted it to a ATT Moto X. Which is similar to converting a ATT HTC One to a GPe HTC One etc.
Nevertheless, because our Moto G's bootloader can be unlocked and we can flash firmwares etc once it unlocked, I'm assuming we'll be able to flash the GPe Firmware to our Moto G..

Not eligible for bootloader unlock?

I bought a boost mobile (USA) moto G yesterday. After I followed every step on moto site, it gives the error
Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking
What does this mean? Boostmobile device cannot be unlocked, therefore rooted?
please help!
TIA
I got same message but didn't care and pressed the button for unlock code!
My XT1033 is now unlocked and rooted.
That's right...
For now there isn't a way and there are no developers here working on it...
And there's no button on the site after the msg... Your device was probably eligible...

hey guys i just bought my indian version of moto g and yeah i too had this problem!! but i resolved it now my bootloader is unlocked. the site is a perfect working unlocker but the thing is u may have signed into motorola device id option under settings menu. go there unlink ur account and try in the site again. the signing in from device disallows this unlocking thing. but if u unlink the account i am sure u can unlock ur bootloader!!
I signed in with the google account on the device and it worked. :fingers-crossed:
That worked.

Nothing!
Just sit and wait... Hopefully a developer will find an exploit allowing us at least to root it (Like they did on the Moto X)... Or not... I am quite
The Motorola support forums has a thread up dealing with the issue.
Maybe try there.

I don't think any developer is trying to find an exploit...if its easily unlockable....they don't need to find one
Well, I've tried everything... I even disabled the Motorola apps on my device and I keep getting the message that my phone is not eligible...
Tried with different email accounts on the site and still nothing...
It is supposed to be easy if they allowed it... This is my sixth android device and the first which I couldn't unlock the bootloader...
And I know that my case isn't the only one... I'll try the forums to see if I get anything different...

Update:
After going through their forum, they instructed peaople tto send them an email with the fastboot oem get_unlock_data and the fastboot getvar all, as they are constantly having probles with the system... Just did that and will post if I get anything...
It took about 2 days after I got my Moto G for it to let me unlock it. Then, without me doing anything different it worked

[Q] Rooting Moto G without a computer.

I really want to root my Moto G but I don't own a computer and can't get access to one! Can it be done without a computer? Can somebody explain to me how to do it? Thanks.

Currently you simply can't.. You need to unlock the boot loader via Motorola website

No, and LG doesn't help
ATT Note 4/5, VZ Moto X-2, VZ Moto E-2, and many other devices have locked bootloaders with no known exploits. The ATT Flex 2 (and maybe G4+V10) is included.

Unfortunately there just aren't a whole lot of this version of there so nobody really devotes any real time or resources to finding root for it.
