Root without PC?

Is there any way I can root this phone without a pc? Actually my friend wants his phone rooted so he decided to give it to me in the school for rooting but obviously we need access to a pc.

I have seen a thread of rooting galaxy ace duos by update.zip using default 3e recovery. We should also look for such idea.

Rooting

Ok, so I have rooted several device's but I have never updated my stock android Os higher while rooted.
With the news of 4.3 I was just wondering what would happen?
Thanks for your help in advance guys.

Probably a 99 percent chance you lose root. Sadly.

Any chance it will damage my phone? And can I just realised root again? Using the Nexus 4 auto root?
Thanks for your help

Why not going unroot before updating?

There's just the chance of bricking your device, just like everytime you are rooting it or flashing something.
Rooting it again shouldn't be a problem.
Bricking is easily fixed by flashing a new rom?

I might do that tbh lol thanks

Yes, this is what I always do. It's the safest bet.

There are YouTube guides. But if you can get your hands on a PC, do it, it will save you a lot of time. And Vincom's one stop will help you there.

Root from a virtual VMware/parallels windows session. It will save you a lot of searching and grief.

Well if you check the android development section prior to posting you see Casual pinned to the top of the section. There is also a few threads that asks how to use casual on this device which is further evidence.

S Note is a system app, so you need root.
Hmm. . Guess even that's not happening then thanks for the help anyway . Should probably take it to the service center

There is a root method available btw, flashed through Odin. For what it's worth, I've had no issues or adverse effects since rooting.

Are you positive? Usually true but it may detect it and try to install it as an update...worth a try. Its not much different though. Smoother transitions but that may just be kitkat

Maybe needs the. Odex file? I hardly ever work with odexed systems, so I wasn't positive if it was required. A quick Googleing suggests it may be needed, so I'll put it up just in case. Gimme just a sec.
Oh btw, the odex file was in the system app folder, right along with the apk.

How should I proceed?? Install the first one and this too??
