FAQ:
Q : how to change the splash image?
A :
1. download the .img file here. put it anywhere u like (i prefer to put it at the root of sdcard)
2. rename it to splash.img (no problem if u dont want to rename it, just to make the proccess easier)
3. download 'gscript lite' from market.
4. open it and press menu, choose 'add script'
5. set name as splash (again, just to make it easier)
6. and type this on the lower coloumn (script)
dd if=/mnt/sdcard/splash.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p14
7.save, then u will see new script called splash. press it. let it close automatically or just press close. the gscript lite will fc after that. no problem with that.
8. restart your phone and see the new splash
Q : how to change the bootanimation?
A : u can install rom toolbox lite and install it. or u can do it manually by replacing the stock bootanimation / downanimation on system. (u need a rooted device to do this)
Q : i got a bootloop?
A : no way, that is impossible
the next project is more colorful, with colored google gear

Those are cool but you compressed the zips and the animations aren't working.

Yeah I just checked your white one out and my phones screen was black after using it, no problem though
Like the above post says you compressed them when you zipped them, in other words choose store not normal or quick or best if using WinRAR.
I fixed the white google boot animation and down animation to check them out :good:

Custom initial boot splash screens in full 480x640 - 2nd Round Posted

Using the tools and info from pfcsabre and the below link I created some initial splash screen .nbh files. This replaces the very first picture you see when you turn on your phone and displays your radio version and such. If you want to make your own use this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=436105
Since I spent a little bit of time making these files and other files I haven't uploaded yet, I figured I would share them. I will probably upload more later.
Instructions: - Make sure your phone is Hard-SPL
1. Download the RaphaelCustomRUU.zip and unzip it to the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe file.
2. Download one of the Splash.zip files and unzip it to the same folder as the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe file (Make sure there is only 1 .nbh file in the same folder as the .exe,,, if you download multiple splashes put them in a subfolder)
3. Connect your phone to your PC and Run the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe file and follow the prompts. Its the exact same method as burning a ROM, but these files only replace the Splash screen and nothing else.
4. It will take about 20-30 seconds to burn and your phone will reboot displaying the pics in full 480*640 resolution.
5. These look incredible when you first boot up your phone.

4 more boot splash screens are done. I will upload them tomorrow. My new favorite is a sweet looking Transformers Decepticons Logo.
Can you make these please?

thanks in advance,
Jstar
I just overwrite the image to what the default boot screen was. (You can find out what the original filename was somewhere in Advanced Config)

This process changes the 1st boot screen, the one with the red letters in the lower right corner. It cannot be done within Windows by overwriting a file, it must be burnt in. When turning on your phone you can have up to 4 pictures, This boot screen process, follow by up to 2 splash screens (usually windows & operator splashes), then your wallpaper.

[SPLASH] Inverted Unrevoked Splash Screen (Black Background White Text)

This is simply an 'unrevoked' inverted splash1. Black background with white text. This will replace your current splash1 that normally says 'HTC Incredible'.
S-Off Required
Installation:
Download the PB31IMG.zip here, and place it on the root of your SD card.
Power-down your phone, and boot into HBOOT. (Hold 'vol-down' and tap 'power')
When prompted if you would like to run the update for 'splash1', tap 'vol-up' to begin the update.
When prompted, reboot via 'vol-up' and enjoy the inverted splash!
The update process should take less than 5 seconds. Remember to remove/rename the PB31IMG.zip once complete, so that you do not get prompted to update every time you load hboot.

Just wanted to thank you for this; I liked showing the love for UnrEVOked, but the white screen always bugged me (even with stock). New version worked like a charm and looks great.
Thanks for the stock flash too; I'd been hunting for that as a backup in case the worst happens and I have to feign innocence at a Verizon store. Having a stock splash screen will make that much easier!

Thank you very much! Also thank you for the tutorial, I can't wait to get home from work and start making custom splash screens.
Looks, absolutely, great!!!
Was about to ask how to revert back if necessary but just saw your edit. Thanks a bunch for this!
I got the splash screen, but it has the white background...
Awesome! Installed! Thanks!
I need to revert back to my original splash screen
I downloaded your link from above, the stock splash screen, i follow the instructions and I am not getting an UPDATE prompt.
I renamed the file to the EVO filename also.

Can you please post a stock splash screen as I have to return my M8 for warranty repair? TIA
I don't have the stock splash, but this one should be close enough.
are there any special instructions for MAKING a splash screen, i edited a 1080x1920 img with my name on it, is there any format i need to convert the image to, or just renaming it would do it?
ive looked all over the forums for how to do this for the m8 and nobody seems to give instructions on how to make a splash screen for it, they only provide their own splash.

The image needs to be in rgb565 format. Then you can replace the splash1.nb0 in a zip with the image you made.

I created one with the m7 splash creator, then opened your zip, deleted yours, added mine, renamed it splash1.nb0, and flashed it with your instructions, worked out great. Thanks a bunch.

[GUIDE] Resize any android boot animation, Simple tool.

Hi guys,
this is my first post on xda. I was wondering if there is a way to resize boot animation that are made for other screen resolutions and don't fit your phone.
after searching google i found a photo resizer tool. it can resize photos in batch and can make any boot animation fit to your phone screen size.
this tool is from microsoft and works on windows. just download it and install.
now download any boot animation. extract it's contents. go to each part folder, select all image files, right click and click "resize pictures". select your desired resolution or put some in custom settings, select stretch and ok.. boom.. it is done..
now open desc.txt, change resolution in first line according to your phone DPI.
the first value is width, second is height and third is fps. save.
repack files with winrar or any compression software but don't put compression, just simply store.
screen shots can be found below.

INVERTED! Some new custom logos (requested by people in several posts)

Hey guys, it's me. Facuarmo, again! I know you almost see me even in the soup . But I'm here to bring you something nice that I've just made (and tested) for our devices.
I've made a custom bootlogo in black background and a totally inverted one (manually made: inverted 'Moto' logo first, then inverted 'powered by android' and filled the white background with solid black colour to prevent aliasing).
Black background: logo.zip

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Totally inverted: logo_inverted.zip
How to flash?
From recovery:
- Download logo.zip or logo_inverted.zip
- Put in phone and flash like any ROM.
From PC:
- Download logo.zip or logo_inverted.zip
- Download and install Motorola's USB Drivers: http://www.motorola.com/getmdmwin (Windows) or http://www.motorola.com/getmdmmac (Mac), if on Linux no drivers are required, just install fastboot and you're good to go.
- Download and install fastboot ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979 ) or enable platform tools from Android SDK Manager.
- Unpack the .zip file you've downloaded.
- Open a Terminal (Linux / Mac) or CMD (Windows), point your terminal to the folder that you've unpacked the .zip file, then type:
Code:
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
Once done, type:
Code:
fastboot reboot
And you're good to go. Enjoy your new boot logo .
Wanna do one by yourself?
Check this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/themes-apps/app-motorola-boot-logo-maker-source-t2848667
Which device to pick?
None, just open the logo.bin file, make changes and save. Hope you want to share your creations here, in this thread or in your own. But, please, give me the link, I love those customized boot logos .
Ask for any other logo if you want, I'll try doing my best :highfive:.
Krewella custom Logo. Nope, I'm not an artist. That aliasing!
Download from the attached .ZIP file.
