Ok Guys, I have an HTC ONE. Really like HTC, but, i has the camera purple problem, they fix with warranty, but i fear that one day come back the problem. (Already show when is very hot). Another problem is the blinkin redligh after charge, dont know if is software or hardware (I did a factory reset via the phone, but without format DATA). Can see more details in my signature.
Today, someone offer me his Galaxy S4 I9500, I tell him about the problem after charge the phone, but he still want it, so, being very direct, without a war between HTC fan and samsung fan, Should I accept that offer? I really like the design, but in the future I want HTC M8, so maybe is moreeasy to sell an S4 in near future. And i am tired about thatproblem of HTC. So I cant decide :/
Any help todecide would be greatly appreciate.
PD: I really like root and custom roms, but with HTC one never did because i usewarranty :/ And always fear of problems.
Ahh and like HTC ONe camera problem, is there any problem with the galaxy s4?

I'm coming towards the end of the period in which I can return my Nexus S for a full refund and therefore need to make a decision.
One of my considerations is the poor support I've read that Samsung give in the event of hardware failure. Anyone else concerned about this? Anyone have first hand experience?
With the problems reported here I fear that one of these days my now perfect Nexus S is going to develop one or more faults that will require Samsung support and I'd really like to believe I can resolve any problems without too much hassle.
If Samsung support really has historically been that bad, do we think it will improve now it has the Google name to live upto?

This phone is supported by Google, not Samsung. If you have problems with the phone, you would go to Google, not Samsung.
That's the only reason any of us bought the Nexus S ... because we DON'T have to worry about Samsung support.
I've used Samsung support on my previous phone (Vibrant) and must say I was very impressed. I would even go as far as to say I had a better experience with them than I did with HTC. I had a bad GPS chip on my Vibrant and Sammy had me send my phone in at THEIR expense. My phone was returned in 100% working order in only 6 calendar days. When I send my HD2 to HTC I had to pay my own shipping to them and it took 14 days to get my phone back.

Wrong, Google is letting Samsung take over support of the device, after the blunder they had with the N1 they realized they couldnt handle it.
Even with the N1 if something was wrong with the device and needed an exchange they would send you over to HTC
When I had problems with my defective power button on my N1, I called Google, then they redirected me to HTC.

Exactly, all Google did was try and troubleshoot if they couldnt help you then they would send you to HTC, but now its just strait to Samsung no google no nothing

If Samsung is supporting the Nexus S, then we're all doomed.
DOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!
I guess you meant they're handling tech support? Because Google is still in charge of software updates right?
Samsung, hardware. Google, software.

Hi all. As I'm sure you can see, this is my first post on XDA. This seemed like the perfect smartphone related community, so I joined up, and I look forward to becoming a long time active member. Now, to the point of this thread. I am looking to pick up my first ever smartphone(yes yes let the laughter out, I still own a Nokia from the stone age, and its' embarrassing to pull it out in public lol). I really had my heart set on the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE. By the way, I am from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and am a Rogers Wireless customer, and that is their version of the Samsung Galaxy S II. But after extensive research, which actually brought me to XDA, I found out that they have a massive screen defect issue with the vertical lines and blobs. Although, some people, from what I've read, have said that it isn't such a big deal, while others just can't stand it. With that information, I am back at square one. I do not know what phone to get. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is just way too big in my opinion, as I have held one. And next to Samsung, I think the best wireless company would probably be Motorola. With that, I was thinking about possibly picking up the Motorolo RAZR. Is that a good choice over the Galaxy S II? Bad choice? It has gotten some stellar reviews, but it seems that the Galaxy S II is the superior phone out there. So my question is, what should I get? I know a few people that have had issues with their HTC's, so I'm not really leaning toward them. What should I do? This is driving me crazy. I want a new phone sooooo badly, but don't know what to choose. Any help or advice is truly appreciated!! Thank you so much.
Motorola doesn't look so good when it comes to updating their devices, if you are to consider that the atrix has not been announced on their road map to ICS. That may change, but for now, it doesn't look like they are keen on updating their devices.
Just to point it out, every phone has issues, but usually it is a minority that experience these issues. So just saying, a HTC phone will have the same amount of issues as a Samsung one. But now comes my bias, I love my sgs 2, and would fully recommend it.
I'd go for the LTE SII, it's a very nice phone and one problem that only a couple people are reporting should never discourage you from getting a good phone
Wait. Wait for more native ics phones. If you can hold out, I'd recommend you wait for a phone that already has the new firmware.

well my suggestion goes against what you are looking for, but it's a rock solid performer; HTC Droid Incredible 2. it's a 3G only device, it's about six months old, and has a great community behind it. there are a few great stock ROMs to select from, and quite a few Sense 3.5 ROMs as well.
this is my first android device, and my second HTC device. i am very happy with it, and i have no buyer's remorse given the latest and greatest new phones on the market. it handles everything i throw at it, it has no compatibility issues on the Market for my uses. i'm not much of a phone gamer, but it plays my tower defense games like Sentinel 3 smoothly.
battery life is great for me. i can get a day out of it with my normal use; gmail on push, about an hour's worth of calling, 40-50 sms, 30-45 minutes of gaming, 30 minutes of forum and web browsing, and maybe 100MB of downloads.
give our forum a look-see, i think you may be impressed. but is you have your heart set on LTE, you will have to look elsewhere.
Me too!!

Is your SGS2 the Skyrocket(American equivlent to the Canada S2 LTE)? Cause it seems that the problem is most widespread on these devices. If I could get a normal S2 on my provider, I would own one right now!!

International sgs 2. I wont let myself be boggled down by those monopolistic carriers.

I would so be down to have an international one shipped to me except:
a)When it comes to a phone, I prefer to buy a brand spanking new device.
b)I'm the type of person, especially for a purchase like this, that likes to see/hold the product before I buy it.
if you ok with leaving rogers it seems like virgin mobile in canada has a great selection of good phones.

I do like Rogers, but leaving them is a possibility. If I did though, I would have to go with Telus instead of Virgin.

You know, every phone has its defect. Theres just no such phone that doesnt have any problems with its production.
You saw many messages about defective screen, thats only because SGS2 is one of most popular smartphones right now, and there are many buyers. Many phones, some % of them is defective.
Happy ppl got their SGS2 without defect and they are using it, and dont complain. But only those who got some problem, go to forum, do research and so on. They post about their problem. There are many ppl with such problems, but there are much more ppl who are lucky to have their phone without any defects or whatever problems.
Chances to get such phone with defect is very small. Theres just some % of phones which are defective. Imagine situation: 100 motorolas sold out, 1 of them (1%) was defective . You go to forums and see only 1 post about defective phone. 100000 SGS2 sold out, and 1000 of them (its same 1%) was defective. You go to forums and see OMG 1000 posts about defective SGS2, but it is the same % as motorolas. Just different quantity.
all the numbers I used are just an example
So.. SGS2 is a good choice.

Yeah, I started thinking about this as well before making my decision. And in a worst case scenerio if I do get a defective one, I can exchange it for a brand new device. Thanks for all the input fellas. Much appreciated.

Hi guys,
I’ve been a HTC user for years now, starting with the Hero and then the Wildfire S and I want to go a step further with my next androphone.
I was thinking about the Nexus 4 but I am a bit frustrated by the no-stock issues and, well, I’ve been happy enough with HTC so...
I met the One S, went through several tests and was quite interested until I read comments about “Helicoptering”, S3 ship instead of S4, black version easily scratched…
So, I am asking you two things:
- Should I go for it anyway? Your campaign concerning the Helicoptering was pretty efficient, I feel really unsure about this phone!
- What should I carefully look for when buying it? Any serial number to prefer or to avoid?
Thanks for your help!

Go for it is what I would say, if you get the helicoptering issue then just send it back to HTC to hopefully fix it or replace it, but you'll never know till you get one, I've mostly heard this about certain roms, haven't yet heard this on stock non rooted phones.
As for your second question it really depends on where you live if your in the US then you should get an s4 chip because thats all that tmobile over here in the US uses now a days and they do have a black version and a gradient blue but if you like the black one then get it, they wouldnt put it back up for sale for a limited time if they didn't fix the paint chipping but I'm stuck with the gradient blue, anywhere outside the US grounds switched to s3 chips so be careful as there aren't too many roms to try as the s4....hopefully this answers your questions and should you have any other questions feel free to ask

Thanks for the quick answer !
I'm a bit suprised by your first answer, I thaught it was a hardware issue and not a software one... Do you mean that if I never root my phone, I won't face this issue ?
I'm living in Germany so I assume it will be S3 for me...
It is a hardware issue. It gets worse with time.
Apparently the helicopter home thingy is resolved in devices with serial number >=ht24.
If you can get an S4, get it. The S3 is inferior in every way. I'd even recommend you to import one rather than getting an S3...
I got the black/grey european S4, and I cant say Ive noticed any scratches. Not more than my blade and tablets got in their first weeks as well anyway.
So, what you want is a One S in a box with the following information: Model: Z520 (mine ends with 'e', guess thats for europe), CPU: 1.5Ghz, dual dore S/N: First 2 digits 24 or higher.

Hi all,
I bought the HTC One yesterday, I got a good deal cut price of £210 I'm in the UK (London). I previously had the Nexus 4, but I wanted something better looking, this phone certainly fits the bill. I posted on the suggest device thread before, most recommended the HTC One a week ago.
Today, I'm reading some threads in the HTC One section and it looks scary the amount of problems all kinds people are experiencing.
What is the root of all these problems? Is it to do with custom ROMs? I'm a simple user, I've never used anything but default/STOCK what the phone comes with.
The phone is still brand new. Should I sell it next week, get my money back and buy a Nexus 5?
If I don't update to 4.4.2 will it be safe to use?
Please advise, asap, thanks.
I'm referring to posts like cracking sounds with the speaker, loud speaker turning on by itself, purple tint on camera.

If you don't mod your phone, it's unlikely you'll run into any of the problems people here talk about. Get the Nexus 5 if you want it, but don't sell the One just because people have a lot of problems with it. It's a really great device and you just bought it so not really worth it.

Hello Guys, I've been waiting for the S-Off on my iPhone for a long time.
Do you know any method to get S-OFF? with a Box? App?
I really need this.
Thank you!
Sunshine S-off is not supported on our device, and likely never will be.
Damn! That's sad.

This phone is great for the basic user. Sadly it's a bad fit for power users.
I'm a big fan of using different ROMs and having full control of my phone, and I'm so bummed out about it. I will never buy another phone that isn't released in the US.
I don't really blame HTC for this. I think the big problem was the U11. Good phone, but not big enough. When this one came out, it was everything I wanted, but I think it was too similar to Google's Pixel 2. So Google wouldn't let them sell it here, and that killed developer interest. I don't know any of this for a fact, but that's my hypothesis.
