Google Apps Problem - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Right, today I could not communicate with Google Services so thought it was a bad flash, so reflashed and that did not sort the problem. I tried the hosts trick and worked. I now cannot access G+ at all, it will force close every time. The other Google apps work though. Any ideas? I have tried clearing the apps cache and data.

And you made no changes what so ever between it working and not working?

None at all. This is why it gets me as I don't know what I'm earth could have caused it.

Where did my google account go?

I lost my google account all of the sudden. Is it this rom (BAND 3.0) or a google thing our maybe the MR2.5 radio. I went to check a message in gmail and noticed that it wouldn't open. Then I tried google talk and force close. Noticed on agenda widget that all of my google calender info was gone and went into settings and there is no google account. I tried to add an account and goggle isn't an option. Tried to restart my phone and same thing. Bat pull and still same thing. Now I am late and I wont be free until tomorrow. What happened? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Gtalk is the bloodline of the google services for some reason.
If Gtalk gets jacked everything stops... Try clearing the data on g talk then reboot.

[Q] "Updates available" notification. But there is nothing to update

Since I flashed 2.3.7 and restored my apps with titanium backup, i have been getting a notification from Android Market on my phone saying that I have updates for 3 apps. But when I open android market there is nothing to update. Everything is up to date, and 1 app is "not installed". Is there a solution to this?
Thanks
I too have this issue. And I am on a non rooted phone.

Have you tried clearing the market cache?
i had this problem before, clearing cache won't work. What i noticed was the i have 3 gmail accounts and for some reason my google market would default to one of my other various accounts. Do menu then accounts, and make sure that its on the right google account you normally download apps on.

I only have one account and still have the issue. I think its a bug with the market app.

Check under the "not installed" section one at a time. Once you tap the app, it will either say update or uninstall
Sometimes the updates hide in there
How do you clear the market cache? I will try that.

Do you have two gmails accounts on the phone? I get that too its usually the market switching the accounts

mine has switched to one of my other gmail accounts a few times now out of nowhere. Maybe it's doing it when the market app silently updates.

That's what is was for me. Although I had YouTube installed, it was also in the "my apps " section in the market under not installed. I decided to hit youTube, and lo and behold, update.
Definitely a BUG in the Market. Happens to me too.

It doesn't say what apps need updating. Also there are no apps listed under "Not installed"
: (
Ok try this market. The problem u speak of seems to have been squashed in this version

This worked for me...stupid Zoompass bloatware hiding in the not installed.
Thanks for the tip!

Facebook new app not working

I just installed the updated facebook app released today. it's foreclosing on me like there's no tomorrow. wondering if you are having any problems with it on your triumph.
Stock Motorola Triumph
Sent from my Xoom - btw, the new facebook app works great on the Xoom.
Well, I'm running CM7, but I didn't get any force closes in about 10 minutes of use with the updated app.
Maybe it's a froyo thing then. I hope go hear fron more people before blaming this phone

try turning your phone off and on sometimes works
Im still trying to iron out this problem. When I login with my facebook account, on my wife's triumph, the facebook app works fine. As soon as she logs in with her account, the app crashes when trying to do a status update.
The facebook app on my xoom, as I mentioned earlier, works great. I started to suspect that the crashes where related to her account instead of the app itself. So I made her sign in to her facebook account on my xoom, and as soon as she tries to do a status update, the app crashes the same way as on the phone.
I made her uninstall all the extra crap, like farmille, from her facebook account and so far nothing has resolved the issue.

Try deleting your Facebook app entirely, then re-installing it. Clearing data may work; but sometimes there's a discrepancy between system and data apks.
The Facebook update posted today fixed the problems. I still don't understand how the app could work with one account and not with others.
Thank you to all of you for the given recommendations.
I would "Delete Data" from Manage Applications and then make sure the Application is not stored on your SD Card but locally on your Phone. I had problems with Facebook crashing and as soon as I moved it back to my Phone I have not had any more problems.

Force stop play store....clear data and cache.....and then sign out of google account and sign back in....always works for me when i got that error...

Check ur DPI for ur device mentioned by slim developer.
Or try removing ur account and then resign in....
Good luck
Vs Nexus S 4G
Go to accounts and sync
Unsync gmail then resync gmail
Restart phone
Bang!!! Should now work, I had the same issue for days, clearing playstore data and google services framework didn't fix it. After a little searching I found the above method (can't remember from where), I wasn't sure that it would work, but was very happy it does.
Try it, good luck.

Apps sharing straight to Hangouts

Hey everyone,
I'm having an issue with apps not giving me the ability to choose what app I want to use when I click share. If I try to share a webpage in chrome it goes directly to Hangouts, it doesn't let me choose gmail or twitter, etc. Same in Feedly and other apps.
Does anyone else have this issue? It is very annoying and I can't figure out a fix.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Same problem here.
I noticed it after installing chrome beta, but it could have been a coincidence.
I tried clearing the defaults and the settings for the Hangouts app, no luck...
Disabling the app from the settings restores the usual list of apps, but I do need hangouts!
