[Q] Changing ROM build types - Asus Transformer TF700

When installing Cromi it ask for WW build or US build. I have a US build, but i want to know if it would adversely affect my tablet if i changed it to WW build. I want my tablet to be able to access all channels on the wifi. I am using an italian router and i have to reset is a few times to get it on a channel that my tablet can see. Plus i travel a lot with it and it would be great to make sure i can see all the possible channels for wifi.

[Q] 3G dongle (e160e) Xoom Wifi ICS4.0.3

Hi
I've had a single sitting around for awhile and I've learnt that you can get a xoom to use this via a USB cable, I've found support for it on honeycomb but nothing about ics yet, is it too early.
Anyone know of any topics for this.
Thanks

BRD, is the requisite driver (option/sierra) all that's necessary to use one of those to get on-line? Are there any user-space (Android/Framework) changes necessary as well?

I've never played with one, so I'm only going off what Ive read. Should be the same as the Ethernet dongles. Create the interface, register with dhcp if need be, etc. However, there is user-space work that needs to be done for all of these interface mods. Most people report limited functionality as many apps don't "see" the interface. So I believe there are some extra unknown steps. I'm gonna start a fresh thread on this topic because it seems to be a popular concept. I'll holla

I'm gonna bet that's even just as simple as using an "iface=" parameter on the command line (or fixing it up in code).

Yeah- 'cause as we've discussed in private, what I'd like to be able to do is replace my internal LTE Mini-PCI modem with one of the HSDPA+ Mini-PCI modems I've got lying around, so when I travel overseas I can use my Xoom with native GSM 3G data.

Is there any jb roms that has wifi hotspot working?

My guess is that most jb Rom's have Wi-Fi hotspot/tethering capabilities. I can confirm that the one I have (Superlite CM10) works as I used it this past weekend.

YW. I went through three different roms, including earlier versions of Superlite. The new version (7.0) has been really stable for me. I can go a week without a crash. The only thing not working at the moment are specific retail apps (Starbucks and Groupon).

This is my exact setup, done back in mid October:
SUPERLITE_CM10_JB_7.0SR.zip
gapps-jb-superlite_0726_nocalndr_nosetup.zip
calender_with_provider_V6.zip
deskclock_V7.zip
Email_stock_V6.zip
exchange_V5.zip
full_keyboard_v7.zip
I used CWM and followed the OP's exact steps. As he stated, you can download any missing Google apps from the Playstore. If you are wondering, I installed "exchange" because I need it for my job.

What part of tethering exactly isn't working for you? I've got an interesting case that I'm trying to resolve. Tethering works fine for me on 3G & HSPA , but as soon as I get an LTE signal my tethered devices lose connectivity, though the phone itself is still good. I tried one of the earliest nightlies and I just tried the stable release, same story. I've flashed every radio I can find recommended for the skyrocket and CM10. Sadly I have to use tethering daily for work so I've had to roll back to CM9.
Tethering is working fine on CM10 nightlies and stable with regular or 4.2 gapps.

Hey Thanks for the reply aycockonxion. So you've used it successfully when connected to LTE? I wonder what could possibly be wrong with my device then, wow...
I've tried radios but I really don't think that's the case since LTE works great, and even while a device is not functioning while connected to the hotspot, the phone itself still maintains a good fast internet connection. It sounds like it's a software problem all the way in my limited understanding of things. The funny thing is too that the devices connected to the hotspot will think they do have internet. As in, the browser will sit there trying to load a page until it times out. The moment I shut down tethering, the browser immediately recognizes the connection is lost and won't even try to load the site. Also bear in mind the moment I reinstall CM9 it all works perfectly.

Hey tmimaesk, yeah that's exactly what I've got. I've not tried superlite without gapps as you have, I expect the phone isn't practically functional without gapps installed, so I won't bother trying. I'm glad I'm not alone with this problem (sorry), but misery does love company! thankfully CM9 works great so it's not the end of the world, just a pain to not have the latest and greatest!

Yea for me I switched to paranoidandroid cm9 version and I love it!
Prob going to switch to cm10 when hotspot is working
Hotspot works just fine in every CM10 ROM I've ever tried (3 or 4 of them so far.) Most recently I've been using car vs. driver's CvD-Nibbles and it works like a champ. I was running wifi tether all day long for almost two weeks thanks to Hurricane Sandy taking out my cable connection.
Tether aside, Nibbles is a brilliant ROM and I recommend it to anyone looking to try something new.
Worked fine on slimbean 3.0 and r4ins aokp November 4/8/16 builds

CM-10.0.0, AT&T, Wi-Fi hotspot works on LTE and HSPA, open and WPA2-PSK.
Hmm I heard that LTE hotspot works if there's no encryption for the SSId
but mine never worked with encryption since I use my hotspot in public places
I dont know if theres anything different from AT&T and Rogers..
I use Rogers and may be Ill try the above roms tonight

Unable to authenticate with 5 Ghz network

I have both a galaxy S4 I9505 (4.2.2) and a note 10.1 (4.1.2)
My wireless AP is a BT HomeHub 4, providing both a 2.4 Ghz network & 5 Ghz network. They use seperate SSIDs and are both 802.11n
The S4 (and visitors laptops, macs, iphones etc) have no trouble connecting to the 5Ghz network (AES WPA2).
The note 10.1 can see the network, but an attempt to connect results in 'Authentication Error Occurred'. If I forget and reconfigure the network it appears to make no difference.
I am loathe to do a full reset just to fix this issue (if it does).
The same hub's 2.4 Ghz network, and access to another 2.4 GHz AP works just fine - and is plenty good enough.. just annoying ....
The firmware is currently CMH2 (germany) though the unit was retail UK when shipped -- it's just that the generic UK firmware was pretty old. The previous version of the firmwares I've used I believe had the same issue.
No sign of an official 4.2.x yet let along a 4.3.x - a shame...
Any ideas?

Full resets never fix issues like this, as they're mostly hardware issues. Which 5GHz frequency are you broadcasting? How long is your passphrase?
How old is your AP? Is it "real N" or one of the prerelease N standards?
@planetf1 Take a look at this app, see if it helps you.

I find setting up a phone or tablet to a router you are best to delete security settings from the router . Setup the wifi connection on your product once working setup security .
My firmware is old and i have no problem with 5Ghz .

Have you made sure the router is facing the direction that your devices are located? firmware update the router? even though other devices may work fine they could have much bigger antennas that compensate better.. does it happen anywhere else?

The direction cannot have anything to do with it. Routers transmit in a bubble 360 degrees around themselves, although some spots may have less signal the tablet has never dropped below 4 bars when the issue has happened and it can connect at the full 150mb most of the time. I have a very high quality router that has no issues with range/transmit power/direction and has the latest firmware update available to it. It will even work outside the house to some distance. The issue with the wireless dropping but not appearing happens at different times and at different locations in my house - even when a metre in front of the router. I've tried changing the channel of the router and going through the settings to see if I can find a reason for it not working. I have not had this issue with any of the other wiireless devices I have including several that also have run android 4.3. I'm using WPA2, but I refuse to turn this off. It has been around much longer than android and should not be the source of the issue. Turning the wifi off and on again on the tablet fixes the issue, it's not the router. The issue to has been documented with this tablet on a few different locations around the net so I'm not along.

Began uploading, at around 10% at the time of writing this. I wonder about flashing it myself to see if anything is changed. If anyone knows if Saudi Arabia's N9005 needs another PIT file, now would be a good time to tell us.
Because among the first ODX firmwares were the German and Dutch T-Mobile branded ones, and they needed a PIT to flash properly. xD
ETA 45 minutes.
Saudi, and the whole Middle East fall under EMEA, and most manufacturers tend to divide continents through that regulation rather then actual continent itself.
It's XXU and that's how all the European roms begin with. I'd say your good to go as nearly all European roms have the same PIT (excluding branded firmwares as you said).
Whether it is branded, that remains to be seen. Someone from Saudi could inform us well if the users there dominate in Unlocked or Carrier phones.

Odin flashed it with all green and said PASS!!
But general stability and battery life, can't tell you those without using the thing for a couple of days at least.
Also, don't you think that without experimenting a little XDA wouldn't have been where it is now? Every time I flash, even though I've taken backups and whatnot, I've embraced the possibility that it might be the last thing I've done to the phone.
Phone just finished loading, I'm setting it up and seeing what's different. It's safe to flash.

Just read posts in any Lollipop thread for Note 3 and you will see people in trouble with Bluetooth
It might be that already the branded version you have sorted out partially those issues
Basically the problem is that using smart bands or smart watches the connection sometimes is lost and it is a mess to get them connected again
Even with my Plantronics earphone sometimes I need to keep trying many times to connect as it doesn't start
These problems are with the only unbranded Lollipop release that is the Polish one

I'm flashing this Saudi Arabia version as well, ad I understand from you that the bluetooth problems seem to have been fixed! Did I understand correctly?
You can always pick any branded version BOD6 or this one and uncompress all files.
Replace cache and hidden files with any of the unbranded roms (I use the less debloated ITV).
Re-tar all files and then MD5.
Then just install as usual via Odin, it won't trip knox as it's official.

Anyone knows which modem version is in N9005XXUGBOEA? Will it work well in Europe?
Fantastic!
The first tests are very positive. I went far from the phone a couple of times with my Gear Fit and the Note realized immediately the disconnection (it was not like that with the previuos version)
When I was back close to the phone immediately the smart band Gear Fit connected again both times.
Same test and same success with the Plantronics earphone, so indeed it seems that this new Lollipop version is managing correctly the bluetooth connections!
Also the gallery speed and the Chrome browser speed seem to have been improved

I don't know which modem version is there, I can only say that at the very moment it seems to work properly in Italy (TIM) where I am based... connecting correctly in 4G/LTE
This version shows again 4G as the icon, instead LTE at it was in the last version. But this is just a graphic difference. The internet speed is very very good
