[Q]How to S-OFF One S S3

I bought new phone - One S - and is the S3 model.
Before this I had HTC Incredible S where the S-OFF was possible without HTCDEV. I did some searching on XDA and I couldn't find anything on how to S-OFF ONE S S3 without HTCDEV.
Can someone please help me or write a tutorial?
Thank you!
Cheers,
Matjaz

That's because you can't s-off without htc.dev
....or with htc.dev for that matter.

Thank you for fast reply.
Is there a way to get it back to the original state (S-ON) in an undetectable way for HTC if needed for warranty?
Thank you!
Matjaz
Yeah if we had s off we could edit the text to say anything

Ok seriously. Eleventh post in the development section that isn't development in a few days. That's what Q&A is for! And there is no S-OFF...and won't be for awhile.
Sent from my HTC One S running ViperOneS!
..and even when you post in the correct section, with a title like this, please prefix with [Q].
I really wish the mods would ban these n00b users. That's the only true way to keep stupid posts from being made in the wrong section.
thanks! will report bugs. rom looks very good :silly::highfive::victory::laugh:
Mods please move this thread to Q&A section. Or close it.

Try reporting the thread and selecting maintenance/post moving as the reason, that might work better.
Mods of xda operate on report-only basis because there is are just too many threads/posts to proactively moderate
Moved To Q&A
Please post questions in the Q&A section. Also added [Q] to make it clear to all what this thread is about.

Stupid question from a total noob

Hi there,
I'm coming from the iPhone 4, and I got my 1st Android phone last summer, HTC One S
I got it from Fido (canada)
Since I dont have enough posts, I was told to ask dev-related questions here
I want to root my phone with the All in One toolkit, but I'm not sure if ti works with the Fido HTC One S
Thanks in advance
You should of been told to post questions in the q&a section since that means questions & answers.
And future reference never post an individual question the the dev section unless you are asking in an already established rom or dev thread.
As far as wanting to root, I can't help you there as I no longer see the point in rooting since ics

Well I was told General OR q&a
But yeah otherwise I would have posted it in the AIOTK thread if I could.
I agree with you that ICS is good enough
Thanks

I have a Fido One S and I rooted/unlocked my phone using the toolkit, you should be good to go.
Don't let the toolkit do everything for you, otherwise when something goes wrong you won't have a single clue. Get fastboot running and learn how to send commands and unlock the bootloader through fastboot.

I agree with usaff22. Doing the modifications manually is better.
It's OK to root your One S. The rooting process has nothing to do with the carrier. For example, my One S was locked to 3 UK and I rooted without problems. Good luck!

I get he asked a stupid question that he should know the answer for. But if you are going to poke fun at him at least put some sort of clear sarcasm in the post like 'we need a good laugh', 'haha', or '/s' so he doesn't go and brick his phone.

Hey guys, can you help letting me know that Android 4.2.1 AOKP IceColdJelly ROM that seems to be released for HTC one X international model can be installed on HTC one x subscribed by att ?

No. Because the dev added asserts to the .zip file so it will fail to flash. These were added because ICJ is a rom for a completely different phone (the names notwithstanding) and was responsible for bricking dozens of AT&T One X's.
Feel free to edit the asserts out if you want to see for yourself.

Please stop posting. You are giving nothing but bad advice to the OP. He's in the correct forum, he needs to head to the 2 development selections.
OP, you are good to flash any ROM you want FROM THIS FORUM ONLY. Granted you have custom recovery. Hboot 1.09 will allow you to flash anything with no restrictions. So don't worry about fastboot or any boot.img. if you need any help with anything just ask in here and we'll give you proper advice.

It's not that my information that was useless. It was that the OP's Info was useless. He did not give me any information about his previous searches or attempts to find a sense rom for his phone. So I provided him with clearly obvious information to his question with the limited knowledge I know about this thread, assuming that there were no sense rom but not bothering to look yet again assuming that the OP had already looked and had no success. Now, if you're going to troll and carry on and not politely excuse me for being mistaken then you can leave this thread. Good day.

Yep. Hboot 1.14 and higher need fastboot or s-off to flash any image files. (Splash screens, kernels, recovery imgs)
So you having hboot 1.09 are home free. Find a ROM you're interested in, download onto phone. Wipe everything in twrp and flash the zip file and gapps in need be. Profit bro

If you don't know the device, you shouldn't be giving advice for it, leave it to the guys who know what they're talking about for this device.
By the way, the OP's information wasn't useless. He correctly identified his device, he gave his hboot version, and simply asked where to find ROMs for it.
