help with 2 dead moto g - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
i have 2 moto g here, they were 4.3 global gsm, xt 1032, unlocked bootloader fine, i had another moto g which i converted fine to GPE
i used MotoTool All In One 2.3 in order to convert them to GPE, but......failed
now both phones are stuck in fastboot, tried to install stock 4.4.2 motorola and i could not, fastboot drivers are fine i believe, tried to recover using this (no luck)
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img mfastboot flash logo logo.bin mfastboot flash boot boot.img mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1 mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2 mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3 mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin mfastboot erase modemst1 mfastboot erase modemst2 mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn mfastboot erase cache mfastboot erase userdata mfastboot reboot
so i have no ideas left
also, one of the moto it seem to run out of battery, i plugged but the phone does not show anything, it is like dead, using usb on pc, or wasll charger, no luck, dead
the other moto g is still stuck on fastboot menu, i guess it has no ROM to boot,

the phone doesnt flash roms through fastboot? any response?

For the one that has battery issue plug in charger and hold power button for 2 minutes then it should show charging symbol if not keep it plugged for an hour or so

buddy please try flash your moto g manually.. using CMD and all the fastboot commands... really is very strange issue.. and is more strange that your phones just boot on fastboot... are you reallay sure that you had installed the drivers, and your download was correct? i mean that if you complete the download... you are the first one with that issue buddy.. i hope you fix it
please follow this guide and give feedback please
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219

tried the hold 2 minutes and it came back to life
but i don´t know if the phone is charging while fastboot screen??????????
-----}
i will try to flash in a moment 4.3, then 4.4, then gpe
maybe it is a problem with my adb? but flashing gives an error, no rom is actually flashed to the phone,
will post log later
thanks

Try entering recovery then go mount and storage and mount data then back up your ROM and try reflashing the ROM if it still doesn't load then reflash your stock rom
Sent from my XT1034 using xda app-developers app

ok after tons of trying i guess i had a adb issue with the usb port, changed port and could flash ok
1 phone ready
the other, it was a pain to charge it alittle, does not charge by wall charger, only charges from usb in fastboot, but sometimes, very annoying
anyway
the phone 2, has a rom now, cool, but everytime i turn off/on the phone it goes straight to fastboot
how can i make it to boot into rom ???????
the rom is fine, but the phone restart into fastboot without pressing power+down

fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
this fix the problem

[Q] Moto G bootloop

I bought the dual sim version Moto G from Flipkart as it is only available in India.
Yesterday night i was listening to music at night, stopped it and kept it aside at night.
Today morning i found the lock screen was opening slowly, i thought rebooting the device would clear the problem.
Rebooted, but it went on Bootloop
Just the Motorola blue logo can be seen and next screen is black.
Tried going to recovery but again same bootloop, no android logo,
I didn't do anything with my phone, just used normal apps like whatsapp, facebook.
Had official 4.4 OTA updated a month back. Phone not rooted. Please help :'(
Flash the cwm recovery, wipe and reset data and try.. It might help you.. There are lots of guide to tell you how to flash cwm recovery using Fastboot .. A little Google search will help... Otherwise get the replacement from the flipkart if possible...

If you planning to go to service center, you just go ahead.. Don't do any flashing... If you wanna fix the issue yourself.. Flash the cwm give a try..

Just did a reflash of the stock firmware i already had but of no use :'( it still goes to bootloop.
Flash a stock ROM with the stock recovery, you will lose everyting but IT will surely work.
here search your factory firmware rom or whatever: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14
and use this to flash all files with minimal adb and fastboot
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot reboot
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot reboot
you can also replace mfastboot just with fastboot

[Help] Phone Bootloop

Hi guys, so i flashed a Moto G GPE rom onto my phone, got sick of seeing 3G rather then H or H+ and have decided to move back to Stock Retail.
I have a problem though when i use the guide on the FAQ ( the mfastboot way) everything i flash gets the okay appart from the system spasrsechunks? that gets some sort of error and it says error okay? Well apart from that after i reboot the phone, it has the warning sign but then uses the google bootanimation? ive left it on a good couple of minutes to see if it will boot but it doesnt seeem to want to..

Google animation means that you still have the gpe rom on your phone. This happened to me before when i flashed the GPE rom too. What you need to do is flash your firmware again. Download the stock firmware form this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219 Then what you need to do is run these commands MANUALLY! As in 1 by 1.
fastboot getvar max-sparse-size
fastboot oem fb_mode_set
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata

Moto G (2013) GPE 5.0.1 to Motorola´s 5.0.2

Hello guys, I´m in doubt here, and although i´ve been reading some posts, I cannot seem to understand the procedure to install Motorola´s 5.0.2 in my Moto G, actually on 5.0.1 GPE.
As far as I know, I need to wipe it off, then convert partitions to f2fs and then flash via custom recovery?
I´ve tried twice, but cannot install TWRP, will try with Phillz.
BTWy, my device is rooted and bootloader unlocked.
Thanx for any guidance you may lend me, I´m at work and cannot dwelve deep into hundreds of threads. I have already downloaded Blur_Version.210.12.40.falcon_umts.Brasil.en.BR.zip the official Motorola 5.0.2.
Thanks!!
you need the 4.4.4 firmware first and mfastboot v2 files to go back to stock motorola firmware.
and since you updated to 5.0.1 GPE, your bootloader has been updated, so when you downgrade to 4.4.4, you will see screen flickers.
Here are the commands, you must enter these commands one by one using command prompt (hold shift, and right click and choose open command window here) in the folder where the firmware files are (including the mfastboot files)
connect your phone to the computer with usb cable and type the command to go into the bootloader
adb reboot bootloader
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot reboot
and you need this firmware to be installed first before installing the lollipop update
XT1032_RETAIL-BR-SS_4.4.4_KXB21.14-L1.40_42_cid12_CFC_1FF
Thanx!
Well thank.you sir, very informative response.
Just to be super super-sure, no need to un-root or lock the bootloader right?

Hello guys I would like to do the same, I have the Gpe and install Motorola 5.0.2, but before I want to know how to fix the flicker screen, I don't get it using android but when I'm on twrp, it's annoying, do you have any idea how to fix it?

nice!
So i´ve flashed 5.0.2, with the method described here, it was *too* easy.
I did not, how ever, get the flickering screen bug...
So thanks again. and this is a safe way to go from gpe 5.0.1 to moto 5.0.2.

Thanks a ton bro...you made my day!!.....
anytime man!

1st Gen hangs at splash screen.

I was having some connectivity loss earlier, so I powered off, turned back on and on turning back on, I now get the initial splash screen and nothing further. Can boot into the boot menu and recovery. Tried wiping cache first, then factory reset. Neither option changed anything. Any suggestions?
Were you using stock ROM?

I apologize, this is completely stock. I left it on overnight (plugged in) and apparently the battery wouldn't charge in this state as it was dead this morning. Plugged it in and charged for a bit and then tried turning it on and it is doing the same thing as before - hanging up at the initial splash screen.
I am helping hipsterdoofus with his phone. I work in the same office.
The only thing I can do is get it into fastboot mode. I was able to get the drivers working in my PC.
When I run fastboot devices, it's showing the moto g.
The bootloader isn't unlocked. I tried to do a "fastboot boot recovery.img" to get it to temp boot into twrp, but it fails since the bootloader is locked.
Is it possible to unlock the bootloader from this state from the fastboot menu?
I assume we can't flash twrp from fastboot without the bootloader being unlocked.
I come from using a Nexus 5, so this device is quite a bit different than what I'm used to. Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions.
Just wanted to do an update.
I was able to unlock the bootloader, then I downloaded the GPE_5.1_XT1032_LMY47M.M001_CFC.xml.zip file from a link I found on the forum.
I followed the steps for restoring stock firmware in this thread.
I did the section for flashing from the xml.zip file:
Code:
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot reboot
If you get "(bootloader) Preflash validation failed" errors on the first two entries, you should be okay to ignore (something I read on another thread here).
After that, the phone rebooted. We weren't sure if it was ever going to finish booting up. It had the boot animation screen for quite some time before it finally loaded the OS.
So the good news is, the phone is booting up, and it's the GPE edition.
Bad news is, it's not detecting the SIM card.
If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them.
