I installed OmniROM Build#5. Didn't like it. Flashed CM11 beta#4. It went to boot animation. After that to optimizing apps. However, after optimizing apps, it went back to the boot animation. After the second time to the boot animation, it went to optimizing apps which this time didn't take really long. After that, guess what? It went back to the boot animation once again. I flashed CM11 beta#3: same problem. Tried to restore a backup I had made a couple days ago: failed. I installed OmniROM, works; but I want to go back to galaxyfreak's CM11.
When installing OmniROM, I had to wipe and install a half dozen times because GApps wasn't working properly.

Thanks for your concern. However, it turns out I had burnt my NAND (the /data partition). I used the Automated NAND Recovery and it's all fine now.

I put the update and recovery in the internal sd card. I installed tnt and when I rebooted I went into a boot loop.
I then put update.zip and recovery ( changing to sdcard2 in command) and I see the box. It installs then it reboots into a boot loop.
What should I try next?

Per this very imformative guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
If your tablet bootloops…
Press and hold the power button to shut the device down. Boot back into Clockwork. Select the advanced option at the bottom, then go to “partition SD card”, for the first option select 4096, and for the second option select 64. Then, redo steps 7-10.

Follow same procedure with microsd 2, but this time install Clockwork .8. Same setup with placing Clockwork on the device.
Once installed you can access Clockwork at power-up by pressing power + volume up. Once there, clear the cache and data (two options on main screen and use volume to scroll and home to select). You should boot up now. If not, some of the XDA elders may need to chime in to help.
If still in bootloop, open Clockwork again, but this time go to bottom to activate USB storage. Connect USB and then activate- this should show you the internal space. Place the TnT 2.4 update in the root of it (no recovery directory).
1. Deactivate USB storage
2. Clean cache and data
3. Chose install update.zip
4. Pick the update.zip
Should be out of the loop once complete.
Try a reflash, clear cache, wipe the user data (in that order, try the next if the previous did not work). Worst case scenario is re-partitioning the SD card which seems to work most of the time.
I have mentioned this before, but I really think that our devices are either not imaged properly or our SD partitions become corrupt over time. I would also argue that clockworkmod is really a requirement for anyone using these mods. It's so critical when problems like this occur.
I tried this:
Instructions for those with clockworkmod .08:
- Extract the RAR and place the update.zip file anywhere in /sdcard (do NOT just copy the original RAR, that won't work! You have to open up the RAR and copy the update.zip inside. You don't need the /recovery folder for cwm). I would recommend putting the file on the root of /sdcard, since it will be easier to upgrade that way.
- Reboot into recovery. Do a backup first, as that's always a good idea.
- Then, choose "apply sdcard:update.zip", assuming you added the update.zip to the root of /sdcard, and run it.
- Reboot.
Note: I have heard reports that this might "Status 7" and I have no fix for that, yet. It seems to be intermittent.

Clockworkmod v.08 only update.zip (for technical users only!) :
I installed the sd card update and I still get the same reboot loop. What am I doing wrong?
The flash was probably successful, but a boot loop occurred afterwards. This does happen. Since you have clockworkmod, you have a lot of things you can do, as I mentioned.
I got it running.
I fixed the adoble flash, installed a pdf viewer, and titanium backup.
I cant't see the tabs in titanium backup for some reason.
My screen does not auto rotate even thought its set to auto rotate.
Install Adw.Launcher , if you want it to rotate.
I just did an Odin 1 click to stock then proceeded to install rom manager after rooting and i cannot flash CWM recovery. every time i do it says there was an error downloading the recovery. is this a problem with just me or is it community wide? This is the same process I use every time to flash roms, and i can't think of anything i've done wrong this time around.
Can anyone confirm this? Im stuck on the stock captivate rom I really wanted to flash the gingerbread themed rom thismorning :/
Also i flashed back to stock a second time and re-did the root, but still i'm getting the same error in rm manager that there was an error downloading the recovery....
just copy this update.zip to your internal sd, it'll apply clockwork recovery, bypassing the Rom Manager install. No need to rename or anything
1)copy update.zip to internal sd
2)reboot into recovery
3)select reinstall packages (or whatever it is...can't remember exactly, but you should know what I'm talkin about)
4)it'll reboot, then you'll have Clockwork Recovery, and can do whatever
hope this helps ya.
I've found it significantly time saving if, after going back to stock in preparation for a new flash, you just copy this update.zip and the rom file to your internal sd, then reinstall packages to get clockwork off this update.zip, then immediately from there, you can flash the new rom. Totally saves time of having to root the 2.1 install, download rom manager, flash the recovery, reboot, copy rom to sd, then install...cuts flash time in half, it seems
Thank you so much! this worked for me

For anyone and everyone seeing this post, this method is considered the best and the most non-intrusive way. And yet, it gives complete functionality in recovery mode.
glad I could help. happy flashing!
Ok..so I've been using HTC explorer for 2-3 months and everything was going fine but the low internal memory kept bugging me so I rooted the phone (i delayed rooting because it voids warranty..)..I deleted the pre installed apps and all other unnecessary crap..but the internal memory was still low so I went for factory reset..:|..and thats how you get into bootloop but searching for solutions..i found that my problem can be solved by flashing new rom..so I downloaded 1 and flashed it (yes i followed all the steps like creating ext4 partition and wiping cache etc).. but suddenly 'can't open /sdcard/*rom*.zip (bad)' popped up..so I went through the forums but didn't found any approved solution but suggestions like re downloading the rom..or checking if signature verification is off or flashing any other rom..i tried all of them..i retried re downloading the rom..I tried flashing cm 9..explode^1..Jaggyrom..even the stock rom but nothing positive happened..I am clueless..Please Help...
What recovery did you flashed, another thing, try with another sd card, or repartiotion this one through recovery after that get some rom on it. If you have a card reader, check if the card is ok.
And don't rename zip's live them with their original names.

i flashed with A310e recovery...and the card is fine..I read somewhere to format the card with sdformatter and flash the rom from there and create the partition after the rom has booted..so i am trying that..I'll update you..thnx for reply btw.. :highfive:
Try installing CM10 Beta 2 on a clean, unformatted sd.
If that doesn't work, change your recovery.
Working fine
everything's alrite now..the thing that was causing the problem was the partitioned sd card...I removed partition and then flashed it and everything went well...
Hey guys. This is my first time installing anything on my phone so I'm going to sound very unexperienced but heres what ive done.
*Verizon Galaxy S3 i535. 4.1.2
*factory reset the phone to beign with (nothing important on it)
*got successful root
*downloaded cyanogenmod from cm website
*used goomanager for reboot
*created backup of internal storage, boot, and data
*wiped dalvik cache, system, data,cache
*went to install and tried to find cm files but were nowhere to be found.
So now I'm currently restoring to backup so i can reinstall the cm and gapps but I'm not sure if I am installing them correctly. Could somebody please inform me of the right way to get the files from my computer to my s3. Thanks so much.
Just a personal preference, but I move all my flashables to my SD card, in a unique folder, so they're easier to locate. Everything you've done sounds right... just save CM to your phone, then use a file manager to move the zip to your SD card. You should find the file easier on the SD card.
Hi all,
In my quest to breathe more life into my OP6, I've decided to install TWRP and Magisk. Once doing so, it seems that I cannot install apps or update some already preloaded apps - I get an error message saying that the app can't be downloaded and I need to install to a SD card or external USB storage.
The exact error reads: App requires external storage. (insert app name) can't be downloaded. Insert an SD card or USB storage with sufficient storage, and try again.
I tried to Google a solution but didn't really find anything. I've already tried to do a wipe with TWRP and reflashed the recovery and Magisk but am still getting the same error. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or missing a setting.
Any help would be appreciated. I'd like to stick to OOS but am not opposed to another ROM.
Currently on OOS 10.3.4, TWRP 3.4.0, and Magisk 20.4. Thanks.

Finally got it to fix itself after several system and dalvik wipes. Hope that works for you too. Also had to re-flash Magisk after every wipe.
Well... Here is the solution:
Download stock ROM ( 10.3.2 or higher). Download latest TWRP.zip from @mauronofrio - Link HERE
Then.
1. Boot to TWRP recovery
2. Format data.. (say yes when it's asked)
3. reboot to recovery
4. Move Stock ROM and downloaded TWRP to your internal sdcard.
5. Flash Stock ROM.zip + TWRP.zip -> reboot to recovery -> Flash Stock ROM.
6. Boot to Stock recovery
7. erase everything in your internal SD card. (Trivial part)
8. Boot to System and set your device.
Voila.
After this... You can flash TWRP and Magisk as it's recommended in several guides for enchilada....
That worked for me.
