Somehow when I tried going back to twrp from cwm recovery I messed up my phone. I was running a custom rom and had bootloader unlocked. I manager to get back into download mode after using a jig.
I tried odin back to stock files and tried the root66 guide method but after sucessfully getting a complete in odin dozens of times I still cant get phone to boot up. When it starts up I get custom lock boot and then verizon System software not authorized method. I have completely followed every guide I can find with passing odin results.
Does anyone have any idea what I can try doing to fix this?
Would JTag possibly fix this?

It's still a soft brick, no need to jtag, try using this file with the same guide:

Im still downloading that file to try it. In the meantime I have tried this again.
Without reseting I tried the vralec and vralf files with only reboot time selected and then root66 with reboot, reset time, and nand erase all.
I have also tried substituting the last file with HOME_I535VRALF2_I535VZWALF2_618049_REV09_user_low_ship.tar
VRALEC.bootchain.tar
BOOTLOADER_I535VRALF2_618049_REV09_user_low_ship.tar
root66_VZW_I535VRBMA2
I have used theses files in the past to fix my phone but doesn't seem to make a difference this time. I was on a slimbeam 4.3 rom before all this fiasco if that matters. I have also tried changing usb cords and ports. Everytime I get passing results though in Odin 3.07
Any other ideas much appreciated

after trying KIES_HOME_I535VRBMF1_1152558_REV09_user_low_ship.tar my phone will not turn on or do anything now. Now it really seems bricked.
I managed to get my phone back on and into download mode using sdcard with debrick. Too bad I still cant get it to boot the rest of the way up.
Is KIES_HOME_I535VRBMF1_1152558_REV09_user_low_ship.tar supposed to be used in Odin or Kies? I never used kies before.

Posted this in the Kies ICS update thread as well .. can anyone help?
Ok, so I'm at the Firmware upgrade and initialization screen in Kies ... it's been stuck at 2% for about 20 minutes now. I'm assuming this is a problem. Anyone have advice on what I should do? Let it go ... disconnect, restore with CWM and try again?
My config when I started:
GB 2.3.6 - rooted, cwm touch installed
(Running on Windows 7 through VMWare on a MacBook Pro if that matters)
You need to be on stock recovery for it to work.

Damn.
So ... do I pull the plug, restore to the CWM backup I ran before running the update and then flash the stock recovery on it?
Odin back to 2.3 stock and it flashes stock recovery.

Thanks man, I'll give it a rip and post an update in a bit.
ODIN hates me.
I wasn't able to flash anything with odin, it just kept failing or hanging.
Fortunately, I was able to use CWM to recover so I got back up and running on my rooted 2.3.6 setup.
I tried Kies update again, same result. Ran through the download, then hit 2% on the install and hung. Odd thing is, Odin lets me flash CWM and I was able to recover with that again. But, Odin continues to fail on ROM flashes. This just doesn't make sense.

Sorry, I mean firmware via Odin. I should be more careful with my words
So I'm not sure what went wrong or where but with in the last couple of days, I rebooted my phone and in loaded into odin with "could not boot normally." I could get passed this is using odin to flash some rooted images but no matter what I try, I can not get the bootloader unlocked. I can get root, recovery, and custom roms. However, every method I have tried won't unlock the bootloader and every reboot after a flash other than a stock rooted image will reboot into odin with the "could not boot normaly."
All help is appreciated.

You have to an unlocked bootloader to get recovery installed. So if you can reboot into a custom recovery then you have an unlocked bootloader

True, but my Qualcomm Secureboot is always Enabled. And when I flash a rom and reboot during the rom, it goes to Odin saying could not boot normally.
I did try Hero's softbrick method and I got the same results. It's like the unsecured aboot doesn't stick. Do I need a to facepalm myself somewhere? I'm seriously lost.

Ignore that Secureboot enabled message. It will always say that no matter what. It's been discussed that its a bug. Hang on and I'll link u to method of unlocking and rooting works no matter what. Doesn't rely on unsecure aboot images either
This works everytime. I recommend flashing the stock Image AND STOCK BOOTCHAIN or recovery won't install. Those are listed at the bottom of the tutorial. If you are on stock just install the stock bootchain

Alright, thank you. Hopefully this hold because getting stuck in odin is beginning to get annoying as well as being on a stock rom the last few days.
Hi guys,
3 days ago I had root but softbricked by installing hyperdrive when "I thought" I unlocked via ez-unlock but I guess that didn't take. Tried to restore back to stock but couldn't, I lost access to CWM and Odin nor Heimdall (Mac, Linux and Windows) didn't like my phone in 3 computers using 3 different cables.
But from continuous failed/incomplete/partial flashes, CWM is miraculously back! So that's like my only glimmer of hope right now. So my question is could I get back to stock or any rom from flashing something from CWM? Could I get ANY kind of ROM running again, could I root again, unlock bootloader and install new rom via CWM.. Basically can I fix my phone from CWM? Or is the only way back to any rom is via stock via Odin/Heimdall?
PLEASE HELP.

So confusing....
Ok, so you're on a stock rom right now and you have cwm installed? You must have some type of root enabled, do you have supersu or superuser installed? If you don't you need to install one from the playstore.
If you have cwm, then all you need to do is use ez unlock to unlock your bootloader then you can flash away. Use version 1.2, you likely used 1.4 which doesn't always work.

I'm really sorry about the confusion.
I came from a stock rooted, "unlocked" rom, it had CWM touch installed. Then I tried to install Hyperdrive.. Install went well via aroma.. But after reboot I got the verizon unauthorized error and I lost access to CWM Touch but I could go into download mode... Now here's where the confusion starts...
I tried to flash back to stock via Odin. Each and every single time it failed after a few files. Believe me I looked for a solution as in several solutions all of which failed until my last flash which also failed but installed a few more files before it failed and I dunno I got CWM Touch back.
Hence the reason why I'm asking if I could fix my phone via CWM because Odin is crazy and Heimdall is also picky.

So you can get into download mode just fine? You need to use a better USB cable and try a different port on your computer. It should be able to flash, but if you're using a lower quality cable than what came with the phone it might be your issue.
This guide should work if you can't get a normal flash back to stock work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030
Basically, the only other way I know of to go back to stock without a pc is to use mobile Odin, but that needs root access. There's no file you can flash in recovery to go completely back to stock as it will still leave you with a custom recovery installed.

I finally got into my rom, after flashing the first boot chain (vralec) Odin messed up again, couldn't flash the 2nd one nor root66 so I pulled my batt and I guess the first vralec gave me stock recovery n just let me boot into my rom, installed twrp and ez unlock 1.2 from there, rebooted into twrp and then installed TkROM.
Thanks for all the help.

My phone has been soft bricked after trying to flash the latest dkp kernel. I was using philz touch recovery and I tried to flash dkp kernel 3-20 build, and I got an error during flashing saying that it couldn't decompress the ramdisk. So I tried to flash the older version of dkp that I was using, and it failed to flash! I have never had problems like this before. So now my phone will not boot to system or go back to recovery. I can only access download mode. I was using CM11 with the ML1 modem and dkp kernel before my phone got bricked. It really frustrates me that my phone just randomly decided to freak out and brick itself, because I've been doing the same thing forever and never had any problems flashing a kernel. Please tell me how I can fix my phone. Thank you.

I did an ODIN back to stock MF1. In ODIN it says "Pass!" above the com port, and it also says <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0). However, my phone has been stuck on the 4G LTE screen with the colorful rings for around 15 minutes and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. What should I do?
Pull battery out and reboot.. Thats mentioned on instructions.

Well when I pulled the battery and tried to reboot a samsung logo with an unlocked symbol was underneath it and it still gets stuck on the 4g LTE screen. Also, it won't allow me to enter the recovery.
So I went back to download mode on my screen and i noticed that it still says "System Status: Custom"

You have to be able to boot into recovery, make sure you hold the volume up + home for an extended period of time.
If you can't, you need to Odin the stock rom and try again.

The ODIN to stock did not work correctly. Maybe I need a different MF1 tar file. Can someone point me to a link for it? I have searched an can't find a completely stock MF1 file.

Don't know what else to tell you, it's a completely stock file.
Recovery, system, kernel, and bootloader.
If you can't boot into recovery it must've not flashed perfectly or something else is wrong, like your hardware.

I highly doubt that it is a hardware issue. I just tried to ODIN again and I'm in the same situation. One thing that I have noticed is that it tries to reinstall the MTP driver after using ODIN and it fails to install.
EDIT: Nevermind. I was able to enter recovery this time. I just did a factory reset. Hopefully it boots now. I will report back with results.
UPDATE: Ok. Everything seems fine now. Used casual to root and unlock bootloader again. Then installed PhilZ Touch Recovery. Now I am making a backup, and I am going to flash a Kit Kat Rom.
My backup phone is an S5 and I was messing around with roms. I had been flashing roms for a while using twrp no problem. I forget what I selected, maybe factory data reset or some other option to do I wipe. But now everything is gone. I cannot even get into a recovery program anymore.
Pulled battery and booted up, it will say recovery loading and then you see the spinning android robot but then it gets stuck. I tried loading the ROMs onto the SD card. That is of no use since I cant even get into the recovery. What the heck did I do?

agreed, you probably borked the recovery somehow. Odin either the stock OS back and itll put stock recovery back, or just Odin twrp in it again. Be careful going past OK4 if youre gonna Odin the stock setup back on it as rooting after OK4 and ROM compatibility based on baseband can be a PITA
