So I'm not sure what went wrong or where but with in the last couple of days, I rebooted my phone and in loaded into odin with "could not boot normally." I could get passed this is using odin to flash some rooted images but no matter what I try, I can not get the bootloader unlocked. I can get root, recovery, and custom roms. However, every method I have tried won't unlock the bootloader and every reboot after a flash other than a stock rooted image will reboot into odin with the "could not boot normaly."
All help is appreciated.

You have to an unlocked bootloader to get recovery installed. So if you can reboot into a custom recovery then you have an unlocked bootloader

True, but my Qualcomm Secureboot is always Enabled. And when I flash a rom and reboot during the rom, it goes to Odin saying could not boot normally.
I did try Hero's softbrick method and I got the same results. It's like the unsecured aboot doesn't stick. Do I need a to facepalm myself somewhere? I'm seriously lost.

Ignore that Secureboot enabled message. It will always say that no matter what. It's been discussed that its a bug. Hang on and I'll link u to method of unlocking and rooting works no matter what. Doesn't rely on unsecure aboot images either
This works everytime. I recommend flashing the stock Image AND STOCK BOOTCHAIN or recovery won't install. Those are listed at the bottom of the tutorial. If you are on stock just install the stock bootchain

Alright, thank you. Hopefully this hold because getting stuck in odin is beginning to get annoying as well as being on a stock rom the last few days.

Long time Galaxy Nexus user and I just received my S3 yesterday in the mail!
Of course I couldn't wait to root and unlock it using the very helpful thread RootDebug, EZ-Unlock11 and EZ-Recovery2.2. Via Odin I then flashed the latest CWM 6.0.1.2. At that point I attempted to flash via CWM the Unofficial CM10 JB Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788443). Everything seemed to go just fine but it hung at boot up for 20 minutes. In my haste to play I did not clear the cache which could have been the reason. At that point I pulled the battery and rebooted only to get the infamous message to take my phone to a VZW dealer. After countless trouble free flashes I suppose it was bound to happen at some point.
So via the recovery thread I loaded VRALEC, VRALF, and stock.vwx.root66.tar from the SoftBrick thread to get back up and running. Now however I cannot reflash CWM via Odin. It always fails and on my phone it says "secure check fail : recovery".
I rebooted the phone, computer, and otherwise havent changed anything.
Suggestions to get CWM back on my phone?
Thanks!
J
I did not see that you unlocked the bootloader.
Assuming you performed the Soft Brick guide successfully, what happens when you boot into the rom and download EZ Recovery and flash CWM? You mention flashing CWM only through Odin in your post.

I can boot into CWM 6.0.1.0 via the EZ recovery app
I did get a message i've never seen before upon exit of CWM. "ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?" I selected Yes - Disable recovery flash
Thanks again for your input!
follow my guide...link in sig!
That message only has bearing if your running the stock rom. Custom rom's will not flash original recovery. Choosing yes or no only matters on stock, will not make any changes on a custom rom

you can always try to flash the new cwm thru ez recovery. Just take the recovery zip and save it to your SD card then go to ex recovery and select custom then select your path to the zip you put on your SD card and flash then reboot and it should have flashed the new cwm without even using Odin. Also make sure you have ez unlock installed and unlocked just to make sure the boot loader is unlocked. Better to be safe than sorry.

Picked up an inspire 4g off of cl.Paid 20 for it because it had no battery. Put a batter in it and it boots to the htc screen, black screen, then reboots. Volume down was broken but I fixed it and am able to enter hboot. Phone had already been unlocked through htcdev. So I relocked it and ran the newest 3.20 RUU. It completed successfully and rebooted. However, it does the same thing. So I tried to factory reset it through bootloader. Again it just reboots and does the same thing. So I decided to try to htc dev unlock it and flash a custom recovery. Everything went smooth and recovery flashed. But when I select recovery in bootloader it does the same bootloop over again. Again I've tried using the latest RUU to no avail. Ive tried everything I know of to do. I'm out of ideas. It seems like a great phone and I really want to fix this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
If the bootloader is unlocked and you can flash a ROM, fastboot flash the boot.img from the ROM zip and see if it works. Detailed instructions in my signature.

Unfortunately I can't enter recovery to flash a rom. It just reboots at the white screen. The only thing I was able to flash was the stock RUU. And it still didn't boot. I've also tried flashing recoveries but that doesn't work either. It flashes successfully but never boots into it.

Ive searched everywhere but can find this anwer.
I followed these instructions to the tee. like 4 times...
using the guide and downloads from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2046439
I can get root.. but when I tryed to installed CM10.1. I got the error message saying I tryed to install a unauthroized softwared.. contact verizon...
so I reflashed back to stock.. did those instructions..again..... and when I boot into ODIN it says QAULCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
Im assuming this means by phone is not Unlocked correct?
1 step was different for me in the instcutions......
In this step...
"Step 4 - Rooting Your Device and Unlocking Your Bootloader
Quote:
Using your custom recovery flash the download you chose above from Step 1 (#3)
Upon exiting your custom recovery to reboot first time, you will be asked if you want to "Disable recovery flash", you MUST select Yes"
I don't get the prompt asking me to disable recovery flash.. .it just reboots..???
I tryed installed the other recovery mod.. but it still says QAULCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
Any one have any ideas?

Try to root first on a stock ROM without unlocking bootloader, load a custom recovery, then download ez unlock 1.2 and unlock it from within your ROM. Then check Odin mode again to see if it still says enabled.

Well if 1.2 says you're unlocked I'd say it is. I'm not sure if secure boot stays there or not, but I think you're unlocked.
It might just think secure boot is still enabled. The worst that will happen is you have to Odin back to stock again.

I remember hearing this: when your phone boots up normally is there a quick flash of the gs3 logo? If so bootloader is unlocked.

I updated to MF1, and it changed my recovery from ClockWork Touch to a much more basic recovery mode (rom manager says CWR and TWRP are both installed). I tried to flash basic clockwork using rom manager and as it reboot I got a message saying "software not authorized" and it would not boot.
I just used ODIN to flash the VRALEC boot chain which allowed the phone to boot. I still seem to have still have MF1. Step 6 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439 says to then install the correct boot chain, but i dont see one for MF1 yet.
I then tried ODIN to flash CWR from the the above post with the same results (had to re odin vralec).
1. Should I ODIN the VRBMD3 boot chain in the mean time?
2. How do I get ClockWork Recover for MF1, touch or regular?

1. No, you don't have to change the bootchain. Vralec is just an old ics bootchain and should run fine.
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096735
Use ez recovery to flash the most recent CWM recovery, touch or non-touch should both work great. Don't use rom manager anymore until it's updated, that's the second report I've seen of it doing that.

EZ-Recovery worked, but i also think i did something different inside CWR. It asked me if I wanted to disable something and this time I said yes.

Good, if you say no it'll reinstall the stock recovery and you don't want that. The recovery you were seeing is the stock recovery, very basic with the hardly any options.

Hi guys. I have a Verizon S3 that is out of warranty that I've decided to mess around with since I've already upgraded to a G2. I tried to flash ClockworkMod Recovery using heimdall, but couldn't get it to work. Since I couldn't get heimdall to work, I rooted and installed ROM Manager, then installed ClockworkMod Recovery from there. When I rebooted to get into recovery it says "Verizon has encountered unauthorized software" and wouldn't let me in. I booted normally, then tried to go into recovery from ROM Manager. I get the same message, but now I'm stuck in a recovery loop. I've tried flashing back through heimdall and Odin, but neither one is working for me.
I can get into download just fine, but everything I try to flash with Odin gets me a big FAIL message. Any suggestions? The phone was upgraded to 4.3 before I got a hold of it, which is probably my main issue.
Try flashing ORIGINAL STOCK. You have a locked bootloader and will not be able to install a custom recovery or any custom rom. But, once you're up and running you can root it.
