Just a quick question guys.
1. the official ota updates from google only work with the stock rom right? does it matter if the phone is rooted or not? so if the phone is rooted, do the ota updates work?
2. if i want to get back from a rooted rom/cm7 rom/miui rum/... to a complete stock rom (with stock recovery, etc.) so total stock i just flash the official 2.3.6 version from google via recovery and everything is normal, right? so if i am back to the stock, the ota updates should work?
thanks guys
nobody?
Yes the OTA updates would work for a complete stock ROM even if you have rooted it, After the update you would have stock recovery and would lose root.
Wht if ur on stock rom but have matrix kernel will it work then?

I think you need to be fully stock, ROM + Kernel. I might be wrong though.
Hi,2 weeks ago I was trying to install custom rom on my galaxy pro GTB750 using rom manager.while I was trying to take a stock rom backup my handset got bricked.however I had a warrenty and so they fixed my set for free.they have changed the motherboard.well,I rooted my set again today.this time I am not going to try custom rom.I wish to install a zip file, where they are saying to install via clockworkmod recovery.
Should I try it? How to install cwm? Via rom manager? Last time I did not found my handset on rom manager's cwm version list. but I selected another version and they said successfully installed.
Feel free to suggest me.I am not afraid of brick my phone and you do not have to take responsibility for suggesting me.

Hi fellow xda buddies.. im a newbie and i have a problem,, please help me sort it out
sir, i have a galaxy r.. i had gb 2.3.5 installed on my phone as stock but then i rooted stock rom using odin and then flashed ics nordic stock rom over gb through odin following the standard procedure given in guides.. and it worked like a charm..
the problem is i cant install cwm on my phone .. ive tried flashing cwm 4.0.0.2 tar file on ics but it isnt rooted and to root ics.. the guide mentions cwm is required.. so i cant find a way to get cwm on my phone
and im afraid to simply downgrade to gb from ics .. i need to have a system backup in case but that needs cwm installed and rooted phone...
and about a week ago.. ive flashed ics taiwan release rom over nordic rom through odin and it works great but how do i get cwm on ics
and if i sound completely confused... well yess i am.. but i hope you forgive my little knowledge bout the matter
Its same way how you flashed it on GB...
Just go through this link downloade any version of CWM and flash it...

Your going to want to do some research, if you upgrade via fxz I believe you have no safe way to get back to GB....
However...
If you upgrade to leak 1 via jimbridgmans method there is a safe way to get back....
After deciding which method to use, install atrix bootstrap and pick your ROM... I say bootstrap cause its the most supported...
Good luck and enjoy....

If your phone is not from AT&T, and you install the upgrade that Pzyduck upload, you won't be able to downgrade to GB.
Hello xda forum,
i own the before mentioned phone and recenty i tried to flash some custom roms on it but every time it wouldnt boot into system.
firstly i installed CWM with odin and rooted the phone, everything worked fine.
but after flashing any custom rom i tried (axxion, unofficial cm11, sazy and something else i think) it stops at samsung galaxy s2+ black and white screen for hours. or sometimes loops the same screen with few seconds of blank screen in between.
i flashed the stock back with odin and it worked fine, repeated cwm flashing and rooting, flashed custom rom. repeated that at least 4-5 times with same results.
my goal is to flash resurrection remix but it said
"Make sure you are either on any KitKat ROM (CM11, SlimKat, etc) or on 4.2.2 TW based ROM and NOT on 4.1.2 TW based ROM"
so i tried to flash cm11 before.
also tried the solution i found on forums (wiping dalvik cache and wiping cache numerous times, fixing permissions and all that with no luck)
i can acess CWM and download mode without problem but cant boot into system, only if i load a backup or flash a stock.
bump
anyone? pls help
im out of ideas
First of all, is ur Stock Rom 4.1.2 or 4.2.2? U can't flash cm11 or resurrection rom(or any other roms) if u have 4.1.2.

thanks for reply,
my stock is 4.1.2. therefore i need to update to 4.2.2 first?
can you send me a link or something as a guide or ill search for it.
which basically means i need to flash 4.2.2. then cm11 and then resurrection?
or i am doomed to use stock?
Yes, u need flash 4.2.2 first and then custom rom. Custom roms don't work with 4.1.2 bootloader. U can find good guides if u search "how to flash Stock rom"

Edit* And i "cm11 or resurrectuon remix " u can flash any rom what u want.
