I will continue reading and researching as i finish this post.
Besides being brand new from google any reason to not to help the guys selling a Used but new condition?
Are there any versions to watch out for.? like will new be one that is harder to root or custom roms.?( i know with my Tf101 they had more than one that had diff rules for updating .
Are there any big diff from the diff versions (if exist). What was fixed/ made worse.
To help im on Att and i know it will work with my lte but Is a call still needed to att even though im LTE on a SGS4?
Just to explain why i ask this as i know the gurus here can answer most my questions quicker than i can search due to my inability to spell worth a crap.
Thanks ahead.
I'd help you but your username insults me. Concede, and admit that Ford makes hands down the best trucks on the planet, and maybe, MAYBE I shall provide the assistance that you so requested.

Ok, you're off the hook
Two versions- one for North America (D820) and one for the rest of the world (D821)- order from the play store and you'll be fine. I'd get it new, it's cheap enough and then you're protected by Google's warranty and their customer service is pretty excellent.
It's a Nexus so rooting is as easy as can be, just unlock the bootloader, flash or boot a custom recovery, and flash SU. Voila.
Since you're on AT&T, just pop the sim out of your GS4 and put it into the N5 and it'll work just like that. I switch between my Moto X and N5 daily.
Hope that answers all your questions.

There's only one hardware version. Rev 11 I believe. Anything you might have heard about a new revision is just conjecture.

You can check the hardware revision by going into bootloader mode (hold down both VOLUME DOWN & POWER at the same time until the bootloader pop up). As far as I know the latest hardware revision says "rev 11". I can not confirm if there really is a previous hardware revision and a new one because some users are saying there's no such thing and others are saying there is.

By the way, don't punk out. You're screen name is a great one. Chevy all day!!! Although I've always had a thing for a Foxbody Stang. My first car was a 87 LX with a bcam, longtubes, H-pipe, T-5 and 373's. It was pretty quick.

Ive had 7 diff stangs and only one chevy wanna be race car and that was a camaro i gladly sold.
So im guess this quote
"When did you purchase it? Is this rev 2 of the nexus? (larger speaker grills, etc)"
and this description
"Up for grabs today is a barely used Nexus 5 32GB. What you see is not a stock photo but a picture of what is actually available. As you can see in the pictures you have the original box with all the accessories. The Nexus 5 underwent revisions that have been released and this is the 311k revision"
That are both from the swappa section are what?

311k is not the revision. That's the date it was built. I believe "11" equals November which is the 11th month and I believe "3" equal 2013. For example the newest version will be 402k.
The "supposed" hardware revision must be for behind the scenes things that we don't physically notice because even the brand new red version still has the same size speaker holes/grill.

You know nothing is more responsive and cheaper to gain performance than a 350 Chevy versus Fords 351. The only thing Ford has that's better than Chevy is the F150 and they're 9 inch rear!

I never liked GMs. I had a 1500 and it just wasn't a very good truck. I'm Ford all the way, my last one was a gorgeous mint '95 Bronco. That said, I'm currently driving a '13 Dodge Challenger R/T Blacktop. Next vehicle will hopefully be a Ford Raptor.

Notice you picked all the Ford trucks and not the cars. I admit Ford is the leader when it comes to their trucks but that's about where it stop.
I love the Challenger out of all the Retro Muscle cars of its year. The Camaro and Mustang don't look as good. Also the Challenger sounds reminiscent of a 5.0 Mustang once you get exhaust and I love that old classic 5.0 sound! It reminds me of my childhood (I'm 24).

Yeah, my Ford loyalty starts and stops with their trucks, but seeing as though aside from the Challenger I've only ever owned trucks, I don't have much experience with their cars. While I'm not a fan of Camaros at all, I actually do like the Mustang, but literally EVERYONE drives one around here so they kinda lost their wow factor. I used to drool over the '70 Challenger T/A when I was a kid so that's kinda why I bought this one. Dodge really nailed the retro look, and the moment I saw the Blacktop I was sold. I haven't put exhaust on it yet but it's coming, eventually.

Have you heard the Challengers with exhaust? They sound so good!!! Please tell me yours is a manual. My only gripe with the Challenger is that its the heaviest out of all the retro Muscle cars so its a bit slower in the quarter mile but I know a guy around my way that has a matte black one with a supercharger. He claims he's putting out close to 800hp. The engine is stroked/bored also.

Yeah they sound sick with exhaust. I'm planning on throwing on the mopar branded Borla exhaust once I save up a little extra cash. It's got a real nice tone when you go WOT, but isn't too loud when you're just driving through the neighborhood.
It's an auto. It's my daily driver and I figured I'd grow tired of the stick after a while. I did have to sleep on that decision though. I'm an old man now, and when I drive I just want to relax and do the minimal required work lol. Yeah, it is heavy, and not as fast as the other two but it's fast enough for me. Again, I'm a truck guy so I've never driven anything this fast before. It's a much larger car than the other two and it's a LOT more roomy. Fair trade off. It's got a built in 0-60 timer and I did 4.9 out of the toll booth the other day. Not to shabby.

I do love that its roomy as well. Its definitely reminiscent of the muscle cars back in the day. The Muscles cars back then were a 2 door sedan unopposed to a 2 door coupe like what we have now. I love my dads Buick Grand National which is very roomy although some may claim it isn't a true muscle car since its a turbo v6 (from the factory), he now have a built big block 396 cranking out 600+ horses all motor.

It actually is a 2 door sedan- it's a shortened LX platform which is what the Charger and 300 are built on. And since it's a 2 door sedan, my insurance company doesn't consider it a sports car, and my premium is dirt cheap. Nice bonus. It would have been double had I got a Mustang. And yeah, call them what you will but Grand Nationals are gorgeous cars. One of my old neighbors had an '87 Grand National and an '87 Monte Carlo fastback. Wasn't a huge fan of the look of the fastback but man that Grand National was beautiful.

Nothing like a GN or a GNX in the mid 80's. It was a grocery getter, very quiet and very fast. My dad told me that he raced a GN with a Monte Carlo he had and after he lost he knew he had to get one. He thought he got beat by a Regal. At the time he had no idea what it was. After that he literally owned over 10+ (of course not all at once).
Now his prized possession is his 92 Typhoon. He won't sell it for nothing. He had it since 94.

The antenna problem is terrible enough, on top of the extremely conductive material of the iPhone making it super hot after awhile of heavy usage.
Sprint just placed an order with Apple for an astounding 20 billion dollars. Apple better have something real special up their sleeves or Sprint is toast.
via Engadget
Luckily we'll know soon enough. Personally I can't wait to see what the iPhone 5 brings!
the iphone heading to sprint seems to be the CDMA version of iphone4s available in black or white as it was leaked on the website
source http://mobilesyrup.com/2011/10/01/a...and-its-design-within-the-latest-itunes-beta/
so i doubt it's the iphone5
in other words... people in sprint will be more happy enjoying the SGS2 LTE than iphone4S

Well what I do expect is a great overall piece of hardware with maybe a few nicks here or there like every phone has. Software wise I don't see it as bringing anything substantially new. It's like the gingerbread update, or maybe a 2.3.4-2.3.5.

I think Sprint will be fine. It's in Apple's best interest to see Sprint survive. A duopoly would not only screw over the customers but also the phone manufacturers.

I hope this is appropriate but was wondering if any of the Devs for this device plan on doing any work for the Nexus 4 ? I have been on the My Touch since the day it came out and have finally purchased me a new Nexus 4 and honestly It would be awesome to see some of your work over there as well.
My son is inheriting the My Touch 4g so I will not be completely leaving but something honest feels strange about moving on from this phone. Don't get me wrong I am way excited about the Nexus 4 experience though
Thank you all again for everything you have brought to the My Touch World!!!
The N4 has tons of developers. No need to bring some from a device that should have been dead a year ago.
I am not sure I understand what your saying ? My Touch should have been dead a year ago so there's no point in adding a Nexus 4 as a phone that a DEV would build for ? I would think a lot of DEVS write for more than one phone anyway?

NO! The mt4g is going to live on! Do you realize that right now the mt4g has a more recent version (the most recent one, 4.2.2)of android through custom rooms than MOST new phones? HOW BOUT THAT?! The mytouch 4g is never going to die. There is a lot of love for this oldie, and people really like the hardware. Jelly bean actually runs faster than gingerbread on my particular device! Not only that, but its actually a popular phone. You can still see many people walking around with a mt4g.

There is always a newer, more powerful phone right around the corner. Quite frankly a LOT of people are sick to death of HTC's locked down bootloaders, HTC Dev, and slow updates. While the Nexus 4 is simple, it's quite literally made for nerds. Unlocking the bootloader is as simple as a single fastboot command. From there it's gravy. To each his own, though. The beauty of Android is choice.

The Nexus 4 is a "QUALITY" device.
The price is low b/c Google sells their devices at prices close to how much it costs to make the device. The phone is actually more expensive at other retailers than the $299 8gb model you saw on Google Play. The phone is $599 if you buy it from Best Buy for example.
As far as "you get what you pay for", that can be interpreted to be negative for something "cheap" and something "expensive"
For example: Buying a crappy 10in, off-brand no name Android tablet w/ an 800x480 resolution and a dual core 1ghz processor for maybe $79.99
Second example: Buying an apple product. Nuff said.
But while we're talking about apple, I should mention that the iPhone 5 costs apple roughly ~$200 to make. Let that soak in.

Since your therory is that the Nexus 4 is so much more valuable than $299.00. I have a great ideal for you.
Buy 100 of them at $299 with tax and shipping the final price should be around $350 per phone. Total price= $35000.00
List them on Ebay for 599.00 plus free shipping and no taxes Total sales would be $59900.00 - $6000 for shipping and fees Grand Total Sales =53900.00
Your profit would be $18,900.00 How could you turn down that much easy money? Hell if you can't do a 100. Do 5 that would be almost a $1000.00 profit
Some how I don't think your theroy would work. I just seen a brand new in the box on a buy it now for $325.00 shipping included.
A value of an object is what market will bear. Nothing else. The reason Google is selling them so cheap is they found one of the cheapest manufacturers to make them. Do you actually think that they would be selling at $299 if Samsung or Htc made them?
Nothing to learn here other than a Nexus 4 is worth about $299.00. In a few months $150.00

You are completely fixating on an irrelevant point. All he is saying is just because it is priced competitively, doesn't mean its a low quality device. You need to understand that you can't judge the quality of a device by the markup a cell phone carrier may make. For example, T-Mobile charges 413 dollars for a Galaxy S2, no way in hell that STILL costs that much to build a plastic phone, but, by your logic, the build quality would be better and it would be a WAY better phone. See what i am getting at? Don't go around trying to be argumentative and douchey, i saw your post on the B.S. thread. Take it down a notch.

This is what I said "Bottom line for me is QUALITY. And I just don't see it in the Nexus 4" And I still don't.
I'm hearing rumors that the back cracks around the camera and it's easily scratched. If that's the case I don't consider that a quality build. Really don't want a phone that looks two years old after 6 months.
As far as cost. Other people brought that into the equation. Which was really irrelevent because my statement was always about build quality. Period! But I respo
nded because i felt I was getting smoke blown up my A** It doesn't matter if the phone is $299 or $599 if it has issues I don't want it.
This is just one of the articles I've read.

All phones have issues. HTC can definitely attest to that. Never seen one of theirs that didn't. There is no perfect phone.
My N4 hasn't cracked because I keep a bumper on it and my back isn't scratched because I keep a clear protector on it. The phone still looks amazing. Problem solved. By the way, I work outside, every weekday, regardless of the weather. I have zero issues with the quality of the build of this device and I have it in my hand every day. I also came from a myTouch 4G, so I know what solid build quality feels like.
so it is almost time to upgrade and i wanted everyones opinion. should i get the note 2 or the nexus 4? they both look sweet!

Note 2. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Love mine.
You get performance out the wazoo, replaceable HUGE battery, sd card, multi Window, S pen, the development community is starting to pick up (the at&t guys roms are generally flashable to the tmo device), video playback is unbelievable, LTE is just around the corner, it's not an LG...
You can also walk into the store and buy one now. Nexus 4, maybe?
Downsides? The screen is huge, seems more fragile than other devices. Device size means that you will definitely need to play with one on the store before buying. It felt weird to me at the store but I took the plunge. Two days into owning before I decided that size was no big deal. It suffers from the Samsung device general weaknesses such as risk of imei loss and the goofy flash counter thing (these things can more or less be worked around). Obviously there is no physical keyboard.
This thing is awesome.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

I too have never really liked LG phones. And despite the quad in the nexus being a bit more powerful, the Note 2 has a lot more to offer in terms of features.
Note II because you can always get a nexus ROM on a bigger screen

Sorry man, that really sucks. Did it have tracking? or is there any way to find out at what point it got lost? But if it was sent in December then there might be a hold up somewhere. Most of the errors in postage happen around that time. Anyway, before you completely settle for the Nexus I think you should check out the Note II. I think it's worth it man.

I can't really afford the 299 dollar price tag the nexus comes with but my girl told me I'm not allowed to go without a cell phone so I should buy myself a device ill be happy with and spec wise its all I will need for the coming years.

That's sort of what I was thinking about. If I replace my MT4GS, I want a quad core with good support. I've been leaning towards an unlocked HTC One X or a Nexus 4 on StraightTalk's $45 unlimited plan. Finding a One X without a cracked or replaced digitizer is not easy.
Okay guys, if all goes well and I can grab the Nexus 4 today off craigslist for 350 this will be my last day on the doubleshot. I have to start emailing the posters to see if they still have them but I got the cash for my Nexus just have to get it in time.
I will NOT leave you guys out in the cold either. Ill still be around and will still do everything in my power to help you guys. And to think my mind went absent enough to think about iOS....anyways I hope to move some SWaRM stuff to the nexus as well

Well there really isn't enough phone to judge the build quality. It kinda feels awkward in my hands too, but I'm a little dude so I'll get used to it. Its super thin and really light weight, but being all glass the back tends to get slick if you have sweaty hands, and gets dirty really easy.
The camera seems to be a great on in lighting but it will never be as crisp as the doubleshot. Here is the first pic I snapped of my daughter
So I'm so far very satisfied with what pure Google brings to the table.
Later I'm going to look into root/su and one of the many 4.2.1 ROMs out. But I think I could stay stock unrooted and be fine.
The ui smoothness is about on par with doubleshot. That's all I got now man, I haven't played much
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
**EDIT**
OK so the phone is a pure dream to run, but the screen is no where near as crisp as the doubleshot. I'll take side by side pics tomorrow for you all.

MAN! Don't freak me out like that! I thought you were running off on us! j/k I knew you wouldn't be able to resist working on as many devices as you have access to.
I'm sure glad to hear you're getting such a hot little phone but it DOES seem like there should be some recourse for the DS not making it to you. With a bit of luck, you may end up with a new DS too!
Glad you're hanging around buddy.....I still got lots to learn from you.:good:

Getting root on this thing was one command ./fastboot oem unlock then i was able to fastboot recovery and flash su in about 2 minutes. I'm in heaven now guys, just flashed Paranoid Android v3+ its the first release candidate but its freaking smooth.
And yeah i was thinking today if the ds does come its def going to be used for you guys

I'm still skeptical on whether an enormous screen can really compensate for the lack of a real keyboard.
I have seen the note 2 in person, and my god it's huge. How anyone can carry that around as a phone is beyond me. It makes ANY other phone look mini in comparison.
Depending on how big your hands are, you can't even touch all parts of the screen with one hand. So one handed usability does drop a bit.

The bigger screen makes it so easy to type. I've had a slider phone for the last 3 years and its a breeze changing over to all touch typing. The big issue at first was the lack of physical buttons, and I'm still getting used to that

Google has already called for a press conference on Oct. 14, supposedly to announce the Nexus 5, with the phone beginning shipment the end of the month. Some leaked info points to them finally offering a 64GB model, ditching the 8GB model (so having 16, 32, and 64 GB models available), and that all models will have between 3-4 GB of RAM. Also, they may introduce a Lytro-like camera, as well as a 2700 mAh battery.

So I know there is probably some thread here referring to how much they like their note 5 bit I was a hardcore iPhone user and I'm now a note convert. I've had a couple replacements, and t-mobile sent me a new replacement in a box that I want expecting I was assuming ib was going to just receive a refurb well, since getting my replacement the screen is the best one I have had on a note so far and is build quality is amazing. I love how much Samsung has finally slimmed down their skin and Even with a few small hiccups here and there is smooth and fast. I also love the amount of updates i have received since buying this beast fix almost all of the small problems I did have with it this is the first Android phone I haven't wanted to root just downloaded package disabler pro and got rid of bloat and it's fast and battery life is pretty good and I love wireless charging and fast charging. I'm so excited to see what Samsung has for marshmallow. Who's with me!!!!!!

Time for a Note 5 love in!
After coming from a OnePlus, this is genuinely the first phone in years that I haven't felt the need to root and modify. Clearly there are some KNOX issues with doing that, but even so I'm really happy with the camera, battery, and general performance. Glad to see Marshmallow coming next month which should make things even better.

Glad you like it. After all, it was designed for people like you- the "hardcore iphone user." The very existence of this device is a slap in the face of the "hardcore" note/galaxy users. And anyone with this phone, claiming to be a hardcore Samsung, and is not a developer, is either a mindless consumer drone or a no-nipple having Samsung sheep. SHAME ON YOU Samsung for placating to the soylent green apple fan club... SHAME!!!

Please get that non sense out if here, it's not a slap in "hard core" note users faces, it is still a very powerful phone with great battery life and future proof to and extent. You think because Samsung got rid of a plastic back you can remove and a slot to expand your memory it was an intentional slap In note users faces, i just don't see the the logic. Samsung was imo was trying to get with the times, also every with and exception of a few oems have enclosed batteries and no expandable memory. I think LG is probably one of the few who didn't get rid of it and look how well the G4 did for them TERRIBLE if you read the G4 forum there are nothing going but complaints every where bad screen, bad battery life, runs hot etc. On a side note I'm in software development and thus phone would not interfere in anyway with me using it to help with my job. So shame on sour Note users who do not like progression.

I'm a "hard core user" and it's the best phone I've ever had. I'm rooted, running Tek's rom, Skyhigh kernel.
Not sure which jedi mind funked into believing the removal of features equal progress but you have been severely misinformed. And I know your influence wasn't from the darks side because Apple doesn't remove features, they only steal them from android and present it to the mindless mass as Innovation. Enjoy your sealed battery and 64 measly gb of storage. Just be sure to buy a memory stick to shove up your glass... and while your at it, go ahead and fork over that extra doe for more data bc you'll be spending more time in that lovely cloud... and don't forget to insurance because not only is that $800 device the most fragile device on the market but it also a non removable battery constantly depleting behind that nice shinny glass back... and don't get in the habit of recording in 4k because it will make short order of that 32/64 gb, much like gear vr files.

... and No, you are not a "hard core user." You, my friend, are food. I'm sure Samsung is deeply appreciative of you nourishment; helping them make it through the winter so they can try again next summer ... hopefully learning from their mistakes (ie note 5 and s6).

No one is going to take you seriously with that attitude and bigotry.
On topic: Yeah this phone is a delight. Running the MM leak right now.
Can we keep this thread on topic thank you, I didn't make it to have people come here to complain about how Samsung did them wrong personally. Oh and Bruce Lee Roy you have ever some major issues not a phone that "lost features", if a phone a a thread about how much people like or love it make you this much of an geriatric butthead you have other things you need to be seen for, maybe a therapist will do you some good. Also me and my 800$ piece of awesomeness will have a great time together. While you sulk like a 2 year old.

I had almost every top android device from late 2011 to late 2014. When iPhone got with the program and offered a 5.5" device and 128gb of internal memory I jumped ship for a bit. Just missed the camera, fast charging, and little tweaks you could do with Android so back at the note 5 I am and loving it. Truly disgusted they offer a 128gb S6 but leave the real flagship stuck at 64gb but I'll get over it.
Cant wait for the MM update and the Note6 eventually.
