So I did this yesterday and it worked.... but the phone started trying to update again today and now the terminal command only works for the first minute of power-on. After that, the phone just tries to do the update again and puts me back in twrp.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Mine was doing the same. Let your battery get down to like 25% and then enter the command. The update won't install because of low battery. Then you can go into titanium and freeze software updates. Make sure you're not plugged into a charger when you when you enter the command.

took a while to wear my battery down, but got it done and so far so good. Thank you for the tip.
I had to uninstall the software update instead of just freezing it (I don't have the paid version). I figured freezing and uninstalling would have the same result ultimately. That shouldn't cause any problems right?

I wouldn't think so but maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in. Hopefully it doesn't try to download the update again.

[ROOT] With towelroot!

Hey Guys. So Some of you may know towelroot was just released by Geohot. I went ahead and tried it on my G2 runing stock 4.4.2 and it WORKED! I ran root checker after running the apk and it said I have full root level access. You just have to download SuperSu from market afterwards. I downloaded root explorer and was prompted with the prompt to grant root and all was well!
Link to original post: http://tinyurl.com/pykqkpt
1. Go to http://towelroot.com/
2. tap the logo for apk
3. Run the apk and follow directions within
4. After phone reboots, Install SuperSu
ALL DONE!
A side note, I haven't tried using rom manager to install custom recovery as I'm not sure if we've found a button code. If someone is willing to help me with that Id be grateful. I can't afford to brick this phone as it's my only phone work work and play.
AWESOME.
Can anyone else confirm this before we try? any bugs?
And how do I go about installing TWRP recovery (or any other suitable recovery)
All is working fine, flash twrp recovery with autorec app by cloudy.
As a side note, please donate to Dev if you can. I know i did.

This was already posted in the top level apps section for lg g2
I tried to install recovery with an app called RecoverX, it claimed to do its job but I can't get the device to reboot to recovery. Tried holding the power/volume down like they say but it didnt work.

Just to clarify, you've managed to install TWRP on your G2 and boot it into recovery with autorec? Just want to make sure before I try.
Never used autorec so if you've got a guide to link to that'd be great.

too late I used a autorec and actually got the phone to TWRP. I then proceeded (stupidly) erasing everything and wiping the device because I thought I'd be able to mount it and copy the CyanogenMod file I wanted.
Boy was I wrong.. TWRP did not allow me to mount the device to USB. And for some reason I couldn't get the right driver to install in Device Manager.
At one point I decided it would be a good idea to restart, now I'm stuck at boot loop and I can't get back into TWRP. I tried holding power+down, that forces it to restart a bunch of times. I held the UP button but that puts it into FIRMWARE UPATE mode which also doesn't allow ADB
How do I get back to TWRP? how do I flash Cyanogen mod through ADB
Any ideas please?

Hold vol down + power button until screen flashes black followed by lg screen release buttons and quickly press both again and hold. It will boot you to a white screen asking you if you want to fully factory restore...press power to agree... Since twrp replaced factory recovery it will not wipe but instead take you into twrp...takes a couple tries sometimes... You need cm and gapps packages on your internal memory to flash through twrp
If you wiped everything you will have to start over by flashing the original firmware again. It happened to me too because I didn't have the ROM I was flashing on my device already. I used this guide, http://youtu.be/Lg693AYgoTo, to flash back to stock JB, then upgrade again. Just be sure the rom is you want to flash is on your phone since USB won't work. It's no guarantee though, esp. since there is that driver error.

What are you trying to accomplish connecting to computer?
Nevermind I forgot you can choose files from computer when connected...but yeah...may need full restore...there are a few step by step threads on here to do so
Same problem I encountered, so I just figured USB is a no go and had to do the firmware update and then start over with ROM and GAPPS on device next time.Hope you get it...it sucks with all the excitement and all the time us G2 owners had to wait!
Ugh. This sucks. this file is taking forever to download for some reason and I'm in no mood to start dealing with this ****.
I'm just going to take it to the T-Mobile store tomorrow.
It's rooted and they will check it with their diagnostic tool and tell you sorry. Just firmware update it to lose root first. Use this...easy...http://youtu.be/Lg693AYgoTo

[Q] Wiped with no rom to install, only have recovery now...

So yeh i wiped and thought i had a rom to install, didnt though. mistake on my part i know. can someone link or help me install the correct drivers so i can get adb working to push a rom so i can my phone up and running again?
when i boot into recovery it is only showing up as 'AOSP ON HAMMERHEAD' with the little yellow error triangle in device manager.
like i said i just need help getting a rom pushed on my phone
EDIT: im thinking about just restore stock unroot cause you can just do it from fastboot. is there anyway to get my data off before that or would you suggest just pushing a rom?
Google 15 second adb install xda. Should be everything you need. Then push a rom onto your device.

Restart both the devices and try again. If that doesn't work again then
download the latest google drivers and try with them.
edit-http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
But since its working for you when android is booted I see no reason for it not working in recovery mode. obv it needs to be installed correctly. Btw what recovery r u using?

Hi, anyone here who can build a custom recovery (maybeTWRP)

Hi all, did anyone build a recovery? I would do it but I haven't got a computer that runs Linux and I am not firm with it at all.
Edit: I couldn`t use any method that I found to create a custom recovery, is there anyone with more success?
Also I could not use SP-Flash tool to make a backup, did anyone succeed and how?
Thanks

Well, a month has passed, and I've forgotten everything I knew about this device, but I'll give it a shot when I have a chance. Stay tuned.
EDIT: It seems a month ago I built a test recovery for this device, but was waiting for a response before posting it. So @patrixs94 I'm attaching it here. Give it a try and let me know if it boots, and if so, I'll need a recovery log from it.
Ok, I will test it. Have one question - is it safe? In case of bootloop occurs, do you have any idea how to exit it? Can't find any RUU in web - that was the way I ever exit it, and by this way I was restoring official software. Is there any another way?

Ok, I will test it. Have one question - is it safe? In case of bootloop occurs, do you have any idea how to exit it? Can't find any RUU in web - that was the way I ever exit it, and by this way I was restoring official software. Is there any another way?

Flashing recovery shouldn't bootloop your device. Recovery is an entirely separate partition. You can try using "fastboot boot recovery.img" to see if that works, as that won't change anything on the device, but not all devices support it.
Honestly though, if you're not comfortable enough to test this, then there's no reason for me to work on this. Like I said, I know next to nothing about this device, so I need someone that can help me debug and provide logs, etc. Otherwise this exercise is futile.

Hi,
thank you, it´s great you are working on TWRP for this phone! I have tried to use it. After download it says booting on notebook and Start downloading on phone:
C:\fastboot\ fastboot boot recovery.img
downloading `boot.img`......
OKAY (1.453s)
booting...
After hard restart the phone works again.
Does it helps you?

All that tells me is that your device doesn't support fastboot boot. So you'll need to flash it to test whether it works or not.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Thx. Flashed, after booting to recovery mode there is start screen, but I am not able to swipe to unlock it. Where can I find the log? Is it something like db.fatal.dbg?

/tmp/recovery.log
Is adb working? If so, you can adb pull the above file. Then I can at least see how much is working (besides touch being broken).
Yes, ADB works, but the file doesn´t exist (with the way /tmp/recovery.log). Only general bugreport, attached.

The recovery log has to exist while in TWRP.
ADB doesn´t run while TWRP, screen attached.

That error is on the computer side, not on the device. Fix your adb on your computer and then try adb in TWRP again.
Ok, thx. I am not expirienced user of it, but try to solve it Where are all the others? Hey!!

Your device is corrupt. It can’t be trusted and may not work properly.

First I tried restoring a backup using TWRP and it didn't work. Then, I tried flashing Android P using TWRP twice to both slots and I booted the device and now see this "Your device is corrupt. It can’t be trusted and may not work properly." likethis
I ran "flash-all-partitions.bat" and "flash-all-partitions-fastboot.bat" files from the android P fastboot zip file from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-6-t3796665 and android p starts and runs successfully but I still see the not trusted error message at start of the device. How can I get rid of it? I even tried to wipe the phone from within oos android P.
Nevermind. I searched more and found someone who said I have to run MSMD tool.
fixed it by using this thread

Found this is another thread, Hope it helps someone. It helped me.
Install Material Terminal from Play Store
Just type in terminal:
su
reboot "dm-verity enforcing"
Hit enter
Phone will reboot and no more corrupt issue in red.

Has anyone tried this? Hitting power twice allows me to boot when I see this message but I'm suck of seeing it. I want a solution that doesn't delete data.
Do you have twrp? try flashing another kernel, smurf or something, i remember it happened to me a year ago, and it got fixed after i flashed another kernel

I had already tried by clean flash. But the issue remained. Finally I found solution in other section, which I posted here.
