[Q] uanble to boot

I have running a desire s with runndroid by the pvteam. I flashed it about a week ago.
This morning I found my phone locked up, It would not become active. I pulled the battery and attempted to reboot. it now just sits on the initial flash screen.
after a lot of mucking about in EXT4 recovery, I feel my problem is that hte system not mounting /data /system and /cache... it just won mount because when I attempt to mount in the recovery I just get an error.. in abd shell.... I get:
# mount -a
mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p27 on /cache failed: Invalid argument
mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p26 on /data failed: Invalid argument
mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p25 on /system failed: Invalid argument
I have formatted, I have repartitioned and I have reflashed my room. It wont boot, these wont mount.
any ideas?
ah, I just had a brain wave...
#dmesg in the shell.... . I have lots of IO errors:
<3>[ 1660.224365] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 1384779

Unfortunately it looks like your right, I'm just wondering why you still can access recovery, to be sure pls make a reboot to recovery and straight afterwards execute dmesg | grep mmc0.
You can try to replace your bootloader and check if it works, even take a look at the index, at the bottom is a thread named read this before going to replace emmc chip.
And pls tell what bootloader you're using.

Than you internal memory (eMMC) is corrupted i.e. your chip is "fried". This is a hardware issue (reference here) and the chip has to be replaced. Sorry, no other solutions available.
thanks for your help!
Sry, missed it at the op, but this will always stay a riddle to me.
How the hell is it possible to access a recovery located on mmc0 without a working mmc0, anyways.
There is a thread introducing a replacement emmc confirmed working out of the box, if you like to repair it yourself and save a lot of money

But found something additional, maybe you're willing to try because you got nothing to lose^^
The only thing a bit tricky could be to find the right backup location of the superblock.
How to restore superblock http://linuxpoison.blogspot.com/2007/10/how-to-recover-damaged-superblock.html?m=1
Edit: Here is how to find the backup locations of the superblock http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/recover-bad-superblock-from-corrupted-partition/

Stuck on CWM 6.0.1.3 recovery screen

Hi,
My TF700 is stuck on CWM 6.0.1.3 (non touch) recovery screen, it always goes there.
I was now able to use adb command (it shows serial no 0123456789ABCDE is it normal?).
Fastboot does not work
Can i do something to recover my TF700?
Thanks for your help.

What bootloader version do you have? (4.1.1 or 4.2.1)? can you boot into the OS?

I think it is 4.2.1. I only can get to the CWM recovery (directly).

The volume + and - do not work. I'm only able to select option reboot system now.
Is there something that i can do from adb? It is seems to be the only way i can communicate with the tablet.

I see, OK let do this:
1) Download full Asus firmware and unzip all the way until you see the "blob" file
2) Copy the blob file to your Micro sdcard using your PC then then insert the card back into your tablet
3) On your PC, execute the following adb commands:
adb shell hit enter(you are going to see bunch of weird characters, this's normal)
dd if=/Removable/MicroSD/blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 hit enter and wait for around 10-20min.
Update process will start and table will reboot once done. Remember you will have stock rom and recovery back once done.

Thanks for your reply
I got an error "/Removable/MicroSD/blob no such file or directory".
I'm trying now the abd push blob /sdcard/blob and then i'll do the rest on the command line afterwards.
Do you think it will work?
[Update] Didn't work
When the tablet is connected to the pc the screen is always showing "CWM 6.0.1.3", does that have any influence?
Thanks
I saw that i'm also able to use nvflash and wheelie.
The only command i cannot use is fastboot
Can somebody please help me?

If you post error messages instead of "doesn't work", maybe.
You said you cannot use fastboot - why?
You said you are able to use nvflash and wheelie, does that mean you also have the required files like "blob.bin", "bricksafe.img" etc.?

Basically because i don't have error messages.
I cannot use the fastboot because the tablet is stuck on the screen of the CWM i cannot got out. Either it is on recovery mode or on APX... When i use fastboot command cmd cannot find devices.
Regarding nvflash and wheelie is means that i am able to communicate with the tablet. I have one ebtblob.bin, i tried but i got one error ]Failed to read RCMVERS from blob file.
Can you give me a hint?
Thanks

So you don't have a blob for your device, which means you can't use nvflash.
Since you can communicate with the recovery via adb, please post the output of
Code:
adb shell ls -l /dev/block/mmc*
to see if your recovery can access the internal storage.

It goes directly to CWM 6.0.1.3 (non touch version) where i cannot do anything because volume up and down do not work.

That's very bad - it should show at least mmcblk0p1 to mmcblk0p8. That means you can't use the recovery to modify anything on your internal storage.
How did you get into this situation? "Wipe data" in the bootloader menu?

No, that requires a running Android system, or at least a recovery that can access your internal storage.
To get more info about your problem, reboot your tablet and run the following command on your computer:
Code:
adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt
and post the resulting file.
Also try this:
Code:
adb shell hexdump -C -s 0x380000 -n 8 /dev/block/mmcblk0
and tell me if it outputs "ANDROID!" (after some hexadecimal numbers).

Also try this:
Code:
adb shell hexdump -C -s 0x380000 -n 8 /dev/block/mmcblk0
and tell me if it outputs "ANDROID!" (after some hexadecimal numbers).

No, it only outputs:

Could someone test cm-10.1 ?

If I upload cm-10.1 would someone test it?

Thanks about 6 hours no rest trying to figure out which blobs matter , constantly comparing nvidia tablets, and finally getting it to build.
I'm running a fresh build now I already built it like 5 times already
This only makes me want this device more:laugh:
Here is my source
device - https://github.com/Project-Shield/android_device_nvidia_roth
vendor- https://github.com/Project-Shield/proprietarty_vendor_nvidia_roth
kernel- https://github.com/Project-Shield/android_kernel_nvidia_roth
I got the kernel from another source you can see where I forked it.
The libs I weren't to sure on but I started from the nexus 7 list and added more
I will put up a guide soon I did exclude nvidia/device/common and drivers/sensors from my github im going to integrate it into one tree instead of separate folders.
@chevyowner Here it is I really hope it boots http://goo.im/devs/Unjust/Roth/cm-10.1-20130809-UNOFFICIAL-roth.zip
Downloading now, I hope my internet does not decide it hates me again while downloading.

Weird it used device specific partitions in cwm after it fails go to advanced and then show log
That did not help me so I looked and agrabren called shield thor not roth after changing roth to thor in the updater script it flashed. It won't boot tho.
I can't get logcat working.

Does it at least boot or is a black screen by boot I mean at least show the bootanimation ?

Probalby OTA Brick

Hey,
I've got a rooted Nexus 5 with android 4.4.3 on it.
on the past monthes it sggested me to OTA update but i knew that because of the root I'm not allowed to do it and ignored.
Yesterday, when I took my nexus out of my pocket it was stuck on boot screen (Google with open lock sign).
After some resaerch I realised that it might possible that it was open in my pocket and accidently OTA updta.
Now my situation is:
* Stuck on boot screen
* Can get to recovery but it says that I've encrypted my system.
* When charging - no charging screen
* Tried to manual flash rom/recovery/bootloade/baseband with fastboot and got error (flash write error)
* When opening shell I can clearly distinguish that some mounts are missing (like system...)
* Unable to factory reset / wipe anything.
Please if you got a clue how can I solve it write it down
Updates (For future googlers) :
* Tried to unplug the battery and plug it back but it didn't help...
Thanks alot,
Yaniv.
This situation can definitely occur with a bad flash / OTA. Unfortunately, all you can do is go into TWRP and do a full factory reset and wipe everything. Then boot into the bootloader and run flash-all in the factory image.
I forgot to mention that I'm unable to factory reset/wipe anything (I get the unable to mount problem)
I think that maybe my mass storage chip has fried
Your emmc is dead... Get a replacement.
Yes it seems like my emmc is the problem.
anyway, Jtag could be a good solution here?
and if not, someone knows where I could find 32GB emmc chip? I searched in ebay and couldn't find...

you dont find it.
RMA it or buy a new one.
New Information
I suspect that this is not the case of fried emmc:
When I am using adb shell and entering the command:
dmesg | grep mmc
I am getting this output:

Looks like all your partitions are erroring. Needs replacing
Edit... Well you certainly at least have an issue with /persist. There's a guide to fix that in my signature.
Not sure that will be enough though

Do not use recovery or fastboot then, flash stock rom with lg's bootloader. (Hold volume up + plug in usb)

What do you mean by "flash stock rom with lg's bootloader"?
Is it an app for computer?.. If you could give somemore explanation / link for a thread in subject it would be great.

Is it possible to do the same solution to the system partition?
("e2fsck /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system")

Maybe he means with lg flashtool and download mode. Again, link in my signature. However you should try and fix persist first as per my post.

He means flash stock factory image, if that doesn't work or save you then RMA is the key
Well, RMA is not option for me...

Building my own CWM recovery...but need help.

Hello.
could you please help me to flash my device ?
it’s a RK30** based device (maybe a RK3066).
I have yet tested a lot of possibility….. but now way to flash a custom recovery ;-(
I would like install TWRP or CWM
I tested :
Arctools.apk (don’t work) / room manager (don’t work) / a batch tool adb installer (don’t work) / fastboot in bootloader mode (don’t work_no device detected) / directly flash some update.zip from the original recovery (don’t work).
My device is rooted buit nothing work for me.
I tried also to flash diferent recovery.img from RKFLASHKIT (ubuntu inside ).
so…. i’m a little bit lost.
For security I dumped these originals partitions :
misc.img
recovery.img
boot.img
kernel.img
I can also provide a complete dmesg in a second post.
So, I hope you will be able to help me to find a good version of recovery and the good way to flash it !
I thank you in advance !

don’t work again ;-( pipo smart S1 cwm unpacked and repacked with mkbootimg (my recovery.img-kernel.gz + recovery.img-ramdisk.cpio.gz) ….
realy lost
ok ….
progress ... progress
so my tab is an ” KidsPad 3 “
this cwm work like it is : http://www.filefactory.com/file/605l7c1mh11n/n/Pipo_S1_CWM_by_Danyrolux_rar
but no way to do a nandroid backup “it look like don’t find the good partition”.
if I want to repack it with my original recovery.img, I have to keep the original kernel (from original recovery.img) and the ramdisk from this cwm ..? right ?
the original recovery.img unpack :
[email protected]:/media/samuel/1A86-DFE7/mytools$ sudo perl unpack-bootimg.pl recovery.img
[sudo] password for samuel:
kernel written to recovery.img-kernel.gz
ramdisk written to recovery.img-ramdisk.cpio.gz
cpio: ../init: impossible de créer un lien symbolique vers “sbin/ueventd”: Opération non permise
gzip: ../recovery.img-ramdisk.cpio.gz: decompression OK, trailing garbage ignored

repacked the original recovery + the cwm ramdisk .
Have you checked with these guys: http://androtab.info/clockworkmod/rockchip/rk3066/
or here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102679 ?
They work for rokchip cwm too.
helo, thank you for your answer !

But it don't work with my device.
moreover I don't want pollute there topic with two page of my dmesg :
I would like to build it myself to understand the good way ..
not only ask "can you do it for me ? my device is ...).
Have you any idea about what I doind rong ?

That was the point. I asked you about those guys because they must have a proper device tree to build and you can use that as template to create one for your device. Then you can build any recovery you want. I'm not familiar with rockchip and I can't tell you much, but they probably can... if they want of course.
Besides that I played a little with your files and I repacked that working cwm with your kernel: http://d-h.st/VBK
I don't know if it works, but if it does use it.
Cheers!

If after flashing recovery it stay unchanged, then the problem is the flashing process. Maybe there is a security or checksum check somewhere and if it doesn't meet requirements it doesn't actually flash the recovery...
I don't know what else to say.

yes ...
the PIPO smart S1 CWM flash and start correctly but no way to do a nandroid backup.(partition problem)
Maybe I have to pick up a file in this recovery to repack it in my own recovery.
but witch ?
