Battery Pull? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
Quick questions. Going to buy me a Nexus 5 and upgrade from my Galaxy Nexus. Just wondering, when my GN freezes up now, I can just pull the battery. How do you unfreeze a Nexus 5?

Hold down power button for 10 seconds

I will say this...I came from a Galaxy Nexus and once I switched to the Nexus 5 I realized what a POS the Galaxy Nexus was.
I've had the Nexus 5 for 3 months and have never had it freeze ever. Not once. You will be quite pleased once you get your Nexus 5!

Simple as that. Awesome. That work everytime?

It is not a removable back (battery) .. at least without tools and time. Not something you are going to do for a reset.
Having said that, I have never had my Nexus 5 hang yet.

In theory it should work every single time but I honestly have never had this phone freeze on me so I don't know. With the Nexus 5 freeze ups seem to be a thing of the past and I've owned every Nexus and this one is hands down the smoothest I've ever owned!

While building and debugging I have had many freezes, not related to performance.
Power button has gotten me out every time

Moto X vs N5

So I have a few days left to return my moto x and have some questions for you guys. How is battery? I've seen it take hits from different sites. I average about 3-31/2 hrs screen on time with my X. How is the camera? Any input is helpful. Thanks.

I love my nexus 5 ! I would not trade any phone even for the new s5 that's going to come out. The development is amazing and the devs are very knowledgeable. As for the battery I get about 3-4 hour screen time. I usually take it out it the charger around 7am and it lasts me till 10 pm with medium to heavy use. The camera is also good I believe there was a comparison between the Nexus 5 and the Samsung S4http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-6AszlQIIs. I have never owned a moto x so I really can't tell you if the camera is better.

Man, there are a ton of these Moto X vs. N5 threads, please search before posting next time. But if you want my opinion, I have both and I prefer the Moto X. I do love the N5, I just like the Moto X a little better. Check my posts in this thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642626
I also have both, haven't touched my X since getting my N5. To each his own

I HAD both. Stuck with the clear winner, the Nexus 5 (for my usage)
Edit: would like to add that the X is a great device. I still tinker with one weekly (sister loves it!)

I want moto x but nexus 5 is better.

I have both in possession. Which is better?
The only thing that makes the X better is ergonomic design, the customization, always listening feature, Active display and the screen is better in most ways(IMO).
The nexus 5 wins in all the other departments, even the battery. If you do get an NX5 unlock the bootloader as soon as it's out of the box. Huge pay off

I meant to post this here in this thread
I don't have this phone yet, but I will be getting it in the mail Monday. I am coming from a Moto X, which is a great device. I love the phone overall. But two gripes I have is the development for the phone and the fact that it's "wannabe stock"
I want the N5 because of the ROM support. Its outstanding. I'm used to the Note 2, S4, HTC One, and when you have Roms on there, there's not a major difference. The AOSP Roms are always buggy. With the N5, your going to have a phone that was made to he tinkered with. Most apps that are made to replace something (lockscreens, launchers, etc) were made for fitting a stock android (N5) experience.
I am excited about this phone because its been a while since I've rooted a phone. Its an addiction that has been cured with VZWs S4 and HTC One, but The relapse is far more exciting then sticking with stuff almost out of the box

I used to flash a lot on my previous devices, but this phone is so awesome on stock rooted with Xposed, I haven't yet felt like trying any other roms.

Still worth it?

Hi folks I am considering buying a nexus 5. Currently have a moto X and I'm happy with it. However I missed the stock Android and Nexus experience. They're all kinds of pros and cons with this phone as you all know. I guess after all this time, do you think the phone is still worth purchasing? Main reason being is the next Nexus is a matter of months away. What would you owners say? Thanks.

battery isnt bad. but it all depends what your signal quality will be like, how you set it up, what apps youbuse, and how you use your device. i personally see about 4.5-5.5 hours screen in time.
i just used my tmobile Jump upgrade to go from an LG G2 to the Nexus 5, best decision ive made in awhile

As Midnight_Rider Put It... In A Matter Of 6 Months... I Just Used My Jump Upgrade and Went From A HTC One M7 > Note 3 > iPhone 5s Gold (Worst Decision I Ever Made In The Handset Division... The IPad Is Cool But Not The Phone) and Now I Have The Nexus 5...
As Stated Before... Best Decision I Ever Made In The Mobile World In A While. I've Had the Nexus One & the Galaxy Nexus... Minus the Nexus S As I Wasn't On Sucky Sprint But Now That I Have the Nexus 5... I Can Clearly Admit That I'm Thrilled To Be Back To Pure Google, Unlocked, Unrestricted and On the Un-Carrier and the Nexus World.
I Said the Same Thing... As the Next Nexus Is Due By December and The G3 Is Right Around the Corner But Seriously... Its A No Brainer... I Wish the Best To You Young Padawon On Your Choices... Choose Wisely lol ?

[Q] Buy Nexus 5 or wait for 6?

I am planning to buy a new android phone and shortlisted Nexus 5 and Xperia ZR. I think Nexus 5 would be a better choice because of its large development support but question in my mind is "Is it worth waiting for Nexus 6?". There is no fixed date for Nexus 6 but hopefully it will be announced in Q4 of this year. Please suggest, should i buy nexus 5 or wait for nexus 6? Is it worth waiting for?
From my research cons of nexus 5 that i don't want to get with are: Battery life and Camera. And both of these might get upgraded in Nexus 6.
Thanks in advance.

Google confirmed that the nexus program isn't going anywhere. There probably will be a successor to the nexus 5,it would only make sense since android L supports 64 bit, maybe even put more than 3gb. Who knows, it's all speculation

What he said. If you want the newest device, wait a month for it to be released. If you want the Nexus 5, wait a month for the price to go down. It'd be silly to buy last year's model at full price today when you can get it a month from now at a substantially reduced price.
All in all, still a very good phone. But will be a better deal after the N6 release and the "expected" price drop.

No one can guarantee there will be a price drop. And if there was as with the N4, didn't the stock dry up within a couple days? Not exactly something to set your schedule for IMO.

Note 4 to Nexus 5 to Nexus 6

Okay so I got the note 4 a couple of days ago but I seriously can't take the freaking lag nothing runs smooth on this phone my nexus 4 that I'm coming from is waaaay faster at everything, luckily I'm still within my two weeks and I was thinking of trading in my note for a nexus 5 and then once the nexus 6 comes out switching over that. Why even get the Nexus 5 if you are going to switch to the Nexus 6 so soon? That makes no sense. One or the other.
Because I have no other phone and I don't want to keep this phone longer the reason I would switch is because the n5 is cheap and would be a good replacement for a month
How are you planning on trading devices on Craigslist?

No way note 4 laggs. Played with one for a bit. No way.
I had a Note 3 and it had almost no lag, so I highly doubt the Note 4 lags much if at all. Doing all this phone trading will leave you out of pocket, just settle on one phone and keep it.
