[MOD] Enable some hidden Multiwindow features. - Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps

Reading Note 3 forums, i've found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50277642
OP discovered some hidden Multiwindow features and created APK which from one side enables these features, and from other side obfuscates it to hide the changes.
I've made additional exploration and found these features on my SHV-E330S(GT-I9506), but more permissions are missed. After adding more permissions i've successfully enabled all these fancy features.
Probably other devices like I9505 and I9500 have (but disabled) these features.
So, what you can expect from this mod:
Floating windows
up to 4 windows displayed side-by-side (instead of 2 max in original version)
Resizable borders for floating windows.
Icons of collapsed windows (displayed on top of any application)
You need to unzip attached file into /system/etc/permissions and then reboot.
It may or may not work for specific device. It also may depend on Android version. People in Note 3 thread report it as not working in KK ROMs, but remember they deal with APK which may work not correctly on KK. Also my zip contains more missed permissions and it may help to enable it on KK.
This works on:
I9506 ROMS: ML5, NA2
I9500 ROMS: MJ8
Let me know on which device and which ROM it works or not.
P.S.: I didn't move to KK yet.
Here is the video of this mod (thanks @tuckersmission)

Does Floating Windows work with this mod on KitKat Rom (touchwiz based)?

Still not working but...

I have tried this on my i9506 (SHV-E330S) on kitkat.
But unfortunately, still not working. (The quad view does works but, floating windows are not working)
I heard Note3's floating option is available by Penwindow Launcher app in playstore.

Not now, but maybe It can be possible.
To get floating window from now, use XHaloFloatingWindows on Xposed Framework Modules or Try below links to get pen window (simillar feature with floating windows)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542988

I didn't migrate to KitKat yet because i'm waiting for kernel source code. I will look into possibility to enable it without Xposed hacks when i will install KitKat.
Actually, floating windows are more gimmick than real useful function. Application inside such window has truncated view.

For now to get floating window I use floating app mod + Gmd Air command and it work well.

is it working on i9505 too?
EDIT:
yes, it is! i tested it on my i9505 with carHD rom 15.1
there are some screenshots.

Many Thanks to YOU! Works like a Charm.

Hello

Any modification in system folder requires root.
Or if you know how to inject files into system.img.ext4 firmware part, then you can pre-inject the files and then flash through Odin. In this case root isn't required.

I have to say, I think this mod is great. I cant believe its not more popular :-/
I find myself using the Multiwindow launcher more than my App tray now. I agree for most apps the 'floating windows' are not very practical, however, I do seem to find myself using it a lot.

Hi everyone.
Is there any way to have this in my I9506 4.2.2 Stock rom?
I have tried this but nothing happens. :crying:
Thanks

[ FAQs ]
====================================================
Q1 : How to increase the abnormal limitness of volume of earpieces?
A :
http://koganefusube.blog.me/70167096326
SGS4 in South Korea has Yamaha's sound codec(YMU831) and the parameters of all of the volumes can adjustable in rom.
/system/etc/ysound.xml does, and I found that the stock values of them limited in 81.
I just changed from 81 to 100 and tested on my sgs4.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q2 : What recovery can I use?
A :
You can use recoveries for i9500(not 9505) to E300S, E300K(I can't sure for E300L but if you know clearly plz post that)
Now I'm using Chenglu's touch CWM 6.0.2.3 and flashing update.zip and making/restoring CWM backups are working fine.
Chenglu's recovery => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267820
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q3 : How to set the wallpaper in the full resolution without the notification bar?
A :
http://koganefusube.blog.me/70167678454
A way to solve this is editing stock sammy wallpaper application.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q4 : How to root?
A :
1. Change your recovery be CWMed.
Like uppon FAQ, I suggest you Chenglu's CWM Recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267820
2. Download SuperSU v1.32
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
3. Reboot into recovery mode(VolUP + Power + Home button for few seconds)
4. Flash SuperSU v1.32 you downloaded.
5. Reboot your phone.
6. Enjoy
In 20130519, phyb the developer in matcl announced his work. Thx to him if you want and helped by for your geeky smartphone life
※ You'll meet an error if you disabled and re-enabled su via SuperSU. If you do that, a way to reroot as flawless is just rebooting your sgs4. Then, SuperSU will work fine.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q5 : What EQ or audio effect can I use? Stock MusicFX is boring and useless
A :
I suggest you 'ViPER4Android' if you got root your SGS4.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
I tested and applied flawless on my SHV-E300S.
It's funtionality is awesome and better than MusicFX or any EQ apps which doesn't require root permissions.
※ Note : Be sure CWM backup first for something unpredicatable situations, and some of functions in this mod consumes battery and system resources much than before you applied.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q6 : I can't access the hidden modes from inputting 319712358 via dial pad to change the settings about RIL
A :
E300S can access skt hidden mode with 'skt hidden mode +'. You can search it on Google Play.
I don't know about other ones(sorry) but if you know about the another way like this post the reply anytime
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q7 : I want to hide the suggested application list when I plug my earbirds at my sgs4. How can I?
A :
Unfortunately, SGS4 doens't have the setting UI about PageBuddy unlike previous sammy android smartphones
So if you want to do that, debloat all of the apps about PageBuddy.
(Or maybe just disable PageBuddyNotiSvc in Settings? I can't sure about this... if someone try and this is the way what I meant, post the reply anytime )
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q8 : My sgs4 mobile data connection looks slow even if I connected in LTE. What should I do to be better?
A :
Disable fast dormacy and disable geltle fair sleeper.
You can use gokhanmoral's FastDormacy toggle in SGS4 to disable fasl dormacy
and you can disable gentle fair sleeper with inputting a line in terminal.
( echo "NO_GENTLE_FAIR_SLEEPERS" > /d/sched_features )
You can apply this code as init.d script or any apps doing like this
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q9 : I want to change the color of notification bar and panel. What should I do?
A :
Install Xposed Framework and Nottach Xposed.
Xposed Framework : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Nottach Xposed : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2285074
Note : Nottach Xposed is not for SGS4 in Korea as official so if you meet any bugs in use, that's not a bug. Just not fit for.
Note : Don't change the battery icon. If you do that, Nottach Xposed will be applied as abnormal.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q10 : Default background of Holo UI looks not fit for XXHDPI(FHD). Can I change it?
A :
Install Xposed Framework and DitheredHoloBackground
and use the app what I uploaded in this thread.
DitheredHoloBackground : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173001
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q11 : How to remove the carrier logo on the status bar with editing SystemUI.apk?
A :
1) Open the SystemUI.apk with Alzip
2) Go to res\drawble-xxhdpi and change tw_stat_notify_operator_logo.png into a picture filled blank with overwriting that file.
I attached an image file to change.
Note : If you just delete this image file in SystemUI.apk you want to edit and reboot after paste this, you'll be under endless reboot.
3) Paste the SystemUI.apk into your phone and reboot
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q12 : Is there a way to make a CWM backup and restore it as easy?
A :
You can use Online Nandroid Backup and Nandroid Manager,
You can make a CWM backup without rebooting into recovery via Online Nandroid Backup.
(Note : If you want to use this flawless, install busybox stericson's one)
You can restore a cwm backup and flashing 'update.zip's as you want as possible without rebooting into recoveryt via Nandroid Manager.

Can someone please verify the exact steps on how to root SHV-E300s? I mean, do I need to install custom firmwares using Odin first before rooting, etc.
It's not only for me, but for others who have this device and want to root. And n00bs like me.
Hello marbulas,
Thank you for starting our S4 info and discussion thread.

Root?
Can you please post the rooted kernel? I can read Korean or Chinese and google translate can't translate the page for me. Also, it is asking for business information and things like that. It would be awesome if you could post it though. Thank you.
Here are ME6 rooted kernels which I repacked as supercurio's method.
Choose kernel to be matched with your carrier and flash it via Odin.

For now with latest sammy build, yes. Latest way to root is flashing kernel fixed for. All of latest sgs4s are same on this problem.
Fortunately, a way to root appeared. You'd check the main post

Thanks for the links. I am going to be trying this in a few. Keep up the great work and please don't forget our great phone. But which one of the files that were posted do I flash for root??
EDIT: Nevermind. I saw the differences between the files. I have to get some sleep or something. LOL.

One thing that I would do to help make this thread complete is to add the stock non rooted kernels to the OP. That way if someone messes up they can fix their phone without any problems.
I haven't updated to the ME6 firmware yet. I still have the stock firmware (out of the box) MDK. Do I have to update/flash the kernel posted here to root?

If you have stock sammy rom, you don't have to look for the stock kernel.
Just make a copy the stock rom and open the tar package with data compressing softwares(alzip?) and delete files except boot.img in the tar package. Then, that's the stock kernel to turn back.

AllShareCast/ScreenMirror fix for custom ROMs (I9500, I9505, I9506, E330, N9005)

This fix is for those who like to use AllShareCast/ScreenMirrorwhile on custom ROM (i.e. custom flag is set).
Disclamer: You apply the fix at your own risk. I'm not responsible for any software or hardware damage it can lead. The only thing i can assure is that i've tested fix on my I9500 and I9506 devices and they work fine.
Disclamer 2: I don't provide any technical support for my fixes through PM. So, please don't write PM about porting it to other ROM versions or other devices. I share what i'm doing for myself and have no intention to port it to devices i don't have.
This fix is not really fixes the problem, but turns off HDCP protection. So, the video signal will go to HDMI in clear(unprotected) form. As a side effect, this fix also will be useful for those, who has non-HDCP TV and thus cannot use Screen Mirror function.
I've made versions for 3 different SoCs, thus it should be compatible with almost full range of Samsung top devices:
Exynos 5410 for GT-I9500 Android 4.3 ROM MJ8
Snapdragon 600 for GT-I9505 Android 4.3 ROM MK8
Snapdragon 800 for GT-I9506(SHV-E330S/K/T) Android 4.3 ML5, SM-N9005 (and other SD800 versions of Note 3)
To install the fix, your device should be rooted!
You need to use file explorer which is able to write to /system partition. I recommend to use Root Explorer.
1) Open /system partition with write access ("mount R/W" button in Root Explorer)
2) Unpack following archive to specified folder:
for Android v4.3:
for Exynos 5410: unpack hdcpoff_5410.zip to /system/lib
for Snapdragon 600: unpack hdcpoff_sd600.zip to /system/lib
for Snapdragon 800: unpack hdcpoff_sd800.zip to /system/vendor/lib
for Android v4.4.2:
for Exynos 5410: unpack hdcpoff_5410_4.4.2.zip to /system/lib
for Snapdragon 600: unpack hdcpoff_sd600_4.4.2.zip to /system/lib
for Snapdragon 800: unpack hdcpoff_sd800_4.4.2.zip to /system/lib (not really required. HDCP should work fine on custom ROMS 4.4.2)
3) reboot your device.
That's all!
I didn't test my fix neither on I9505 nor N9005, but in theory it should work.
Update (30/Aug/2014):
I've added Android 4.4.2 HDCP OFF version for I9500 (I9500XXUGNG3), for I9505 (I9505XXUGNG8). It should work on any 4.4.2 ROM.
About Snapdragon 800 version (i9506, E330S, Note 3 Qualcomm version): it's funny, but my E330S (with old 4.2.2 bootloader and I9506 4.4.2 system) works without any fix. It uses HDCP although my kernel and system are custom with a lot of bloatware (including KNOX) removed. It works with both Samsung AllShareCast and Netgear PTV3000.
I've uploaded patched lib for SD800 (I9506XXUCNG3) for any case (unpack to /system/lib).
Update 2:
added N9005 4.4.2 version. You can try it on other N900x models as well (SD800 only!).
For Galaxy S5 (SM-G900 not sure Exynos or Qualcomm) look here (not tested by me)
For generic Exynos solution look here (not tested by me)
P.S.: If you are skilled enough, then you can port this fix to other version of ROM. Quick hint: Disassemble my fix and original file in IDA Pro, then compare listing to find the difference. And then, using some keywords near modified part, you can locate required places in the new version.
Generally, the versions I provide should work in any ROM within the same Android version.
Thank you

And here's a rough guide on how to get it done: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48418925
The original libs that match the patched libs from the OP are attached to this post for comparison and porting purposes
Will update when I track down the snapdragon 600 lib
EDIT: Snapdragon 600 added

Some ppl first throw *hit to me simply because they didn't get what they wanted and then come here to ask something. I have no feeling to answer such blacklisted person. If their insulting posts have been deleted, it doesn't change my attitude to them.
I've already found and posted the stock libs for myself and others. Thanks for extending the patch to snapdragon devices, I'll be porting it to other devices soon.
Thank you very very very much

This is because you have flashed some other mods into /system. Flash stock using Odin or restore a backup, then flash again. You can also dig into that /system/app and delete unused crap to save space, then reflash the mod. This happened because you don't have enough free ROM space, so the CWM installer did not copy the files (in your case, SecContacts.apk, SecTeleService.apk, and InCallUI.apk). For starters, you can remove S Voice and AllShare.

But after first boot all of my telephony app went missing.. Everything back to normal bcoz i flash stock rom..
UPDATE : i tried everything, reflash stock ROM - rerooting via CWM from your suggestion - reflash zip addon.. aaaaand it's gone..
NB : if i may add, could you please add dial app with dual sim support, in the screenshots the dial app seems only support single sim. thanks.

Your problem happened with me when I flashed this mod to a friend's Grand 2. This is because there's much junk in the ZIP. I fixed that, in addition to adding Note 3 Air Command. The update will be released tomorrow in the main post.
About the dialer, it does support Dual SIM, but I had only one SIM in the device when I took the snapshots.
And thanks for your effort. I'll notify you in PM when I upload the updated ZIP.
is it really able to isntall it to stock rom G8
i am using stock rom xse g8 4.2.2 (yes it rooted)
can i install it on my phone ?

I'm going to investigate this issue. I (and you) may have to wait till old Sam makes a new phone with the S5 UI (dialer+contacts) AND Dual SIM.
About separating the Note 3 features, that's a really god idea!
And, oui, monsieur, what do you mean by saying "S5 toggles"? Well, I got them, even in the old mod. Except if you mean something else.
P.S. Can't you keep changing SIMs from the widget or the Notification Panel as a temporary fix?

Thanks buddy just wanted to say that I loved your roms from the S4 and I know you don't have the option for unlocked boot loader with this guy but I've been searching for this dark MMS forever and haven't found one that actually works with the Verizon version. Working on one right now. So far its not going so well more things are kernel dependent than the S4. But I'll figure it out hopefully. It takes longer testing with safestrap when you screw up flashing roms that arent meant to be used its odin time so it takes longer when you have to start from scratch. I am uploading a NE9 rom right now thats debloated and has a few more mods added it should be ready soon.
its not easy to get a g900f rom to run on g900v without breaking certain things.. i havent managed it at all lol

Also just a request/suggestion but can you write a script to get rid of all the Verizon bloat (cloud, isis, tones, etc.) As well as all the Amazon Stuff too. Then this Rom would be top notch! More than it already is

[APP][5.0.2][IR]LG QuickRemote for AOSP [1-13-15]

This zip installs the QuickRemote app and enables the IR blaster to work on AOSP Lollipop ROMs for the LG G3 (and G2). Not every device or rom has been tested, so flash at your own risk.
Credits go to @sefnap for the original G2 port, @RieGo for the original scripts, and @zzeneg for updating to the G3 versions.
WORKAROUND DETAILS:
The default SELinux policy for android was changed to enforcing mode in Lollipop to increase security. This restricts the functionality of some apps, so for QuickRemote to work we have to change the SELinux policy back to permissive mode until we have a better solution.
This zip installs an init.d script which runs at boot and sets the SELinux policy, as well as other permissions. It will also create the file /sdcard/QRemote.log, which records the SELinux policy at startup.
INSTRUCTIONS:
--Make a backup (or at least download the uninstall)
--Install the latest SuperSU (highly recommended)
--Wipe dalvik/cache (just in case)
--Flash zip in recovery (TWRP or PhilZ)
--Reboot--
--It may take a moment for device manufacturers to load, so be patient.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
First, make sure init.d is enabled:
-Check for /sdcard/QRemote.log. If the file isn't there, the init.d script did not run.
---Enable init.d support with this app
-If it still isn't working after enabling init.d and rebooting, verify that SELinux was set to permissive at boot in QRemote.log
---Try this app to set the SELinux policy instead. If the QuickRemote app force closes when you open it:
-Make sure QuicksetSDK is installed. It won't be in the app drawer, so check Setting->Apps->All
-Clear QuicksetSDK data, delete /sdcard/Quickset Setup, reboot
Thanks to everyone in this thread for helping figure this thing out!
Working perfect on liquid smooth rom, thanks for posting this!
Thanks so much for posting this. Not being able to use Smart IR on AOSP has been killing me. I absolutely hate my LG TV remote. Will be testing on Beanstalk this evening.

KitKat Art, and Lollipop Art, are two different creatures. I'd think that a port of the Lollipop version of this remote from the g3 leaks should work.

Well, if it wouldn't, it wouldn't be a port, am I right?
I tried flashing it on Lollipop and using a different remote App and that didn't work either, even though the App recognized that the G3 has an IR-Blaster.
Guys, if you use a custom rom like CM12, you can make the flashable zip to work by doing the following.
First flash it normally, then grab from XDA the LGs lollipop version of QuicksetSDK, I think there should be a lollipop version, but I copied it from Android HD rom. Then replace the KitKat version with lollipop in in the System/app folder, set the correct permissions and voila it works. I have tested it on my Sony TV, it works like a charm. Good thing is that Smart Remote IR also works if interested to try.

I hope you don't mind me uploading this here @zzeneg, all credits are going to you! If you want me to, I'll take it offline immediately.
I think it should work on any 5.0 AOSP-Rom.
For some reason my IR-Blaster isn't working, the app launches, but the IR-Blaster just doesn't work.
