you can uninstall apps like facebook,Google+ and any other system apps and try to install them manually and make them hibernate using Grinify!

Give the device a restart, if you keep the device running for days (without any restarts) gradually the RAM usage increases and you have less available free RAM. I can already see that the device has been running for nearly 30 hours, usually a restart once every two days is fine. Also you said you have minimal apps but these few in number apps may be huge in memory usage. Other than that I can't say much, doubt it's the kernel in this case, maybe just a one off?

Its fine now.....but the issue happened with a lot of camera usage.....the device rebooted few hours back

Nah, the latest update gives us more free RAM. (atleast, me). Install Clean Master app, and keep cleaning unnecessary tasks that run in background such as Google Play Services (except when downloading), Google Search, Google+, Facebook, FB Messenger(if using), etc. Also try out greenifying (hibernating feature). Use Seeder app to reduce lag if you're facing any. Keep cleaning unnecessary junk using Clean Master app.

Normally how much free RAM do you have while you aren't using any apps ? If its low then there could be some background apps that are using a big chunk of your RAM.
Hope this helps.

300MB free RAM is good enough to run most of the games, could you be more specific for which games are you facing problems ?
If you have a good amount of widgets & live wallpapers on the homescreen then first reduce them to the minimal, that'll help increase the available RAM.
AFAIR there's no way you can automatically kill the background apps on an unrooted handset but remember don't kill all thep background processes as not all are junk some are required.
Better get rooted or install a custom ROM by downloading from this forum & you'll be spared all the hassles.

Try this, but I do not think that will solve these problems.https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wxLDEsImNvbS5hcHBhbGwub3B0aW1pemF0aW9uYm94Il0.
Maybe not a problem in games and applications, install another launcher maybe your current launcher sets the problems..

troubles with 4.2.2

At work 400 people have a S2 Plus. After the update, many problems have arrived:
- APN settings are lost, set to basic. This could be a problem for busines phones.
- [email protected] crashes..... no worries, just an App..
- Google+ crashes... Hmm, sleightly worrying
- S Planner is messed up. Options are unreachable, Letters are massive and i'm unable to change to week view.. it's locked on month (as soon as i have pictures i'll show
- Email letters are massive... changable for email itself but buttons stay big
As soon as i find more, I'll share
Anyone else have these problems?
No I don't have these problems...May be you can reflash the Rom?

We have about 400 S2 Plus phones here, it would not be wise to reflash all those ROM's.. about 50 of those phones have troubles.
Have you guys tried wiping data... like factory reset the whole phone

update to 4.2.2 without wiping will have crashes in some of the apps. it will happen to other phone too(my good old ace),it's wise to have it backup then update n wipe.
I am not having such problems too.

I'll test it on one of the devices'.
Would another option be re-installing the apps? if i could get my hands on the apk of s-planner for instance..

Any of you have problem with phone freezing? Not in use, when it is on standby. It work only when it is rebooted (holding power button for 5 seconds) or when battery is pulled out and powered on again.
Friend of mine has this problem since he upgraded to 4.2.2. First it was often, he used Powersave option. After he turned Powersave off, phone worked normal for some day (about 10). And now the problem occurred again, without Powersave on.

Nexus 5 lagging

Going through some threads it seems most dont experience any lag so im wondering what the problem could be in my case i sometimes notice slight lags when opening/closing app drawer, switching to quick settings, opening/closing apps (turned off animations so not really a problem now) and a few other instances is this normal? it got quite bad so i unrooted it and locked bootloader then unlocked and re-rooted and at the moment i am on stock rom, stock launcher and faux123 stable mainline 11 kernel

Doubt it's your kernel. I'm running stock and suffering as well :/ It could also be a defect, some run fine others don't. Same with the same speaker issue, some newer owners especially the red ones claim it sounds better as the old ones.

Installing updates from Play doesn`t make the phone laggy unless there is a problem with an app or some apps. Rebooting after installing updates clears most problems most of the time.

Killing apps is it worth it??

I have a bad habit of frequently clearing all apps from my recents
I somewhere read that it's not good (can't remember where)
So is it worth killing apps frequently ?? Does this effect battery life too??
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hi,
I would say you "kill" multitasking...
...which is actually not good, because opening an app that is already in the phones RAM loads much faster plus it doesn't consume that much battery juice
Just leave em. Don't be obsessed with closing stuff all the time
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Apps running in your multi tasking window still drain some battery. Even Google suggests closing them if you're not using them, to extend battery life.
Launching apps doesn't doesn't spike my current widget readings so I don't think much battery is used there. I've noticed rebooting the phone does cause huge spikes though so try and only do that while plugged in.

This topic has been debated again and again. It makes no tangible difference in battery life. If you want to swipe your apps, go ahead and swipe them. You will never see a difference in battery. And that's because there isn't one.

Usually its best to just keep pressing the back button repeatedly to exit an app and let it be in the recents. I read that just swiping the app off the Recent doesn't completely exit the app and there's still some background process that will be running for some time.

[Q] Google search update lag

I have had a look online to see if others are having my problem but can't seem to find anything on it so thought i would ask here.
A few months back i created a thread regarding lag issues on my nexus 5 more specifically app drawer opening/closing lag, well after flashing back to stock, unrooting and factory resetting a few times the lag was still there UNTIL i turned off auto update apps and the lag dissapeared so i figured it must be an app so after a while of trying to find out which one it is i found out it was the updated google search causing the lag for some reason so i uninstalled the updates and the lag dissapeared and now i have had auto update off for a couple of months.
Well now i want to turn auto update all apps on again and update the google search app to get ok google again but again after updating the lags back so had to delete it once again, anyone got any ideas on why this is happening? I have already tried rebooting the phone which didn't make a difference so i wiped dalvik and cache again this didn't make any difference

Yes the lag is there when opening and closing the app drawer. The only google service that causes this is the google search app, when i uninstall it through play store it just uninstalls the updates so i lose the ok google hotword feature but the lag is completely gone and the phone is buttery smooth, as soon as i update it again the lag starts.
I'm on a rooted nexus 5 4.4.2 running a stable release of faux kernel that's it everything else is stock

Can you switch to ART and see if the problem persist? If you are not comfortable switching, you could flash the Dalvik+Bionic library optimization. I found it very smooth, compared to stock Dalvik.
Also, scale down Windows animation and Transition animation to .5x in developer options.

That's a crude way of putting it, but yes. In a way we're all trying to mask our phone's shortcomings. Seeing that even though we all have the same phones, yet some are better than others, some encounter more problems than others, some have better battery life than others. You can't come in here and expect your phone to be perfect with no problems. Sometimes we find a fix, sometimes we find a workaround. It's hard to pinpoint the problem without much in-depth troubleshooting, but if it "fixes" the problem, than that should be sufficient for now right?
(damn I feel like a philosopher)

If that was the case, this whole forum would not exist. Every phone is different, even if they're the same model. We tweak it and mod it to our liking, and we never stop trying to bring it to its optimum ability.
Yes ART is unstable to some apps and mods. Before rooting my phone, I was on ART for a few months on stock. It was very smooth, and surprisingly didn't have any incompatibility issues. After root, in order to have Xposed, I had to switch to Dalvik. There was definitely some lag issues. I also experienced them with the app drawer, similar to yours. But to circumvent that, I flashed the Dalvik+Bionic libraries and it was as smooth, if not smoother, than it was while I was on stock ART.

So your saying that let's say we both bought the same phone in this case the nexus 5 and when we turn it on it's brand new so nothing installed on it yet but one phone has lag but the other is as smooth as butter would you consider that perfectly normal or would you think something is wrong?
I have been running ART for a few hours now and unfortunately the lag is still there, once i uninstall the google search app updates it goes back to being as smooth as butter same as when i was on dalvik but like dalvik once i install it again the lag comes back
