🔴► Can NOT edit/delete/rename files with any root app??? - Android General

Hey I have a rooted s3 and I can not get any root manager app to: edit, delete nor rename any files, not even stuff in the downloads folder.
I also noticed that my dropbox can't install anything either, just says "storage full or unavailable" but my storage is fine, i have over 9gb of internal storage left.
I patched titanium backup with lucky patcher and I know once I had a message about not having enough storage but got it fix by deleting some file in /sys/app folder i think could this have anything to do with it?
P.S. I've tried fixing permissions in TWRP and it didn't help
P.S. I actually don't think any of my apps have permissions to access the internal memory. I just tired using viber and the app can't even look for a picture from my gallery to sent...
What could be causing this guys?? Could it be a bad root? What should I do, I don't really wanna reinstall my rom and then reroot, its too much work.

[Q] [i5800] No free internal memory!

Hi there,
I have a Samsung Galaxy 3 i580 device, and whenever I want to put something on my internal (root) memory, I get a 'no space' error.
Now I installed Root Explorer, and it seems that there are A LOT of .apk files in my /system/apk folder.
Am I allowed to delete these .apk's, or are they actually used?
And what else should/can I do to clear my memory?
Note: I still have 40+ mb memory left on the phone to install apps, just not in the root memory.
Thanks in advance for your time!
have you tried to mount system r/w in rootexplorer
You can delete them with root explorer...just be sure you know which you are removing as some are essential for a stable phone
swyped....and I apologize for not proofreading
Yes, the system was in r/w from the beginning.
Question: When I use apps2sd, will my apps still be installed to the /system/app folder on my internal memory?
Most will and app2sd will notify you if they can be moved but some apps automatically install to sd. Angry birds is one example.

So there is no way to make free space in my internal memory, except for removing apps?

[Q] Not Enough Internal Storage

Hello,
Infuse 4g. I uninstalled Skype (which is apparently a mistake) because when I try and reinstall it, the phone locks up, black screen, and reboots upon install. The Skype app downloads fine, but will not install with out locking up the phone. Sometimes, I get a message which states I have too little of internal storage, which is at .93GB. Does any body have any suggestions for me about how to install Skype?
The phone is rooted and I have titanium backup, which I tried to reinstall that way to, same problem, the phone locks up.
Any ideas about how to get more internal storage.
Thanks
Charles
Hmm try cleaning your /data partition or going to ics

Use tibu to move some apps to sd card?

Check threads about what you can safely remove
I use TiBu and remove youtube, maps, voice apps, news apps, and other crap. I typically try to keep 90 to 100 mb free.
Do a search for things you can safely remove.
Do a tibu backup before removing. If something goes wrong you can easily reinstall it.
well, Ive removed alot of stuff I dont use, but internal storage remains at .91 GB? This is a major drag, not having Skype really sucks. What's odd, is I used to have Skype on the phone, I uninstalled it thinking it would be no big deal to reinstall it...but it will not install. Skype downloads fine, but upon installation, it will lock up the phone everytime and I must reboot. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Thanks GoSooners, but you lost me. How do I clean my data partition?

Well you can wipe your data partition but it'll uninstall your apps and undo anything you've done with your phone. Just move some large apps to sd card. You can do that by going into settings. You shouldn't see that message unless you have less than about 200-300 mb.
I am more than satisfied with the internal storage...
I dont install much apps, just essentials, it also helps when changing roms because u dont have to install all of them everytime...

unrelated that's all on the system partition which is read only and doesn't need free space..
the free space error is a market problem and unrelated to the actual free space. some kernels have a patch for this. i dont really remember the details for fixing it manually but gtg used to have a modified market and a init.d script that fixed it but that was on an old version of the market.
if you can get a current version of the apk you can side load it with a file explorer by either clicking it and letting the install program run or by moving it to /data/app with a root file explorer.
between 1+gb data partition for apps and app data and the apps2sd feature in android and 14gb internal sd storage you shouldn't have storage issues. even if you fill the sd with rom .zips and multimedia you should still never reach the 1gb /data partition because android apps simply arent that big with the exception of a few high end games that i beleive actually install to the sdcard
.93gb is a ton of space for phone apps! but is that the internal sd or the /data partition
Thanks Dani897. If I read you correctly, you believe it's a problem with the app, and not the phone? Which is what I always thought. When I first got the phone, Skype installed fine, now it does not.
Phone Info:
Samsung I-997 Infuse, rooted
Version: Froyo
Go Launcher
Internal SD Card Storage = 8.12 GB available
External SD Card Storage = 6.8 GB available
Internal Phone Storage = .92 GB
Maybe if I could somehow get an old version of Skype, maybe that would work?

Insufficient storage available

I'm getting this when trying to update a few apps in the market. Titanium backup shows that my ROM is only about 790 MB. I haven't tried moving apps to the SD card. My internal storage is showing several GB free.
You can't know your limits until you exceed them.
Performed backup, wiped cache+dalvik, rebooted. No help. Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhhhhh.

You have a rogue .odex file in your /data/app folder. Probably left there by lucky patcher if you have been using that. remove the .odex file and you will be fine.
Seems I have a few folders named data...
Internal>Android>data
Internal>data
Can you give me the full path?

you only have one /data/app folder found in the root folder
It is not on internal - that is your internal sd storage space. It is on your data partition - you will need to use esfile explorer or root explorer.
Since I'm having the issue with FX file explorer from next app, could it be that one seen in the screen shot? I only see 3 odex files in this folder. Safe to delete all three?

Have you used lucky patcher to patch them?
Something has cracked these apps. You only need to remove the orphaned ones to solve your issue. If they have a corresponding .apk, the app will force close if you remove the .odex as well.
I didn't use lucky patcher on this that I remember. Is it safe to delete the odex files if all I have to do is then reinstall those that force close?

The three that have odex are titanium backup, gauge battery widget, and FX file explorer. Might have tried to lucky patch on TiB.

None of them should be odexed so something has odexed them. Yes you can uninstall them, remove the .odex files and uninstall. Whether it fixes your problem remains to be seen.
I used root explorer to delete the associated odex of next app FX file explorer. Reinstallation of FX successful. Thanks!

[Q] What's on my SD Card?

I wanted to start this thread because I am having trouble, (and I assume other noobs are as well), understanding what's on my SD Card and how to navigate through it.
I've attached what I see when I open my device and check the internal storage.
My main reasoning for trying to understand all that's on my SD Card is because it's important! And because I'm trying to figure out where all my apps are stored. I recently installed the venom custom ROM, and since then have lost the knowledge of where my .apk files are stored. That's really what I'm after trying to find those files. I've searched every folder but still no dice. I used Titanium Pro to backup all my files but there is nothing located in the Titanium folder.
Can anybody help me identify where my .apk files are located?
I also have a few .apk files I wish to install on my phone. From what I've gathered the way to do this is to add them to where the other .apk files are located and then Fix Permissions. If I cannot locate my .apk files is there another file path I could save it to?
Lastly I have these two files I have not recognized before, BUGSENSE and .profig
What are these files?
So if you're downloading the apks off a website they'll be in the downloads folder if you downloaded then through Google play..they won't be on your sd unless you manually backed up them up through titanium

Right okay, so if I choose to back them up onto the SD card then my .apk file paths should appear? Because as you can see now I have no app folders on my phone (sd card) currently.
I've backed up my phone via titanium still nothing in there is an .apk file.
I'm also interested in keeping my phone clean of useless things (another reason for this thread).
As file explorer. Settings allow up to root allow root. Go up from sd card. System/data folder

If you go to titanium backup location on sd card and open it you will find what you looking for. Its pretty easy to restore backup in titanium app itself.....also a true backup should be done in twrp recovery as it backs up everything (file partitions, kernel, radio, apps) it will save a copy (known as a nandriod backup) on your sd card that you can recover if your rom won't boot or you just need to restore .

Make sure you enable writing to the root folder as well. System apps are in system/app.

HELP PLEASE! Lost all apps =(

Pretty sure I just lost all my apps. I flashed eaglesblood 4.0.4. I followed everything to the T. I made a backup with titanium back up of all my apps, but titanium is no longer on my phone.....
Before I flashed the app, I made a complete back up of my 2.3.4 rooted rom and moved it to my PC. Is there anything I can do to get my old apps back? I don't know what i did wrong. I even lost my gallery with all my photos.
Google gapps and flash the ics version. That's what you need to get the play store so you can get titanium so you can restore your apps. If you're using titanium I'd recommend forking over the money for pro version, it is well worth it.
I already did install the gapps for the pics version....so I need to get titanium again from the play store? It will have all my backed up apps?
Yes it backs them up on your sd card or wherever you store stuff.
Can I restore my apps manually through cwm?
Titanium is giving me n error saying the backup location cannot be accessed...... please help lol
Titanium is giving me n error saying the backup location cannot be accessed...... please help lol
Titanium makes a folder in which it saves all your stuff. If you can't find this folder anywhere then your stuff is gone. But you can restore your backed up rom through cwm and start over.
When I backed up my rom, after using titanium to back up my apps, I copied the back up folder to my PC. Then I deleted from my phone to save memory space since I do not have an external SD card. I think that may be why. If I plug my phone into my PC and copy that file back into my phone in the back up directory do you think that will help?
Thanks for the help twitch, appreciate it man
Yeah that would fix it

With titanium use the option to enable dropbox sync that way you can save space and hopefully still find your apps. I have just 8gb sd card and it's overflowing with crap so maybe I should take my own advice lol. Thanks man! No prob, dude.
Thanks for the tip. I need to buy a damn SD card. Doing that tomorrow. I'm gonna go ahead and see if adding that file back to my phone works.....
Computer isn't recognizing my phone anymore....I reinstalled the ADB LB drivers but cant install them for my device..any tips?
ok, i realized I needed to install the modified ADB drivers to work with ICS. I did that. As i am looking through the internal files on my phone, I went to titanium backup....ALL OF THE APPS are in there that I previously backed up...but when I try to restore them titanium says gives me an error saying "/mnt/sdcard/titaniumbackup" cannot be accessed. Do I have to mount my internal SD card?
Since the Apps are IN TITANIUM just waiting to be restored, is there a way for me to do it manually through CWM recovery?
AHHHHH I GOT IT TO WORK!!!!!!! I'm so happy right now. I downloaded an app from the play store called SD Binder and mounted my internal SD card to location file of my backups in titanium, reboot, and boom, titanium worked like a charm. My old photo gallery was the only app unable to be restored because i'm pretty sure this ICS version requires an external SD card since I can't even use my camera on the phone....it says i need an external SD card to take photos. So once i get that I'm sure I'll be able to restore all my old photos....at lease they're still on the phone and I know they're there.
Thanks again fro the help Twitch!
