[Q] Question about battery heat during wireless charging - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I am using a metrans wireless charger mwt03 for my nexus 5.
During charging the battery temperature is beween 40-44,5 degrees celcius.
Is this too hot for the phone?
Sometimes it will go to 45 degrees where the phone will still charge but state (overheat) as a status (instead of health: good).
Should I look for another wireless charger?

[Q] Nokia Wireless charger continues charging after battery is full

I bought a Nokia wireless charger from ATT online store.
It works on my nexus 5, but when the phone is full charged the LED light on the charger is still solid on (on means charging, and blinking means done). However I go to Setting->battery, and it shows battery is full.
My question is which one is right?
-Wireless charger is still charging the phone.
-The system shows battery is full, so the phone won't be charged. But since the charger is Nokia, so it doesn't know my Nexus 5 battery is full.
Thanks in advance
I believe there phone will stop charging the battery buy the charger won't know so it'll keep going. The phone has the circuitry to prevent damage to the phone.

I purchased (2) tylt wireless chargers from kickstarter a while back and I planned to keep the N5 cradled most of the time.
Unfortunately while the chargers work great they also heat the battery to 110 F while charging as compared to around 80 F with a straight USB charger. I'm afraid this heat will eventually kill the battery. Since the battery isn't easily replaceable I've decided to abandon the wireless chargers.
The batteries and the whole device stays hot after its charged and until I pull it off the charger. I didn't notice whether the charge light actually went out on the charger itself after the charge was completed. If I'm brave or (dumb) enough to try it again I'll report back.
Anyone having better luck with the stock wireless charger or other wireless chargers like the Nokia?
I purchased the same Nokia wireless charging pad, and, despite the LED not turning off on the pad, the battery DOES stop charging once it is full.
This can be observed through a battery monitoring app like Battery Widget Reborn. If you look at the battery graph at any point after the battery hits 100%, and before you remove it from the charging pad, you'll notice an even 2 or 3 percent drop and rise at regular intervals. This is the trickle charge mechanism. Once the battery is full, it stops charging, Once the battery drops down to a certain percentage, the charge resumes, and the cycle repeats itself until you take the phone off of the charging pad.
Same here with another brand on wireless charging pad, I think it's normal

Are you not concern with premature battery wear considering now it's not user replaceable? Heat is supposedly not good for battery life.

This really explained me what happens. Thanks !!!

Fast charger heating up the phone

the phone gets heated up to about 40-45 degrees Celsius if continuously kept on charging to charge 50-60% of the battery but once the phone reaches 70% the heat decreases and above 800% its cool is it normal for the phone/charger or i should get charger replaced? The charging pin also gets heated up ! Is it due to fast charger or i have a defective charging port?

Wireless charge temperature

Hi all, I buy a fast wireless charge from anker on amazon and I wold this know if my device is working right or is damage. I monitor the temperature and I see that on standard cable (no fast) the temperature stay on 26 °C and with wireless charge (no fast) stay in 34 °C and stay this temperature with 100% charge too. Is normal or when arrive to 100% the temperature must go down?
It should go down and cool completely when charging is over (at least thats how my s7 acts with choetech wireless charger, also using slow charging). Just give it some time after it reaches 100% (10 minutes or so).
Mine keeps being warm after a night on the wireless charger, so i guess charging doesn't stop automatically?
(just have my s7 for two days so that's something i have to look at)
I don't like it being warm as long as it is on the charger.
(samsung charger, that refuses to go to green color when it should finish, it stays blue)
Ok thanks I'm go to change my wireless charge with other model
I have the anker fast charge model (first photo)
And I would to buy the yootech model (second photo)
All see on amazon
edit:
added photo
I have the fast charge Choetech Wireless charger, and the temperature stay high at 100%, between 32 °C et 35 °C.
To solve this , kinda extreme, i bought a WeMo Switch operated by Tasker. One profile that turn off the Wireless charge 15 minutes after the battery come to 100% and another profile that start the charger between 0% and 95%.

ok so probably this are normal temperature. i'm try to chage my model with the other one that on amazon say me that ar not get warm. get i try
Choetech quick wireless charger, using slow charge. This morning, phone as cold as it wasnt on the charger at all. (Cooltool at the top of the screen measures phone temperature)
I use the Anker quick charge wireless charger to charge my phone over night on quick charge setting. Phone is cold to the touch in the morning when I wake up and at 100%. I do have a case on but no heat detected from charger or case when I wake up.

First charme with new wireless charge and I can confirm that the temperature stay the same little warm so I think is a normal temperature. This model is better then other is little more big and I can place more easily to start receive energy

Question Phone is heated up with wireless 9W charger without me touching the phone

hello guys, i recived a wireless 9w charger with my Samsung s22 ultra, and when I'm charging the phone with it, the phone heated up to around 45 celsius ...
I'm not touching the phone during the charging, also the phone heated when I'm using the 45W charger...
what I'm missing?
please guys need help
My s21u also heated up when charging wirelessly on a 8w wireless charger....I got a 15w one from a friend to test and the heating wasn't as bad....There are some days that my s22u also heats up when charging, but mostly it's cool....probably stuff/apps doing things in the back ground. I disabled the "screensaver" when charging and that helped a bit
Wireless charging by it's nature, causes a lot of heat. Charging in general does. Ambient temp will have a small effect on it's heat too.

I never use wireless charging due to the higher temps it seems to produce as a side effect. I've also heard (but not verified) that poor alignment of the phone on the wireless charger makes it charge less optimally and hence produce additional heat.
I bought a wireless charging stand with a built-in fan on Amazon a few years ago. I have it connected to the 9w charger that came with my Note9. The device does not get much warmer than normal, but of course, it does not charge as fast as it would with a USB cable.
Does it get as hot, or hot at all, when charging while the phone is off completely?
That's way too hot. For comparison, my 2022 15 Watt Wireless Duo gets up to around 103f.

Samsung S10 only charges to 4.225 mV while turned on and upto 4.3 mV when turned off

i have a samsung galaxy s10 and somehow i notice that the charging speed is blazing fast from 89% to 100%. Then i monitor the peak voltage using AIDA64 and Accubattery. When my phone reached 100% it shows the voltage of 4.225 mV, i read that S10 supposed to charge upto 4.285 mV. After that i tried calibrating the battery by discharging it until my phone turned off by itself then charge to 100% while turned off and it shows 4.3 mV after i turned in on. What is happening to my phone and should i be worried about it?
In fact fast charging ramps down at about 80% then again around 90% in order to protect the battery. Excessive cold temperatures will cause fast charging not to engage.
You can't accurately measure Li charge level voltage or fast charge with the display on. If the display is on the power controller senses the excess power usage and ramps down fast charging. It will charge slowly at best.
To measure the voltage with Accubattery have the window open then turn off the display. When you turn it on you have about a second to see the voltage as it samples around every second or so.
It will immediately drop down then.
Depending on temperature, current draw and battery condition it may limit the top charge.
Fast charging to 100% stresses the battery needlessly as does constantly discharging below 20%. Li's prefer frequent midrange power cycling ie 40-72%. High cell voltage and temperature are their enemies. High discharge rates also can accelerate their degradation by driving up temperature.
Ideal minimum start charge temperature for fast charging is about 82F, minimum is 72F. If below about 55F fast charging will not engage for that charge cycle.
Cold charging Li's can cause Li plating which will permanently degrade the cell, a oid doing this!
NEVER attempt to charge an Li that is near freezing temperature
So thats the reason why my phone once dropped its percentage from 30% to 5% in an instant after having it in front of my car air conditioner. But is there a reason why my phone charged very fast from 89% to 100%?
It shouldn't drop that fast! Or charge faster near full charge. This is atypical performance.
You using the Samsung 25w brick and cable?
Erratic fast charging is a sign of a battery failure. Any swelling is a battery failure, replace asap.
Im using samsung 15w fast charging and btw i have replaced the battery around 5 months ago and i notice the fast charging speed only recently. Samsung didnt reset mt battery cycle when replacing the battery tho

You need the 25 watt Samsung brick and cable.
15 watts will slow fast charging down if it works at all. If fast charging it should add about 2%@minute for 4100mAh battery in the 20-70% charging range.
