PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTINUING ATTENTAMEMTE FOLLOWING LINES. Thank you.
ATTENTION as always for clarity and do not take any responsibility for any malfunctions BRICK or several of your Acer E350 Liquid Gallant Duo due to the use of the changes, files and guides that I have proposed here, then do these steps at your own risk danger, and I recommend you perform them only after being certain that you understand what you do and you understand the meaning and having read and re-read this post and the various guides that you will find.
Any operating errors could affect the use of your smartphone forcing you to send it in for repair in service.
Flashing is a dangerous action and should be done very carefully.
First custom rom for this new device of Acer with dual sim. I created this rom is a first base for those who want to try their hand at their own customizations and various modding. The changes made are few so this first custom rom stays true to the original graphics as well as to present the app with only the addition of two new (Quick Boot and NofrillCPU). Do not think in exceptional increases the performance of your device, the purpose is to be a base to start working. Of course, this custom rom is already including Root with SuperUser.
Being the first custom rom for this device and one of the few around these devices based mtk65xx I wanted to BETA version for any bugs that may arise.
In the following lines I will try to make a detailed guide to installing a custom rom.
TECHNICAL SECTION
Type Device: Acer Liquid Gallant Duo E350 (C8).
Base Rom Used: OS_Acer_E350_1.000.18 EMEA.FR_A40I_A ---> used files: system.img and boot.img taken from the downloaded zip file.
Acer Rom Date: 25/10/2012
Links Official Acer Rom: Here
Links Official Acer France: Here
System Android: 4.0.3 ICS
INSTALLATION GUIDE
1. Pre Installation (Root, Recovery Mod and Advice)
A. Having the battery to 100%
B. Having a microSD almost 4 gb
C. Read and re-read again carefully review this guide and the guides for the root and recovery.
D. If you have not installed the SuperRecovery with Root passed through this Post and follow the step by step guide of ROOT. Then come back here and go to step E.
E. If you already have or you have just installed the SuperRecovery with Root continue with the installation of ClockworkMod 6.0.2.8 Beta 1 following the guidance found in this Post and then come back here and continue to drive through to step 2.
At this point, the first part is over and you will have your Gallant Duo with the permissions of the new Root and ClockworkMod Recovery installed.
2. Backup (System and Applications)
A. The market download a backup app like Titanium Backup (free) and take a backup of your applications that you have downloaded and installed earlier. Wipe carefully with you also lose all your sms and mms so if you do not want to lose save them with an app that you will surely find the Play Store.
B. Also from the market for those who have problems getting into Recovery with Vol + and Power download Quick Boot (Free).
C. Enter now in recovery using Quick Boot (if downloaded) Recovery choosing the menu for this app otherwise you have to turn off your device and enter the combination of the Vol + and Power.
D. Now you have to do a full backup system for restoring. Use the Volume keys go to the Backup and Restore menu and enter the Power Button.
E. In this sub menu drop down to the line "choose backup format" and confirm by pressing Power now get a line on the choice tar and confirm again with Power. You will set up the compression format. Tar.
F. Confirm that you see now on the first choice and that is "up" with the usual power button. Now just wait until the full backup! your Device (boot.img, recovery.img, System, Data and Cache).
G. Using the Volume keys go to the line + + + + + Go Back + + + + + and press Power.
H. Finally, again by pressing Power up line reboot system now to restart your device.
I. With the device turned on connect it to your PC using the USB cable and you will see the microSD ext (sdcard2) a new folder "ClockworkMod" for further safety advice to copy it to your PC. Else within the full backup of your system and then again get done just before a backup inside your PC.
Now the second point is finished so if you're still not convinced continue with the guide and go to step 3 to flash the custom rom.
3. Installing Custom Rom (Download, Wipe, Flash)
A. Downloaded from the link at the bottom of the page in the section DOWNLOAD my custom rom.
B. Copy it into your microSD
C. Restart your Gallant Duo Recovery with Quick Boot or Off with the usual combination of buttons Vol + and Power
D. First of all we have to do a clean install to make the two Wipe in the recovery. Then go to the line "wipe data / factory reset" and confirm by pressing Power. Do the same with the next choice "wipe cache partion". You will have reported at this point your device to factory state as the first starting of the engine.
E. Finally you are ready to flash your custom rom going on line "install zip from sdcard" and confirm by pressing Power.
F. Again confirmed on the first choice "choose zip from sdcard" with Power.
G. Now you have to choose the file you want to install name_custom_rom.zip. For my custom rom LiquiDuos.zip confirming with the usual Power button.
H. Finally get off the line and confirmed - Yes - Install LiquiDuos.zip. ----> Finally will start the installation.
I. Wait until the installation is finished.
L. Restart your device confirming the line reboot system now.
M. Reset all like the first time. If you synchronize your account you will download the app you previously installed and any updates. Otherwise downloaded from the market or install Titanium Backup and reinstall the app that you had previously saved at the beginning of this guide.

I found custom recovery from here:
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=271693&uk=973327405
I think it is in Chinese, I have not installed it yet.
Does anyone knows that is it possible to build new recovery by using http://builder.clockworkmod.com/ and does it change the language to English?
I tried that tool by using Chinese recovery.img. It created new recovery.img successfully without any errors, but I have not tried it yet. Is it safe to use? I used builder just with recovery.img but without recovery.fstab because I wasn't able to find it.
What if the device fails to boot? I do have original firmware on .zip file, but not sure is it possible to boot and install original firmware from SD card.
ZTE stock recovery is actually in english !!!!

My bad didnt check beforehand, it seems the stock recovery mode on the zte v985 is actually in english which allows to flash roms from zip files placed on the root directory of the micro sd card.
To enter ZTE Recovery Mode do as follows: Firstly power off device then Hold down volume down key and then hold down power key, when the zte logo appears on screen let go of the power key but still keep the volume down key held you will enter zte recovery mode which will allow you to wipe data, update from micro sd card etc.
Hope this helps.

4.1.2 update was released today. Here's the direct link for download:
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=3082485858&uk=3442944625
It's recommended to update first from B03 to B04 and then do the 4.1.2 update. Here's the link for 4.0.4 B04:
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=3921007642&uk=3945654451
How to do 4.1 update. Remember to backup first!:
1. Download V985_update_4.1.2.7z upgrade package file and unzip the file. Under the folders there's update.zip.
2. Copy update.zip to the external SD card root directory
3. Enter the "Settings" -> "System Software Updates" -> "Storage card upgrade." and uncheck "retain user data upgrade". If this is checked, it will cause some issues and the phone might not boot.
4.Click the OK button to upgrade. Upgrade process starts automatically after a few seconds.

How to root ZTE V985 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
Hi, it seems that ZTE has brought a new android version to the V985 called 222200B1329ZTE V985V1.0.0B04.
I have a V985 with android 4.0.4 version B03 installed, rooted and equipped with Gapps. I can only upgrade into stock which removes my root and Gapps.
Can anyone tell me how to root the V985V1.0.0B04 android 4.1.2 version?
Thanks
I was able to compile and run fully working clockworkmode recovery from CM10.1 stream,
I was also able to compile and port CM10.1 to this device. Currently thinking if we could port CM10.2 to this device.

Phone won't start!
I have installed 4.1.2 update on my v985, but it was draining my battery very fast, i tried to install back to B04, but it was not working, i couldn't install. Then i tried to install Clockwork Recovery and now phone won't start, iz just turns on ZTE logo and stops!
Help please!! Is there anyway to unbrick my phone?
Phone is something like read only
I have a v985. I received it rooted, but a lot of message was in Chinese an it did not download my contacts from gmail.
I've flashed all ROMs that I found, finaly I'm stuck in "enterprise_V985_signed_101613_1017.zip".
Google play does not start. It just flashes up.
I have a Chinese application search app, where I can install apps. It seems to be installed, but the app is nowhere.
I can boot into recovery, but I can't wipe or format at all. Nothing.
I can run "install zip", it loads the zip, the commands are started, it writes that it is OK, but does not change the phone at all.
The strand that I can make photo, it is saved, I can copy files to phone and to sd card...
What can be the problem?
hello there! It seems to be quiet here, did someone solve the problem? I have also this zte version, all things is working correctly except the battery, the current rom is ics 4.0.4 v985v1.0.0B03, the android system consumes itself about 50% of battery everyday even when the phone is in standby, I would like replace the kernel with a new one, if someone has some ideas I'm very interested. :good:

Thanks for English version of the tools!

Thanks, so far so good. Rooted and application restored from my Meizu device's backup.
The only questions for now are:
how to change lockscreen picture and name? I see camomile and "Name" there and no settings to change them. Some additional app should be installed for this customization?
also I'd like to remove this ugly wide "Head Set Applications" bar...
Home screen, slide right and clic theme icon, can download more online
---------- Post added at 05:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:13 PM ----------
you can edit your current unlock scren by, slide down on the picture, slide right and clic + ,you can change name (for all pictures) and add new picture
Thank you, concerning lockscreen avatar and name... What about this?
> I'd like to remove this ugly wide "Head Set Applications" bar...
Could someone please tell, which processes in VIVO Xplay can be safely uninstalled or at least provide their description? There is a lot of bloatware and useless battery drainers as I can see...
I also cannot figure out how to enter Recovery 2e without using cable connection to computer? When I press volume up and power buttons - I get to Recovery 3e, that is not good, because it checks for signatures and other stuff and I cannot apply any custom ROM I have found: only using computer each time and running adb stuff...I thought that I maybe would need to unlock bootloader for that, but running fastboot.oem.unlock.bat brings me to penguin in left top corner and the phone does not reboot itself: it is the same result as I get when I press volume down and power buttons. No key combination to get into Recovery 2e from the phone?

I am going to write you some simple steps to install CWM 6.0.3.4 / TWRP 2.5.0.0 recovery on your Lenovo A850.
I will be very detailed, advanced users should skip the boring stuff
This guide was writed based on this thread. A similar guide can be found at this thread. Look there for more info.
You will need:
- Rooted Lenovo A850 (simple guide here, not tested)
- Mobileuncle MTK Tools (GooglePlay)
- Recovery Image for A850 (CWM or TWRP)
BEFORE GOING ON, MIND THAT I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF ANYTHING HAPPENS ON YOUR PHONE.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
INSTUCTIONS:
1. Download the recovery image:
First of all we need to find out what firmware version our phone has (ROW or CN).
I can see mine looking the Baseband version (located at Settings->About phone->Version Infos->Baseband version) which is "A850.ROW.v18", so i have a ROW firmware installed. I suppose it will say something like "A850.CN.vXX" if you have a CN filmware.
If you don't know which version you own, try one. If it is the wrong version, your phone will just not boot into the recovery. Reboot the phone and install an other version.
Now we can download the right recovery image version.
- For ROW firmware download this (Mirror 1 from source thread).
(This version of CWM never worked for me, scroll down at bugs)
- For CN firmware download this (Mirror 1 from source thread).
(Downloads include both CWM and TWRP recoveries)
After downloading, extract the content (use 7zip program). You will see 3 files, we will not need the "MT6582_Android_scatter.txt" file. You can delete it or keep it if you want to flash roms in the future.
2. Move the revovery image in you SD card:
Connect your phone on your PC and mount the SD card. Now move the recovery image you want in you phone's SD card:
- For TWRP is the "recovery_TWRP_2.5.0.0.img" file
- For CWM is the "recovery_z_CWM_v6.0.3.4.img" file
(You can delete the other one after that)
When the move finishes, disconnect the phone.
3. Install Mobileuncle MTK Tools:
Open GooglePlay on your phone, search for "Mobileuncle" and install Mobileuncle MTK Tools.
4. Install recovery: (IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING DO NOT PROCEED)
Open Mobileuncle MTK Tools. (You will be asked to give root permition to the app, select always yes)
Click on "Recovery Update" and the app will find the recovery image in your SD card. (in the first line, do not click any other recovery)
Click on the recovery image you selected (recovery_TWRP_2.5.0.0.img or recovery_z_CWM_v6.0.3.4.img), click OK to install recovery... wait some seconds, and then click OK to reboot into recovery.
Done! You are in the recovery
(If the phone reboots and then shutdown, the recovery.img didn't work. Try an other version.)
How to get into recovery: (2 simple ways)
- Power of your phone. Wait some second. Press the power button and bot h volume keys and not let them go until the logo appears (the phone will also vibrate). It takes up to 7 seconds to open, keep pressing the buttons until the vibration.
- With Mobileuncle MTK Tools, open it and click on "Into Recovery Mode".
Keys:
- CWM: Use volume keys and the power button to move around
- TWRP: Touch the screen, swipe etc.

Bugs:
- I got an error will trying to backup (CWM ROW version), "can't mount data" . If you face this problem, better install this CWM version. It worked for me

I do not want to mirror the files since they are not my work. The links work fine, try again please
If you can't, try this file (ROW version ONLY). It is a different version, i have tested it, this is the version i am currently using. I do not remember who made it but his name is written in the recovery. Use at your own risk! I take no responsibility!
What will possibly happen when something goes wrong about installing cwm on my phone?.. will this get rid of my chinese stock recovery?... thanks again...

Yes it should get rid of the chinese recovery.
If something goes wrong you will probably have to install a new recovery again, nothing special, but when you mess with your phone i do not know what you may click on. I do not know how experienced each user is, somebody can delete the whole rom of his phone clicking a wrong button... and i do not want him to come back and say "you did that".
thanks sir.. i've followed all your instructions.. i have installed TWRP on my a850 successfully... However the CWM does not work... CWM was the first recovery i tried because im much familiar with it but when i enter recovery mode, TWRP is the one installed... But still, i got a new recovery which i understand... Thank you very much sir and more power to you... If you have other mods for lenovo a850, can you please share it here... Thanks Again...
Thanks for your Tutorial, I have replaced stock recovery with TWRP successfully.
Do you have any custome ROM that can be flashed into this Lenovo A850 by using TWRP ?
I used TWRP to flash the ROM from this site xiaomi.eu/community/threads/4-2-14.23544/ , but failed (stuck at Lenovo logo at boot).

Even though i use CWM, the bootlogo stuck for me was not caused by the recovery.
I had the same problem. You must first install the s121 rom.
WARNING after the install you will not be able to get back just with a CWM, TWRP restore. (i believe you will have to flash the stock rom again to do so)
If you want to proceed, follow this video.
(when you click Firmware Update, wait 2-3 seconds and connect your phone WITH battery closed, that is what i couldn't do)
hi, what is my version ?
thx

Just installed the CWM finally, yup it is in Eng and the most important part is wiping out the chinese language. thanks
I have to agree, sending to recovery terminal by using the hardware key power button + vol up/down key is just too difficult to do so, most of the time sent me to meta or factory mode. Mobileuncle tool works but what I am most preferred by using the button in case the ROM inaccessible and I am unable to reach mobileuncle to do the restoration.
help
Hello! Can I install CWM from app Rom Manager not? Thank you.
Anyone have cwm for Lenovo a680 ?
Sent from my Lenovo A680_ROW using XDA Free mobile app
