Hi guys, I tried flashing my bootloader but it doesn't work .
Is my tf101 dead for sure?

(I tried posting to the O-doom thread but it's inactive)
Thanks

Battery is 100% dead? Holds no charge at all ?
You probably won't be able to do anything with it at all until you have a working battery, it'll need its own power source before you can connect it to the PC successfully I'd have thought, PC doesn't supply enough power
You'll need a new battery or a dock with a fully charged battery to keep it powered on while you flash it
Once you have power sorted out, use Easyflasher to flash TWRP Recovery, then flash a ROM from TWRP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012
Thanks, but why does it need battery power? Isn't the USB cable enough to power it through the flash process?
I'll check the battery right after I get my hands on a t5 screwdriver
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
I know USB is not powerful enough to charge while it is turned on, and I assume it will need more power than USB can provide to Flash a ROM or Recovery, could be wrong but that's my guess
Ok thanks! I really hope the problem is just a dead battery .
Will take me some time to check and maybe replace it.
But I'll post an update when I do.
Thanks again

by the way - is it possible that the RTC (CMOS) battery is dead (and not the main battery)?
I saw them on eBay and thought the CMOS battery may also be the culprit..

Never heard of them dying so far, didn't even know they had a CMOS battery to be honest, there is no BIOS that we can access
Apart from resetting time and date, like would happen on a PC, not sure what problems it would cause anyway, there is only 1 drive to boot from and default settings would be fine as the hardware was never upgraded
In the meantime I got my hands on a tf300t with a cracked digitizer for 50$.
Now I have 2 projects on hand!

Hello and good morning..:crying:..my Nexus s I9023 with JB 4.1.1, stock, had a frozen Display and didn`t react to the powerbutton so i pulled the battery....and guess, what.....it doesn`t turn on anymore!! I had the battery out all night...nothing! ...put it on the charger...nothing!....eaven the pc does not recognise my Nexus...! ...what can I do?? btw....searched the Forum and did this "plug in USB, press volume up and down, slide in Battery, hold for 5 sec. ....nothing!!! HEEEEELLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not an expert, but it seems a serious hardware problem.
As far as I know, there are for ways to switch on the nexus s.
1) ordinary power button
2) power button + vol up
3) vol up + vol down
4) plug in USB charger
The third method puts the phone in download mode, and Odin needs to be used. You have to look for the thread on how to restart the phone with a broken power button
Best wishes

if it is still in warranty send to the seller and if u are lucky u can have a new nexus s
....if there is no other option i will do that!!
If the screen does not turn on displaying the battery icon when you plug the charger to the usb, it may mean that they battery is completely flat or that the contacts are not working.
If you know someone who owns a nexus then try with another battery and another charger.
In any case, it is definitely better to give it to a service center for warranty replacement. They know how to make it work
Good luck

Exact same thing happened to me this morning! I just tried to send a text, my display blurred and the phone froze. When I pulled the battery it wouldn't turn back on >.<. Hesitant to send in for repairs though. I was running AOKP jb-build 1 and Air-kernel #201. It isn't being recognized by USB so I can't even flash it again. Tried to use the unbrickable resurrection program, but it doesn't get recognized, and I don't want to void the warranty further by opening the phone.
Any suggestions??

are you overclocking the cpu? This happened to me a few times until i finally clued it in my head. I was overclocking at 1400MHz and sometimes when i was using my phone for a while it would get hot and the screen would be all colourful and blurry and then it would freeze and I would have to take the battery out and reboot it
I was overclocking for a bit at a stable 1200 MHz for months, and usually hard resets fixed it. But if I remember correctly, I started using stock voltages and stock speeds with lazy governor a while back. It was stable until today. Usually the hard reset fixes it, but now its not even turning on or being recognized by USB
...wanted you all to know..just got my NS back today...they put in a New mainboard on warranty.l had to update Form 2.3.4 to ics and then to JB..........now i am happy:thumbup:

Anybody......please help me to my problems. I can't open (power on) or enter to recovery mode or downloading mode. I can't do anything to my device. Before happening things to my device, I left my device for 2 days without using it. I think it lack of battery power or something.

Ahrrr...... Exchanging PCB??? It might be expensive. But I didn't do anything to brick hardware. :'(
Could you please tell me how much it is cost to exchange PCB?
Well I got it for free... that time my phone was still under warranty, and it was just dead, and I knew there was no way they(servicing people) would know about my rooted phone, so its dirty but I told them it just died, and got it replaced for free...lol... so I don't really know the cost...lol
If ur phone is still under warranty, maybe you could use the same technique ...
ICS stock recovery hv problem, many people have become bootloop / hardbricks after wipe using stock/temporary recovery. If u want to flash official ICS, u need to flash CWR to.
Hardbricks mean your main board dead and need to replace the new board.

One question please: If you connect the tablet to AC power for some time (at least ten minutes) appears then the green battery charging icon ? Or nothing ...
Edit : it's possible that the tablet goes to a deep discharge condition, very dangerous for Li-ion batteries...

Remove the battery for a while. While the battery is out, plug the phone in with both AC and USB charging.. this will help you see if it's a defective battery

What is curious is that whatever button combination you use, there is no response at all. And the phone was working without problem only a couple hours before. Even if I plug, there is no battery charging image.

Aw man and I thought I had it bad... lol. Good luck with this!
I would try getting your hands on another battery though. I don't think the phone would boot up without a recognizable battery whether it had enough power or not. Maybe someone that actually knows can say... Either way I'll try it with mine tomorrow (mine boots into fastboot and recovery at least) and let you know
Looks like trying out another battery might be the only next logical step. No response even when plugged in for charging indicates a possible battery issue.
hey...
you got a similar condition with my phone...

I had read a lot of forums that said that with the JB upgrade (any type: AOSP, OTA, etc), after some time, theirs phones gone dead as well. Seems there is some problem with the bootloader that affect the mainframe (motherboard?). No one has been able to resolve this problem.

I had the exact same thing happened to me. I installed a custom jb ROM (I was already using an earlier version of the same rom) and I noticed abnormal battery drain and in a few hours it died completely. No response at all. Tries different batteries, chargers, everything. I tried sending it in to get it fixed but I was told they found corrosion on the board which was true so it would coat 450 to fix! But I know for a fact that wasn't the reason why the phone was completely unresponsive. I went to wind to get it fixed and the guy told me that they've been getting a crap load of nexus s devices back for the exact same reason. This coincided with the jelly bean upgrade. There's definitely an issue happening with the upgrade but Google or Samsung aren't saying anything.

Hi there, I was recently rooting my Nexus S (used the Nexus root toolkit) when something happened. I had originally dropped my phone and inside my phone it became damaged and wouldn't be able to properly mount itself when plugged into a laptop. So everything was working when I began rooting until nearing the end of the script, it stopped working due to the fact that my phone is quite delicate when it's plugged in, The root didn't work so I retried rooting it several times. My phone currently will not turn on or even show that it's charging when plugged into a wall. I know for a fact it's not an issue with the battery because I put my battery into my sisters Nexus S and there's around 40% left. Is there any solution to this problem or do I need a new phone?
Sounds like a hardware issue related to doing the device and nothing to do with the rooting process

It sounds like you need either a replacement or repair. If you have to pay for the repair, it may be a better idea to replace it with something newer/better.

(I don't speak 100% fluent english so I'm sorry for any mistakes!)
So, about 5 months ago I bought this used Nexus 5, I'm don't really remember but I think it was used for almost 1 year...
I never had any problem but a few weeks back it just started rebooting itself with no reason. I googled it and it happened to be a power button problem. I fixed that (just by tapping behind).
Now, 2 days ago (on Sunday) the phone just turned the **** off (it wasn't a battery problem because I remember that it was around 70%).
After that, the phone just didn't start anymore... Only when plugged in the wall, but it was looping forever on the Google logo screen.
So I googled it and it could've been the power button problem again, so I searched deeply and opened my phone (I followed some Youtube video..) and removed the power button (I mean, the plastic one) and that actually fixed the problem.
But after that the phone got stuck on the Google animation screen loop (Bootloop).
I thought about wiping out data e flashing image (I'm newbie at this) and I followed some videos (even posts from here, XDA).
But, for example, when I try to use the command "fastboot flash bootloader .... .img" but I receive a flash write failure error...
I can't do anything, It's not a cable problem or USB port (I tryed on multiples ports, both 3.0 and 2.0) and 3 different cables.
I also can't unlock this ****... If I use this command "fastboot oem unlock" it will unlock but I use any other command, it will just go back to "locked mode'.
Any help?
If the bootloader relocks when the phone is rebooted, the memory chip is damaged and can't be fixed. You will need to replace the whole motherboard unless you are very good at soldering a replacement chip.

A new Nexus 5 is around R$ 1,500 reais but I can't even find one anymore... It's out of stock everywhere.
So, I changed the motherboard.. Guess what, STILL NOT WORKING, what the ****?
It will turn on only If plugged in the charger... It shows the battery usage but nothing else...?

But it's a new one!
Have you considered that the power button could be one of the multiple issues causing this behaviour, meaning that its something else that's wrong also? If you put in a new board and the issue still exists and you bought it second hand maybe someone rooted the nexus at one point then incorrectly unrooted it in order to sell it. Maybe its still rooted and it was done incorrectly, so you should find out if it was rooted (boot loop and shutdown issues) are a big sign then a fresh flash to stock factory image done correctly should fix this for you. Nexus 5 phones are notoriously easy to root and also a fresh factory image flash can usually solve these issues. My final words of advice is If it turns out that it was ever rooted or still is do your research and flash a stock factory image. I could walk you through it but xda has videos that will save me the typing.
Good luck with your issue.

I say battery. Repeat what you did and try it while connected to a charger.
Removed the power button (at least the black one that goes outside)... It's working now, but I have to turn it on using some tiny thing
