[TIP] - Ok Google hotword not working - check Accessibility Services - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My Moto G updated to the newest version of Google Search yesterday (3.2.17.1009776.arm), which should have enabled the 'OK Google' hotword feature for UK English.....but it didn't work. A bit of head scratching later and the culprit discovered was an app that uses an Accessibility Service to listen for notifications. Disabled that Accessibility Service and hey presto I can 'OK Google, Beam me up Scotty, Do a Barrel Roll' etc etc to my hearts content....
Always worth letting the App developer for the App that uses this Accessibility hack know if this is a problem - it's also easily fixed their end.

[Completed] Just updated my Note 4 to lollipop and now ok google detection is grayed out

When going to google settings>voice>"ok google" detection it no longer allows me to select always on. It still works from the google app. In the language and input setting on my phone I have voice input set to enhanced google services already. Another issue after updating is it is auto setting my timezone incorrectly so I have to manually set it.

According to this: OK google setup not working ... it seems to be a Note 4 Samsung Lollipop bug.
Hopefully it will be fixed in a new version of the firmware.

[Q] SmartLock almost never works

Since a while I'm having big problems with SmartLock Trusted Places. When I'm @ home and having the home address from Google Maps enabled, it almost never works.
If I manually add my neighbors addresses as well it works for the moment but that result does not last.
If I go into the settings and add something it updates my location to the very address that is added automatically by enabling Home from Google Maps.
Location and location history is enabled on the device.
High accuracy, battery saving & device only all get the same result, it does not work.
Running 5.1 with Google Play services 7.0.97 (-438).
Does it work for you?
I actually just logged on to ask the same thing. It's been this way ever since 7.x dropped. It's so frustrating all the issues this new play services has caused.

Cannot activate share my location on Google maps -Location history setting is missing

Hi
My device is running the latest firmware (132), needless to say it's a Chinese version.
When I try to share my location on Google Maps, I get the following error: "We couldn't turn on Location History for [email protected]. To turn on Location History go to Location settings". However, when I click on "Open Location Settings", the Location History setting DOESN'T even EXIST so I cannot toggle it ON.
Any idea how to fix this issue? I tried almost everything except factory setting which I don't believe would help.
Thanks
David
Hi David,
I agree with your request. I had also opened a topic about it because I can not activate the Google Maps history.
I tried to restore the Honor Note 10, to install Google services (Google Services, Google Framework) but I was not able to enable the history anyway.
Someone says that it is the Chinese ROM that does not allow it to do so, another user reports that the chronology works for him https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77741213&postcount=32

How to permanently disable "Google Location Accuracy"?

I remember that I had similar issues with my old Galaxy S5 and the issue persists with my current Google Pixel 3a XL.
I don't want to use "Google Location Accuracy". I'm totally OK with just using GPS. So I went to the location settings and switched "Google Location Accuracy" to "off".
BUT: I have to redo this regularly. The usual hint is that Pokemon Go gets unexpectedly fast GPS fix. In this case I revisit the settings just to find out that Google decided to reenable "Google Location Accuracy" against my will.
I still don't know what the pattern behind this is. To be honest I'm a bit pissed that Google gives a **** about my preferences and toggles them back on every now and then.
Is this a common issue? I searched a bit and could not find anything interesting about automatic reenabling of "Google Location Accuracy". Is there some other setting I have to change to permanently opt out of "Google Location Accuracy"? Is this done by an app that can be uninstalled/disabled? Is it at least possible to install some APK which monitors the setting and warns if Google, again, reenabled it against my will?
Thanks in advance.
I run Samsung's. I keep location disabled 99% of the time. Firewall block that game or ditch it.
Enough of these data mining whores...

[PRIVACY] When you force stop & disable Google Play Services, does that one action alone change your Android 12 Settings to remove Google spyware?

[PRIVACY] When you force stop & disable Google Play Services, does that one action alone change your Android 12 Settings to remove Google spyware?
As part of the research in the thread on Google Maps no longer working only with GPS, and as a follow on to preventing Google from turning on Wi-Fi location scanning, I noticed something really INTERESTING when I forced stopped & disabled Google Play Services.
STEP 1
Google Play Services is running and Google Maps exists on Android 12 (but I'm never logged into anything because my phone is set up for privacy, which means there are no Google or Samsung accounts).
STEP 2
I force stop & disable Google Play Services.
STEP 3
That immediately causes Android 12 to complain about Google Maps not being able to work.
STEP 4
No big deal. So I force stop & disable Google Maps.
STEP 5
That not only stops Google Maps from complaining but that removes Google Maps from my homescreen.
STEP 6
Nice. But it also does two very interesting things (probably more I haven't noticed yet).
STEP 7
Notice that the Android 12 LOCATION SERVICES menu is now COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!
(I tested this twice by re-enabling Google Play Services so it's definitely repeatable.)
STEP 8
Interestingly, even the Organic Maps offline maps app had its settings COMPLETELY CHANGED!
(Again, I tested this twice and it's consistent that these things are directly related.)
In summary, by force stopping & disabling Google Play Services, two things immediately happened.
1. The Android Location Services "google alert crap" was all completely wiped out (yay!)
2. Any app that had a switch for "Google Play Services" location spyware was also wiped out (yay!)
I just did it a few minutes ago and everything else seems to be working just fine (I will report back tomorrow)......
Can someone who knows more than I do about this shed some light on what's going on?
