[Q] in KK.4.4.2 Native Exchnage Email App email-search does not work ? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings folks,
I want to use to Native Email App which came with N5, KK (4.4.2). After the update to 4.4.2, I was able to configure my Official Email account using SSL certificates. But I am still not able to -
1. Search the emails
2. Auto Sync my sub folders. I have to enter them and swipe it down to sync it. No auto email notification like inbox.
I am using TouchDown the free version. It is expensive to buy a license, plus it is not well integrated with ROM.
I rooted and installed KangKat and then Carbon, thinking probably it may work in any of them. It did not.
What do you recommend. I have checked with other fellows in the team, they say the Native App sucks, and it does not have search capability, some of them shifted Galaxy-4. I could not find any touchwiz ROM, or for what matter any any HTC Rom. I am sure their email app are better than Native Exchange Email App by Google.
Please recommend I need to -
1. an Email Client which is able to do two authentication. I mean in which i shall be able to import my certificate before i connect to the exchange/mail server.
2. be able to search my email
3. Sync my Calendar
4. Sync my sub folder.
Another good to have feature, probably i will spend time later figure out how to change the ROM, so that when i install SSL certificates for phone, it does not by default enforce security and i have to put a lock-pin (such a time waster).
Thank you fellows.
Thanks
Vivek Sharma

[Q] Help!

I have a Samsung captivate, rooted and on 2.2
The XDA wont let me login and i have the correct username and password. How do i fix/get around this??
notify a moderator about your situation, could be a problem on the database.
Reboot your phone, check your internet settings [or just try to load up a different/new webpage]. Check your email to see if you have any info not-done about activating your account [if you havn't already]. I'd wait a day, I just made this account so i figured i'll give it 24 hours before i actually do anything. If all else fails, contact a mod.
You may need to hit the 10 post line before the account becomes fully functioning. That could be your issue. Contact a moderator if all else fails.
android apps (radio + email client)
Hi everybody,
I am using Android (26.JAN][DFT/CWM] NexusHD2-Froyo V1.9G [Android2.2.2][Kernel: tytung_r2_oldcam) on HTC HD2.
I like this build very much.
Altough I have some problem:
- With the built in Exchange client I can not move email to Exchange folder. (Altough I can see the content of the exchange folders). Is it any chance to move letters to these folders?
- I have not got built in FM radio (altough my phone (HTC HD2) has the abiliy!!). I haven't found application on market neither (only internet radios). Could you advise something?
Thanks for helping me,
ga

[Q] Did VZW cripple stock MAIL app?

To sync with my company's ActiveSync server, I HAVE to check both "Use Secure Connection" and "Accept All SSL Certificates."
However, the latter choice is not appearing in my MAIL setup screen, ONLY the Use Secure Connection checkbox. As such I'm not given access to my work's mail server. I've seen it on almost every Android device... why would it be missing on TBolt?
Sorry... can an admin. please move this to the APPS topic?
Thanks!
I had that same issue and thought it was just me. I'm using Touchdown for now but would love to use the stock exchange one

:\ Once you have root, you could try replacing the mail app from a Sense rom that does have both of these options in the mail app.

Good idea... motivation for me rooting this bad boy.
I think I have only ever seen the "Use Secure Connection" and "Accept All SSL Certificates" options on the stock Android email app. The sense one only has the single checkbox.

No VZW had nothing to do with the mail app...
I am a bit confused by this. My exchange server shouldn't work with Android AT ALL... however due to HTC's ... how shall we say... engineering it works perfectly.
Wonder why you have to select all certificates...
How do we get HTML emails to show up on the stock app? All it gives me are text links.

Mine show up as HTML... not sure what is wrong on yours. Both GMail and Exchange are showing up fine.
I guess I just haven't found what I need to change in the setting yet then. I can be slow and special at times.
Ok, after more investigation, I have have realized that my exchange email is on plain text only, but... the option to change it is grayed out and unclickable. What am I doing wrong? I can't change the option from plain text, and I really don't like it.
It is crippled or at least modified
I'm pretty sure MAIL is crippled or at least modified. If you use MAIL to setup IMAP accounts, it will not let you specify an IMAP path prefix, which is a royal pain for me, since I can't view my sent emails without that IMAP path. That was one of the main reasons I jumped from WinMo to Android! Looks like I'll be rooting sooner than I thought (I've loved the Tbolt as-is until now)
On yours, does it have the option where it is suppose to allow you to check between html and plain text, grayed out? My personal email is fine, it's just the exchange email that is giving me fits. I can change the normal account. Oh, and html worked fine on my D2 with exchange.

Set up fine here, both before and after root with the stock mail app that came with the phone. I do have the choice of HTML or Plain Text and neither is grayed out. I have only one choice for security and it says "This server requires an encrypted SSL connection" which is checked. My admin also pushes a security policy requiring a PIN or password after a 15 minute time out.
To get rid of the exchange security, and get both SSL check boxes, I installed this app.:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775007
It doesn't work with the HTC message widget, but at least it gets you corporate email.
Have you tried telling it proceed? I had the same qualm, and I hit next and it prompted me to accept the certificate even though it was invalid.
Yeah, I have set up the account, and it works fine other than the fact that I can't get HTML emails in anything other than plain text. I go emailapp>menu>more>settings>send/receive>recieve settings and under receive settings the message format is grayed out and unselectable. I know it's not the server, because I had it setup fine on the D2. I have also tried deleting the account and starting over from the beginning, and it still does this. So I don't know what to do to fix it.
Any update on the HTML email issue? I'm rooted, so I can swap the native app with any other other Sense friendly app. It works well in Touchdown, but I prefer to use the native mail app -- it's much cleaner and well integrated. I just REALLY need to see HTML and graphics in my emails.
It used to be fine with my Droid X, so I know that it's not a server policy. It's just broken in the TBolt's native mail app.
thoughts?
I haven't really had the time to investigate further. I've just let it be for now. Semester will be over in two weeks, then I can look more into it.

[Q] Exchange email and Jellybean

Hello all,
I'm currently running bruce's CM10 (awesome rom by the way!) and I was wondering if anyone could point me to any advice/apps that could help me with my issue.
I'm setting up exchange on jellybean and one of the main requirements of the university is to setup a 6digit pin after the email is setup through android. On ICS and gingerbread, it would usually prompt me to create the pin after I make the account and allow me to access my email. However, it's not allowing me/prompting me to setup a PIN after I setup the email account on my android device. As of now, anytime I create the account, it gets stuck at syncing my email (meaning nothing is actually showing up in the email apk).
I looked up a few threads and even downloaded a flashable file on the nexus forums that was compatible with CM10 that bypasses this issue of creating security on the phone when setting up an exchange account, nevertheless it didn't work and i'm still presented with the same problem. The link I used was here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749921
^hopefully the above thread can elaborate more on my problem as it completely describes the issues i'm running into
So with that, has any one found any workarounds or what not?
Appreciate the help!

[Q] Email problems

I have an issue with the standard Samsung email app. I am a teacher and use my Note at school. I have it configured to access the school WiFi and it can access the internet (using Chrome) through the proxy server. However, I can't seem to use the email app. One of the features that I really want to use is to be able to email students in real time records of improvements suggested to their work which I am writing and sketching on the Note, but these emails all seem to fail continually in school only to go as soon as I get home. My ICT Technicians have suggested a different email app rather than the stock Samsung one - any ideas on how to do this?
Are you using a school-provided email account? If so, it's hard to say what the problem might be, not knowing what type of mail system they're using. If they're using an MS ActiveSync Email server, the Samsung email app should support it. Here's a quick how-to guide put out by Samsung. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/supportOwnersHowToGuidePopup.do?howto_guide_seq=7046&prd_ia_cd=N0000003&map_seq=48169
You may also want to check out this more general set of instructions on setting up ActiveSync email on Android. http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/smartphones/set-up-an-exchange-account-on-your-android-phone/1581
Hi there - yes it is school provided email using MS Exchange server. Settngs are OK because it woks perfectly from home. I have access to internet, but email app can't see it. My ICT Technician has a Nexus 4 with vanilla email app and this works OK with the proxy server, so I was thinking some incompatibility between Samsung email and exchange. We have come to the conclusion that we need to try another email app to eliminate things. Not sure how to do it, though, as quite a few threads mention rooting tablet and I'm not keen as it is only 10 days old!
Well, when you are at work and can't send an email have the IT staff see if your note is blocked. This can happen when an IOS or Android device sends too many sync requests within a short period of time. The Exchange will block a device when this happens and wll prevent the device from connecting for a period of time. Another suggestion made by Microsoft is set devices to manual update to alleviate the block issue. Good luck.
I'm pretty sure its not blocked, but I will check. Thanks for the suggestion.

It seems to me that it is just the settings of the smtp server. You could try using the smtp from Gmail, so that you can send from both home and school.

Replacement to poor native mail app - CM Email apk (AOSP+)

I love many things about my new Galaxy s7 however the native mail app is NOT one of them... So I thought I would share the CyanogenMod built Email.apk and Exchange2.apk files I pulled from an older rooted phone as replacements. The CM email app is my favorite as it is simple and very fast for IMAP/POP accounts and supports auto push for IMAP unlike the AOSP version. These files are from CM 13 (Android 6 Marshmallow) and all credit for their packaging and development goes to that amazing community - beyond the AOSP provided base of course
To successfully install don't forget to first turn on "unknown sources" under Settings/Lockscreen and security. Exchange2.apk is only needed to connect to Exchange servers. All that is needed is to download and then click on from your file manager...
As a helpful side note you can disable the native email app with Package Disabler Pro (or similar) app.
Enjoy!
The email doesn't work.

Hmm... what about the email does not work? Did it not install? Did you get it installed and you weren't able to set up an account?
Assuming you have the option to allow apps outside of the Google Play Store to be installed set to yes in your settings...
Neat. It's a reskinned GMail app in every way.
Looks good. Thanks for this
My solution is similar. I sideload Exchange Services, and that lets me use Gmail as my Exchange account's client. I subscribe to the Exchange Service's PB channel so I know when updates hit.

I have disabled my built in app
Installed exchange services
But failed to install the email apk as I got a message that it will update my existing built in app and then fail
I have oppo r7 plus phone running color os
Any advise please
I froze all things Google and am running Google free. This was helpful forward that endeavor
are the EAS security settings disabled on the Exchange.apk?
